Good location, onsite parking, very pleasant atmosphere, tastefully furnished and comfortable bedroom.
Nothing to dislike
Lovely settling, excellent food, helpful staff.
Great location Good breakfast and dinner Pleasant staff Large room with good facilities Secure bike storage
The dining room was too hot; I asked on two different days when booking dinner for a table under a fan, but only got one once. There was a lot of dust around on the stairway to our room; someone had written "Clean Me " on it! The window in our bathroom did not seal well and was drafty
Ambience, styling and location
Nothing
Attractive location by the River Seven with a large outside area with parasols to sit in good weather. Plenty of choice in the restaurant, quick and excellent service and a very enjoyable meal. Good choice for breakfast. Very friendly and well trained staff. We would definitly choose to stay at the hotel again. We enjoyed being able to stroll in the parkland of Attingham Park National Trust as the entrance is directly opposite the hotel. The car park can get busy on weekends but there is a very helpful gentleman who organises the parking as best as possible.
Nothing to contribute - they are doing an excellent job.
Room very clean , fresh milk and shower products
Everything was perfect
Location was great. Decor and ambience was really great and the food was excellent.
Beautiful property. Very quirky. Lovely comfortable room
This is my second visit and the rooms could do with a dust as cobwebs were found on both visits in the rooms. Other than that it was lovely.
Staff were pleasant, evening dinner delicious. Situation perfect.
The room was not in the main building and was adapted for disabled people. This meant the bathroom was large, bare and chilly. To get to the main building meant going out into the rain/cold/ whatever, not convenient for us and certainly not if you were in a wheelchair. It should have been stated at booking that it was an adapted room, in which case I wouldn't have taken it. We were told on arrival that all the other twin rooms were booked, in spite of there being several left when I booked. Not happy, would have paid more for a better room.

It is what it says on the tin - A restored old Manor on the banks of the fabulous river Severn! Lovely comfortable room! Short on staff, but the dear volunteer car park attendant was brilliant! Food average Pub Grub, not up to usual Brunning and Price!
Staff friendly. Excellent food. Room spacious. The shower was powerful.
Nothing to dislike.
Accomadion and food were excellent would definitely return visit
Everyone was very friendly
A beautiful location. Our room was well equipped, very clean and quiet with lovely views of the river. Staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. Great restaurant, with varied dishes and delicious food, especially the breakfasts. One of our favourite hotels in Shrewsbury.
The property is in a beautiful location.
N/A loved the property.
Lovely setting by the river. Good restaurant with wide range of food. Really good friendly service.
Room a bit cluttered
Fantastic place, the restaurant and bar area was lovely and welcoming. And the food was really nice aswell. The room we had was a little small but still great.
Only thing is the traffic noise, from our room with window open, we did sleep though.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Regarding the shower tray in the bathroom it needed to be treated with a no slip coating. It was extremely slippy and dangerous once wet.
Beautifully appointed, clean & comfortable rooms, well equipped with all comforts required.
Nothing that I can think of.
Breakfast was good, do like to help yourself to fruit etc but no trouble for it to be served to you. Room was lovely and bathroom impressive - loved waterfall shower.
Had dinner at hotel, vegetarian choice limited and drinks expensive. Had to go looking for staff when wanted to check out.
The breakfast was fine, the service was very poor.
We waited forty five minutes for the breakfast to arrive. Evening meal was thrown together before presentation. The suits were cold . An expensive around stay.
Presentation and overall experience was superb
Was a little noisy in the morning due to hearing the beer barrel delivery outside.
Location. The history of it.

Enjoyed everything about our stay. Lovely staff. We were well looked after.

Everything was great
Couldn't do anything better, excellent
The location was brilliant, staff excellent, room adequate. The dining rooms excellent, usual Brunning and Price standard. Situated just opposite a National Trust Home
Food was varied, some good, some adequate. Only just value for money.
The breakfasts were brilliant every day, a lot of effort has gone into it. Location is perfect so long as you can get about in a car to see tbe sites, its nice to be away from the busy city's or town.
It was perfect
Mooie locatie met mooie kamers.
Niet.
Lovely place, staff helpful and friendly, Great pizza's on Friday evening out the back. Breakfast was very good too. Great selection of draft beers and lagers on tap. Room was neat and tidy and had tea, coffee machine and biscuits! Bathroom was clean, nicely equipped and good. I'd highly recommend the place and stay again, but be aware of above average room and food prices, but you pays your money and takes your choice.
Food prices were expensive. For example we ate down the road once at the Horseshoes pub and had a 2 course meal for £18 that was massive and very good. Most main courses at the Mytton were more than that.
Old historical property on the bank of the river seven. Lovely room bar and restaurant down stairs. You can eat and have drinks outside if you wish.
Nice surroundings, very clean and cosy but spacy and comfortable room. All recently refurbished.
Nothing
Exceptional we had a lovely time
Everything was superb, friendly helpful staff, facilities, room were all excellent, prices were better than expected, well presented staff, lovely location
Nothing to dislike
The junior suite was a good size and had a nice view of the river. All the food we had was great. Service in the pub and restaurant part was quick even though they were really busy. Staff were friendly.
Parking was tricky as the pub is so popular, even though they have 2 car parks. I thought breakfast was expensive as even with a full English breakfast, you had to pay an extra £4+ for basic tea and coffee.
The building and location were excellent. Although extremely busy, staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was good and an excellent selection of carefully sourced ingredients.
The noise from a busy, nearby road. Lots of small insects crept in through the fly screens in the bathroom/bedroom.
Das Essen im Restaurant, das große Zimmer
Teppichboden im Zimmer, kein Pool, Lage des Zimmers zur Straße
Was clean tidy and everyone you could need
Room was cramped
Great location, fantastic views. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable.
Some cobwebs in the room around the blinds and toilet. Restaurant was lovely, high price of the food did not reflect the quality of ingredients.
Good location, helpful staff. Great food options, including breakfast.
Spotlessly clean and stylishly decorated. Good breakfast. Close to Shrewsbury and Ironbridge. Nice bar and garden area next to the river. Good air con.
Proximity to main road but hotel is well sound proofed so was not actually a problem.
The outstanding location and style of the venue
Leaving
It was perfect property in perfect picturesque location. Would definitely like to go back.

We love The Mytton & Mermaid for many reasons & will always come back & recommend to others .

We loved the room. It was cosy and full of everything we needed, a lot more facilities than most hotels ( including a proper hairdryer and full ironingboard). The bathroom was big and had the most amazing shower. It was spotlessly clean in our room and everywhere else. The view of the river was beautiful. The food was delicious and we had dinner and breakfast there. Breakfast options were good and small changes were welcome. As a dairy free person I was well catered for. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The location was great for getting into Shrewsbury and over the road is Attingham Park a national trust property.
We loved all of it.
Nice location by the Severn and opposite Attingham Park. Good, popular restaurant and bar. Very good breakfast with lots of options (no self service). Room and bathroom both spacious. On the top floor where there was no noise from the pub - but not very well insulated from road noise.
Mattress much too soft for our liking. Be prepared for stairs - no lift (old property). Quite stuffy in the room - no aircon - and the fan didn’t do much,
This riverside hotel provides everything that a guest would like such as a beautiful riverbank view,a lively pub and a perfect room. The attention to detail is obvious in every aspect of this fabulous establishment. The lady at the breakfast made the whole experience more complete as she has welcomed us and took care of our breakfast in an efficient manner.
* We would love to have lunch in the pub but after 5 min of waiting someone to notice our presence ,we decided to leave * two set of stairs in order to get in the room while carrying heavy luggages was not my favourite moment however I must mention that the lady at the reception was really kind and helped me with my luggage during the check in.I really appreciate her offer.
Perfect location, lovely comfortable junior suite with high quality complimentary items. Very friendly helpful staff.
Parking difficult - bar and restaurant very crowded due to the pub’s popularity with locals.
Location and rooms
Heat was unbearable in roof space rooms
I was expecting an old fashioned manor house. Completely the opposite. Gorgeous decor, beautiful gardens complete with sun umbrellas, deck chairs on the lawn going down to the river. An absolute delight. Good staff, nice food in a lovely dining room.
Location Facilities
It was all very nice
We know Brunning and Price pubs here in Surrey so had a good idea of the quality to expect.
I dont think there was anything to be improved.
Lovely relaxed ambience and beautiful setting. Food was terrific and the staff were so pleasant.
Our double room was very small. Very comfortable and high quality fit out but cramped. However, I know not all rooms are similar.
Lovely hotel, stayed before
Stairs very difficult when your 80
The room and bed were very comfortable and extremely clean
Beautiful looking shower that was very dangerous. It did not have a non slip floor nor safety mat or grab handles. I don’t know how it passed health snd safety
There isn't a single fault with this location in my opinion
There is nothing not to like treat yourself
Gorgeous setting next to the river. Suite room was fabulous.
Pretty surroundings, relaxing environment friendly staff
The room was the accessible one so close to marquee a little noisy and the window did not open
Ambience of the place, friendliness of staff, exceptional food, beautiful accommodation
-
The hotel is lovely, very well appointed and stylish. The food is good, we had lunch, then dinner at night time. All good quality. Breakfast was good the following morning. The staff on the restaurant side were, professional and very helpful, whilst being friendly. Good front of house training.
On our arrival there is no obvious area to check-in, we were shown to the far end of the bar, which was very busy. It would appear that only the manager could complete check-in and he was very adjateted and short of polite conversation. Not at all a pleasant experience for guests. Surely a designated area away from a busy bar could be found to use as a check-in area in a hotel that charges £221 pounds per night for a room. Also perhaps a course on customer care would be in order for the staff in that area. The room was comfortable and spacious, however there are a few points of maintenance required within the room we had, just general things, for example pealing paint, on the walls, dying plants in the room. These are the little things that make a good hotel, become an exceptional one. Overall if I was giving a score out of 10 I would say 6. Due to the attitude we experienced with the staff at the bar area/check-in side. A smile costs nothing.
Pretty location.
Parking was difficult and bar service slow due to high volume.
Location - ease of access, easy parking, near river Wonderful friendly staff
Rather crowded at times
Set in a beautiful location, friendly staff and superb room,
I arrived at 2pm and parking was a struggle
Stunning location next to the river. Staff were friendly and helpful. Vast selection of drinks at the bar. Enjoyed the food at their relaxed restaurant. Free parking. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a good nights sleep.

Everything. Lovely welcome. Our bags were carried up third floor which I appreciated
Carrying out our own drinks to outside area after queuing at bar. We’d appreciate bar service.
Beautiful location, easy to park and great character. Food was amazing.
Very clean and all as expected. Will be back.
Exceptional food - dinner and breakfast - very reasonable prices. Normally you'd pay the same for standard pub fare, but this was way beyond that quality-wise. Really friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms and situation. A real find!
Nothing
Good choice for breakfast, lovely coffee and staff very polite
Could have been a little quicker, but appreciate they were busy
Beautiful place
Rooms were hot during the heat wave made sleeping uncormfortable.
Fabulous place to stay, great staff & food was great. Loved the location.
Better fans for summer, especially when the room is on the top floor.
Good service, really lovely staff who were very accommodating. Room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Good food. Thanks.
Not enough hangers (room 4) No fridge (which was a surprise in a junior suite) No safe No mirror on the dressing table USB charging point Only one window opened in the main bedroom The bathroom window could open but had to be wedged to stay open
The staff so helpful and no problem with anything. the meal was really good did not wait for any thing will go there again.
nothing
Moved us to a more accessible room without a quibble Great breakfast cooked speedily to order
It would have been better if the car park had been larger
Great choice.
Service a bit piecemeal, served by 3 or 4 people all of whom were most pleasant.
Beautiful room and excellent restaurant.
The welcome to our room was lacking.
I have written for our next stay 28th to 30th June. My comments have not changed. Thanks.
Lovely situation, good restaurant menu, reasonable price.
Our easy access room had very small window. Breakfast waiter rather frosty. Minor quibbles.
We are returning guests to Mytton and Mermaid. We came back because we were previously impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of your staff, the beautiful hotel, the ambience, the delicious food and our room, which had many little 'extras'. We are still impressed. While we live on the other side of the world, we have previously recommended Mytton and Mermaid to our friends and they loved it, too. Thank you to everyone who interacted with us and your rear of house team, too. We plan on returning someday.
We have no complaints.
The room, the food and staff were all excellent.
Nothing, we couldn’t have asked for anything else.
Beautiful and lovely atmosphere
Traffic noise
Comfortable bed. Spacious bathrooms. Good toiletries. Choice of hot drinks in the room. Friendly staff. Offer of carrying luggage to our room. Very clean in room and public areas. Sufficient car parking available. Scenic location
Top floor room up two flights. No lift. Very hot with no air-conditioning. A room fan provided but windows difficult to open so fanning hot air only. Made for sticky nights sleep. Breakfast waitress served only. A few items on the menu not available. Only knew that orange juice available after asking. Not on the menu.
Excellent stay again. This is our 3rd visit and all was as expected, clean, comfy room. Great food, friendly staff, good selection of beers and wines. Would visit again.
Nothing
Beautiful room and excellent bathroom. Lovely location and building/furnishings.
This is a very popular pub and we arrived on a very warm and sunny fathers day. It was packed. At dinner nearly all the food options were no longer available because it had been so busy. Strangely at breakfast there was no yoghurt and no eggs. Chef had to go and buy some so we waited 40 mins for cooked breakfast. Couldn't really see how this was affected by the previous day. Surely you know how many people you are expecting for breakfast.
Stayed here for the second time, nice rooms, good location and good food
Nothing to speak of
Great vibe in this small town! Great service, setting and food was very tasty.
It is a beautiful location right by the river and the building itself is also lovely.
When we booked it we checked we wouldn’t be too near where they were showing the England match to which we were told we wouldn’t hear it. In fact our room was outside the building ad right in front of the tent for the match so we got no sleep that night. At breakfast I told them I had an intolerance to a specific food and when breakfast was served it had some of that food item in it. When I asked why they said it’s because they treat intolerance differently to allergies so it was ok to give it to me even though I had told them it would make me ill.
Didn’t have
The fact that we were putting in a room where somebody had vomited a lot the night before and it had not been cleaned up properly. There was no opening windows or doors and we were expected just to put up with it it stank and it was the hottest night of the year so far in May? . Complaints have fallen on deaf ears with the company both via email and in the written form ,and have been completely ignored by them.
The location of the hotel and the food was excellent.
For me and this is not the fault of the hotel. But the stairs were a bit difficult for me to negotiate, I have some mobility issues but I managed in the end. We stayed in room No 4. Lovely bathroom but I would have like a safety handle in the shower and L O’ccitaine toiletries are always welcome. The room itself was very spacious over looking the river.
Breakfast was good. Some fresh fruit would have been nice.
Loved the location, the decor and the friendly staff. We paid for breakfasts, which were good and the veggie sausage were lovely. Room was comfortable and well equipped for our short stay.
We booked an evening meal on the Sunday and the menu was limited for a veggie who can’t eat spicy foods. Otherwise there wasn’t anything we disliked.
The breakfast was adequate but black pudding was so hard it was inedible. We weren't offered more tea or coffee and when requested it it did not arrive. Dirty plates were not cleared until we asked. It was cooked breakfast and no offer of anything else. Waiter at breakfast (male) was miserable and indifferent. Evening meal (fish pie) was very dry. Not value for money.
The bedroom (room10) was claustrophobic as there was no window and there was ventilation pipe outside which kept us awake. Lighting in bathroom was poor. Beds were comfortable.
Good room, nice staff
Nowhere to store in bathroom.
Sehr gepflegtes Haus, freundliches Personal, gemütlicher Pub mit gutem Essen, schöne Zimmer mit allem Komfort!
Big friendly hotel, great location. Good food and drinks, brilliant staff.
Nothing
We liked the busy ambience of the place, everyone seemed happy. The pub was right by the river and would have been lovely on a warm sunny evening. Our room was comfortable and warm once we had turned on the heater. The breakfast was very tasty if a little expensive. Very handy for visiting Attingham Park and Shrewsbury.
Great Location, lovely staff and ambience 😄
Small room, although would have been fine if there was space to put things, every surface had something on, leaving no space for personal belongings
Beautiful find right on the river! We loved to deck chairs on the river bank, whilst enjoying a drink
How well we were looked after. Friendly staff who were always ready to help.. Having an accessible room on the ground floor was very good for someone with limited mobility.
More disabled car parking. The car park was very full and the 2 places had cars with no blue badge showing.
