It was quiet
The electronic door locks are a bit of a pain. But nothing major
Cheap
Restrictive parking, front door clearly recently broken into, dodgy keypad locks, loud road noise, uncomfortable bed, room smelled like cigarettes & NO HOT WATER Unless you're really on a budget, don't bother
Good value for money
The electronic code numbers to access the building.
Location was ok
Room wasn't properly cleaned found false eyelash on bedside cabinet, cosmetic damage crack in bathroom sink, needed better plugs for TV fridge and kettle, would be an easy fix
Great room
Clean . Easy to access. 30 Minutes walk to town centre
Parking was a bit tight .
Location excellent
Close to the city center and was able to check in late
The property had poor shower pressure, the facilities were not of the a great standard and the bed was quite uncomfortable
Good location and clean
Despite on-site parking bring available, apparently the room is booked (room 4) wasn't eligible to use it. Street parking was advised but not appropriate for me. That isn't what I signed up for and there were on-site spaces available every night of my stay. Description is inaccurate.
Rooms clean and comfortable fairly spacious with separate bathroom well stocked. Surprised that small fridge/freezer in room along with desk, chair, double bed and sofa.
Bedside lamps not working
Comfortable
Difficulty getting g in especially as key boxes distract
Close by everything and a home from home
Location was great. Beds comfortable and great shower.
Property was very dated, furniture handles missing or broken. Kettle socket does not work.
I liked everything about the place
Nothing at all
A pin was sent to our phone that we had to use to get in to the property and we had to go to pub and use their internet to get the pin, what happens if you can't get internet?. Trying to open the door after we did put pin in was a hassle door so stiff. We even tried ringing the bell but of course Noone answered. I would have thought the bell would have been connected to someone if there was a problem. Very disappointed and certainly won't be going back
Getting into the property
Easy to find and park.
Just average.
Lovely room, very clean
Booked a double room with breakfast and on site parking. Arrived to a twin room, no breakfast and street parking only. Beds were so.squeaky, every move woke you up. But, you get what you pay for I guess.
too complicated to gain access
Parking wasn't clear as to what bays were allocated, room was comfy enough but the previous occupier had caused some staining, there was a staff member on site rectifying it so no fault there
The location was handy to walk into the centre. I only had to stay for one night and I was exhausted from driving for 9 hours. See below
I had started here before so I'm worried I came back. There was no sound insulation in the rooms. The road outside was busy constantly but the windows did not stop the noise.i heard music presumably from the next room till the early hours. The mattress was uncomfortable. The door to the bathroom was a poorly fitted one and crashed like hell. Shower was not the best to control. I will not be returning.
TV, Refrigerator, location was good for me.
Initial keycode didn't work - someone let me in. OK later though.
All good
All of it
Lovely and quiet
Having to go home
It was a pleasant place for a stay and I would happily return
I didn't see any member of staff and I experienced problems on entry and also leaving. It was frustrating for me.
It was close to the area we needed to be in
Parking was a little difficult, the bathroom door would not close it was open and would not move
There was everything you needed in the room (even little biscuits ) A fridge and a fan which was highly needed in this hot weather. The room is very clean spacious and comfortable. Nice lounge and kitchen dinner too. Good location for buses to the stations.
Noisy traffic sounded like the window was open (sirens often.) Gaining entrance was so awkward for me as the code is on the door handle (not the key safe on the wall.)
Not much
Lack of staff. We had to try and phone someone to get access codes. After trying for more than 30 minutes, one of the regular residents managed to get us in. A ridiculous arrangement. Will not be coming back. 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋
The room had a fridge
Communication was terrible. We weren't sent our room number until nearly 5 hours after check in and we had already rang them to get it. We left something valuable to us in the room by accident and they never even acknowledged our message asking about it. Although car parking wasn't included with the room there was the option to request it, but don't bother as they won't give it to you even if there are loads of empty spaces. Worth noting that they say you can use on street parking, but the road has double yellow lines. The communal areas stank of stale smoke. The beds squeak every time you move and the road out side is very noisy. We expected a budget stay and regularly stay in budget hotels, but this was a whole new level.
The room was clean with reasonable facilities including a fan and a fridge which we needed during a heatwave!
The parking was limited. We were asked to park in a bay with the number of our room on it. On the second night the car park was full so we could only park in the middle of the car park, blocking others in. Luckily we left before anyone else so this did not cause an issue for anyone.
The shower was excellent. The en-suite and room were also clean.
I wasn’t permitted to park at the house but fortunately found somewhere a short distance away. Also, the room faced on to a busy road.
It was very dated, fixtures in bathroom hanging off, strong smell of air freshner, old thinly worn bedding and fraying towels. Perhaps was clean enough, but the shabbiness gives a different appearance. Breakfast basic self serve. Was a fan which was appreciated! Has it market, but not for me sadly.£55 , i could have got better i think! On the plus side, my brother and his ex army mates, when doing gigs, have stayed a few times.
See above.
Great location, close to town and rail station
Easier to enter the building
The location was perfect for what we needed. Parking available.
Not used to sleeping on a busy road so was quite noisy, but only 1 night so wasn't a big issue.
Location size facilities, not had that type of breakfast before, continental type, products left in fridge in room to prepare and self serve in the well stocked kitchen/diner. Free parking at property. Big room and excellent bathroom shower.
Initially had problems with the digital code check in , had to phone remote host, this was sorted out within 30 mins, other guests had similar issues as we spoke to a couple of them.
The location, the facilities in the hotel communal area and the bedroom.
I wouldn't say I didn't like it. However, the key code entry, I struggled a little to get in. This did worry me as a solo female visitor - plus not having a person present to assist. However, I am sure the more I use this type accommodation the braver/more comfortable I will be.
Perfectly adequate for one night stay and value for money. Shared kitchen good but would be improved with some more utensils. Although the access code was sent in advance, the room number was not. But staff on phone very helpful and soon sorted. Overall, good.
Very clean especially the bathroom...think it has been modernised/refitted recently
Bit of a walk from Lincoln center but got my steps in, and also, there are lots of nice food places this way out
Location
The access to the property via key pad was a nightmare and to my room as well. There was many other issues which I have already reported to the management of the hotel. I have requested a full refund, but they informed me that refunds can only be issued by Booking dot come. Could you please advise how I can proceed with a claim.
There was a problem with the bed. We were quickly switched to a nearby alternative accommodation
Immaculate room and beautiful bathroom. Bed was comfy and the mini fridge was a welcome addition.
No bedside plugs but not the end of the world.
Grote kamer, prima badkamer. Gemeenschappelijke keuken. Alle sloten met codes, dus je hoeft geen extra sleutels mee te nemen. En ik vind het wel prettig om mijn eigen ontbijt uit te zoeken. Liever dat dan iets voorgezet te krijgen wat je niet echt lekker vindt.
It was a spacious and clean property, the price of the booking reflected the overall quality and experience. Upon arrival there was a slight mishap with checking in however when I called the number the staff were able to help immediately. There was also a parking space for our room at the property.
We were initially given the wrong room number so that caused some confusion but aside from that it was a positive experience and stay.
Location to town.
Toilet didn't flush without removing lid, waste basket in toilet not empty had lemon peel and slices in it also advercardo slices in it,we took our own pillows with us that turned out a god send as the pillows were only fit for the bin.We stayed here about 2 to 3 years ago had a good stay but this time was bad, won't book here again can't help thinking if there's been a change of management or cleaners or both.
The bed
The automated check in, I like to speak to someone not get given a code and that's it
I liked that it was affordable.
I didnt like that you're not allowed to eat in your rooms, the shower was awful, it says it has WiFi, the WiFi didnt work. On arrival the code wasnt working. The person on call who I contacted had absolutely no patience that I couldnt hear them / understand them as its situated on a busy road and I could hear them losing patience with me as I asked them to repeat things. The shower was either freezing or youd get a little got water. Then it would splutter and scald you. Lamps didnt work.
Parking Kitchen Fridge in room Wifi Big room
The electronic key pad to the entrance can be a bit tricky.
I always love my stays at Tennyson. It's great to have a lounge and fully stocked kitchen I can use as well as a kettle and fridge in the room. I can't imagine what other facilities I could want - there's a desk, settee, big double bed, wardrobe, lovely bathroom. It feels like home from home at very reasonable prices. I can't wait for the next time work takes me back to Lincoln!
Nothing
Clean decent facilities.
Check in.Sent a n entry code but your eyes are drawn to individual keypads which don’t no anything .No instructions as to how to work the keyless entry
We had a very pleasant stay at Tennyson. The location is excellent and very easy to reach, which made our trip much more comfortable. The property was clean, well maintained and everything was well organised. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, and we felt very comfortable during our stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future and highly recommend it to others.
Very clean. Comfortable beds. Excellent price.
I specified on booking.com for parking, after I had paid I noted there was no parking available. Rang the company and the woman I spoke to was just horrible. The bedside lamps didn't work.
Good value for money.
I rather not be picky as the value was exceptional. I would go back. Everything you need is here. I stayed for four nights.
Another great stay at the Tennyson. I won’t choose anywhere else now when I stay in Lincoln. Great facilities, really comfortable and fantastic having a whole kitchen to use as well
Nothing
Good price. Easy to find.
Room stank of cigarettes and marajuana. Cold, no heating. Got locked out, guy came to let me in said it was already broke and not repaired. Water leaking out from under the bath. Scolding hot water. No parking space . Toaster was worst ive ever seen. Tiny tea cups , no teaspoon.......
The nice place I’m clean
The blanket is really small. I’ve been freezing till morning. And the room is very cold. I get ill. I’m not happy at all.
I stay at the Tennyson Guest House whenever I work in Lincoln, I love it. Every single thing you could possibly need, lovely room and great kitchen and lounge
Nothing
Location and very clean
No curtains and noice from the main road
Cost only
No parking when I booked stated parking available, not available for twin room, only double room. Parking in Lincoln terrible anyway. I wouldn't booked it if no allocated parking space. Getting email to access the front door but failed to tell us which room No. We had to try every door to know which room we were meant to be staying in. We rang several times no-one picked up. We only got responses by email about room Number just after 19.15 when we checked in at 16:00. Do not a good customer service. Was noisy, placed us opposite main road
Everything
Nothing
Location. That’s it
Firstly had an absolute ordeal trying to get into the actual property. Was given three different check in information instructions yet when I tried opening the link it came up with 404 error on all of them. There is no reception desk or anyone actually working there, so when the code for the door wasn’t working there was no help except for a guy on the phone saying ‘you just input the code and push’ … which was no help in the slightest! When finally getting into the room there’s everything you need for it to be a hotel room, desk, refreshments, bed and bathroom. They weren’t outstanding but they’re there. Unless you need to use the mini fridge, which is hard to open as it’s on the floor and gets stuck on the floor when trying to open. The parking is a joke, hardly any space to park and with a massive sign saying if you don’t park in the space allocated you will incur extra charges seems to not matter as anyone was parked anywhere.
I often work in Lincoln and always stay at the Tennyson - comfortable rooms, good facilities and great to have a fridge and a parking space! This time I didn't read the instructions properly and just tried to use the old key safe to get in that I'd used last year (not seeing the process had changed). I phoned the helpline in a panic but it was answered straight away and the person on the phone calmly talked me through the process very kindly. I've learnt my lesson to read instructions! Very reassuring the customer service is so good
I miss the lovely breakfast but completely understand why that no longer happens. It's great to have a full kitchen to use
Noone to deal with is perfect - passcode entry. Great location.
Relatively basic but certainly does the job.
The bathroom is clean, and bed is comfy
It's a bit noisy due to moving cars, as I am a light sleeper. Same access communal code as my allocated room.
Reasonably priced accommodation in central location near a pleasant park. Shops and restaurants within walking distance
Remote assistance could have been more responsive.
The allocation of a parking spot. Once I figured out the digital entry key, (that's down to me not being technical) It was so easy to do, no worries of losing a physical key. The room was clean and comfortable over looking the canal. The communal areas were clean and tidy. Easy walking distance( if you are able) to the city centre, either up the High Street or along the canal path. The room gave us all that we needed, for the price that we paid.
The only thing we found a problem was the fridge in our room was noisy. Also the main room ceiling light did not work, but there were lamps ether side of the bed.
The room was a good size with everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
The property is right on a busy main road and there is a lot of traffic noise all night. Unfortunately, the double glazed windows are warped and no longer seal properly, so I found that the road noise was just as loud when the windows were shut as when they were open. I did find some ear plugs in one of the drawers, but these were not enough and I only managed some intermittent sleep by putting two pillows over my head as well. In addition, I was very frustrated to find that I was not allowed to park at the property despite parking being advertised when I booked and one of my criteria for selecting it. The car park was clearly marked out with a parking bay for each room but it was empty. Luckily, I double checked the details sent, which stated that if I parked there I could be fined. I also rang the contact number to double check and it was confirmed that I had to park in the street because my booking didn't include parking. Why? There are double yellow lines outside the property so I was forced to park down the road and walk back with my luggage. I was lucky to get a space, anyone arriving after me would have been out of luck. This left a bad taste and I wouldn't return again for this reason and the noise.
Location
It is a self check-in place and the link in the welcome message doesn't work so you have to call them. The room was not serviced properly when I got in. Used mug, trash can full. Also the shower didn't have a door.
The cost.
The bed was uncomfortable, definitely time for a new mattress. The window had a half inch gap down the side, so heard traffic noise all night.
Very handy for the venue we were at. Very clean. Loved having a fridge in the room. Coffee/tea facilities good. Like having a settee in the room. Good parking facilities.
Quite a long walk into city centre. Bed a bit hard.
I had to rate staff as a 1 because there are no staff. I couldn’t access the portal with the information to obtain entrance and had to call someone to find out how to work the electronic keypads on the front door.
Comfy bed and clean facilities
Took me over an hour to gain access No WiFi Shower either scolding hot or cold
Easy to find, parking allocated to your room, even though it's a bit tight. Easy to use system to get into the room. Room was basic, but had everything we needed for our nights stay. Was clean and bed was comfortable. Had a settee in the window nook, so somewhere to sit. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided, and a TV, though we didnt use it so no idea if it worked or not. Great no frills accommodation near to town. Don't think this accommodation would be suitable for the less mobile due to stairs, tight parking and generally, no adaptions unless there was another side to the building that we didnt see.
Shower could have been a bit hotter and a better shower head as it came out like drizzle.
Handy location. Nice & clean room.
Took a bit of time to workout how to get in the building at first.
Good location for the football ground, and near buses, shops, etc. Fridge in the room was handy and breakfast items were left in it for me.
Gaining access was very stressful, ended up having to call booking.com (good service when called), never really got the hang of getting in to the property and then my room, which created some tension at the end of each evening, i.e. wondering whether I'd be able to get in or not. No staff at the property to talk to. Some of the fittings in the bathroom were virtually hanging off. Shower took a long time to warm up. Window blinds were completely inadequate, i.e. didn't keep sun out in morning. No way of controlling heat in room, so generally too hot.
The hotel itself, room wise I could not fault. It was clean and presentable. Bu unfortunately this is where the positive comments end.
The information sheet was slightly incorrect but a phone call to request the correct Wifi password sorted the only information out that we really needed which was sent by WhatsApp - which I didn't realise at the time would be useful (the contact number) later. My daughter and I stopped here as she had an Offer Acceptance day @ Lincoln Uni and we wanted to be fresh faced and fully awake that morning after - was not to be. Unfortunately, of no fault of the hotel, 3 teenagers were in the room next door and from 10pm (the hotels advertised "quiet" time) they started playing loud music and raised voices. At midnight it did not stop, I tried to contact the Hotel Property Managers but to no avail so I sent a WhatsApp - the only reply I got was to ask what room number. At 2am I had to go round and confront the noisy neighbours which was intimidating, they turned the music down for half hour. From 3am to 6am I tried, with no luck to contact the hotel and the music and general noise continued till just after 6am - we had to be up and out at 7am. The only contact I had from the hotel was when I sent a message of disappointment and request for a refund - to which they replied you have to go through your booking agent. I did - the booking agent (Booking.com) couldn't get hold of the hotel and offered me £8 refund!!!! So overall, hotel room great however do not expect any form of customer service or assistance especially when needed.
No breakfast provided
Unsafe door to bathroom, electric cable exposed, shower didn't work. Bedside light didn't work. Fridge noisy but empty. Traffic noise. Building felt unsafe.
Nothing this time we have stayed 5 times last year but will not be staying again . No idea it had changed hands and also that we could no longer park at the property even there was a car park signed posted . We were given no option of parking
I feel very let down with our final stay at this property and the reply when I sent a message it seems they did not care
Location was very good for where we was going out that evening, we didn't opt for breakfast so I can't answer that one but there was a lovely kitchen area and social room , The rooms were very nice and clean, all our rooms came with bathrooms and the security was impressive the unique pin to access the rooms and front door. Also the off-road parking was a bonus.
We stayed in room 2 there was a net curtain but no proper curtains it wasn't a problem to us but might be for others .
Location fine. 15 mins wak to centre
Fire alarm went off for 30 minutes. No on site staff to deal with it Poor communication on phone. Kitchenette neither here nor there as really only a microwave.
