Goeie parkeerfaciliteit
Bij ons werkte het toilet niet goed.
The accommodation we had was a cabin and excellent for us as we had 3 labs. Staff gave excellent service and spoilt the dogs. Food was excellent
Nothing
Comfortable rooms- ground floor extension next to car park - bed was large and very comfortable, facilities good- pub is cosy and breakfast good
The noise of traffic early morning as pub situated on a fairly busy road
可以
Great location, close to town with free parking. Attentive lovely staff and excellent food. Clean and comfy room.
Comfortable room with ensuite. Easy parking.
Limit choice at breakfast for those not wanting full English. Particularly poor choice of cereals and no natural yogurt. No porridge choice.
Character place with great service by excellent staff. Really enjoyed our stay.
I love the location. The cottages are spacious and comfortable.
It would be good to have easier access into the cottages with a small ramp if possible.
Close to Rye. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Room was shabby and cold. Needs re dec .
Great location, pub was lovely with amazing food / breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful!
The double bed felt like two singles together so wasn’t to comfy but that’s the only thing everything else was great!
Super self contained lodges in the car park
Ruime kamer goed ontbijt
We had a lovely one-night stay at The Kings Head in Rye. The hotel has a really charming, cosy atmosphere and is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful town of Rye. Our stay was very comfortable, and the staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect place for a relaxing overnight break, with plenty of character and a lovely atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Would definitely recommend The Kings Head for anyone looking for a charming and enjoyable stay in Rye!
Nothing
Rooms comfortable but bathrooms a little tired imo
Only issue was tired bathrooms
Great breakfast 10 min walk from Rye up the hill.
Cramped bathroom in need of refurbishment.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was large and comfortable, across the car park forecourt. Breakfast was good value.
The bathroom was a little tired.
Great bar area and very good breakfast
Room was hot and bed was not comfortable.
Room was big. We had supper there and breakfast. Both were well presented and of good quality, with supper being particularly good value for money. The waitress in the evening did a good job particularly as there was a larger family celebration going on. Throughout our stay the staff were excellent. The hotel is a pleasant downhill walk to Rye
The bedroom was a little dated with rattly windows, but generally nice, but something like a standard lamp would enhance the lighting. The TV was a bit small relative to the room. ....It is also a harder walk uphill from Rye!
Beautiful bedroom with a very comfortable bed! Excellent breakfast and smiley staff. Thank you!
It was all perfect
De plek in Rye was top. Lekker rustig. Mooi houten chalet.
Unterkunft ok.
It was ideally situated for getting into Rye and the surrounding areas. Property looked good and was clean and tidy
Car park could be bigger and better organised with clearly marked parking bays
The room was a good size.
Echt niets
Large rooms
Disappointing evening meal
The room we had was comfortable and very clean.
Breakfast was OK but toasts were burnt. We also ate at the pub the previous night. The environment and service were great but unfortunately all the roast dinner vegetables were overdone and the gravy, clearly beef based, with did not go with the pork.
Nice size rooms. Free parking. Comfortable bed with clean linen. The colour of the room looked recently painted white which looked fresh. Nice pork belly dinner. Not too far away from Rye. Room includes iron/ironing board & hairdryer. Water/tea/coffee replaced in rooms daily.
Bathroom toilet seat and shower rails need replacing as rusty. A little TLC for minor things, such as maintenance of flooring and attachments in bathroom, outside lights - could do with a dust off, as covered in cobwebs. Window blinds and floor needed a good clean. Bedroom furniture was peeling (looks like it’s covered in tin foil). Parking for individual cottages needs signposting to stop other people parking directly outside the room you are staying in, this was particularly annoying. Big hill to climb from Rye so no good if you struggle walking, we didn’t mind this exercise though. Just small attention to detail would improve the situation. Breakfast was hit and miss, not so great on days 1&2 but much better on days 3&4. Did not impair our visit but if these little things were improved, it would have enhanced our stay. Great place if you have a dog not so great if you’re not a dog lover. We don’t mind dogs but personally don’t want them next to me when I’m eating. However, it was made clear this venue was dog friendly. Staff were pleasant and friendly.
The lady who checked us in was very welcoming and helpful, answering any questions we had and being very accommodating. The room had lots of natural light (which helped as we were getting ready for a wedding). The bed was comfortable and check-in and check-out was very easy.
Unfortunately, the room wasn't overly clean, it didn't look as though the floor had been cleaned fully and the bathroom felt a little dated/run down. The towels also weren't overly clean either. The main issue was that our toilet was leaking, there was a wet puddle around the base of the toilet which was unhygienic - we did report this to the team and they said someone will look into it. All this considered we felt the room was overpriced for what we got.
Location Parking convenient Very friendly staff Good size cottage/room
Breakfast was great
Mattress very uncomfortable and toliet was very noisy
Nice walk into town, close to a lovely pub/restaurant and well priced. Staff were very friendly
Rooms are a bit dated, locals were a bit cliquey.
A fantastic find on our first visit to Rye! Staff very friendly, food great and the room (cottage) we stayed in was a lovely size and very relaxing. Location of hotel is great, straight down the hill to town and 7 min drive from the harbour and nature reserve. Think this will become a regular place for us to come and bring our dog. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful stay!
Everything was great (apart from that climb back up the hill from town, lol).
Room was lovely and spacious, great location and lovely breakfast
Carpets need a clean. Dinner food was awful and very slow
Great location for an easy walk in to Rye ( on a hill , so a bit of a trek back). Lovely staff , very nice breakfast . We had a really big, comfortable, bed and a very large room with large bathroom. . Clean but poorly maintained Bsr and restaurant areas nice . There was a quiz night one of the nights we were there and we were contacted prior to our stay and offered a table in the snug if we wanted to eat which was good customer service and thoughtful.
We had a garden view room ... deceptive as on a main road too ( we dont mind traffic noise, so not a problem for us) overlooking a rather shabby area with benches and very run down chairs . All the garden areas were poorly maintained and needed a good sweep ..even the front door is surrounded by weeds and gives a very poor impression. Plastic flower baskets also gives an impression of lack of pride in the place . Our room, though large , had rippled and stained carpet, stains on bathroom floor from metal toilet roll holder, poorly maintained grouting. Public area hallway and stairs has worn carpet and grubby looking handrail. Such a shame that the lack of tlc and maintenence at this hotel means we would never chose to stay there again
Friendly staff, good location, comfy beds, nice food.
Nothing really, little bit of tlc needed around the place but not a major issue.
Breakfast super, good bit of space in rm for family/kids. Cars right outside but v quiet so not an issue except the view
Slats on pull Out bed broke, loose loo seat, no fan in steamy bathroom. Tv remote a bit episodic with working!
Amazing welcome and the bar staff were friendly and made you welcome.
No instructions for the electric shower. Television not working. Departure was swift and no discussion about our stay.
Very traditional and quirky.
Windows closed gave about the same result, noise wise, as closed. Walking into the city is feasible, but takes a while.
Staff very friendly comfortable and clean room
Lovely little pub, great location, walk into Rye town is all down hill, the walk up isnt great but i made it lol Food in the Kings head is delicious, staff are amazing, cant fault our stay.
The only thing i can say is that the bed was a little too soft for us. Honestly i cant fault it.
The bit we stayed in was more like a motel. It was light and airy. Our evening meal was proper pub grub, not posh nosh. The full English breakfast was good.
Although the room looked to have been freshened up with new white paint on the ceiling and walls, a touch of colour might have made the room a little more cosy. Sadly the shower enclosure had black mould on the grouting, which made it look a bit grubby. The room was well equipped with an iron, ironing board, fan, and hanging rail for clothes, but there was no cupboard or wardrobe to hide it all in which made that corner of the room messy and untidy.
Nice crew, good food, location at the road not ideal, but very close to town. We had a great trip
Super atmosphere….. quiet room … perfect for our four legged friend … Superb breakfast

BREAKFAST AND EVENING MEAL IN THE PUB WAS VERY GOOD
ROOM WAS TIRED NEED A TIDY UP BUT WAS CLEAN . CLEAN TOWELS ETC.
Very comfortable and staff lovely
Friendly staff. Spacious room, very good food.
Bathroom needs a refresh as starting to look tired. Some thick dust on part of the skirting board behind the chair in the bedroom and the windows need cleaning.
Comfy beds, close to pub, lovely breakfast
Well located for our needs
Our room was very small and grubby, plug sockets were an issue shower curtain a bit old hat and shower temperamental
We were three traveling together to visit the gardens at Sissinghurst & Great Dixter. The Kings Head was perfect place for an overnight stop between the gardens. Our cabin was roomy and comfortable, the staff welcoming and helpful. We would recommend having dinner there, but make a reservation. The menu was surprising varied with excellent entrees even delicious vegetarian fare. We all enjoyed the full English breakfast. If I return to Rye, I would choose to stay there.
Nice staff and lovely breakfast
Not sure. Just something a little off in room layout. But perfectly acceptable for the price.
Aardige mensen, leuke sfeer.
De bedden waren een beetje kort.
Ligging tov Rye
Everything from the lovely cottage room to the exceptional staff was first class. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Couldn't fault The Kings Head Inn. Will definitely be returning one day.
Nothing
Hervorragendes Frühstück Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal Sehr gut ausgestattete Zimmer
Good sized room, clean and comfortable, great shower. Cottage and Lodge were very good, behind the pub away from the road. Staff were all excellent, very accommodating and helpful. Food was good, catered for all diets.
More places to hang towels would be nice.
It was a 10 minute walk into Rye down a hill which wasn't too steep so location was good, we had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant and both meals were good in terms of quality and value for money. The bar/restaurant area was clean and inviting with plenty of outdoor seating if the weather permits. The bedroom furnishing was nice and in keeping with the age of the property. Ample parking. The chalets/log cabins to the rear of the car park looked clean/modern and given they were further from the road would probably be my first choice if we visited again.
Being an older property it did have some issues - the sash windows didn't close properly and were single glazed so they would probably make the room drafty in winter and given the proximity to a fairly busy road did mean traffic noise was an issue. Everything in the bathroom worked but again being an older building they had a macerator on the toilet waste so that was quite noisy and the flooring was suffering from the damp enviroment.
Mooie plek om te overnachten
Large comfortable bed
Rather dark bar areas. Bedroom Very beige
Good breakfast Room comfortable
Car park noisy at night Dark dining room
The breakfast waitress- was exceptional and a credit to herself, parents and employers. Breakfast itself was very good and the bedroom size was very good
Bathroom has seen better days and has the water heater in it - so very warm - but apart from that small thing everything was pretty good.
Ruime cabin, oubollig maar oké voor 1 nacht. Ruime parkeergelegenheid
Lovely setting with the cottage rooms opposite the pub
Wij verbleven 2 nachten.
We occupied a ‘cottage’ at the back of the property which provided a degree of privacy and protection from the busy main road. The outside sitting area was appreciated. Friendly and helpful staff. Evening meals were excellent. Plenty of parking.
Could have been cleaner. The entrance was potentially dangerous (cottage 6). The breakfasts were a bit inconsistent.
Very large and comfortable room. In very good overall condition. Bathroom was a little dated but spacious with an excellent shower. This is a very old building and it’s a pub so there was no air conditioning but a fan was in the room and proved capable of cooling the room despite the heatwave! Friendly staff and a very nice breakfast. Pubs don’t really get much better than this. Highly recommended.
Nothing.
De cottage met voldoende ruimte en faciliteiten
Het ontbijt. Geen buffet. Op is op. Was wel van alles mogelijk.
Great facilities in the Lodge we stayed in. Everything you need for a comfortable stay
No hot water from the bath tap - mentioned this on check out.
The property was not far from the town centre about 10 to 15 minutes downhill walking. Staff were very friendly and food was good.
The room we were staying in was not that clean, especially the bathroom. It had mould in the shower cubicle and hairs on the floor. And on our second night staying at the hotel, a young woman tried to break into our room at about 10pm she said she was sorry and she thought that it was her room. I did ask at reception the next day and they said they had no young women staying at the hotel. We had two nights at the Kings Head.
We stayed in the Champagne room which was spacious and very clean. The location, cost and parking availability were the main reasons for choosing this venue, which were perfect for our needs. The staff were excellent - attentive, efficient and friendly.
If you don’t want a cooked breakfast there are limited options - fruit yoghurts, fruit (bananas, apples and clementines) and small boxes of cereal. My usual would have been a croissant or pastry with a coffee, or natural yoghurt, soft fruits and granola, none of which were available. Also, the milk and fruit juices were not cold enough, but our stay was during a very hot period. The Champagne room was lovely, if I had one criticism it was the carpet, which has worn very thin, particularly around the bed. There was also two dark strips, which I thought I’d done with my case wheels, but on closer inspection these were burns. The en-suite shower was a little tired, the sealant around the bottom of the shower tray was discoloured and the shower head 🚿 didn’t spray out, it sort of gushed out like a tap. None of the above spoiled our stay.
Aardige mensen.
Full of character but modern and cozy
Easy process
Nothing,
Relaxed atmosphere, very comfy bed, quiet, friendly staff, food was excellent
The beach hut room was a bit cramped, the electrical sockets were a bit difficult to access and also seemed a bit loose. The shower tray had some dirt in it.
Room was huge, location great for exploring area (we were guests at a local wedding). Staff were so down to earth and welcoming. I was pregnant and it was hot and very kindly lovely Amy left lots of water bottles outside our room so that when I got back later I had plenty of water! What a lovely thing to do! Breakfast was amazing too!
Nothing.
Very comfortable bed and good supply of tea coffee etc even bottles of water very nice touch
In our cottage the bathroom was the only thing I would change slightly just a little thing like a hook on the back of the door to hang your dressing gown / clothes And the skirting was very dusty and dirty the grouting needed to be cleaned up

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
7.8/10Mixed reports: several guests praised clean towels and generally acceptable rooms, but specific complaints about black mould in shower grout, dust on skirting board and some 'grubby' rooms lower the score.
Service
9.9/10Consistently excellent: numerous reviews highlight very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff; multiple guests said they would return because of the staff.
Location
8.9/10Strong location for access to Rye (short walk, downhill one way) and good parking for cottages; some negatives from road-side positioning and street noise reduce a perfect score.
Room Quality
7.9/10Variable: some cabins described as roomy, light and comfortable with good showers, while other rooms noted as small, tired, lacking wardrobes and in need of refresh or refurbishment.
Amenities
8.4/10Adequate: iron/ironing board, fan, hanging rail, parking and dog-friendly facilities praised; minor lacks (limited towel hanging, no wardrobe in some rooms) prevent a higher mark.
Value for Money
8/10Mixed perceptions: several guests felt it was good value or acceptable for a pit stop, but at least one review called it 'overpriced' and noted small/grubby rooms.
Food and Beverage
9.3/10Strong positive consensus: multiple mentions of very good evening meals, 'proper pub grub', and superb/full English breakfasts; menu praised, including vegetarian options.
Overall Experience
9.4/10Generally very positive: many guests enjoyed their stay, praised staff and food, would stay again or recommend for an overnight stop despite some room-related issues.
