Staff were very good. Polite, good service.
Room was on main road and very noisy
The staff were very friendly polite and helpful
The room was tiny and very humid - due to being on a very busy main road we had to close the windows at night which led to the room becoming hot stuffy and bedding felt damp due to the humidity - a fan was provided but did nothing for the humidity - a dehumidifier was definitely needed The shower in the en-suite was heavily moulded around the seals and tray and there was an inch gap beneath the door so water sprayed out onto the tiled floor - dangerous Food choice was extremely limited at evening meal for anyone with a plain pallet
Excellent location, friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room, quiet bar. Parking available on a first come basis, but there is a large car park across the road.
Nothing
Breakfast was amazing as were all staff
We liked everything
Lovely little boutique hotel. Very pleasant staff and comfortable nicely decorated room. Pretty outdoor garden and bar. There’s also a Tapas bar right next door. Easy 10-15 15 min river walk from train station. (Much more scenic & flatter than the road way).
Located on a busy road so we could hear traffic constantly 😕.
Everything , food was fabulous and the staff were all really friendly and helpful , great location , carpark a bit tight to get in and out of but we could t fault anything rooms were beautiful . clean and really comfy. Diny in the restaurant was great !
Carpark entrance was tight !
Our twin room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice and the breakfast room itself was beautiful.
Road noise was a down side but as it's positioned right by the bridge and central location to everything it wasn't going to be dead silent!
Perfect stay for a local wedding
Comfy stay, great location, good shower
Nothing
A great small hotel in the heart of Shrewsbury. There is a small car park which is accessible via a very narrow archway which we did not try to negotiate, rather we opted to go to the larger car park just across the road from the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. We had dinner there - the pork loin was absolutely delicious as was the gnocchi. Breakfast was also very good. Our room was on the main road but the traffic was light and we were not disturbed at all, The room was a bit small - cosy one could say- but it was clean, with an excellent shower and we were very comfortable., Overall would definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to you.
Nothing really
Fantastic location super friendly staff and beautiful interiors.
I found the access to the car park quite tight but there are other options really handy. Our room was small and on the front of the hotel, gorgeous room but quite a lot of road noise during the night. Ear plugs were provided but next time I would ask for a room at the back if possible.
The welcome was excellent, my husband was using a stick and we were given a more appropriate room with less stairs for access.
My husband was disconcerted by the lack of a bedside table and the finish around the shower needed attention. I believe that the bath was leaking, although I only used it for the hand shower. We decided to eat a continental breakfast and this was a great disappointment. We have had many varying continental breakfasts, usually being supplied with plentiful quantities of fruit cheese and meat. The fruit was limited to small slithers of melon and segments of orange. There was no fruit compote, cheese or meat. The pastries were small and dry. We had to ask for toast. 2 slices arrived, which, when they came, I found to be inedible as the bread had a very peculiar taste. It was raining and we had to get our luggage to the car, otherwise I would have complained at the cost of £ 23 + .
Location , breakfast staff
Flat pillows , noise from road in evening
The overal ambience was excellent.
Access to carpark was initiallydiffucult to spot when coming over bridge, Shewsbury traffic system bit challenging.
Love the location and charm of the property
Having visited this hotel for over 10 years I was disappointed at our last visit to the u helpful receptionist that was on duty at the time..
Beautiful old building very clean room comfortable large bed very cosy wonderful breakfast
Nothing
Lovely old building with lots of character. This does mean uneven floors and there are stairs up and down to get across even floor so not great if you have mobility issues, but it is also part of the charm. Staff are wonderful throughout hotel and restaurant. Food is great.. they have 2 rosettes well deserved. Location perfect for walking into Shrewsbury which is a lovely town
Only problem was having a room at the front overlooking a busy street. It was noisy at night and from early morning. If we revisit I'd ask for a room at the rear
Beautiful hotel Staff went the extra mile Restaurant food very good quality and reasonably priced for a two red rosette restaurant Breakfast was first class
No bath mat Bed was too soft for me
All very good northing to much trouble would stay again.
Only thing I didn't like were the stairs.but help is available if needed.
Atmospheric old building in central location.
Well located for everthing
Shower curtain over the bath for a shower, and the shower hardly had any power to it and temperature seems intermittent.
Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean
Great location Delicious food
Very good bathtub. Excellent restaurant, including for breakfast. Comfortable and clean room.
The hotel's parking was difficult to use - very narrow.
Central location. Good service. Rooms small but fine.
Very very tight parking at hotel. Meal in Hotel on Sunday evening after busy Sunday lunches average.
The room was pleasant and quiet and a fan was provided which was definitely needed. Great location. The reception staff were friendly.
Breakfast let the experience down - the chef forgot our order and after half an hour waiting we had to go and find the waitress to enquire. She did apologise but would have expected her to notice and also for the chef to appear and apologise.
Clean, bar was great, location is perfect.
The room was far too hot and bed could have been comfier
Friendly staff, comfortable modern rooms sympathetically incorporated into a wonderful old building.Lovely flowers and greenery in a partly covered beer garden.Excellent breakfast.
No air con in the bedroom but a fan provided. Very narrow entrance into the hotel car park- via a gate into a former coach and horses entrance. This is manageable but I was a bit stressed. Several large cars and a van were parked so not a problem if you are careful.
More like the "Lion and Pleasant" am I right?! 😜 Lovely hotel, well decorated throughout with great little touches. The rooms were lovely with great amenities. Super comfy bed, and desktop fan provided during hot weather. Beautiful shower, excellent storage, superb breakfast...the list could go on!
The fact I could only stay 1 night! Thank you, I will be back
An overrated hotel which is certainly not value for money. Reception is a desk in a corner. We climbed up two flights of steep stairs to a small confined stuffy room with a fan. No sir I ditioning and certainly no air. The red haired receptionist was surly and couldn’t be bothered to exchange polite conversation on our leave. No ‘thank you’ , ‘ have a nice day!, ‘hope you enjoyed your stay’. Nothing. No email reply to my enquiries regarding leaving a phon battery in the room.. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay at the Lion and Pheasant hotel in Shrewsbury.
Breakfast excellent
Room top floor
Close to the town centre making the visit easy and enjoyable
Nothing to dislike great value
Good location
The studio felt quite detached from hotel and even though table and chairs outside too close to Road to sit out without a screen
Fantastic full English or pancakes and syrup. Service was friendly and efficient. We'll Lovely
Loved the stables 2 bed and will return. The food was excellent in the restaurant. Location great
The mattress in the single rooms were too soft and I felt the springs. Pillows were lovely tho
All rooms very comfortable and clean, breakfast lovely and staff excellent
It was fine

Excellent loxation- parking very uswful- reception staff very helpful- accommodation excellent

Very friendly, welcoming staff. Good breakfast, great dinner and cocktail. Room comfortable with everything we needed. Good location in the town.
Given that we stayed on the hottest days of the year, the bedroom was obviously very hot but they did their best and provided fans all over the hotel. We had to have the windows open and the nights were quite noisy but, again, not the hotel's fault.
Loved the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast choice was great and covered all options for us. Real old world structure.
The hotel is very old and on the main road into Shrewsbury, obviously with the heat wave we were experiencing we needed the window open. Air con may be difficult to retro fit due to the age of the building.
Atmospheric, good furnishings, pleasantly higgledy piggledy, first floor room directly over the bar but no noise from the bar
Road noise, no air conditioning, windows difficult to open, no offer of help with cases, bathroom needs updating, double bed was small
Quaint, great bar and service and great location - highly recommend
Nothing really
Lovely room, clean and well presented. The team were brilliant and very accommodating.
Good location, however a little noisy.
It’s relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful and plentiful staff.
Was a bit of a maze. Entry to car park challenging.
Location and garden at back
Food choice limited and expensive, small room and no air con, although hotel provided a fan.
Loved this central Shrewsbury hotel, stylish, central, easy parking at the back or NCP opposite, fabulous outstanding breakfast choice -fresh home cooked food, friendly professional staff in a stunning building at the bottom of Wyle Cop close to English Bridge.
Loved everything
The double bed was very comfortable. The Tapas wine bar was very good.
A little noisy in the room at night due to proximity of road.
Dinner/breakfast were excellent. Room was spacious.
Very noisy, even in the middle of the night. Room was very warm at night

Delightful upmarket inn in the heart of Shrewsbury. Lovely vibe and helpful staff.
Very friendly staff Excellent location
No air conditioning
Friendly pleasant staff
Very noisy and lots of changes of level
Friendly staff Excellent location 👍

Excellent location, cute building inside and out. Very clean/modern rooms and decor.
Weather was 30°+ for the 2 nights I was here, room was very hot (as was the whole of England) so more suited to cooler weather. Staff did try and help with a fan for the room.
Very close to my meeting place. The first time I staying in Canary wharf and I think it’s is a nice place. Breakfast at 37th floor.
Clean, looked very nice. Too hot in summer. We had the windows open which meant it was very noise on the Main Street. We were given 2 fans to help us sleep.
Friendly, helpful staff and close to the old town. Good breakfast eve. Though we had to wait a little while for it.
Small room however really clean, comfy bed, hospitality tray, good location with private car park (free). Great location near the river.
Traffic noise was loud and due to warm weather had to have windows open however traffic went quiet after 9pm. Lovely breakfast and staff were attentive and helpful.
Breakfast was excelant
Excellent location for exploring the town. Warm welcome on arrival and friendly, helpful staff. Decor of room fresh and relaxing; super comfy bed. Lovely chilled vibe from bar and dining areas. Good breakfast menu - chef’s homemade granola delicious! Little touches that made a difference like shortbread and fan in room.
Noise from traffic in room overlooking the road could be annoying for some travellers but after a day exploring the town it didn’t bother me.
Super well-situated boutique hotel; small car park but handy public car park just over the road. Warm welcome and staff really friendly and helpful. Decor of room cool and relaxing; really comfy bed; little touches such as shortbread and a fan on in the room when arrived. Didn’t use them but nice chilled vibe coming from restaurant and bar, seemed popular. Lovely breakfast; chef’s homemade granola delicious! Would definitely book again when revisiting the area.
Location was great and facilities were brilliant
Access to the car park is bad. Better to park in the NCP directly opposite the hotel. Cost of NCP is way less than a new paint job!

The facilities, food was excellent, my room and the staff were so helpful

Nice studio apartment and excellent breakfast
Noisy plumbing
We have been to the Lion and Pheasant hotel Shrewsbury this afternoon for afternoon tea. My husband and I love afternoon teas and have had many but may I say todays was the best ever! The sandwiches and savouries were so fresh and tasty and there was plenty of them. The scones were soft and fluffy and we were given plenty of jam and cream. The fancy cakes were very yummy and the pots of fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries were such a nice touch! Everything was presented beautifully! We had as much tea and coffee as we wanted and we were given a pitcher of homemade, ice cold lemonade which was so refreshing. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend this place!!
We stayed in a studio and it was perfect as there was plenty of room, plus there was a sofa so we could sit comfortably (rather than lie on the bed) Food was excellent and the hotel was close enough to amenities but still quiet.
The room needed more air - when we first arrived, it was quite damp smelling until we opened all windows and the door
It is a lovely place. We met friends for dinner and it was convenient to stay the night. Warning- when they say there is a barrier w entrance to the car park, they mean it! I’m glad I wasn’t driving. We stayed in a block just round the corner and we had everything we needed.
The seats in the restaurant are really hard to. Like old school wooden chairs. We went for a long dinner and really struggled. Other than that there was nothing. A lovely place.
Atmosphere
Rooms small Fan in the room was very noisy Couldn’t open the windows To noisy outside
Restaurant and bars
Parking
Great location, staff friendly and helpful. Food wonderful.
Great location and lovely property
Lack of air conditioning. Uncomfortably hot
Great hotel with 2 different restaurant options and very handy for the town centre.
Very limited parking
Convenient location
Very noisy on a busy road
Location, character, breakfast, staff
We had a v small room at the front of the hotel - a bit too small and too much traffic noise
Great communication with the staff ahead of our visit and very good customer service overall. Excellent location to explore Shrewsbury on foot. For a period property, the room was spacious, comfortable, bright, and clean. The bathroom had all expected amenities and hot water was near instant, perfect for a relaxing shower. In the morning the breakfast was very good, with a good choice of continental options plus a hot option.
The biggest issue for us was the noise from the main road outside, even with the windows closed. If you can, ask for a room away from the road at the front of the property, as traffic doesn't seem to stop even during the night. The room was warm but we couldn't open the windows as the noise was unbearable.
Location was excellent, and so was breakfast. Room was on the top floor at the rear, so there was no traffic noise and no noise from other guests.
It was very warm and although there were fans they didn't really cool the room. We had to have the windows open and that meant we could hear conversation in the outside area of the bar below.
Lovely food and ambience
No problems at all
Great location. Staff professional yet very friendly.
Our room was a little tight for space.
Quirky and cool. Nice staff
Tricky parking for larger vehicles.
Very convenient, staff are always very helpful
Location, great breakfast and free carpark
We arrived early but told couldn't check in until 3pm, that was fine. When we returned at 4pm the room allocated to us was no longer available as apparently there was something wrong with it! We were offered a downgrade with money refuded orca free upgrade which wf opted for. This room was on the top floor and was like an oven. The windows opened to the busy street with loud boy racer type cars driving past most of the night. Two very hot uncomfortable nights, I know it was a heat wave and fans were provided but still not enough really.
Didn't stay here but had a light lunch which was excellent. Had a glass of champagne & a Lyonnaise potato starter (+a green side salad) that was sublime. Will be back for more when next in area.
Great location. Has some parking of its own. Well renovated and to a high standard. We had a room in the original stables, later a shop. Great bedroom lamps - like paraffin lamps from times gone past. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was ideal with a fair range of cereals, croissant, etc. Our evening meal was less than perfect as we ordered the Beef Wellington shared for two. Excellent meat in huge slices, not so the pastry or gravy.
Relaxing vibe
A slight issue with the shower being stuck on hot, but I fixed that.
Location and friendly staff
Incomplete set up of breakfast. For example had to ask for water, knife and fork etc . It's as though no one was in control overall keeping an eye on things
Great hotel, location, staff, food was excellent dinner and breakfast
Excellent hotel in a great location with private parking and a great restaurant.
Nothing
Good location & nice staff
Feels a bit forlorn - could do with a refresh
Lovely clean period building. Great location Lovely breakfast
Would of been nice to have a mini fridge for cold water and fresh milk The stairs..bit wet knew about that!
Lovely hotel and perfect location for shops and pubs and restaurants, all staff lovely and very welcoming
Only complaint would be we had a room on the front of the hotel and road can get very busy and noisy and Friday night some idiot decided to race up and down the street numerous times sounds a bit like a race track at night time
Clean. Near to town.
Noisy neighbours woke me early morning.
This is a real gem. The food was beautifully cooked and there was a very good selection. The Prix Fixed meal before 1930 was an absolute bargain. Friendly service made for a great visit.
Great location and staff
Clean
Contemporary twist
Convenient location and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very noisy on the street side of the hotel even with earplugs (provided).
Great food
Traffic noise.
Location excellent food and drinks great the staff and team were lovely and very helpful catering for my sisters dietary requirements
Location
Breakfast was a bit greasy
Location very good for shops and restaurants nearby......not so good as its noisy from traffic and revellers going past the bedroom window. Atmosphere ........some staff really lovely and friendly....others ..not so much. Rooms ok but very hot on a summers day making it uncomfortable to sleep. En suite...really nice. Breakfast very disappointing Fruit salad ......very thin on the ground. Always running out of food. ....ie yogurt, sausage, salmon. Staff slow to replace items ie bread, dishes, butter Considering hotel prices ....def not value for money. Cleanliness of bedrooms .......excellent. However would not book there again
