Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Our stay at Salutmoor was very pleasant. The surrounding area and grounds were beautiful, the building and décor were lovely, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, given the price, I was highly disappointed that access to the spa was not included. Overall, I felt the stay was overpriced for what we received, and based on our experience, I would not choose to stay there again
.
Great location
Nothing
The room. The restaurants
The arrangements with the pool
Relaxing spaces. Facial treatment excellent. Good quality decor, the outside spaces (balcony etc)
The brilliant staff, the location, the accommodation in the Beach House.
Very comfortable, friendly staff, good location and excellent food
Whilst we loved the beach house outside space and bath, sockets and decor, storage for clothes etc was a little lacking. Storage shelf for shower toiletries was too small for the bottles so they had to be stored and reached from the floor when having a shower.
Staff. Room. Location.
Breakfast not that god.
It is beautifully located, nestled in the woods but just a short walk away from the sea. Breakfast was very good and the staff was really friendly.
The room was nice but the armchair had some stains and the paint of the wardrobe was chipped. Not a major inconvenience, but regarding the pricey room rate I would have expected a spotless room. The balcony was also a bit dirty, something I would not expect in that price range.
Beautiful garden, everything new or newly restored, huge and accessible room, elegant decoration, good food, great breakfast. The best is how incredibly helpful and kind the staff is. My mother suffered an accident on our last day and the staff took care of her, drove us to the hospital, organized for our luggage to be picked up at no extra cost. Even before the accident a very kind staff member accompanied us for a tour of the garden to help support my mother who has mobility issues.
Nothing. It's perfect.
Beautiful place and staff couldn’t do enough for you, we wasn’t allowed to use the pool as we booked through booking.com and would be more money so that was disappointing as we’d of booked through the main site if we knew. Breakfast had a wait time and I personally wouldn’t spend the money on the food in the restaurant again. The hotel itself is lovely
The restaurant wasn’t worth it, couldn’t use the facilities as we booked through booking.com
The location and the decor of the hotel
Paying extra for a spa, that actually was not what I expected it to be, very disappointing.
Lovely hotel, beautiful room and very friendly staff
Everything genuinely outstanding.
Nothing about this place was to dislike genuinely outstanding
Staff where lovely very helpful
Amenities overpriced
Lovely position near Whitby and close to the beach.
Rooms are very expensive, spa not included. Room was dark too, and certainly much better places to stay in North Yorkshire around Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood Bay. Sadly they took a £100 credit card deposit from my husband on hold. They then said they’d reimbursed at the end although he had to pay off credit card bill in full not taking into account this £100. It remained pending in his account for 3 weeks and then his bank said it had been registered as a foreign transaction and they weren’t sure how long it would take to come back. He had to pay £100 to stop getting a fine. The service at saltmoore has been atrocious. No record of multiple calls has been made and no reimbursement despite the inconvenience.
Gorgeous and quiet, secluded hotel
Out r dog could get out of the room from the inside so we did have to alter our plans as the doors only lock with a key card, so when he was inside the room he could paw at the handle and the door would release
Lovely decor, very relaxing.
Not having the spa as part of our package and needing to pay extra to access this & small things such a tea stained mugs in the room & slow service in the restaurant.
Staff, food and location and general feeling about the place. Good grounds well maintained.
Internat access was very poor in room 1108. It kept dropping out. Biggest complaint was, and you are following a trend, when you pay the money we did but not to be able to use the adult swimming pool without paying extra I think is deplorable. After we had been out for the day but had a few hours to use before eating it would have added so much more to go for a swim and relax. This is the reason I would not recommend the hotel to my friends.
Friendly staff
Nothing not to like!
Outside patio was lovely, in particular when they have the BBQ and singing entertainment on. Rooms were lovely. Staff friendly and spa looked amazing although we didn't go in. Fancy looking location and grounds and outdoor area with the chill beds.
I didn't realise the spa wasn't included in our booking that I thought was not clear enough. Check if it's included in your booking. Breakfast could have been better given the aspirations of the hotel.
Stunning place to stay and very pet friendly.
Nothing, we like everything
The location was ideal. The gardens were nice
Room was badly finished . Paint on the window, Putty on the bath. There was nowhere to put your clothes our order at breakfast was incorrect on 2 of the three mornings The hotel was not good value for money; £45 for 2 hours in the pool and £15 for glass of Rose was too much after a £300+ charge per night
Our stay at Saltmoore was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered to make our stay feel truly special. The staff were absolutely wonderful so warm, welcoming, kind and attentive throughout our entire stay. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make us feel looked after. They were also incredible with our dog, Hero, who was made to feel just as welcome as we were. It’s such a lovely feeling when a hotel genuinely embraces your four-legged companion, and Saltmoore did this so naturally. Our room was beautiful and incredibly comfortable, with so many thoughtful touches that made it feel personal rather than simply being a hotel room. You could tell that real care had gone into every detail. One of the things I loved most was the option to add extra touches to make a special occasion even more memorable. Being able to arrange the birthday cake, balloons and champagne in advance was amazing, and it made my boyfriend’s birthday feel so personal and thoughtfully planned. When we arrived to see everything beautifully set up, along with the lovely birthday card, it was such a wonderful surprise. These little details made such a big difference and meant we could simply arrive and enjoy the celebration. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the spa was the perfect place to completely unwind and relax. Everything about the experience felt effortless, luxurious and incredibly well considered. Saltmoore is honestly the best place I have ever stayed. It’s rare to find somewhere that gets everything right. The setting, the food, the rooms, the spa and, most importantly, the people. We left feeling so relaxed, happy and incredibly well looked after, and we absolutely cannot wait to come back. Thank you to the entire Saltmoore team for making our stay so special. You have created somewhere truly magical. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great bedroom, nice and big!
The limited hours for the kids pool on the Monday, especially considering it's the school holidays and there was no lifeguard! The bistro food was overpriced, the standard was okay but the prices high!
The most uncomfortable beds i have ever experienced in a hotel and dinner & breakfast was cold
Everything was excellent
Nothing
The property is excellent, loved the gardens and distance to the beach The breakfast was very good
It is tired considering how new the building is. Litter on floor and has a feel of not been looked after.
It’s in a lovely quiet, wooded location and during the August 2026 heatwave was a welcome retreat just 2 miles away from crowded Whitby. Our classic rooms were beautiful with small balconies overlooking the gardens. Huge comfortable beds, lovely fridge with fresh milk and water, great coffee, biscuits and teas. The staff were relaxed and friendly, always happy to help. The gardens were beautiful despite the heatwave, lots of pretty pathways to explore.
The room rate is expensive and you have to pay extra for the Spa unless you’ve booked a package through the hotel which we’ll do next time. The Beach house pool was way too crowded in the August school holidays. Be prepared for intermittent Wi-Fi and poor mobile signal (just the location I think not the hotel’s fault) It was relaxing to choose and have breakfast served to the table but the food wasn’t exceptional, coffee was excellent though. We ate out most evenings as the brasserie prices were exceptionally high and there was a lovely sea food pub at Sandsend.
Beautiful room, air conditioning in the beach house which was perfect in a heat wave, staff were all most professional and friendly making us feel comfortable from arrival. Breakfast was such a treat too. Dinner was great too. Did not use the spa or pool as we were visiting friends but everyone else seemed to be having a great time.
The cost of the room at over £340 was a tad high. We were not there for the spa or pool which maybe why I object to the room price.
Very pleasant room. Clean with lovely touches eg fridge, robes etc. Excellent location for where we like to visit on the east coast. Breakfast was tasty with good selection of hot and cold options. Service was good. Lovely walks around the hotel, especially during the summer. Generally staff were helpful and friendly.
Confusing at time of booking as to fact hotel is divided into two with approx 300 yards between them. We were in the garden room area which meant walking to main part for breakfast. Very pleasant on a summer’s morning. Not great to face in the winter. All the other facilities eg spa are also in main part. We had booked accessible garden room which had ‘private’ area to sit out. This is easily overlooked by passers by. Main gripe, however, was EV charger not working, no signal to download necessary app, payment card being declined etc. We spent approx an hour trying to sort. Would’ve been awful in cold dark weather. We mentioned problem to reception on checking out next morning. She said they could’ve helped if they’d known. However, the person on reception the previous evening had implied charging was completely separate to the hotel and managed by a third party. Which is why we didn’t mention it at the time. EV charging facilities was one of key reasons I’d booked the hotel in the first place so all rather annoying.
Very clean and comfortable. High standards throughout. Staff are exceptional. Made very welcome with a genuine desire to make your stay enjoyable.
Our room was everything we wanted - air conditioned and spacious on the ground floor. The buggy service between the Beach House and the main house worked well although the walk was only 5 minutes anyway. Good option when raining!
There are two restaurants on site but The Pizzeria closes on Tuesday and Wednesdays (not shown on website) which made The Brasserie excessively crowded and subject to very slow service. Not a good vibe for a summer family holiday time! Also, the bathroom didn't have anywhere hygienic for toothbrushes and neither did it have an electric razor socket.
Rooms was wonderful, staff especially Claire were helpful. Lovely visit
Only feed back would be more umbrellas for outside space at Beach House
Front desk staff friendly, design of interiors were beautiful and gorgeous grounds
Felt very overpriced for what it was, breakfast was OK but seemed minimal especially considering price and the hot food upon order was not great. Some uncomfortable interactions which could have been avoided e.g. staff consistently sat us right next to other clientele despite empty restaurants (happened twice!) which seemed odd. Sound seemed to really travel at night, we were constantly woken up by people walking on floorboards directly above. Would have preferred a bit more attention to detail with cleaning, we saw cobwebs throughout the hotel; our hot tap didn’t work and there was no AC in the rooms but a fan was provided. Note spa access isn’t included if booked via third party although this was communicated. Just not what you expect for a luxury stay… Budget, maybe!
Evening meal was good however expensive
Breakfast was poor with substandard produce The room was not well insulated, could hear other people’s conversations while we were in our room
Friendly attentive staff lovely facilities good rooms and fab breakfast. Had the chateaubriand evening meal was sooo good.
It was all good
Amazing location. Loved our room. Only a short walk to the beach. Easy walking distance to Whitby.
N/A
Breakfast was poor. I had açai bowl and it was as if they’d got it straight from a freezer, way too cold to eat and small. Partner had the French toast, this was a bit soggy but ok.
Being charged a service charge on top of drinks bought at the bar in the brasserie (having queued for them myself).
Beautiful relaxing room, gorgeous pork shoulder ragu and tiramisu. Lovely room with balcony and little touches such as quality coffee and fresh milk were much appreciated. My new favourite place, set in wonderful surroundings.
All the staff were excellent - professional and friendly We enjoyed all of our meals in the Brasserie - the chef was kind enough to write out a recipe for me The hotel is well designed and landscaped - very stylish interiors We walked to Sandsend one afternoon and into Whitby the following morning
Our room was on the top floor with only skylights - no windows or view! No air conditioning in our room As we booked using Booking.com the extra cost to use the spa facilities was £45. It was an additional £10 just to use the gym. We were telephoned the day before arrival to ensure we were aware of this.
Location in the Woods was fabulous plus short walk to Sandsend beach was super. Beach house was brilliant for families. We had a suite it was lovely and spacious. Nice welcome drinks and snacks . Beach House staff were lovely especially the lady who checked us in, really happy and helpful. Great atmosphere. The splashpool was great too for the teenagers who couldn't use the spa facilities . Facilities and showers were brilliant.
Staff not as helpful in the main building. Tried to get a table for bbq Thursday evening and was told an outright No on arrival. It was 6.45pm when we arrived at the Terrace. The teenagers were disappointed so we had to drive to Whitby for dinner. Also a long wait at breakfast for hot food Friday morning , over an hour as noone asked us for our order. We were just unlucky probably but it clouded the stay as the Beach House Suite was perfect and the staff there.
Everything was great, the staff really makes this place special as everyone makes you feel welcome and helps to make your stay better
Nothing! It was brilliant
It was luxury at its finest. The room was amazing and we honestly didn't want to leave. The staff were exceptional
The full English breakfast was slightly disappointing (the bacon was very crispy), however, this was the only fault, and I am sure if I would have stated this at the time they would have rectified it. They were all so happy to help and make it a great experience
The room was very comfortable
All ok
Receptionist was absolutely lovely. Welcoming and warm which gave a great 1st impression. The food and drink was beautiful. The rooms lovely crispy and clean and spacious. Beautiful surroundings
It took 30 mins to actually get seen for our order. The table outside are not practical for food . They shouid give table and chairs to people eating and patio set tables which is lower just for drinks. . Waitress need to pay more attention to customer. I had to go find them .
A fantastic long weekend at one of the best UK hotels we’ve stayed in. Everything was perfect.Hust wished we’d stayed longer.
Nothing
Property location was great, easy walk to the beach and very peaceful. The rooms were of a good standard; with nice bedding and space. The spa was excellent in terms of quality and facilities. Breakfast was also fantastic. Great kids pool available.
There were some practical elements where it’s clear the customer journey hasn’t been considered - for example very limited clothes storage/hanging. The food in the pizzeria in the beach house was pretty poor; fresh pasta had no flavour and was a solid lump, pizza fairly average and serving staff stretched too thinly/appeared lacking in knowledge and training. Overall the staff at the hotel were pleasant but very few seemed invested in going above and beyond. We also had a couple of staff be rude or not accommodating - for example the refusal to combine tables or bring an extra chair at breakfast. Our main issue was that the website represents a luxury experience and this doesn’t necessarily deliver on personal apartment from certain aspects, like the spa. It therefore doesn’t feel like the pricing is pitched at the appropriate level and the level of finesse and attention to detail just isn’t there yet.
The food was excellent
Location. car parking, reception, room, bar.
Great location and the excellent room.
The quality of breakfast ingredients and undercooked eggs and bacon.
Very comfortable and high quality. Outstanding dinner and great breakfasts. Staff were all superbly attentive and friendly
The policy of charging £45 p/person to use the spa. Cannot justify that for a morning swim. Is the only question about going back there vs the other hotel we use in N Yorkshire which does not have that policy.
Super place very chilled. Brilliant recovery massage in the spa.
Nothing.
Room and bathroom were comfortable. Nice to have balcony doors to open. Good to have shower and bath. Lovely breakfast, everything you could wish for.. Situated in lovely area. Good complimentary beverages and biscuits
Brick wall on balcony hiding any view. Having to go to main hotel for breakfast.. Coffee, tea, kettle, etc hidden in a wardrobe alongside where you hung your clothes Bedroom door rattled everytime someone walked past. Wardrobe door hit the bedroom door on opening. Too hot in the Pizzaria due to the glass roof making it difficult to enjoy meal. Lack of information re local area
Very contemporary and well designed. Comfortable rooms, lovely pool and changing facilities.
We have stayed with saltmoore many times. Always friendly welcoming staff. Thank you
Beautiful, luxury stay. Service and facilities all top notch. Location perfect. Stayed in a balcony room at the Beach House - huge room, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable.
Nothing!
Atmosphere, cleanliness, staff
Wish the spa was included
Our room was beautiful and all staff fantastic.
Earlier check in
Family friendly vibe and fantastic food
Price on the high side, but you can’t what to pay for
Position. Excellent welcoming staff. Beautiful hotel. .nice touches like celebratory prosecco and desert
Spa and Restaurants.
Ventilation in room was very poor and reception was very self help. The first impressions were poor with a long walk to car park and no one outside of or in reception to help with bags. There is a sign with a number to ring and once you are checked in the offer of help is there but then it’s too late. The room windows opened 3”!! No air conditioning but a fan but this doesn’t improve air quality, just recirculates it. I assume it’s a health and safety issue to restrict the opening but really sub standard in terms of a quality experience.
Beautiful hotel, the location is tucked away but Whitby is only a 5 minute drive away.
Nothing
Room simply decorated but clean, spacious, comfortable and had everything you’d need. Breakfast was delicious. Yoga was very good.
The breakfast buffet was very poorly lit and the signs were all low down so made the process of getting what you wanted quite awkward.
Setting is beautiful, quiet and well maintained
Water pressure from shower was very poor. Toilet did not have a proper seat cover. Lack of atmosphere Exorbitant charge to use the swimming pool
We stayed in the beach house which is separate from the main hotel property, the room was spacious and modern with a good shower and balcony. The cleaning could have been better, there were hairs in the bathroom and the floor needed a clean, but apart from that it was fine. The beach house does feel a bit remote in terms of the proximity to the main hotel and if you aren't very mobile you do need to be driven in the golf buggy for breakfast in the main building. (This wasn't an issue though and the buggies were available all of the time) The staff were very friendly and helpful, you can see that they enjoy working there which is nice. The main building is nice, beautiful decor and the flowers in the grounds are absolutely stunning.
There isn't much atmosphere in the Beach House and it is a bit devoid of any character, which is very different to the main building. The breakfast offering is quite limited, the continental is basic and the hot food was ok but not warm which was a shame. Based on the breakfast I wouldn't want to eat here in the evening so we went out for dinner. The spa is very small and basic and considering you have to pay an additional fee per person to use it is definitely not worth the price.
Location is amazing
Maybe a few more car parking spaces to the front by the beach house.
Location
That on booking.com your spa/pool was not included in the price.
Very good restaurant and grounds around the main hotel. The Beach House looked a little tired in places (our room door was not properly painted).
More attention needed around the presentation of the beach house building
Excellent room, facilities, staff and food. Stayed in a dog friendly room with an outside bath which was very comfortable and great for the dog. Staff in the beach house were all very friendly and helpful.
Restaurant and overall extras were a touch pricey. Staff in restaurant and the terrace area could be more attentive, not quite up to expectations when paying top prices.
Good location and facilities
Seriously expensive , good quality but the extra charges for simply using the spa/pool made it feel overpriced with a slightly disappointing bistro menu … £55 for a 10 oz ribeye is high when only one side dish included
The staff are exceptional- so helpful and friendly- great facilities, fantastic location- great food and excellent spa
Could not find any fault!
Lovely, spacious, modern room with balcony overlooking woodland. Beach House stay.
Not keen on dogs as I have an allergy.
Excellent staff. Great facilities. Very tasty breakfast . Very clean and peaceful
There wasn’t anything
Stayed here before, originally in the hall, second time in the beach house, much prefer. Rooms more modern and brighter. Breakfast was lovely but no deviation from the menu at all. I would have liked a plain omelette, but there wasn’t any other option. My partners only option was the full English, that is just personal taste.
I would have liked to use the spa, but was informed it was an extra 45 pp to use as we’d booked through booking.com, not worth it for the time we had.
It's absolutely incredible that such a luxury hotel actually caters for your dog and treats them as part of the stay! For example, we got a special sausage for the dog at breakfast. We were slightly sceptical if it would be worth the money for a stay with our dog however it is absolutely worth it!
Very very little to criticise. Take this as someone who is trying to find things to criticise. We went during a heat wave and the lodge we stayed in got very warm. Air con would be fantastic however a fan was provided.
Great staff , comfortable rooms , lovely food .
Breakfast very busy , staff excellent just to many people at the same time
The cleanliness of the property was superb. The staff were very helpful.
Amazing location, staff and hotel
Nothing
Away from the main town. In greenery and near the beach.
The extra cost to use the spa.
We had the most wonderful time at Saltmoore for my partner’s birthday weekend. The hotel could not have done enough for us to elevate our experience. It’s such a beautiful place with wonderful facilities and charm. We didn’t want to leave. Food was fantastic and every staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. I particularly enjoyed the morning yoga session on Sunday before our delicious breakfast. Can’t wait to return. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.
Staff were vey friendly and made to feel welcome.
Very poor sleep, the room we was in was right next to an internal door so sleep was VERY disturbed, cups in room still had tea stains across the saucers and hairs in the bathroom. Expected a lot better for what we paid.
Excellent location, beautiful grounds, loved our room with the outdoor bathtub. All the staff were very helpful in all areas of the hotel and nothing was a problem, quality of the food was also very good. Some areas we have highlighted need improvement all in all our stay was a very enjoyable experience even much so we added an extra night whilst we were there as an added treat!
Although the food was very good it is extremely expensive, £20 for a sandwich plus 12% service fee is pretty wild & extreme. The evening meal experience was also very nice but again the cost is disproportionate and hard to justify. We were also very disappointed to be told we had to pay an extra £45 each to use the swimming pool, we found this rather cheeky considering we’d already paid a high rate for the room. Hotels we have previously stayed in, (Low Wood Bay in Windermere for example) offer the pool to guests for free who do not want to use the spa, they offer this service early morning and in the evening which causes no disruption to Spa guests, £45 for a swim is not justified in anyone’s book and seems to be used to deter guests from using the amenities unless wanting to use the Spa facilities and treatments. We were also disappointed to find out we were charged an extra £25 per night for our small dog after already paying more for a dog friendly room we felt we were charged twice for our dog? On a more guided and constructive note, we noted a few areas of the hotel and grounds where the odd finer details are starting to slip and could be easily addressed ie the gutters on a few buildings are overgrown with weeds, the pavers are also suffering slightly with this in the gardens and a few areas are showing needing a small amount of maintenance (maybe nitpicking but attention to detail covers all areas). All in all a beautiful hotel with lovely staff but the management need to address some of the issues ourselves and some of the other reviewers have highlighted which would give it full marks!!
We stayed at the beach houses and the room was beautiful. Really comfy bed and lovely peaceful balcony view.
Beach House was light , bright and spacious.
Some of the staff were smiling and helpful. Too many not so much . The drinks were overly expensive and the bar was insufficiently stocked in the Beach house ( no brandy ) . Our spacious room did not have enough hanging space,no drawers and no shaving mirror in the bathroom .
The room was clean and spacious.
There was no hotel guide in the room. I'm not sure if there is a hotel manager as the staff were very unprofessional. As an example, we arrived late afternoon and went to the hotel bar and garden for a drink. There were two staff at the bar and went went to sit outside. We sat there for 15 minutes and no one came and asked us if we wanted a drink. I went to the bar to asked for a drinks menu, then went back outside so my wife could choose. Another 15 minutes passed and again, no one came out to take our orders. This was the experience throughout the hotel. The staff in the beach house were helpful but overall a very bad experience. Everyone at the hotel needs to attend a customer service training course. I certainly wouldn't stay there again.
Beautiful and clean and well appointed very modern
Shame had to pay extra for spa facilities, but I didn’t have the time anyway
Everything about our stay was excellent, there was a few issues but the staff handled everything perfectly which is why marked it a 10
Nothing , I not into writing negativity because I can see that everyone cares about the property and it shows.
Excellent room and food, very friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed in the ‘beach house’ which was separate from the main building. Any other name would have suited this building better.
Beautiful location and surroundings
Expensive for food and drink on site

Overall very good, the deck on balcony could be cleaner (grass, leaves and some debris, dogs hair perhaps on the deck). Room clean but I've notice dog smell. Breakfast excellent, staff helpful and kind.
On advertise you are offering swimming pool, I've been given children swimming pool which was shallow and small. I was hopping to swim in bigger venue.
The room was clean and spacious and the air conditioning in the Beach House was a life-saver. The restaurant at the main hotel served good food. The buggy service from the Beach House to the main hotel was helpful.
There are a few inconsistencies in what is provided for example glasses/plastic beakers are needed in the bathroom, a seat / dressing table / desk area could easily be accommodated in the room to make it more comfortable and useful for dressing and somewhere to put teabags and other items after using the coffee / tea facilities would be good. The bar at the Beach House needs upgrading to offer a full range of drinks.
Very clean, very comfortable. The room had everything we needed, was delightfully decorated and spacious. The gardens were nice and breakfast was excellent.
We ate at the pizzeria and it was very disappointing for the price. We ordered the focaccia to start and this was two thin slices which were mostly air, though they did come with a nice balsamic and oil dip. We both ordered pizzas which came obviously well overdone and we had to send them back. When they did arrive they were pretty bland and had very little Parma ham despite us paying extra for this. It may be a little thing but when the bill comes close to £100 for pizza we expected a treat. We were also looking forward to visiting the swimming pool. We had to ask 4 members of staff before we found out that it would be £45 each for a swim on top of the £265 per night room charge (the first had told us it was free).
Property was beautiful
How the bar wasn’t really open & couldn’t get food after 19:30
Everything was very good
Service at breakfast incredibly slow. Customers were protesting.
Lovely ambience and spacious rooms. Plenty of parking. Good restaurant and one of the best breakfasts you can ever have.
Someone had been smoking in our room prior to our visit. Bad smell in room and cigarette butts on the patio!
We had a good room. Comfortable, clean and with a good woodland view.
The breakfast was very average. A good choice of cooked food but a limited buffet selection. Not terrible but Premier Inn standard and not value for money.. The food in the Pizzeria was very poor - we left most of the food and then drove into Whitby to find something better. Were woken up at 6am by children running and shouting. Overall, it’s OK but very overpriced.
Beautiful location and grounds. The decor is tasteful with some lovely details especially the floral arrangements. The rooms in the beach house are nicely decorated but nothing special.
The staff were nice but needed some training to get the details right, how they addressed you or answered a query needed to be a bit more sophisticated. The food from The Pizzeria and breakfast could be vastly improved for a hotel of that level. There weren’t any locks on the inside of bedroom doors so I didn’t feel safe.
The grounds are incredible, location is great.
The staff in general were good, however every morning we were sat at a small table for 2, when there was 3 of us and we had to go up and ask every time for cutlery etc for our toddler. Parts of the room were a little worn e.g carpet was frayed and stained. The room we booked was not very toddler friendly, so I’d be curious if others are better (there were stairs in the bedroom with no door and the main door couldn’t be properly locked so our toddler could run out). None of the things were a big deal, just not what I would have expected for the price.
Gardens at the back.
Our room felt it was in a secondary building (main building 5 mins walk away) and behind reception Spa wasn’t as good as photos Very grumpy bar man. Made everything an effort
