Downtown hotel with parking. Very clean and comfortable facility. Restaurant had a good selection for dinner. Food was excellant! Breakfast also had a good selection of food. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Enjoyed our stay there.

TV in room very small and not very many channels to watch. Bed also quite small, even for a double!! Shower over bath, we prefer walk-in showers, especially as we are getting older.

Everything about this hotel is excellent. Lovely area and a massive car park for a start. The real asset of this place is the staff however. Nothing is too much trouble and the service is friendly, first class and old fashioned in the best sense of the word. Breakfasts are excellent and there is none of this nonsense of cooking your own toast, spooning out your own beans or making your own tea from scratch with one of those infernal coffee contraptions. They obviously think it’s worth paying someone to bring you your breakfast and the ingredients were top quality. They can be busy at mealtimes but they look after residents well. We needed a quick sandwich and it was no trouble at all.

The initial receptionist was welcoming and clearly communicated her message relating to the parameters involved in the service the hotel provided. This included the timeframe for the provision of meals whether evening dining or breakfast.

It was timely that the hotel informed the guest that the hotel was in the process of replacing the beds in the hotel because the bed was short and uncomfortable (lumpy). Nonetheless the bedroom was spotless and the provision of complimentary tea, biscuits and bottled water was a nice touch.

Unfortunately there was a generator or fan noise we could hear all night long,shutting the windows helped a bit,and we did eventually sleep,but it was then very warm in room,I understand hotels need these machines,but it would really help if they were switched off overnight.

It was lovely, very clean and the staff were very polite and very helpful. Will definitely stay there again 😃

The location is superb. Such a lovely area of Aberdeen.You can talk a nice walk to the Centre or a short taxi ride. There is a car park, a massive one! The staff are first class. We needed a quick sandwich in 30 mins and it was done despite it being restaurant hours , I have forgotten the name but it was Sat 4th at teatime so thank you to the lovely lady in charge of the restaurant that day. Also at breakfast there was none of this nonsense of making your own tea at those infuriating coffee machines or serving your own dried up eggs. Plated up and delivered to your table which is what I want for my money!!

Food was excellent at breakfast and evening meal.. Staff work very hard, look smart, friendly and very helpful. Not been for two years and like the improvements to the bathrooms and bar toilets. Smartened up in the public areas so looks very nice. It was nice to be visiting again. Location is very good with a bus stop metres away. Parking very good too.

My only criticism is the dated furniture, furnishings and decor in the bedroom we had. Because it's an old building our bed was sloping and it was quite uncomfortable so I didn't sleep very well. Maybe offer a bed topper for added comfort. I'm guessing the bedrooms will be updated however it will take some time to complete any refurbishments.

L’odore di cibo nelle parti comuni era veramente fastidioso . Volevamo cenare al ristorante hotel , ma l’ odore del cibo era troppo pesante. Per un 4 stelle la camera era un po’ piccola e mancava il frigorifero . Moquette dappertutto . Ascensore molto lento , ma almeno c’era.

Lovely old building but well maintained. Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Room was spacious and clean and the bed was super comfy. The best bit was the fluffy towels! I fully recommend the Atholl so much so I booked a room for my friends before I left.

We ate at the hotel restaurant on the Friday night and i ordered the steak. It was hugely disappointing. The quality of it was of a very poor standard, really fattyand was overcooked. The onion rings were extremely oily and the chips seemed like very cheap frozen chips with zero taste.

Das Essen im Hotelrestaurant. Das Thai Curry war leider nicht gut. Aber es haben viele Leute dort gegessen, die mit anderen Gerichten anscheinend zufrieden waren. Ins Zentrum muss man mit dem Auto fahren.

Rooms were large, with a proper dressing table, mirror and plug, and the bed was super comfy, with lovely crisp white bed linen. Friendly staff. Great full Scottish breakfast. Communal areas were comfy, and the public toilets were fresh refurbished and modern. Big carpark, and handy central location. Spotlessly clean.

I had very good cooked breakfast. Rich and tasty.

Dinner was fine, nothing more - I ordered a hamburger. I asked to make it Mediud - they said we make them all the same. The total dish was OK, but the hamburger itself was very dry. To get to my room, I had to go upstairs, walk through several corridors, and go downstairs again every time I went in and out of the room.

Schönes altes Hotel, gute Räumlichkeiten, nette Bar fürs Bierchen, gemütlich. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren lecker. Beim Abendessen gab es eine kleine Vergesslichkeit des Personals, die aber durch eine nette Kulanz wieder ausgebügelt wurde. Kostenloser großer Parkplatz hinter dem Haus. Ganz toll fand ich die vielen wunderschönen Bilder, die im ganzen Hotel hängen. Nettes Personal. Wir sind mit dem Bus in die Stadt gefahren, der nah beim Hotel hält. Man könnte auch ca 30 Minuten laufen. Wir würden wiederkommen, auch wenn das Hotel nicht ganz zentral liegt.

Bis auf den kleinen fauxpas (Starter wurde vergessen) beim Abendessen hat uns alles sehr gut gefallen.

La disponibilità del parcheggio gratuito situato proprio dietro all’hotel e il ristorante al suo interno aveva dei piatti molto buoni! La camera ed il bagno spaziosi!

We had an unexpected trip to Aberdeen back in May, due to one of our friends (a couple visiting from Australia) having been airlifted from Shetland, following a suspected heart attack. We drove up from Herefordshire to 'rescue' them by car, given the friend was not permitted to fly or even carry his own luggage. Our friends managed to book us a room in their hotel and we stayed for three nights. The Atholl is in a good location - walkable distances to both the city centre and the hospital. It's a lovely building, and generally we found the staff to be friendly and efficient. The free parking was a bonus. The hotel is probably due for a refurb sometime in the next few years as it's looking quite dated, but our room was perfectly comfortable and very clean, with nice bedding and towels. The one disappointing issue was the lack of 'real' coffee in the room - only sachets of instant. Most hotels these days have either a pod machine or a cafetière, or there's a communal coffee machine somewhere on the premises where you can help yourself to a cup of the proper stuff. A small thing for most people, but for us it's crucial! We ate dinner in the hotel on our first night, and it was nice enough, but nothing special (not that we were expecting amazing things from a moderately sized hotel). Breakfast was also generally good, with a selection of hot options cooked to order. I have to say the continental options were fairly basic. In the room information folder the breakfast described 'a range of pastries', however the only things on offer each day (the same each day) were croissants and traditional buttery rowies, which we are familiar with from many trips to Scotland. Unfortunately, both of these were not good, and in fact on our final morning it was abundantly clear that we were being offered stale croissants from the day before. Whether that was somebody's error, or the kitchen trying to contain costs or maybe the hotel was let down by its supplier... in any event, the croissants should not have been served. Overall I can recommend the Atholl and would happily stay there again. I understand the hotel staff were incredibly helpful to our friends in their unfortunate circumstances. However there is room for improvement.

Hotel was chosen in very difficult circumstances because of its proximity to Aberdeen Hospital. The facilities were excellent but the outstanding staff make the hotel special. All our expectations were exceeded. Hope to revisit in better circumstances.

It was very close to the hospital which is why I chose it. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was very good.

The situation of my room was awkward for a 74 year old with a stick to get to. Although the lift went up to the first floor, I then had to go up and down some stairs in order to find my room. To be fair I didn't ask for an accessible room but perhaps my room could have been changed on seeing my obvious lack of mobility.

The only issue as a person who struggles a bit on stairs was the fact that my room,although on the ground floor required the use of the lift to the first floor followed by a staircase down to the room. Not ideal, but I managed. However if the lift wasn't there or out of action I would have really struggled.

It is a traditional Scottish Hotel where the hotel property is maintained to a high standard to give its authentic Scottish ambience. The Manager and staff are extremely friendly ,polite and helpful . The stay was a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
