Incredible view and very good food

The loudest hotel I’ve been to. You can hear the metal tables and chairs moved constantly in the terrace. You hear the other bedrooms and most of all everything in the corridor. Soundproofing is urgently needed.

The most beautiful and amazing hotel I have ever stayed at. It was breathtaking and the staff are all so very nice.

We couldn't rest properly. Rooms noisy. Doors slapping constantly from other guest or staff. Terrace/ Restaurant on top of rooms didn't help.

The property was beautiful! Loved the location!! We had an amazing terrace overlooking the water which was breathtaking! Breakfast was delicious and we had dinner one night with a lovely sunset and wonderful food.

Views but whatever.

The terrace (which has the best views and is in all their marketing photos) is off limits to guests, unless you pay $$$$ to have dinner there. Been traveling through Italy for a month and this is the first hotel that did not share information about how to get to the property. They did share information about making dinner reservations at their terrace a day before (sigh). After a full day in Pompeii, we reached Sorrento train station and could not find taxis or buses to get to this place. We called reception multiple times to figure out what to do and it took them a while to answer, then, instead of sending us a taxi or a shuttle or SOMEthing, they made sure to mention that we have to pay for the taxi, and offered a phone number. While we'd been on the streets for 2 hours and had communicated our frustration. The worst part for me was when we finally got to the hotel around 8:30pm, we were greeted with staff yelling at us, being defensive!! one dinner wait staff with blonde hair and beard mocked us, rolled his eyes and muttered things in Italian to the receptionist *right in front of our eyes*. I've never encountered vile customer service like this anywhere else in the world. While trying to find a taxi, we saw several other hotel shuttles picking up and dropping off their own customers. Not Tonnarella, no. Sunrise is at 5 am, their "beach", which you have to pay extra for, opens at 9am =) All this would be irrelevant if this was a normal €200 hotel. After paying close to $500 a night to stay here, I was expecting a much more carefree, pleasant experience. I don't know.. maybe conditioner and lotion in the bathroom? A kettle or coffee maker in the room!? Absolutely outrageous.

Amazing room and views of Sorrento, every detail of the hotel is just stunning. It feels so dreamy having a balcony room and the hotel is small and peaceful. All the hotel aesthetics are just incredible, it is worth every cent.

Breakfast could have been slightly better or offered more options.

La struttura è bella: ha un terrazzo mozzafiato dove si può cenare a lume di candela, il ristorante è ottimo con un personale davvero gentile e disponibile e la spiaggia privata è davvero paradisiaca, consiglio vivamente la struttura a chiunque voglia rilassarsi e trascorrere un fine settimana in coppia o in famiglia.

Tolle Lage (irre Aussicht) und sehr nettes und hilfreiches Personal. Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Auch der Fussweg nach Sorrento Zentrum ist gut machbar.

Frühstück war nur befriedigend. Jede Menge Kuchen (der ja gut war), Eier und Obst OK, aber haben schon besseres gesehen. Frischer Orangensaft und gegen Omelette nur gegen Aufpreis.

Beautiful location away from the downtown but close enough to walk to. Up on a cliff with an amazing view. Very good food. Excellent buffet. Amazing staff.

I have no words for the beauty of this hotel. It was my favorite out of the six hotels I stayed in during my stay on the coast of Italy. The view is stunning. The beds are heavenly and the breakfast was divine. Everyone of the staff was beautiful, kind and accommodating. I will never forget my time here at the beautiful location. Easily walkable to town and to the Roman ruin swim spot Bagni Regina. Thank you Annalisa for allowing you help and recommendations. I was so so sad to leave. I hope I can return one day soon!

It was perfection.

Property was lovely and very traditionally Italian and also the staff were so incredibly welcoming and friendly. We required some extra services which they handled flawlessly. Giusi went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable stay and that we did!

View over the bay of Naples and Sorrento port from our balcony was stunning.

It was a 30 minute walk to the centre of Sorrento but all via a gentle pathway, no steps to contend with.

Absolutely amazing boutique hotel with top notch staff and service. Only negative is the shower. It’s very small. The views are second to none. Very very clean.

We wanted a hotel to enable us to eat dinner in the hotel. After paying in full (non-refundable) just three weeks before we were told that as it was not high season there would no restaurant. Very disappointing.

L’emplacement un peu en dehors de Sorrento mais le centre ville est accessible à pied en 15 minutes . La vue depuis le restaurant et sa terrasse est magnifique. L’hôtel est très confortable et propre,le personnel accueillant. Excellent rapport qualité prix Nous y sommes allés au tout début de la saison.

There is no elevator in hotel and no service of carrying bags. So be ready to carry your suitcase to another floor with a staircase

This was our first trip to Sorrento and we will definitely be back!!! We stayed at La Tonnarella for 10 days and did day trips to Amalfi,Positano, Ravello, Pompeii and Capri (could have skipped Capri, too congested and expensive). We stayed in a Junior Suite at LaTonnarella and had a panoramic view of the sea and Vesuvio that was breathtaking! When we arrived the first night we were greeted like family by Giuseppe Aiello, I believe he was the manager. He checked us in, answered all our questions and took us to our room. What a welcome! We are ordinary people and were greeted like celebrities. The hotel exudes an old world charm with lots of color, ceramic tilework, sunshine and a relaxed vibe. There were some areas tho that could use a little freshening up. The view from our suite, the outside dining room where we had a few dinners, and the inside dining room where a free breakfast is served were sensational! The hotel was built into a mountain and is about a 20 minute walk from the main square, so we were far from the maddening crowds. We would walk into town each day for sight seeing, shopping and lunch and then head back to the hotel. It is a pleasant and scenic walk but along a very narrow path with the narrow street overwhelmed by cars, busses and motorcycles.So you have to be very careful. At night, we took taxis down to town and back up which ranged from $50-$60 Euros round trip which can add up quickly. Giuseppe was always there for us to answer our questions, take our laundry, call taxi's and suggest some very good restaurants like L'Abate and Aquamaria and make our reservations at these restaurants and at the hotel. Anna Lisa also did an outstanding job doing all the above as well as a gentleman at night with grey hair. SERVICE WAS EVERYTHING at the front desk!!!! The hotel was very very clean and well stocked and our jr. suite was so spacious and inviting. Our outdoor terrace was huge with an umbrella and 2 lounge chairs as well as a little reading nook and an outdoor shower. The food at the breakfast room was fresh and well prepared with a lot of variety and we went there every day. The outside terrace for dinner was also good but the menu never varied so we ventured into town most nights and dined at Il Buco, Anqiua Ristorante Parrucchiana FAvorita among others which were all amazing. Thank you Giuseppe and Anna Lisa, and all the housekeeping staff, serving staff at breakfast and dinner. WELL DONE!!! Only 2 minor criticisms: They are advertised as having a private beach and they do. But you have to take a very old small elevator down to another level and walk down which is fine. But the beach is so small, rocky, and no real sand. We only went once and it wasnt worth it. Secondly, the A/C system is old and our room was too cold always - could not be regulated. Minor things. Overall GREAT EXPERIENCE!! It was pricey but we did have a large junior suite.

The hotel has a great view. Unfortunately that is all I can say for positive feedback. The rooms are small and uncomfortable. The storage for luggage etc inadequate. Noise is a problem with little or no insulation. Our shower flooded the bathroom with every shower. This was not the type of accommodation we expected,

This hotel was not a 4 star hotel. Rooms are small, mattresses are hard and very uncomfortable, shower is very small with old tri-slide door with awful shower heading spraying everywhere. Never figured out the AC, no way to get brewed coffee before 7:30am, breakfast was not great, no place to put suitcases and clothes storage very limited. We had to go outside to access room which was very slippery in the rain and room was near busy road which caused traffic. The other couple we traveled with had similar issues. We ended up checking out early and going to another hotel so we could sleep. They offered to change rooms but we were gone all day with no time to try that option but overall the hotel was not acceptable.

This was the first of four hotels that we stayed in during our last trip to Italy. We spent four nights here before moving on to Florence. The hotel is about a half mile or so away from the village, perched on the edge of a steep cliff. It's about a fifteen minute walk into the village along a mostly narrow sidewalk but with a great view. All downhill into the village and all uphill going back. The room was large with a big deck and fantastic views of the bay. We could see the lights of Naples across the bay. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and included a statute and fountain in the middle of the shower. Water pressure was very good. Breakfast was also good with a large selection of eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit and pastries. They brought coffee and cappuccionos to the table. Overall our stay was very pleasant.

I loved the hotel very much! There’s a beautiful tile in the room, bed is comfortable, air conditioner works good, minibar is regularly replenished. The location is very good: 10 minutes to the product shop and 20-25 minutes to the city centre. The restaurant in the hotel has an amazing Vesuvius view, delicious meals and drinks. There’s a small private beach with a bar in the hotel, nice and quiet. Also, staff in the hotel is very polite and friendly.

I don’t have any view in my room because my window was near the pavement. The cicadas around the hotel are very noisy, I even couldn’t sleep once from the early morning because of them. Of course, it’s not the hotel’s fault.

We stayed at La Tonnarella for the first 6 nights of our first trip to Italy, the hotel is beautiful and the views are gorgeous. We booked a sea view room and it had a balcony; however, two people could barely fit out there unless you were sitting at the table. The table and two chairs took up most of the room and it was even hard to get up and down because the table was too big for the balcony. The room itself was fine, the view makes it better but it was small. The walk down to the restaurants was only 15 minutes and a beautiful walk, coming back is more of an incline but it's not that bad. The hotel was clean and the daily maid service was wonderful. The curtain would not close in our room (Room #5) so I had to clip it closed with a hair clip so the bright morning light would not wake us up too early. We did go down to the beach on the first day and had lunch but never went back, even the walk up to the elevator is a bit steep and we are in pretty good shape. The beach is rocky and they charge you for chairs and umbrella even though you are guest at the hotel. I agree with what someone else said about the mini bar, they charge you for everything except the TWO bottles they leave you for the entire 6 nights. We never ate at the restaurant for dinner, we planned to but never made it. We walked down to the center every night and enjoyed the restaurants there. We ate breakfast once or twice and it was a nice selection.

We spent 2 nights in this wonderful hotel on our trip to Sorrento. Everything about the hotel is excellent, from the location, to the staff, to the views, to the vibe. We really enjoyed our stay here and will return some day hopefully. Really couldn't fault anything about it

The hotel has its own private beach, which was so convenient and relaxing. We enjoyed it every day. Be prepared to walk at least 20 minutes into town on a hill. Also budget for taxi transportation on the days you don’t want to walk back up the hill. Overall, the hotel is quite lovely and all of the food and drinks that we had were delicious. The communication with the staff was excellent.

We had a fantastic stay at The Tonnarella Hotel! Joseph at the reception was absolutely incredible — so helpful and genuinely kind. He went above and beyond to organise the best tours for us around Capri and the Amalfi Coast, and even helped us secure a car for our return to Naples. Truly fantastic service! The hotel itself is very charming, with a beautiful private beach that we loved, and a restaurant offering impressive views and delicious food. Overall, an amazing experience that made our time in Sorrento unforgettable. Highly recommended!

Nevertheless, while our room was cute, it was also very tiny and quite basic, with only one bedside table. The bathroom in particular could really benefit from better lighting, as it often felt too dark.
