Chulia Heritage Hotel

The hotel is situated where there are lots of happenings at night. Food outlet just outside along the road. Plenty of food and it's very convenient. All within walking distance. Even the Komtar is not far away. The room is nice. The bed is comfortable.

Only the shower is a bit slow.

Location was good, near eateries, bakeries, ample parking space. Staff was friendly.

The overall condition of the hotel is old and definitely needs reworked. In my room, the water pressure was horrible - made worse when the toilet cistern is refilling, shower slows to a trickle. Electric shower heater circuit breaker test failed, so as not to risk my family's safety, I turned it off and bathed in cold water. I did ask the staff if there was another Family room but all was occupied.

Quiet environment. Spotless. Easy to get going. Grab can pick up in front of the hotel. Near to Armenian Street (by walking).

No mirror in the room. The only mirror is inside the bathroom.

Fantastic location and slightly back from the main road so quieter than you’d think and easier/safer for taxi pick ups and drop offs. Really clean!

You could hear other guests quite loudly from our room and no window - but neither a big issue for us at all.

Great stay overall! Clean and comfortable accommodations. What truly made my stay special was Dayang. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, welcoming me with such warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness. Her helpful guidance and attentive service made a huge difference during my trip. Huge thanks to Dayang for making the experience so memorable! Highly recommended.

Cuando llegamos al hotel, pensábamos que nos iba a decepcionar, porque la parte de la recepción está poco cuidada. Sin embargo, las habitaciones cumplieron nuestras expectativas, muy limpias y ordenadas. Las camas y almohadas super cómodas. La localización es perfecta, cerca de bares y restaurantes. A pesar de que no sirven desayuno en el hotel, encontramos uno buenísimo cerca, con café, bollería y tostadas de altísima calidad. Está muy cerca del centro también, a penas 10 min andando. El personal del hotel muy amable y dispuesto a ayudar.

Una de las habitaciones estaba al lado de la recepción, por lo tanto se oía todo. La recepción está poco cuidada, pero creo que están en obras y seguro que en breve quedará mejor.

Overall I am not happy here.There are a lot of hotels around Penang which are 10 times better than this..The toilet pipe is broken,loud noise ,no coffee or food, bedsheets are dirty.

The bed was ridiculously small - probably the smallest double bed I’ve ever seen. There was only one socket beside the bed and the other one was beside the front door. No water provided. Taxes are higher than other places and it’s over priced compared to other hotels.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. When I told them I'm working online, they allocated a room near the server ( next to the reception area) and the wifi connection was awesome. All the cafes and food eateries are within walking distance and parking is within the hotel itself. This has been our 3rd stay at Chulia Heritage.

I like the location; it's very near to a few eateries (just walking distance). They provide free parking space too so it is very convenient, knowing how hard it is to find side parking space in Georgetown. The staff who handled our check in and check out process was very polite, kind, and helpful.

Only one think that I wasn't very satisfied. The room was not spacious and soundproof. But we were fine with that.

I had a pleasant stay at Chulia Heritage Hotel Penang. The staff, especially Natasya, provided excellent service and was very helpful throughout my stay. The check-in and check-out process was very smooth and fast. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, but it was manageable during my stay. The hotel is located in a very strategic area, making it easy to reach nearby attractions around George Town. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with friendly service and a great location. Would definitely recommend!

Okay so, they lost our luggage and it ended up in Thailand. Natasha the receptionist, you better count your days. Hotel is under renovation and the rooms are very small and not the cleanest.

The room was uncomfortable, and the bathroom layout was completely unacceptable. Although the bathroom was small, the shower was awkwardly positioned between the sink and the toilet bowl, making it very inconvenient to use. Overall, it was a disappointing experience!

По прибытию еще раз взяли деньги за продивание, хотя при бронировании снимали деньги с карты на букинге. Говорили что эти деньги вернутся на карту. Мы отказывались платить еще раз а они отказывались заселять. У нас не было времени так как нам было надо переночевать на одну ночь и искать с чемоданами новле место сил уже не было. Оплатили еще раз. А первое списание еще не вернули. Поддержка букинга все еще молчит. Плюс дополнительно какие то деньги на налоги запрашивают которое не было указано

La chambres est ok. Il y a le strict minimum, la douche qui tombe au dessus des toilettes, le matelas est très dur... on sent que le moindre mètre carré est optimisé. Mais c'est ok si vous voulez être bien situés dans le centre et que vous ne venez pas pour le confort. Très propre, c'est agréable. Je n'ai pas apprécié le fait que nous souhaitions y retourner une nuit à la fin de notre séjour, mais qu'ils nous ont refusé l'option early check-in. Ils nous ont dit de soit booker la nuit entière soit d'appeler à 3h du matin (heure de notre retour à George Town) pour voir s'il y avait des chambres de libre. Bien entendu, on n'a pas pris de risques et on a booké un autre hotel ... J'aurais apprécié qu'ils fassent un geste et qu'ils acceptent un early check-in pour y rester la nuit suivante (surtout qu'on a proposé de le payer...). En tant que service client, je trouve que ce n'est pas professionnel et ça nous laisse un goût amer. Ils ne sont pas du tout arrangeants et c'est dommage car ça ne leur coûtait pas grand chose...

The staff are very helpful, polite and friendly. The location is strategically enough to walk around town. Air purifier inside the room is a plus point.

Improvement needed for cleanliness. Even on ad hoc weekday trip - the room is not at par: Shampoo was not refilled, got mosquito inside the room and i can see hair strands on the floor.

Central spot within walking distance of street food, tourist sites, and bus stops. Parking just in front of the hotel (limited on-site spaces ) which is very convenient.

Staff were friendly, location is very convenient (close to e.g. The Blue Mansion), nice that it's a little isolated from Chulia Street itself since that can get noisier at night.

Couldn't get an early check-in (but that's fine since it's not guaranteed), common bathroom was very small so hard to change in before I checked in. Bathroom for Petite Double Room was smaller than expected (basically the showerhead is right on top of the toilet + sink, so everything will get wet). Also wasn't clear that a RM100 deposit was required until shortly before checking in. All reasonable for the price but just be prepared that it's a 3-star hotel at the end of the day.

More mosquitoes in the room

It was set back from the street so it was quiet at night. The bed was comfortable and the ac worked very well. The location was about a 15 min walk to Armenia street and 25 to chew jetty. Lots of restaurants and food stalls nearby the hotel. It also near many bars but could not hear them from hotel.

The bathroom is a bit small and all of the light switches are by the door which means going to door to turn in bathroom light.

The room assigned to me was near the lobby restroom, and I was disturbed by the noise when it was in use.

We had a wonderful stay at Chulia Heritage Hotel in Penang and are truly grateful for the kindness and hospitality of the staff. Every team member we encountered was warm, helpful, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. The location is excellent—perfectly situated for exploring Penang’s historic streets, local food spots, and nearby attractions, all within easy walking distance. It made our trip so convenient and enjoyable. The hotel was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and very well cared for, which made our stay especially relaxing. Thank you to everyone at Chulia Heritage Hotel for making our visit such a pleasant experience. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Penang.

Llegamos a las 7 a.m después de un viaje nocturno en autobús y pese a tener la habitación lista desde bien temprano no nos dejaron entrar antes… la chica fue bastante seca y mostró indiferencia frente al no rotundo de entrar antes a la habitación.

Location was peak, room was also clean and comfortable. The staff were also very lovely, friendly, and helpful, from the receptionist to the security and the cleaning service.

The charging ports were quite inconvenient, especially in the second-best room. There was only one in that room and it's very far from the bed lol. However, i also stayed in the better rooms and i found the better rooms to be very lovely and the charging ports very convenient.

The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere. We had the standard room and it is not very big , but everything is clean and functional. For the price, this is excellent value. The staff is friendly. We appreciated having a guardian at the parking since we had our own moto parked.

The only thing that needs some changes was the door knob on the floor, which I find dangerous, anyone can trip n fall. Perhaps on the petite deluxe room can change the knob near door handle, please take note

Really well placed to explore Georgetown. Very clean and set back from the road so very quiet too. Natasha on reception could not have been more helpful. Large room with good wardrobe space. Excellent air con.

The bathroom is tiny and to shower you need to move everything out, including toilet paper, as the entire room gets soaked. Also you have to get out of bed to switch off lights!

Close to all the amazing food George Town has to offer. Staff was super chill.

Location is in the heart of Georgetown , easy access to tourist attractions and a lot of places to have street food.

We had 5 nights here. The property is in Jalan Chulia, but set far back from the street surrounded by a high wall so it is secure and quiet. There is also a security guard on duty and cameras. The location is wonderful. Close to the street food at night, Bus 294 to the Kek Loh Si temple and Bus 101 to the beaches at Batu Ferringhi are a few minutes level walk to Penang Rd. Easy walk to Armenian Street. Rooms are spacious and have a good bed (like a futon mattress) . We liked having a closet to hang outer things.

The bathroom is cramped with the shower, toilet and basin getting soaked when you shower.

Considering the average price of around €30 per night, the stay was good value for money. The location is definitely the strongest point – right in the center of the old town, with most places of interest reachable within 10–15 minutes on foot. The hotel was generally clean, and for a short stay of three nights it was perfectly functional. Overall, it did the job for a budget-friendly stay in Penang.

Since the hotel is on one floor and all rooms face the reception area inside the main lobby, it can sometimes get a bit noisy, especially at night. It wasn’t a major issue for us, but it’s something to keep in mind. Also, I would personally only recommend it at this price point – I wouldn’t consider it if the rate were significantly higher than €30 per night.

Bathroom everything was wet through when someone had a shower and because air-conditioning went off when nobody in the room it didn't dry and the fridge couldn't get cold because electric kept going off From about 6.45am the noise from the staff talking loud slamming doors dragging mop buckets dropping the brush or mop was so loud it wakes everyone up
