Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The hotel was a little tired, but clean and comfortable. We liked using the swimming pool, the bar was pleasant despite the large groups of golfers and the restaurant was friendly, although the food was ok. However, it was the perfect base for attending a wedding nearby. The shuttle service was a great addition and the staff were friendly.
Carpets were a bit grubby in the room. Breakfast was expensive considering it was being packed away and there was little left.
Big room
Unprofessional, told me the spa is open when it wasn’t, charged me twice for my room, asked for birthday balloons for my husbands 30th and they put up birthday boy banner instead, embarrassing.
The location was gorgeous. Staff were friendly. Especially the service team.
For such a “luxurious” hotel I’d expect air conditioning in the rooms and not just a table fan blowing hot air around the room. The bathroom was very very dirty. There was blood stains under the sink and the floor and shower was dirty. We had to clean it ourselves quickly as we had a small child with us. The carpet was okay despite many marks and the furniture was even broken or very fragile. We ate at the terrace restaurant on the last evening and instead of telling us what isn’t available to eat they let us order 3 times and after every order the waiter came back out and told us it wasn’t available. Maybe we should have asked what wasn’t available after the first time but I’m sure this is the job of a waiter.
The bar/restaurant staff downstairs
The rooms were pretty basic and could do with a bit of a modernisation
O café da manhã.
Piscina estava com muito cloro, estava insuportável ficar.
Cody bed
The fact that part of our wedding party were told they didn’t have a room for the night even though booked months before hand
First two courses of dinner were very good and dining room staff very helpful Once I'd taken the (hot, synthetic) duvet out of it's cover so I could just use the cover to sleep under, I slept well.
Breakfast buffet was a big disappointment, cold plates, rubber fried eggs and dry black pudding, bacon passable. Probably very good if you get there when freshly put out! Bedroom carpet felt grubby and the shower door needs cleaning around the base etc. Couldn't help but notice it when sitting on the toilet! Being a big room, there was lots of space for a luggage rack, instead of having to have the case on the floor.
The room was spacious and was a pleasant temperature. The breakfast was good.
There was a large amount of hair on the back of the bath and up the tiles that shouldn't have been there. The chairs in the room were stained which I wouldn't expect. This made us question the cleanliness of the rest of the room.
The location to the wedding we attended
The hotel looked nice on arrival, reception was lovely, the receptionist was the first red flag, tried to charge us for breakfast twice even through we had booked B&B. Luckily i queried this straight away, someone in our party did not and got charged twice. On check out, no "how was your stay, was everything ok" nothing just a grumpy receptionist! The rooms were more like a Travelodge from the 90s, very old furniture, stained carpets, very uncomfortable beds. Even had a storage heater! As it caters for weddings and mainly golfers, it is very noisy, slamming doors at 1am and golfers up and about at 6am. Not worth the £140 per night we paid. Breakfast is all self service, fine nothing special - doesn't help only having 1 coffee machine to cater for a lot of guests.
Very welcoming. We were attending a wedding in a venue opposite The Abbey Hotel.
Nice surroundings
Poor value for money. Quite shabby and did not feel that clean.
Lovely spa, breakfast was nice.
The grounds were lovely
It was very dated and needed some work
Loved the actually size views and staff
The rooms felt very dated. No AC in the room I was in. 3 people staying in it a fan was not great. TV was very old and was not even a smart TV
Scenery
Hot rooms Had daughters wedding there food was very disappointing
The bedroom was lovely , the shower was nice and warm and it was fairly quiet on a night
During our stay , we got put in a room to which we discovered our door didn’t lock and the tv didn’t work , we then got moved to another room and the bedroom was much better , we were told that because of the hassle we would get complimentary drinks and free breakfast in the morning . We got our drinks and I explained that we had to leave before a certain time in the morning so would it be possible to get our breakfast before 8 , to which they agreed Morning came and no breakfast so we had to leave hungry and were disappointed , came back and explained they got us drinks again and promised breakfast the following morning , after receiving our breakfast we were a bit disappointed because the sausages were awful . We tried to see the good in the hotel , and they did try to make it up to us . The corridor had a bit of a fishy smell to it and the double bed was 2 singles squished together which I specifically asked not for . Therefore falling down the gap of the bed was just the icing on the cake . The hotel was good however service was poor and I felt as though it wasn’t worth the money
As a 60th Birthday celebration for a friend the staff made an effort to make the room celbratory:) The room service staff were attentive and helfpul with refills of tea/coffee items. Desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. A change to our party was handled well (they also had a huge do on the other end which we were unaware of until the next day!). Restaurant staff were chatty and helpful with food choices. All in all it was good there. Great grounds.
The paperwork prior was a bit lacking and the wrong spa booking intially - was corrected. Not clear how to use the spa facility during the stay in terms of changing e.t.c.
Lovely location
Noisy neighbours
Good selection
The hotel was stunning and in a lovely location
There was loud reving from some vehicles outside - it was late at night around 11pm.
Clean hotel very welcoming
Bedroom was too warm I reported it on departure but the lady on desk didn’t seem to care I didn’t sleep well
Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. There was tea and coffee available in the room, with a small kettle. You could request vegetarian/vegan sausages (by request only; not served in the breakfast buffet), and dairy-free milk was available for drinks. There were also allergen signs next to many of the breakfast buffet items.
The feel of the place was not a luxury hotel, despite being advertised as such. It felt much more like a Travelodge or other budget hotel. Decor in areas such as the pool and sauna was tired, peeling, and dirty, and the jacuzzi water looked pretty unclean. The breakfast was underwhelming, with tinned tomatoes, rubbery mushrooms, tinned fruit, and self-serve tea and coffee. The coffee and hot water came from just one machine, which meant a long queue, and non-boiling water available for making tea. We were also told we would have a garden view, when in reality our room looked out onto a path, a bollard and a big hedge that blocked the view completely. We also had golfers walking along this path right next to our window, dragging noisy bags and chatting from 6am onwards. I also emailed and sent a message on booking.com in advance to ask about vegan breakfast options, but never received a response. I did, however, receive two reminders via email and booking.com to bid for more expensive room types (which I did not do).
Very welcoming reception. Good disabled parking. Very clean room.
More continental choice for breakfast.
Spacious clean comfortable, i enjoyed my stay here i should have used the facilities provided they looked great, staff were really nice as was the meals.
Staff were friendly and polite. I liked the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Helped to keep us cool.
Place was a little tired. No poached eggs available at breakfast. Poor fruit selection, coffee machine kept running out of water at breakfast. Shower was very small and the cap on the shower control unit was missing.
The grounds were nice
Our room was disgusting, it had a very disturbing brown stain on the floor. I immediately said I wasn’t comfortable with the room but because the manager wasn’t there we had to stay in the room that night and were only able to change the next day.
Lovely hotel with great rooms,.facilities and helpful staff
Great facilities in the spa and the golf course. Restaurant food was good
Didn’t take cash at the bar. Golf course should have better signage
Great gym
Having booked several rooms to enjoy some time together celebrating a friend's 60th the hotel team were helpful throughout. the catering and waiting team particularly good at managing the group and providing a separate space for us to enjoy for the birthday meal. It's a great place to relax with easy access to two bars, outside and inside seating and the pool with spa. Spa treatments enjoyed by several of us. Beds were soft and bedding easy to adjust for temperature during the stay. Housekeeping team were great.
Bathroom was clean but some hanging hooks/pegs would have been useful.
Overall room service . Upon arrival staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and spacious and breakfast looked freshly prepared along with staff smiling and assisting everyone with anything they needed.
Nothing.
The hotel was a good meeting point for us to meet with a friend who lived locally
Room was very small, very hot in the room, windows only opened a little a fan was provided but didn’t make any difference, toilets in the lobby were outdated and dirty at times
Loved the golf
Nothing
Closeness to wedding venue superb spa
Nothing
Restaurant staff were excellent, they went above and beyond. Breakfast was great as was the bistro. The room was large, just a little old fashioned. The water was hot and the shower was powerfully.
We had the superior double room which was very clean and comfortable, our evening meal was delicious and breakfast was very good too. We enjoyed the use of the spa and left feeling very relaxed and happy.
Unfortunately the lift was out of order and as I had broken my toe earlier that week the climb up 4 flights of stairs was not very comfortable but the staff were very apologetic about it,
Lovely staff, very conscientious when dealing with a gluten allergy. Great pool, quiet hotel with beautiful views across the golf course
Tiny details need attention like tatty headboard and net curtains
Room over looking course make sure you get the balcony room
Food wasn’t great at all
rainfall shower head could've been a bit higher due to partner couldn't stand in the shower straight
Location was great
Rooms hasn’t been cleaned Rooms were above disco loud music till early hours had little children with me Breakfast was terrible , had to keep waiting for food to be cooked and coffee machine broken
We have visited the Abbey Hotel a few times and it’s our go to place when we come up to visit my daughter. It’s dig friendly which works really well too
Nothing
Always a pleasure to stay there one of my favourite hotels
Everything
The rooms and facilities and location
Nothing
Very clean and tidy Beds super comforty Large spacious room Great spa
Nice hotel and grounds. Evening restaurant staff were lovely. Kids eat free was good.
Room and cleanliness
We were in room 137. It overlooks the power plant building containing a huge engine, presumably AC. The noise is bad, particularly if you have to open tge windows due to the heat
it’s was so nice and friendly team. charlotte was especially lovely
nothing x it was so nice
Had to ask for fresh eggs as the ones on the hot plate were like cardboard but apart from that good ,lots to choose from . We ate on a evening too and food was good too ,had to wait for condiments to come to the table ,really they should have been put on the table before the food came. Had a few drinks sat overlooking the golf course with was really nice
The relaxed feel in professional hands of the staff was excellent
Got off to a bad start as obvious to us now when we was booking and select rooms I’m guessing the best executives room was put to illustrate which is misleading sales technique especially if someone is booking that holds a disabled badge that required walk in shower due to ulcer legs and bad mobility and the sofa bed as extra space as shifts about a lot with spine infection and we received neither …. Attention to detail wasn’t good either top shelf in wardrobe I wiped out was full of dust the buffet to use at the dressing table was broken had loose legs the chairs well one hasn’t been steamed I think ever the stains on it were disgusting .. had to come for toilet rolls was left with one ….. the fan was a great additional feature
The pool
I could if received the breakfast I paid for
Room service breakfast was amazing
Parking. People park anywhere and the staff don't keep a log of registration numbers for non hotel guests so I was blocked in my space by someone visiting for a conference
The staff were friendly
It was not value for money
Clean , staff friendly . Bed comfortable. Breakfast great choice
Only comment shower it was a good shower but it was a compact and water was dangerously hot I would say whilst your trying to adjust it to the right temperature
The location was great for us and the hotel was clean and tidy. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
The rooms were so hot. There is a ceiling fan which spins slowly and the speed can not be altered, so stirs around the hot air. The beds were very uncomfortable as were very soft and boney, we barely slept a wink with this and the room temperature. .
The staff, the spa, the setting all lovely!
Hotel & grounds very run down.. Breakfast was just ok my husband sausages were off not a great choice and wasn’t presented well. Room drawers didn’t open and food choice in restaurants terrible.. Never again!!!!
Food, Cleanliness, Outside area..
The staff were excellent especially Rebecca on reception on our arrival and Bryn on the bar very helpful with drinks and advice. Spa was much better than on some previous visits having parts refurbished
new lockers you need a padlock which staff on the gym desk said were available to purchase at £5.99 so we had to take things back to our room and leave clothes in an open locker.
The staff were helpful and always had a smile.
Nothing
Friendly staff. Only 5 minute drive from train station. Sauna very good heat. Spa open until a decent time also
No air con in the room, and also a bit ‘tired’ looking. Not many beds or seats around the pool, had to put our towels on a metal bench in the small garden outside. Also got very busy at one point, too many people for the spa’s size at peak times
It was very clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful
Friendly staff.
Arrived at 3 pm and checked in, room still being made up at 4, no towels left in room. WiFi patchy and kept dropping out. Lift to 3rd floor not working so had to take the stairs.
Room size, extras like fan in the room due to heat Comfortable beds surroundings and facilities
Just looks a little tired round the ages
The hotel is functional
Show in need of a deep clean
Great hotel
No aircon!!. . . . Seriously, every hotel has aircon these days. At 30deg, a fan in the room is not enough
I had a booked Group to stay by Coach the Female Staff were excellent. Beds were great rooms Fantastic size. Breakfast was Great.
No parking for the Coach even thought we had 32 pax there, Ours last night was awful there was a party group had arrived and the noise was just awful, we had no where to go to get away from them. The Menu is very limited for evening meal. In my room Bathroom the Shower was terrible I wouldn't ever use it. Customer care 0
Good location. Nice friendly staff. We had a fan in the room, as it was super hot.
The food in the bar at night was not very nice. The room was not really clean.
Location was great and staff friendly. Room was big and clean. We had a great stay
Wasn’t able to securely store our clothes and belongings in the Spa due to a lack of padlocks.
Free standing shower and nice views and big room
No air conditioning
Nice atmosphere within the hotel, although quite busy Room size was good, beds were comfy Shower was powerful
Seating outside was very untidy and dirty tables, there was not enough of it. Room was dirty/dusty, cups were dirty, dirty toe nails on the bathroom floor
Lovely hotel, staff are excellent Pool was lovely
Nothing
Good position
Appalling consideration of the recent heat wave. Corridors were like a sauna.....room like an over. Curtains left open all day on a Southerly facing room. No aircon....one ineffective fan. The bedding was hot from the sun. We suffered the worst night sleep ever in a hotel! Yes it was exceptional weather but the management and house keeping had made no effort to reduce the impact. When we checked out we were promised a call from a supervisor/manager......call never came!
Good range of breakfast items. The site is generally well kept and the swimming pool a welcome relief in the hot weather. Car charging a helpful facility at reasonable cost if not occupied by non EV vehicles when plenty of spaces available elsewhere on-site.
For a supposedly Executive Suite very poor climate control leading to interrupted nights sleep for second consecutive year. Badly stained duvet. Cold water tap in en-suite issuing very hot water and difficult to control shower temperature. Once or twice was almost scolded by water while in the shower. TV not working with signal constantly dropping out. Toilet not flushing properly and tooth paste stain down side of sink. Hot water for drinks could be more easily available for large number of guests in breakfast area.
Overall the hotel was nice staff were very friendly, reception staff were helpful the food was ok and drinks not too expensive. Room was large and clean had everything you need was a bit hot due to no air con and was a hot day but they did provide fans . Lovely setting the only downside the spa could be updated and needs more beds or chairs and the garden area leading off the spa was tatty !! Also the water machine in the spa area looked grubby . Overall would stay again but not specifically for a spa day .
Lovely grounds and super helpful staff
No air-conditioning, would not have mattered bar for the heatwave
The hotel was lovely rooms clean and bed comfortable The food was nice and the staff was lovely and helpful
Nothing It was lovely all round
Clean room Lovely breakfast with allergens clearly labelled Friendly staff Lovely outlook to the golf course Reasonably priced Well sized room Good facilities This was my third stay and I'll definitely keep coming back when I'm working in the area
The changing rooms are a little tired - but great to have use of the pool included so this is a minor issue
Convenient location for a wedding opposite
Room 127 was unclean and needs a refurb. Asked for an upgrade when emailed but heard nothing back. We stayed as a wedding party guest and part of my 30th birthday and it failed to deliver hotel&spa vibes. Window was unclean and blind broken. Seemed like the room was above staff smoking area/kitchen, constant noise!
Perfect
The location was lovely.
Very tired and needed a lot of work to bring it up to a decent standard. Very disappointing.
I booked a weekend with my wife including spa treatment and dinner. The room we booked was excellent, with our own balcony overlooking the golf course and Prosecco and chocolates as we arrived. The spa treatment was incredible and extremely calming and the food was incredible. We were given fantastic service by Charlotte who made sure we felt welcome and special. We would definitely come again even just for the restaurant alone. Thank you for a great stay.
Typisches Golfhotel. Schon viel los in der früh. Frühstück war soweit o. K. Zimmer sauber, Standard. Lademöglichkeit für E-Autos gegen Gebühr. Gute Lage zu Redditch.
Den Spa-Bereich haben wir nicht genutzt. Kostet glaube ich extra.
Set in a lovely location. Great rooms spacious clean very comfortable beds. Powerful shower with a separate bath. Tapas meal in golf club servings are large and very good value for money.
We stayed for 2 nights. And we were unable to book a table for an evening meal on the second night as they were fully booked. Even tho they were happy to push their buy money voucher for meals. Spa swimming pool and hot tub need an update. Only 5 beds to lie on nowhere near enough for the amount of spa days on offer. Tiling around hot tub was loose. Very slippery floors. Outside area was closed even tho it was a very nice day.
BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD
Bad organising from hotel /booking .com...how can u book 11 months in advance to be double booked...joke
Breakfast was much improved with a small bit of continental. Girl at reception was very welcoming and efficient. (Nayla)
Beds not that comfortable.
Staff were very helpful, there was a problem with our room where the lights tripped due to a dodgy bedside lamp that was sparking. Staff acted swiftly and got us moved.
Nearly having a serious situation with electric. Husband was very lucky not to be injured by dodgy lamp. We understand staff couldn't have know about the issue and grateful it was sorted as above.
A fantastic golf weekend with a big group of golfers and non golfers. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Facilities really good
The staff were lovely and very helpful
The hotel is tired and grubby, the bathroom in our room (which was a wetroom)was dirty and smelt musty, the extractor fan rattlesnake it was going to explode. There was black mould on the floor in the seam were the lino met and when the shower water went over this it came out and was floating around the floor. The spa area has a horrible odour that smells so strong it was disgusting. The jacuzzi had dirt floating around in it and the changing rooms were smelly and grimy. Breakfast was really poor quality produce. Our bedroom had 3 single beds pushed together but there was a 3 inch gap down the middle that we couldnt close. I have been to many spa hotels and they are nothing like this it was really terrible.
Comfortable rooms, nicely decorated and furnished. Tea and coffee, lovely big shower, hot! Staff really welcoming and helpful
The water machine by poolside of spa was rusty and old looking
Really nice little hotel but the golf course was an added bonus. We didn't use the spa but the staff were exceptional. Very helpful and friendly. Overall a great stay and would definitely go again for a golf break.
Bathroom showing signs of use and decor of rooms could be more modern. If you stay on the ground floor there is sometimes noise from anyone staying in the room above. Not big issues and wouldn't put us off going back in the future.
Bolthole
Too few staff; inexperienced; not always great communicators. Food terrible.
Good facilities.
The hotel was nice with good size rooms. The hotel staff were pleasant and approachable. The location was good enough for the area I needed to be within.
I was due a refund for the golf, as we only played 3 holes before we gave up. The course was so bad we could not play it, but it was a big struggle to get the refund.
From the outside the hotel looked tired and in need of some renovation. The rooms are quite basic and the ceilings are sloped , which can be hazardous when getting out of bed I was part of a large group and everyone was very dissapointed with the menu choice . When the food arrived it was cold , served on cold plates . We ate over two nights and the food again was not good . Overall the weekend was dissapointing for everyone in the party , the standard overall was very poor . I would not recommend this hotel.
Room could most probably do with an upgrade. Looked Tired. Had four beds but only one chair ?
good breakfast
car charging only gave 5kw
Good facilities
Unclean stains on the chairs and bed decorative pillows and the ceiling leaked so I had to change rooms
