It’s location.

The continental breakfast wasn’t good value for money. I would have liked Croissants or pastries, however there wasn’t any left and I didn’t really want a cooked breakfast as I was travelling home that day and I’m not a good traveller. So all I could have was a bowl of cereal. I asked if there was any more croissants, but was told ‘no they’ve all gone’. It wasn’t like we were late down to breakfast either.

Exceptionally helpful staff who were able to accommodate us at such short notice after having to leave our previous accommodation at Days Inn - that was so awful!

Good location for Oakham town centre and local areas of interest like Rutland Water. Has a lot of character yet modernised facilities.

Room was very comfortable . evening meal was delicious and breakfast very good too . Lovely welcome from reception . Service at breakfast was slow due to only one member of staff being avaialable for a full restaurant.

Service at breakfast -more staff would have been helpful. A tea and coffee machine would be good . And ordinary granola. A bedside table on both sides of the bed would be preferable for drinks etc .

Very pleasant 2 night stay. Staff were very pleasant, especially Tamera who was a star, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast.

Front door open at night, when reception is not manned. Key code for security would be advisable. Car park too small, difficult to manger if full. Shower slip mat needed replacing.

A little short staffed at breakfast, a squeaky door in our bedroom, parking exit on to the main road dangerous as hedge obscure view. Lighting a little dim in bedroom.

Hotel was excellent on all fronts

We booked last minute for an overnight stop on way to Scotland. The room was spotlessly clean and a decent size in a historic property. The breakfast was super and the staff were very friendly - both at reception and at breakfast. Oakham is a sweet town - and big shout out to Jashir- an Indian restaurant in nearby high street - where we had some of the best Indian food we have eaten in a long time ( and we eat a lot of Indian food!)

nothing - everything was good and as expected. If I was being picky I would want a bigger room if I was staying for longer than a night - but was perfect for our one night stay. Parking was a little challenging in tight spots with full car park - but it was free and no complaint as such.

The room was comfortable, quiet and the carpet was really clean. That doesn't happen often. Dinner was exceptional.

Continental breakfast could be better. The quality of croissant wasn't great. Parking space is a challenge.

The wisrera was excellent ,we intend to return soon as we loved the HOTEL and the staff.

The car park is very small ,but the one for the MUSEUM is next door , but did not take cash only credit cards But ours are not contractless. So a trip into Oakam at a corner shop that sell parking permits for the Museum.

Staff excellent - helpful and friendly. Restaurant food very good. Nice friendly vibe in this family-owned hotel. I'd definitely like to stay here again.

Parking is a chore. The hotel car park is small and approached down a long narrow driveway, we took one look and realised our quite large car would not fit. There is public parking close by (free 18:00 to 08:00) but you need to remember to pay at 8:00 every morning.

Convenient location for a stroll into Oakham. Private car park (as long as you arrive early!) as well as adjacent public car park (free after 6pm). Comfortable bed. Good breakfast choice.

If the hotel car park is full and no space to turn, difficult to reverse out on to the road.

The bed was comfy.The room was quiet, never slept so well in a hotel. Room and bathroom were really clean. Loads of choice at breakfast including gluten free so great if you're coeliac.

The building was quaint, with a little stone walkway to get to it. It was close enough enough to the town to walk in and go to the pub.

This is an exactly a negative, but, on the night we were there, there was kind of a rowdy wedding going on. There were people still yelling in the street until after midnight. But they told us that it was a very unusual occurrence and I think that’s probably true. it wasn’t a problem for us. We enjoyed getting a taste of local culture!

Quirky building, easy to get lost inside! I was a late arrival and an envelope addressed to me was on front desk, it contained a welcome letter and my room key. My room was at the back so quiet.

Room was very warm, so opened 2 small windows and turned off the radiator.

Had character but with a modern twist. Good location for us.

one member of the party had to sleep in an unmade child's bed on the first night as the room was made up for a double and we needed 2 singles, which was bit annoying.

Needs a little bit of maintenance. Valve on bathroom radiator jammed . Shower temperature gauge jammed. Room cold.

A lovely hotel, very clean, well maintained and felt newly decorated. Comfy bed, new fluffy towels, excellent breakfast and very welcoming staff. Would definitely come back!

Really nice hotel. My room was so comfortable. I also had dinner at the hotel. Starter was a bit too large (chicken croquette) but haddock and chips for main was amazing. Breakfast, great choice and delicious.

Hairdryer took an age to warm up but reported to reception to take action. No big deal

The room was dated and the wall on the left hand side needs painting as there is residue of a liquid that has been spilled quite high up and across the whole wall. Skirting boards need painting in the bathroom.
