bed, bathroom, and room are all of good quality & size
I didnt like the carpet, there are a lot of stains on carpet, looked dirty
Clean bathroom, comfy bed, useful to have fridge in the room and the room was spacious. Staff also welcoming and friendly.
Everything needs a refresh from the paintwork which is patchy and the carpet which desperately needed replacing or at least cleaning. As others have said the occasional person hanging round the entrance smoking with their dog made me feel a little uneasy as a solo female travelling with her children. The lighting throughout felt a little dingy which again atmospherically just added to a small sense of unease although this was just a feeling and not based on any bad occurrences. Just a strange vibe!
Everything 👍😁❤️ would recommend it
Nothing
Lovely, large room. Good bathroom. Friendly staff.
Could not find fault.
Location was excellent for the city centre. Wet facilities for the room were good. Generally quiet
Couldn't get a WiFi server (even by reception). Staff one was listed as was the adjacent restaurant (which I believe is run by the hotel) but nothing for guests. Not a major down point for me as I only access the internet 2 or 3 times a day & used other servers. Hotel signage wasn't immediately visible from drivers seat & access is just prior to a reasonably busy junction, resulting in me driving past twice. I ended up parking & navigating on foot when the hotel became obvious
Location Friendly staff
Really small room wall paper rips
The bed was very comfortable and in a great location
All was good
Fantastic, friendly staff. Comfy bed, great value for money room. Hotel is in a great, central location.
Rooms look a little dated but given the price and cleanliness, it's no big deal.
Four poster bed was special ( big surprise) slept really well!! Generous free parking spaces. Very friendly staff.
Nothing
Four poster bed. Nice to have sofa in the room to chill. Bathroom was lovely, clean and great shower.
Bed was very wobbly and squeaky. I think the screws need tightening.
beautiful room and very clean although no mini bar filled but great to have a fan and a fridge
nothing
Great location staff were very friendly however there was a very strong smell of weed around some of the place
Cold showers were the main problem
Bed comfortable, great shower, fan, great TV. Good check out time.
Small room, no view, no restaurant or breakfast.
Room was ok
Finding out this is a half way house full of homeless people. The smell of weed was overpowering at times and restaurant was closed most of the time. Didn't get breakfast even though it says included. Would definitely not recommend this place
The room was clean and tidy, plenty of hot water and for a one night stay good value for money
It was room only so no breakfast availability but a short walk to the city centre sorted that issue
Everything
Nothing
Everything polite staff.room spotless clean.location.
The location is ideal for central Wakefield; just a stone's throw from the train station, theatre, bars and clubs. The hotel has its own car park. The bed was comfortable, the bedding was clean and the bathroom was modern and clean
The communal areas of the hotel are extremely shabby, with wallpaper hanging off the walls, grubby paintwork and disgustingly filthy soft furnishings.
It was a very enjoyable stay .
I didn't like the fact that there was no breakfast available.
Staff first class as always
Location, cost. It was very quiet. Easy to check out. Able to access the room early. Room was clean. Parking on site a big plus. Staff very helpful.when.query phone call made before arrival
Decor a little tired, airless ( the weather was exceptionally warm). However value for money and exceptional location outweighed any negatives. Very difficult for an independent hotel to survive
Its location
The hotel as a whole was a bit rundown
A very nice hotel. A big room, very nicely furnished, polite and friendly staff and a good restaurant and bar. We were very pleasantly surprised and will stay here again.

When I turned up at the hotel they had no record of the booking but managed to find an inferior room for which I should have received a £20 refund. However, over a month later I’ve still received nothing. The staff have been friendly enough since I raised this issue but whether the booking mix up was the hotel’s fault or booking.com’s is not my problem - I just want my refund.
Friendly gentleman on reception Clean room Good location
People hanging around outside
Ease of check in, location, room facilities
Being a larger guest, the bathroom for me in this particular room was tight, but I’m sure more than adequate for an average person.
The location was spot on for train station.
The lighting outside the hotel made it hard to find.
Next to the city centre and a 2 minute walk from the station ideally placed for pubs and restaurants or a ten minute train ride into Leeds. Lovely large room, comfy bed good quality TV, nice shower.
Location to train station & where needed to be, clean
TV in room didn't work & the other residents appeared to be of "permanent male residency" & loitering at side area of building. The smell of "abnormal " smoke in lift & corridors lingering about. In my opinion should not be advertised on booking .com
Size of the room was excellent , bed was huge , bathroom was a good size and shower was excellent . Had a fridge which was great , and a seatee , room comfortable ,clean and brilliant value for money
The front door was a bit rough , TV was too small for the room and was slow .
Cleanest room I've seen in a while, the (double) room looks better than the photos. The fridge is a convenient addition to my liking. There is no limescale in the kettle which is always a pleasant sign of a good hotel. The male receptionist was welcoming and made me feel like a honoured guest. The location is close to Wakefield Westgate station, also close to the city centre (i.e. no noise from people) in about 10 minutes walk.
Perhaps the stairs and floors are a bit squeaky like any other aged British houses. I can also hear people walking with luggage and the next door talking loud and coughing, but this again is kinda expected, you may need to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. It would otherwise be what I expect of a 10/10 hotel/inn, not fancy but nothing else to fault.
Right next to the theatre
No breakfast
Great location near the train station restaurants and bars
Very clean and fresh
Excellent location near rail and bus station Spacious comfortable room Nice staff
Nothing
Ease of checking in and out. Excellent location for the town centre.
TV did not work but this didn’t impact our stay.
A good central location which made it walkable.
Dated with too many doors which were obstacles within. An old building revamped to some degree but some bits were very broken and damaged which undermined its quality.
Property was much nicer the the photos displayed. Very beautiful property inside
The bedroom was great it was very spacious. We only stayed one night and it was just what we wanted. It was central for a bit of sight seeing too.
It was a little noisy with a busy road outside. Also some noisy guests and pets.
the free parking is undeniably a plus, and the size of the room is great.
the hotel offers no food unlike showed on google pictures. the hotel needs a lot of TLC, in the lobby near the lift, the wallpaper was coming off the wall. the floor at reception was sticky. in my room there was a burnt mark of iron on the carpet, the showerroom was tiny. not managed to get the TV working.
Very clean hotel throughout and bed was very comfortable, rain shower was amazing, nice addition having a fridge in the room for our prosecco that we took with us, location is brilliant and car park was great even when we left for the day we still had a space when we returned, Mexican restaurant next-door is amazing and very good value for money 5*s definitely would book here again.

No fuss, good value, great staff
cleanliness, quite and comfortable
Friendly, professional staff, great room, very quiet, free car park outside, clean modern bathroom, fridge in room, excellent value abd a wonderful heritage building instead of a cookie cutter concrete block. Absolutely wonderful.
Nothing
The location was convenient. I was able to park - this was free of charge although I wasn't sure if this was because it was meant to be free or just because nobody could be bothered to take payment.
Oh my word. Wish I'd booked somewhere else. I booked because it was well located and had on site parking, and the rooms advertised online looked nice. My experience was completely different though. The decor is really tired - scratches and scuffs on all the doors and door frames, and wallpaper scratched and peeling in the halls. Think "Wakefield Tower of Terror" vibes. The room I got was nothing like what the website shows - very small with a tiny "bathroom". Again, the furniture was scratched and worn, and there were holes in the carpet. The problems started on the first morning when I was told that there wasn't any breakfast available despite this being advertised as included. That evening descended into farce. The fire alarm went off at 11pm. The night manager spent more time trying to turn it off than ensuring that guests were safe. He thought it was a false alarm but after it kept tripping he eventually started running around talking on his mobile phone while an agitated guest kept following him and yelling how she could smell smoke upstairs. Eventually the fire brigade arrived and we all shuffled outside. It was an eclectic mix of business visitors and semi-permanent residents (mainly druggies, alkies and assorted homeless people). It was like "Fawlty Towers meets Trainspotting". One guy was openly toking on a spliff in front of the firefighters. Almost no communication from the staff meanwhile. After an hour of the alarm going off constantly, the source of the alarm was found (in the linen room) and we were allowed back in at about midnight, cold and exhausted. The next morning, my complaints were met with sullen embarrassment from the daytime managers who barely apologised and didn't offer a refund or compensation. When I said it was the worst hotel I'd ever stayed in, they just shrugged their shoulders. If I owned this place and Hell, I'd rent this place out and live in Hell.
It was near the station and only a short walk to the centre of town. The room itself was comfortable enough and was clean and tidy.
Reception only seemed to be open at odd times. Most of the time, there didn't seem to be anyone there. There are no real communal areas to wait or meet people, and there are no catering facilities at all, not even a vending machine.
Location great, lovely room and comfortable.
Only issue we had was controlling the temperature in the shower which meant we couldn't use it, was too hot.
Large spacious newly refurbished room at a great location with parking - great value for money
The staff and the rooms
Nothing
Comfortable, clean and central base for staying in Wakefield. Attached to a very good and very affordable restaurant. Also with a good sized carpark. Will be returning.
All good.
Good, clean room. Bathroom a little in the small side but entirely adequate.
Bedside tables are 'tired' and need replacing.
Very, very close to show venue .extremely helpful staff
The weather!
Clean room and free parking good location.
That the place is also a halfway house for homeless / drunks, and not noted on booking site. No water for a shower at 5am because pump went down and cold water at 6pm when went for shower after work... finally got hot water about 7.45pm. Going over other reviews this is not a first.
THE ROOM WAS CLEAN, WARM AND COMFORTAB LE.
Always a pleasure to stay here and the location is brilliant, didn't eat in the restaurant this time but the food is ten out of ten
Location is wonderful. Close to town and the train station.
Room was a bit warm. One window was difficult to open.
Very convenient for Westgate rail station
Did not feel particularly safe in the locale at night. The front entrance, which is reasonably lit is not in use, instead the side entrance, which is not so well lit is the one that has to be used
Large rooms and comfy bed. Though staff weren’t always on hand, the ones you did meet were polite enough
I am in two minds about this hotel. We were there for a wedding and, the wedding was lovely. Food from the neighbouring restaurant was super tasty, however the bar in the hotel was extortionate for location, ill equip with nothing on tap The hotel is clearly housing the homeless which, though this is great for them, it isn’t advertised anyway which resulted in a few awkward encounters and, as three young women the night before the wedding, it felt really uncomfortable with people constantly walking around. I feel this should be stated on booking Our room had a TERRIBLE smell. A mix of sewage and smoke which clung. Reception staff were almost nonexistent. You had to ring a bell to get attention then wait a while for that. They’re clearly using the staff from the restaurant next door for the hotel. We weren’t told check in or check out times and we’re just handed a key with no information on our stay. The hotel is exceptionally dated. Though it has character it is very worn. The beds were comfortable, the rooms bright but besides that, the hotel needs some TLC and improvement. If I hadn’t been there for a function I would have likely checked out earlier
Excellent location.
Clean, comfortable though quite small room. Basic. But well priced. Delivered what it says on the website in!
Quick check in by very friendly receptionist. Very comfortable bed and sofa bed that I could charge my phone on while resting. There was also a mini fridge, nice touch.
There was no hand wash in the bathroom.
Convenient, good parking, pleasant, polite & helpful staff who went "that extra mile". Thank you.
Nothing "not to like", exactly what we needed.
Comfortable bed
It should have softer lights, like bedside lamps
Location, Size of room, was clean and staff friendly got an upgraded room on arrival
Bed was uncomfortable,
The comfort of my room, the hearing was good and the cleanliness of my room.
Very large room for a great price Helpful staff and easy check in Clean and comfortable Excellent location Mini Fridge in room was a bonus that I didnt see advertised
Extra pillows in the room would've been a nice option Slightly noisy road by the hotel but not the hotel's fault
It was central, clean and comfortable
Nothing
My wife is a bad sleeper and therefore I asked specifically for a quiet room when booking, When we arrived I checked the request but we then found we had been allocated a noisy room at the front of the hotel overlooking a busy through road in Wakefield. I went down and asked for a room away from the road but the receptionist said the hotel was already fully booked. We therefore had to find a different hotel. On our way out, we asked for a refund and only then did the receptionist say that he did have a room at the back, but by then we had already committed to another hotel. All subsequent attempts to get a refund have been rebuffed. The hotel does not apparently serve any breakfast, which is unusual and I did not appreciate receiving several attempted scam emails in the name of this hotel in the weeks before our visit. Fortunately I was able to check with the hotel and delete the emails but there seem to be deficiencies in their system security.
Good location. Bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean.
Large Room. Free parking and good location
Small Bathroom
Lovley big room , large bed , clean room and bathroom , central location
room was much bigger than i expected. There was a chance I wouldn't be able to move my car when I checked out, I was told that wouldn't be a problem
The room was large, clean and the shower was excellent
I would have preferred to have bed and breakfast
Central location
Room sparse, no where to hang anything, radiator 20% working ( ended up bleeding it myself , then 100% warmer) no TV remote. No extra pillows. Single glazed windows (1 cracked) so lots of road noise day/night. Room emergency lighting glows green all night so constant light whilst trying to sleep. No lamps or bedside lighting.
