Good location

No hand soap in the bathroom just hair and body wash and conditioner. Broken bedside lamp so that wasn’t working. No internet connection in bedroom. Lots of stairs. Breakfast was very sparse and had to ask for a fried egg and baked beans to be brought out three times. Eggs arrived but baked beans never did.

lift was broken. no offer to help carry luggage up to fifth floor.

The elevator was broken and the floor of the room was sticky and dirty.

I like the location for great access to the city main streets.

The hotel Lifts were not working, so we had to carry our luggage to the 6th floor, also there were no signs on the lift access doors to say what the issue was and when they would be fixed, poor communication.

Location very good for shopping and nightlife. Car park discount good, but call the hotel to get the code b4 you book. Breakfast good too.

A bit of traffic noise in the room we had. we couldnt close the window as it was too high. We asked for an accessible room - and there was only a bath with a shower in it. There were no rails to steady yourself. We managed by but others might not. Just make sure when you book.

The property was a good central location with enough glazing to stop the noise of the busy streets below.

The message sent out from the hotel on parking is incorrect. When we queried this with the receptionist he said ‘I’ve told IT’. The carpark has changed hands and threatens £100 fine if you don’t pay immediately £32 for our stay, but we cancelled that and it was £16 at the hotel - all really unhelpful. The lifts don’t work and customers were complaining about being placed on higher floors. The staff again dismissed this and said they were waiting for parts for the lift. We got into the room which was tired and dated, dirty and unsuitable. We were told they were fully booked and couldn’t change rooms. If we wanted to complain we needed to set up a video call with the manager as there were none onsite. There was would in the bathroom and our feet stuck to the bedroom floors. Absolutely disgusting. Will never stay again!

The milk by the cereal station was soir. They were apologetic but it.put.me off. The hot food looked as if it had been there for a while.. i had to go through a couple of.glasses to find a clean one.vy the fruit juice. Very disappointed as it was part of.my husbands 60th birthday present .

Dopo tutte queste note di demerito sulla pulizia e gestione dell'hotel, passo ai vantaggi: posizione perfetta per andare in arena per concerti arrivandoci in meno di 10 minuti camminando con calma, idem per arrivare al castello e al parco stupendo. Pieno centro e trovi cibo e negozi ovunque.

.Partiamo dal check-in anticipato. Avevamo chiesto tramite Booking se fosse possibile entrare prima in camera e ci è stato risposto di sì, ovviamente a pagamento. Abbiamo accettato e, arrivati alle 12, abbiamo nuovamente accettato di pagare per il check-in anticipato. Ci è stato detto che il pagamento sarebbe comunque partito dalle 12, quindi siamo andati a mangiare, lasciando tutto il tempo necessario per preparare la camera. Alle 13 circa, dopo aver pagato 25 sterline, entriamo finalmente in camera. E qui arriva la sorpresa: la camera era sporca, il bagno pieno di peli e la pulizia, evidentemente, era ancora un concetto teorico. Lo facciamo presente alla reception e ci viene spiegato che avevano avuto poco tempo per rifare la camera. Comprensibile… peccato che il servizio fosse stato pagato appositamente. Quindi, più che un check-in anticipato, sembrava di aver acquistato un ingresso anticipato al cantiere. Ci mandano comunque un ragazzo, gentilissimo e probabilmente l'unica persona realmente disponibile che abbiamo incontrato, che ripassa lo straccio bagnato per la stanza. La situazione migliora leggermente, ma diciamo che per riportarla a livelli accettabili sarebbe servito qualcosa di più di una passata di mocio. Le foto allegate raccontano il resto della storia: lavandino usurato e sporco, fughe della doccia ammuffite e ricoperte di calcare, pavimento sul quale sembra essere stato utilizzato un detergente assolutamente inadatto al legno. Talmente inadatto che, se si rimane fermi troppo a lungo nello stesso punto, si rischia praticamente di rimanere incollati. Phon e bollitore? Presenti. Le prese, invece, apparentemente erano un optional: entrambi collegati direttamente ai cavi della corrente e, naturalmente, con una bella dose di polvere come complemento d'arredo. Per richiedere il rifacimento della camera bisogna compilare un form tramite QR code. Noi lo abbiamo fatto. La camera, però, non è stata rifatta.

The bathroom wasn’t very clean, the bath was dirty and full of mould so we couldn’t us. The property also has a lot of stairs and them lift was out of order

Breakfast, some cooked items were cold, the rest was luke warm at best, needs to improve. No information was given until we arrived regarding the discount the car parking.

No bar as they didn't have a licence to sell alcohol, the fan in the room wasn't very good it was very rickety and the window looked like it wasn't working properly as the tlit was broken , aslo be aware the parking in the west gate was very confusing as it has changed the way people pay ,and alot of people were trying to work out how to pay , not the hotels fault ........but the hotel didn't explain apon arrival that if we wanted the discount on the carpark we would have had to get a code on checking ( this wasn't explained ) the rooms are looking a bit dated , but the staff were pleasant and nice

hotel changed management recently; upkeep and cleaning leave much to be desired. Even when rooms where "cleaned" hair and dust could be found on the floors and furniture. Shower/bath moldy and since there no separate shower access is limited, there are no grips for stepping into the bath. Rooms were very warm and windows could not be opened. Breakfast was good for one night, but eggs stayed out too long and were rubbery, "fresh water" served with breakfast contained chlorine (regular tap water for this area, but unsuited as water to serve with food). Staff not very friendly or helpful. Carpeting throughout the hotel stained. On Friday night noise from the surrounding (karaoke) bars can be heard in the rooms.

The hotel is and the rooms are outdated. Stating that is is a monument should not stop you performing basic renovation like paint. The picture underneath was from the bathroom. Somehow, you expect something better from the outside. I had unfortunately made two bookings in place of one, because I didn´t receive the first booking conformation. The hotel refused to refund one of the rooms. It was their right, but it shows that their customer´s well- being is not their main focus. At the end the internet connection was so bad (zero wi-fi connection in my room), that I used the second room shortly, for the internet. The receptionist tried to explain me, that seeing a wi-fi signal on his phone meant that there was a connection. The receptionist convinced me for a breakfast buffet, for the following morning, which I shouldn´t have agreed to. The breakfast was minimalistic, some trays, like the beans, were already empty 1,5 hours before the closing of the breakfast. Apparently it didn´t disturb the waiter walking around in the room. Perhaps the whole experience would have felt differently, in a cheap hotel, but this wasn´t the case. At least I know which accommodation I will not book again next time in Cardiff.

Great central location in the heart of Cardiff. Secondary double glazing meant a surprisingly good sleep for the location. Spacious room with comfortable beds.

Parking issues. The hotel claims to have subsidized parking but it has been withdrawn, and parking anywhere in Cardiff is ridiculously expensive anyway.

No sé ni por dónde empezar. No es que no sea un hotel de 4 estrellas como dice ser, es que he estado en hostales mejores. Nada más llegar, llegar a tu habitación es una yincana en la que tendrás que coger un ascensor para ir a una segunda planta, dónde se encuentra la recepción. Una vez ahí, tendrás que coger otro ascensor para ir a la planta de tu habitación, y una vez ahí, moverte por una serie de pasillos a distintas alturas hasta llegar a tu habitación. El primer ascensor huele bien, la recepción regular, y si llegas al segundo (pobre de ti) ya te estarás imaginando por el olor el error que has cometido. En las habitaciones no se pueden abrir las ventanas porque hay una ventana nueva sobre las antiguas (me imagino que por problemas de ruido). A las antiguas no se puede acceder, por tanto, no se pueden abrir ni limpiar, y como se puede ver llevan años sin limpiarse. Como no fluye el aire, los pasillos tienen un olor fuerte muy desagradable, que prefiero ni pensar de qué será. Los techos del baño llenos de moho, y se aprecia que para camuflarlo lo han pintado por encima después de la reforma. El suelo de la habitación estaba pegajoso al llegar (adjunto foto), y se apreciaba suciedad tan adherida que ni frotando con el zapato se levantaba. Con esto te puedes hacer una idea del mantenimiento y limpieza que tiene el hotel. Por otro lado, no pasan servicio a la habitación, estuve 4 días y a pesar de poner el cartel en la puerta para que pasen el servicio, le dan la vuelta y lo ponen del lado de no molestar. Estuve con las mismas toallas todos los días, no me había pasado esto en mi vida. Respecto a servicios: Ducha sin alcachofa. Plancha con el cable roto. Había que esperar 10 minutos para poder volver a tirar de la cadena. Kettle cableada dentro del armario (que no sé como cumple inspecciones de seguridad). Jabones sin rellenar, y otras tantas que he olvidado. Por suerte no reservé desayuno. Por las noches se oye mucho la música de los locales. No vengáis.

The room was situation on the second floor which meant it was easily accessible for both my friend and I, We stayed the night before a concert in which we felt we were well rested and in a secure area of the city. All the staff we spoke to were very polite and helped us with any enquires we had at reception. Although we had booked a budget room it still fulfilled the needs we had for our stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a break in the city due to it being in the city centre and close to all the shops.

Terrible overall dirtyness : in the room the floors were sticky, the shower was very moldy (as shown in the attached pictures) the bathroom was not a 4 star hotel standard (more like 2 stars or less). Corridors had a very strong and weird smell like bubblegum, probably to cover smell of mold. We were so displeased that we left immediately after check in and booked another hotel.

I think it felt as if the hotel lacked investment. The room was fine for sleeping in but was more pleased to be out. While clean there was just a feeling it was not.

We were on 7th floor the lift doors ocationly stuck and would not open or only open partially, had to manually open doors twice, the room was only serviced if you booked 24 hrs in advance. Car parking arrangements and concessions were not able to be accessed.

Schmutzige Zimmer, ohne Fenster, modrige Luft und das war bei der Buchung nicht angegeben, sonst hätte ich dort nie gebucht, weil ich Lungenprobleme habe. Hinzu kommt, dass es völlig überteuert war - 2 Nächte 305€! Außerdem waren sehr kleine Betten, schmal, kurz und die Matratze total weich. . Mein Sohn ist 188 cm groß und konnte in keiner Nacht richtig schlafen! Im Bad gab es nach jedem Duschen eine richtige Pfütze, denn der Duschkopf war fest angebracht und es spritzte einfach raus!

Great central location. Greeted by loads of cigarette ends and a pair of pants on the entrance steps for the whole of the first day! Mentioned it to reception and it was cleaned instantly.

Upgraded to superior. It was 2 little rrooms knocked into one. Tatty old faux leather sofa with a throw that kept sliding off. Generally tired and a very odd layout.

Close to Cardiff castle and the principality stadium.

Shower had mould in it, drain in shower didn’t have a cover, no power outlet in bathroom, room didn’t get made up despite sign on door requesting it. Had to ask for room to get made up and all they did was give new towels. Staff lack of knowledge on what to do when all the roads are closed when you have a car to park. Bed was very uncomfortable.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and it never disappoints. Beds are super comfortable ( we had the best nights sleep we have had for a long time). Breakfast is really good with so much choice and freshly cooked.

The location was terrific. It has everything you would need- it just has an age on it. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.

The odd elevator and stair situation - the hotel actually starts in the second floor. I’d recommend using the back entrance for convenience.

City centre location of the hotel was perfect for accessing main sights and public transport and shopping and food outlets. Hotel facilities was great with a large spacious room with everything i needed including kettles, refreshments and water, hairdryer, wardrobe, air conditioning and fan etc. It was well soundproofed from noisy street below so I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was fabulous with a diverse choice of hot and cold food. Staff were pleasant and helpful. It is a very old hotel with a lot of character and the pictures of Old Cardiff adorning the corridors were a very nice touch.

Many fixtures in the room ( especially in the bathroom) were worn and perhaps in need of some updating and /or refurbishment.

There was only 2 things to like : location and the kind lady on the reception .

I've never had such a bad experience in a hotel; so dirty — the floor especially, paper scraps from the previous guest were still lying in the bathroom; the kettle was so covered in limescale it was impossible to use, the tea cups were dirty. I reported it at reception the next day, and the young Lady was so understanding and professional, she promised she would take care of it. When I came back to the hotel, the room had been thoroughly cleaned and the tea cups and kettle replaced. Water and apple juice were on the table (which had also been wiped down!). The next day, the room wasn't cleaned. When I asked at reception around 3 pm, I was told the rooms would be cleaned by 5 pm; by 7 pm it still hadn't been cleaned. When I asked again, the answer I got was: "What did I need, then?" This hotel doesn't deserve even 3 stars, let alone 4, and I wonder where these good reviews are coming from.

The hotel was in a perfect location and even though it was in the middle of town there was no street noise. The bed was very comfy even though the sheet didn’t fit. The room was very big.

The whole hotel was very tired. The bedrooms were ok but the bathroom was in a poor state of repair. The shower& shower screen was a bad design. There was no shower gel in the bottle. The seal around the bath was completely disintegrated. I was worried to fill the bath as it looks to have dropped? The sink was really scratched. The breakfast was probably the worst I have ever had. The bacon was hard from being under the heat lamp too long, nothing was topped up while we were in the breakfast room. So pretty much no hot items. Everything was swimming grease, it was really awful and it cost us £12 each, which is a lot for toast, cereal & fruit which was the only edible items there. Another note is you cannot drive to the hotel. One way systems and no access for normal cars. Buses and taxis only. Cameras everywhere and pretty sure we’re gonna get fined?

The room was small but enough for me, and despite the location on the liveliest street in Cardiff it was very quiet, close to everything and I had comfortable sleep. It is a tad dated and faded, but certainly good value for money.

My room was not serviced despite me placing ‘please service my room’ sign on the door, and the parking garage they recommended was difficult to use as a person with limited mobility, and it was expensive; the parking discount code did not work which made the stay more pricey than I had anticipated.

La struttura all'interno ha un aspetto abbastanza elegante, La posizione è eccellente, nella via principale di Cardiff, in area pedonale nel mezzo della movida, le dimensioni della stanza molto generose, la stanza era al 4° piano e non sentiva nessun rumore provenire da fuori, anche perché l'affaccio comunque non era totalmente sul viale, il letto troppo morbido ma è un gusto personale.

La finestra piccola ed alta che non permetteva di guardare fuori. La doccia molto grande ma priva del doccino, purtroppo avendo solo il soffione superiore eri costretto a prenderti (parzialmente se ci si metteva in un angolo della doccia) un getto di acqua ghiacciata prima dell'arrivo di quella calda. Mancanza dello spazzolone del WC. LA COSA PEGGIORE IN ASSOLUTO Il parquet era appiccicoso, una sensazione insopportabile, le ciabatte che rimanevano attaccate facendo un fastidioso rumore ad ogni passo. probabilmente (voglio sperare) è stato utilizzato qualche prodotto non idoneo. Ho alloggiato 2 notti ma la mattina la mia stanza non è stata ne pulita ne rassettata sinceramente in un 4 stelle è dovuto.

We had a comfortable bed and it was nice and quiet considering we were right next to the main shopping precinct. The lady in the reception area was very helpful to our needs. The hotel is a 5min walk to the train station.

Pulizia della struttura assolutamente carente, nessuna insonorizzazione delle stanze, cartacce in giro per i corridoi, cattivi odori nella stanza e nei corridoi, mobili datati e letto scomodo.

This hotel use to be fantastic however since it’s switched owners the standards have beyond dropped! Dirty lining & rubbish bags outside the lifts for many hours. No WiFi even though there was supposed to be. Dirty room our feet were sticking to the floor thankfully we both had flip flops! Mold in the bathroom someone’s pubes on the floor didn’t even shower in the morning as it was that nasty. It use to be lovely will never stay there again.

Not much. Quite old and filthy windows that looked out on very busy and noisy St MaryStreet. Noise went on til 2 am. The so-called superior room was simply two small rooms put together with a bed that had almost no space between it and the wall.

See above plus only a small shower head above a very high-walled tub and no hand shower which is most inconvenient. Air conditioning was hardly working. After arrival at about 3:30 we had to wait more than 2 hours for this very disappointing room. The room was not cleaned during our stay, the excuse being that they were heavily under-staffed. Oh yes, parking! The site said there was free parking. Not true. Instead we could park in a garage two blocks away, approaching our car via shockingly filthy corridors reeking of years old urine. The hotel gave us vouchers which would reduce the price by 50%. That too was untrue. Two days there, the voucher unaccepted each time. ‘Free’ parking cost us £60!

De vloer was vuil en plakkerig , de airconditioning werkte niet naar behoren, de badkamer was bedoeld voor mensen met een beperking ! we konden douchen en naar toilet gaan . Roomservice moest je aanvragen ? en was nochtans inbegrepen in de prijs bij de boeking, jammer

Found out in the morning after a too-warm night towel heater bar in the bathroom was on, competing with the A/C that was not very powerful. Shampoo was watered down, conditioner seemed to be shampoo, not conditioner.

The hotel is right in the city centre, we entered from the back entrance and there was no security at all, anyone could walk in and as the reception was two floors up no one would know. We arrived at reception and there was no one on the desk, another security warning. We were given a room key card and after walking along endless narrow corridors and up two flights of stairs, after the lift we arrived. The room was dark, smelly, the bathroom had black mould and the curtains and bed spread were dirty. The floor was also very dirty in the corners and for some bizarre reason there was a rubber bathmat on the floor going into the bathroom. As two women travelling together we did not feel safe in this hotel or wanting to sleep there, we checked out

The property location was perfect, right where we wanna be in central Cardiff. Surrounded by eateries and a Tesco express and right in the centre of town for shopping. The rooms were nice and clean and spacious and well facilitated.

It was a little dingy and less fancy than the images suggest. The elevator made some concerning noises and closed quite abruptly, crushing anyone in its way. But if you took the stairs you had to go up a fair few to get to reception, which isn’t ideal.

The bed was far too soft as were the pillows It had a thick winter duvet on the bed and we were in a heat wave! The bathroom needed up dating.

Low water pressure in bathroom sink, had to ask for clean towels. No housekeeping

The property was in a perfect location to explore Cardiff and very close to the train station, shops and castle

My room was not ready to check into at 15.00 hours. I was told this was due to lack of staff. When I did eventually get access to the room it wasn’t locked and door was slightly open. The room was dirty. I await contact from owner to address these issues but have been ignored so far

Central location. Near restaurants, bars and sights.

The floors in the bedrooms weren’t that clean. Bathrooms ok but not clean enough.

Location perfect for Graduation. Air-conditioning was great, lovely big room. & we were put in a quiet room as requested. Staff very friendly & helpful.

It was central to various amenities.

The windows were dirty. There was no reception desk, you had to walk up 2 sets of stairs to the 2nd floor for reception. There is a lift but it is at the back of the hotel, never ever seen that before. It says on booking.com it has car parking. It doesn't, apparently you get a discount at some car parks which we were not told which ones. We ended up parking in a NCP and had to pay £25 for this with no discount.
