Lovely setting, great food and excellent staff
We had no spare toilet roll only one already started roll in the room
Beautiful old property in great countryside gardens
Room tired. Dusty. Curtains tatty. Shower miniscule. Poor water pressure. WiFi very slow.
Fantastic friendly staff .
Our room was a little disappointing however the stay was lovely
Loved that it is an old building. The entrance and downstairs is beautiful
3 flights of stairs to our room. I have mobility issues There are no lifts.
Beautiful building but a bit dilapidated
Very good breakfast
Csnt think of anything
Great breakfast
Beautiful venue, great staff - needs some upkeep of presentation
The venue was excellent
I was only thwir one night
Nothing really
The hotel itself is a genuinely beautiful building — the huge windows give the space a lovely, grand feel, and there's clearly a lot of potential here. Check-in was straightforward and the directions to my room were clear and easy to follow. The room itself was clean and had everything I needed.
Unfortunately, it was clear throughout my stay that this hotel isn't being loved or managed as well as it should be. Dust was noticeable throughout the building, and those beautiful large windows were covered in cobwebs and hadn't been cleaned. Around the hotel there were random signs that were just laminated sheets stuck to the walls, which added to the feeling that things were being patched together rather than properly finished. Staff weren't wearing any uniform, and were frequently not where you'd expect them to be — the bar and other service areas were often unstaffed, leaving guests waiting and unsure who to ask for help. Breakfast felt more like a temporary coaching-group setup than a proper, permanent hotel feature, which wasn't the experience I was expecting. The room had a few frustrating oversights too: the bedside notepad was a single small sheet of paper, and the bathroom light switch was oddly positioned behind the wardrobe rather than anywhere sensible. The curtains weren't blackout, which made for a bright room early in the morning. More seriously, the doors weren't fire doors — which is a genuine safety concern I'd hope the hotel addresses. Overall, this hotel has real potential — the building itself is lovely — but it needs far more professional management and a lot more care and attention to actually live up to it.
The history the closeness to the country park breakfast was lovely kindness of staff soft bed and pillows
Wear ear plugs as could hear people in next room and function music
Really big and airy room, Bed comfortable Bathroom was really nice, a good size

Beautiful and gracious property, sadly a little tired ,nevertheless still beautiful .Superb evening meal and the home made soup was the best I had ever eaten .Very well cooked breakfast with good choices for all tastes .A good choice of hotel for my wife and me .
We had to ask twice for a hairdryer for my wife but upon second ask it was supplied quickly
How spacious the room was and the bed was comfortable
The shower seemed to take a while to warm up, and the bottom of it felt quite slippy (could benefit from a rubber non slip mat)
The building and it’s history
Looking a bit tired
none
shower very small cubicle no hot water on arrival. view very sad overlooking top of other properties.
The room has been called by others. "Outdated" i quite liked it the way it was. Its a very old building however very well kept. Average temperatures throughout the hotel. Not too warm not too cold. And the dinner that we booked was excellent. It gave me and my girlfriend a great chance to connect under outstanding vibes. A very beautiful hotel 10/10
The quilts and towels were perfectly clean. However the bedsheet wasnt. It did have some stains.
The property is incredible- it’s so quirky, room was spacious, and we had a tiny balcony which was great, one of our rooms was upgrded, which was a lovely Surprise. There was one member of staff- think he was the manager, who was amazing- super helpful and friendly. Food was lovely- we had one meal in the evening which was good, and great value, buffet breakfast was amazing Location is amazing- halfway between Nottingham and Sherwood Forest, and had forest walks around the hotel itself.
The housekeeping lets it down a bit, one of our rooms (we booked 3) hadn’t been cleaned and we had to ask for the bed sheet to be changed, and you could write your name in the dust- this was rectified though, We had one breakfast which wasn’t buffet, and the avocado was inedible - really disappointing after the 2 previous days of fabulous buffet breakfasts. Be really wary of staying here if there’s a function!! The room our kids was upgraded to was right above the ballroom, and the noise was deafening- felt like the walls were shaking- The guests were all outside it was so loud- Thee was also a function in the front car park the following day, with live music, but it self like we were intruding by walking to the hotel entrance- and the music was ALL DAY-
The building is an architectural gem. The grounds are immaculate. The L shaped room was big enough for 2 king sized beds. The bathroom was also very large. Everything seemed to be clean. Sufficient towels provided. tea / coffee / biscuits provided.
No lift so struggled up the beautiful elegant stairs. My room the viscount was directly over the bar. The noise from the bar was horrendous and being on a main corridor . My partner couldn't come so the lack of a security chain on the door was rather disconcerting. The TV remote was old and had its back missing. The TV was positioned so that you couldn't use the master bed and watch it. This could be remedied by either swapping the position of the bed and pull out sofa or fitting a bracket to the wall that allowed the tv to be pulled out. I slept in the pull out . The kettle needs replacing switches off before time. Provided tinned water which tastes metallic, milk in plastic pots one of my pet peeves. No power sockets for recharging phones by the bed. Furniture very old. Bathroom needs a refurb to be a walk in shower might be big enough to have both + bath. For a 3 star hotel I ended paying a 4 star price as had an early check in fee .
Great historic hotel picturesque location, large rooms, great view. Excellent food, great bar and terrace. Staff are friendly and courteous. Plenty of car parking. Can easily get taxi into Nottingham.
Slightly tired bathrooms but price reflects that.
Beautiful building with lots of history and beautiful surroundings.
Unfortunately slightly dated and needs a lot of investment to get it up to the standard it could be. Not impressed having to pay extra to check in early, especially as our room was ready.
Lovely rooms, views of the gardens were beautiful. The staff members were friendly and approachable, and the communal areas had lots of space. The location was quiet and pretty.
The beds were extremely soft, which isn't great for our backs. The breakfast menu had several teas listed but not all were available at the time. However, there was enough choice that it didn't matter.
the room was dirty there was spiders and cobwebs
the standard of the room and the cleanliness
The location was amazing. It felt like you were stepping back in time. Such a beautiful area. Has a mysterious air about it. The staff were amazing! They were so friendly and helpful and Chloe was really good! The bed was so comfy and the food was fantastic.the food also was amazing. I loved the homemade chips! And breakfast was great.
The only thing I would say is my room looked a tad bit tired in terms of the walls , but actually it kind of fitted the vibe so wasn't a totally bad thing.
Rustic
The view from my room was beautiful. The staff were lovely
There was no mini fridge in the room
Location
Food long wait ran out of choices
Big room and decent bed. The shower was hot and reasonably powerful (big plus). The staff were all super friendly.
Nothing really; maybe a bit dated and could do with a bit of modernising.
I’m well aware of the property I used to live to the rear it’s a stunning facade.
Opened the windows to let some air in and there was rubble on the ledge, tiny desk fan to cool wasn’t adequate
Excellent friendly staff. Room was immaculate and food was great.
The furniture & decor in the room was a little dated, however the room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff member on our arrival was very friendly and efficient. The free water in our room was a welcome touch. We only used the hotel as a base for an event in Nottingham and never used any of the facilities. Although the bar area looked rather splendid and perhaps a great place to sit, relax and have a drink and something to eat. The gardens looked like a lovely area to explore.
Nothing.
Staff very friendly and helpful
TV not good in King Edward. Couldn't get normal channels..
Overall, I had a pleasant stay, and the hotel is beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and I enjoyed my time there. However, I do feel that the hotel could benefit from a more thorough clean, especially the windows, which looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Considering the price I paid, I also expected the room to be stocked with two face towels instead of just one. In addition, the shower had very low water pressure, which made it less enjoyable to use. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but with a few improvements to cleanliness and the room amenities, it would better reflect the price charged.

All the staff were fantastic!!!! Food was the best I’ve had in 7 weeks of travelling.
Nothing.
The location
The critters in the bathroom
Beautiful building in a great setting. The atrium/bar area is stunning and the food was lovely in there.
Our room was quite basic (20A) and felt like we were in the loft. The breakfast was disappointing- not a massive selection and felt like no effort had been made to make the dining room more appealing. I don’t mind a buffet, but make sure there’s plenty there not like tiny bowls of cereal you feel guilty for using up and I’d suggest they serve the hot drinks.
Nice location
The rooms were dated and needed a refurbishment. It was very hot and sleeping was difficult even with fan on full.
great history
Lovely old lodge w/ interesting history. The receptionist was very nice and moved my room away from the wedding reception…. Before I even asked!
I could hear the man next door coughing through the night
Had a fabulous evening with delicious food. Not been for a long time but it’s worth the wait
Nothing
arrived exhausted and hungry after a day of racing at Home Pierrepoint. There had been no pre warning that a wedding party had taken over the hotel and clearly not enough staff to cater for everyone. We had to hunt down a staff member to check in. We had a table booked for dinner, when we came down there was no table ready we were sent to the bar whilst a table was cleared and laid. We waited a long time for someone to take our order, one main course took nearly 90minutes to arrive and it was inedible. The room was tired and grotty

staff not great, got there and given incorrect room, was told there were no twin rooms left so can somebody not sleep on a bed settee? Once i asked for a refund the correct room suddenly appeared, next door to my original room. Beautiful building but old and tired rooms, desperately needed decorating. I wouldn't stop here again, only saving grace for me was the good breatfast.
Location . Friendly staff. Check in and out times Atmosphere
Room was a bit dated and needed stains removing around walls of bed area /repaint
Character property, good parking, spotlessly clean rooms
Didn’t know we were on 2nd floor and no lift, with guest with heart condition . Wish we had known this on booking. Room rather cold and dark, poor illumination, no bedside light. Room in need of refurbishment,
Noisy - if you like a disco in your room you will love it here
Amazing location Comfy bed
Staff and location
Hotel does look tired but it is part of the features
Clean & good sized room
Brand new bathroom was nice but almost no water pressure in the shower
Really late arrival by me and check in but receptionist was amazing, friendly, helpful and concerned that I may not have eaten. Room was super comfy and quiet.
Bath is really small and hotwater takes a long tome to come through for the shower.
Clean rooms very friendly staff who went beyond to help with anything
Location
A bit shabby and run down
Great location
Cleanness
Staff were friendly & helpful
Not clean Shower head leaked Curtains didn’t cover the window Bed was too small Room was too hot as radiator was on No lift
Local for my needs
Nothing all good
The old place has charm good staff Fair pricing Satisfactory breakfast Big TV in my room, though I did have to re-tune it once that was done I had a full range of channels Quiet location Big comfortable bed
Very Poor WiFi signal My room needed decorating Shower Water flow very low
Charming old house, full of history. Lovely staff.
Small bathroom. Whole place tired and in need of decorating/renovation.
Breakfast was great the hotel is a beautiful building the room was fantastic and spacious the staff were excellent
Funny story really - we ordered a bottle of Chablis as we were celebrating but they had no cork screw ! The manager searched everywhere and then said sorry but you can have the higher priced bottle for same price so there was only the Pouilly fumee - guess what it was also cork screw 🤣🤣🤣they gave us two bottles to make up for it which was great - I hope they now have a cork screw attached to the bar so no one can steal it 🤣
The location is lovely
It’s very outdated. The bed was not very stable. Could do with new carpets and furniture
Breakfast was ok

Location and reception staff
Housekeeping useless, room was Taty only one window would open, room felt damp and stuffy, paint on windows peeling off same for Wallpaper.
Stayed here for two nights and had our wedding here. Service and stay was excellent and staff were very attentive. Food was lovely and the location is perfect
The staff were very friendly they would go out of there way to help you
There is nothing I didn't like about it
Room could of been cleaner and woke up this morning to a spider on the celling and the room could of been better
Bathroom was 100% spot on just bedroom could of been with a lick of paint
The food was excellent. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The beds were so comfy. Definitely will stay here again and would recommend it to all family and friends.
Nothing at all.
My daughter loves the steak and it’s cooked to perfection for her. Friendly staff and amazing setting.
Could hear breakfast staff setting up from our room. TV didn’t have great signal.
Nothing was like a hostel
There were ladybirds all in my room it was very noisy there were groups of people near the foyer smoking drugs I was on my own and it made me very nervous to even go outside to get something from my car I did not sleep at all with the noise and the breakfast was cold
Location was good
Very tired and dirty Rooms were old and poor condition
A very interesting building in an attractive location.
I had a parking charge notice despite putting my Registration in the system
Lovely place! The staff were really friendly and the room was gorgeous! Really lovely building to be in, felt quite magical
Nice comfy bed.
A very noisy fan underneath our room from early morning and onwards. Also the property is looking a bit tatty.
Lovely hotel in an amazing setting. The syaff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had everything you could need including a nice view of the woods.
The only downside was there was a lot of noise from other guests going past the room door and you could hear the other doors banging closed (which was knly a problem as it was late at night and I was trying to sleep)
I liked the history of the place and some of the artefacts on display. The main hall was especially attractive … It was v quiet and it was a quiet bedroom.
The room we had was tired , although v clean, and the pillows were not comfortable. The shower was somewhat erratic!
The historical context was attractive. Room was okay but am pretty sure we were staying in the old servants’ quarters, which was fine.
Shower very difficult to operate. Plus the stream was weak and leaked.
The whole look of the place was excellent, staff were friendly and food was good including the breakfast altho we were only offered one cup of coffee & tea.
We stayed in the King Edward Suite. There were loads of ladybugs flying about in the room and few dead ones on the window sill. The shower in the bathroom was falling to bits as well as the blinds. Two doors in the room did not close full on at all.
The staff were friendly
Very dated and the room needed decoration. Stains on the walls!!
The room was a good size. The bed and pillows were comfortable.
The shower unit was very small. Ladybirds seemed to like our room a lot but we understood this was due, in part, to the location.
Location was good, but I chose that
1. They shut the bar at 9:58pm with no warning. They could have at least asked the two people on the bar (I had a friend come to visit) if they wanted any more drinks! 2. I didn't appreciate being woken up at 7:45 by kids in the next room running around and constantly banging. From what I can tell there were only two guests that night. Why on earth did they put a family with children next to a solo traveller. 3. The window has a freezing draft coming in making the room very, very cold. The tiny radiator could not heat the room (10)
Lovely historic building
Decor and carpets a little tired - ready for refurbishing
Big, very comfortable bed. Big, warm room. Quiet. Wi-fi good. Character.
Bestwood is a big, old building, - with 'character' come the challenges of being hard to heat, hard to light to make it feel 'comfortable' - the dining area in particular felt chilly (not so much cold, but brightly - harshly - lit).
Beautiful building etched in history set in a secluded country park North of Nottingham city. The decor and design is of an era set back in time. Room was a little tired however it was pleasant enough for the purpose it serves.
Nothing !!
Breakfast was lovely.
It was expensive to eat at the hotel from the restaurant
The historic building and sympathetic styling was very attractive. The room was clean. The staff were very welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and were happy with the quality of the food and value for money.
The furniture was marked and in need of refreshing.
Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was dreadful, really poor quality. Would not stay here again.
Breakfast and food generally was very poor quality.
Great Old style English statley home, fantastic to look at (not to close)
Squeeky floor boads but its an old house, inch of dust on wardrobe, random screw on bathroom floor, booked month in advance £120! 1 day before stay £80!...
It is an amazing building in a lovely location. Walks on the doorstep. Excellent staff and room cleanliness was good. Breakfast selection was good.
Old furniture and damaged furniture. No lift (with an elderly relative). Not much attention at breakfast - cold coffee, no cups. Beautiful views of the gardens but through dirty windows.
Booked the hotel as it has outside space to wander so not limited to hotel building. Weather was good so sat with a drink on very nice terrace with view of trees.
Difficult to find the hotel. Although we were very close at one time we still couldn't find hotel entrance only the country park. This could be remedied by adding a few directions to the website or on an email. The hotel is historically interesting and can see why it is probably popular for weddings etc. however it is need of some repairs and decorating. Needs investment to make it really good.
