The property is lovely, it had great views of the sea front, Comfortable beds, slept great!
Up a one way street and no parking, car parks in ilfacombe are not cheap which adds at least £16 a day to your bill
We had a wonderful stay at the Olive Branche. The room was very large, with a sea view and tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and bedding and everything was immaculately clean. Breakfast was fabulous and cooked to order. The owner, Jo was so helpful and considerate of my husband’s Ceoliac allergy and able to cook delicious gluten free option. We would love to have been staying on a Thursday to enjoy the Sea Shanty evening and will definitely consider returning for that. We found the location very pleasant and perfect for us to walk to and from the Tunnels Beaches where we were attending a wedding. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Olive Branche for a stay in Ilfracombe.
Everything was excellent. Really enjoyed our stay. Jo made us very welcome.

The superior room was lovely: great views, great bathroom, very comfortable. And a fantastic breakfast.
Friendly, good communications. Excellent location. Great breakfast.

Everything it was perfect so clean and comfortable and the breakfast was to die for

We stayed in the ‘large superior room’, which was huge and had a great view - definitely recommended. Very comfortable bed, quiet and large bathroom with whirlpool bath and shower. Jo was a very welcoming host and the breakfast was great - cooked to order (options, including vegetarian, selected the night before) with plenty of cold options too. Location is good, away from the noisiest pubs but <5mins to the harbour or, in the other direction, shops. We’ll definitely stay here next time we’re in ilfracombe (on the way to Lundy).
Nothing to dislike!
A fantastic b and b. No fuss on arrival, a set of keys to our room and one for the front door to come and go as we please. Amazingly clean room, bedding, facilties. Tea and coffee provided. The loveliest breakfast ever!!
A very creaky bed. Comfortable but creaked every time we moved.
The location was perfect for me close to overnight parking and the harbour.
Nothing it was exactly what I wanted
The Olive Branch is a perfect location to get to everything you need in Ilfracombe. Our hostess, Jo was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything in the area. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious. Highlight of the week was Thursday night's Sea Shanty songs.
Norhing.
Friendly staff very comfortable room with a good view an excelent stay wpuld go again
Only problem was parking had to park in council car park which was expensive
I loved the quirky room on the top floor with a slipper bath actually in the bedroom. The owner /manageress was very friendly and helpful. The location was great for the beach /harbour and town.
I was on a motorcycle tour, so parking was a bit of a problem as there is no dedicated parking for the guest house. However, I was fortunate that a parking space became available close by. There is a paid car park just 100metres or so down the hill. The guest house is situated on a steep hill, which may not suit people with walking difficulties.
The room was huge and the bed was big and so comfortable. Breakfast was great. Great views of the sea and very clean.
Spa bath not working
The property was set in a great location close to the town centre and sea front. It was also beautifully decorated and relaxing! The bath in the bedroom in room 3 was great, and there were some stunning views of the harbour! The hosts were amazing too, offering us an intenary of things to do, as well as allowing us to check in early at 1230. Both were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also lovely!
There was nothing go dislike! It was all good. We would certainly return!
The room was very well appointed although the beds were a little soft - but very comfortable and the linen was excellent. The breakfast was of a very high standard and Jo was extremely hospitable and helpful with a wealth of local knowlege. The house has a wonderful age to it and was a pleasure to stay in.
Only the beds but that is personal preference.
online i had booked the large room, well it was huge!! great room, location. Breakfast was lovely and catered for me really well as i am gluten free.
Lovely historic building, lovely owners, great breakfast, great location

I liked the breakfasts
It was easy to contact Jo, who was so friendly. Great location and a lovely room. The eggs with my breakfast were beautiful. No complaints from me, I will be staying here the next time I'm working in Ilfracombe.
Nothing.
Excellent location, fabulous view from our room, great breakfast, we were very well looked after.
We had to leave to go home!
Cute place, lovely welcome and fabulous breakfast. Jo the hostess/owner was wonderful. We also arrived on a Thursday evening when the local sea shanty singers were having their weekly practice in the bar and we were welcomed. We had such a fun night- it was totally unexpected and we loved every minute!
Quite a few flights of stairs, paid parking offsite and a fairly tiny bathroom.
Aussicht auf das Meer im obersten Stockwerk. Das Personal
für schwere Koffern fehlt der Lift. Da wir nur eine Nacht blieben haben wir für eine Nacht Gepäck hochgetragen
Breakfast was fantastic and Jo's cooking was wonderful. The room was lovely and had a great view of the sea which was a major bonus. Jo was a brilliant host and really looked after us during our trip. The location is also great, being only a 2 min walk from the harbour.
No free parking on site (cost us £15 a day at the car park)
Sehr gemütlicher und schön eingerichteter Frühstücksraum. Jo hat gut geschaut, dass das Zimmer kühl war.
Clean, functional and in the centre of Ilfracombe. Friendly staff and great breakfast.
Nothing
The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The view from the room was enchanting, across rooftops to the harbour.
The shower was too hot to be useable. We didn't report this at the time as we were using it mid evening and did not want to have the disruption of it being fixed when we wanted to sleep.
Lovely room, spacious and lovey views … Top breakfast and friendly owner 🥂
… a little walk to the car park … ( but not far really )
Very lovely place. Great staff

Great location, staff helpful and superb breakfast.
Seagulls at 5.30am! Not the property's fault of course! It did give the stay a nice 'seaside feel' though!
Fantastic stay. Beautiful room and view. Fantastic owner and breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend this to anyone. Try and get room 5 beautiful.
The view and breakfast and the staff
Great room (with unusual bath in bedroom) and service. Breakfast was fantastic.
Hard to fault!
Gorgeous breakfast; spotlessly clean room; warm welcome; helpful host
Noisy seagulls

This is two beautiful Georgian houses in lovely ancient Fore Street (about half way down the hill). We always stay in Room 5, an exceptionally beautiful and spacious room with a huge bow window looking out over the sea, plus a delightful en-suite with shower and a jacuzzi-bath. The bed in this room is a super-king size sleigh bed, divinely comfortable, with excellent quality bedding. For the greater comfort of guests there’s a fridge in the wardrobe with two wine-glasses. Plus the usual tea/coffee facilities. This is the only time in a year that I eat three meals per day, as Jo’s breakfasts are superb and irresistibly delicious (then we have to have lunch at S&P’s fish bar, then dinner at Giovanni & Luca’s). It couldn’t be in a better location, halfway between the High St and the harbour, and a few short steps from the Ropery car park, where you can leave your car for £15 per day. So, perfection for lovers of Georgian architecture.
Georgian builders were not very attentive to the issue of noise, and you can hear every footfall made by the people in the room above you. But this is a small problem.
Lovely spacious room with beautiful bath, great breakfasts, super location.
Lovely room and breakfast. 5 min walk to harbour with lots of restaurants in the area..
Lovely building, lovely room and beautiful view (Room 5). The only improvemnet needed in the room itself is in the bathroom, which could really do with a cup or toothbrush holder and a flannel or 2 with the towels is something we expected but no big deal. The shower was too hot to use, almost boiling and no amount of trying to 'mix' to cool worked. So had a bath instead, so again, no massive issue. The breakfast was excellent and the setting (The piano room) was exceptional. Good quality produce cooked to a time of your choosing the evening prior. Would we return? Yes
No flannels or place to put toothbrushes.
Quirky bathing facilities! Certainly something to remember! Jo was a friendly hostess
Pre booked breakfast! Like to decide on the day
Lovely welcoming owner. Delicious breakfast and perfect for our night before going to Lundy. Very tolerant of all our bags!
A wonderful stay. Our room was large and lovely and the bath to soak in after a long hike on the SWCP path was very soothing. Great location close to some charming pubs and restraunts. Breakfast was also lovely. Highly recommend.
Nothing. Everything perfect!
We had a beautiful room with a sea view, huge bed, clean spotless linen and good facilities. Host was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious.
Nothing to dislike
Renovation & attention-to-detail for my room (number 3) & general facilities
Room 3 only had a bath; which is very unusual for modern properties. And this was compounded by a warning from the Olive team NOT to spill water from bath onto floor. Serious water & other utility issues would arrive. The Olive Branch CHOSE to have an open bath. Felt scared to use bath for fear of dripping water. Install a shower; more economical, more refreshing etc.
Location great, interesting place to look around.
Seagulls- watch them!!!
Very conveniently situated, near the harbour and a CAMRA good inn for the evening meal. Also a good Italian restaurant nearby. Breakfast couldn't be faulted.
No onsite parking, but long-term parking close by
Absolutely everything, lovely host, beautiful room, wonderful breakfast, I will definitely return xx
Very bijoux. Great location. Clean. Lovely breakfast.

The room was a good size with a view looking outward towards the sea. The room was of a good size with seating arranged at the bottom of a king sized bed. The owners were very accommodating and helpful regarding breakfast due to curtain food allergies and dietary needs.
Unfortunately, the wet weather seemed to knock out the signal for the TV. When it was fine, no problems; this was reported to the owners.
Owner/host was delightful. Room was lovely and the location handy to pubs and restaurants.
Nothing
Breakfast was fresh and diverse. Home made . Nic breakfast room.
Shower did not work properly.
Great location, fabulous views, the most comfy bed and the kindest host.
Nothing at all. We’ll be back! 😁
Great room and breakfast . Good location. Great place to stay with helpful host.
Up hill walk with baggage
Excellent location and lovely building with comfortable beds / linen. Wonderful breakfast and very accommodating host. Would definitely stay again.
Excellent breakfast.
Everything. Fantastic host.

All good. Really welcoming

Breakfast was excellent. Host was cordial and accommodating. Location was excellent with great view.
There was a problem with controlling water temperature in the shower and the jacuzzi jets didn't work, but that will apparently get fixed for future guests.
This has been our third stay at the ‘Olive Branch’ - always in room 5 with that fantastic view from the little jutty. Just sitting there with a cup of tea never fails to make our day. A very comfortable bed with a lot of space around and above, plus a tasty breakfast - what else could you want? Oh, and it’s only a stone’s throw away from Ilfracombe’s lovely city centre - go ahead! We will certainly be back at the next given occasion!
Parking can pose a minor problem there, although this time, we were lucky enough to find a parking spot basically in front of the house.
The Olive Branch is a lovely hotel in a great location, only a few minutes walk from the beach and the harbour. There are many lovely pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The room was lovely and clean with great views of the sea. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The host was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely with vegetarian options, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereals. I would definitely stay here again.
Nothing
Comfortable room with a view. Excellent cooked breakfast. Ideally situated for the port and sailing to Lundy Island.
This was lovely! The design of the place was perfectly in keeping with its location and purpose. Beautiful internal rooms and perfect eating area. Jo was a extra helpful in being there to let us leave our packs for the afternoon
Absolutely nothing
Comfortable bed. Very adequate single room. Good WiFi. Excellent breakfast.
No direct parking at Olive Branch, but managed to park pretty close overnight.
The host was welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was lovely with a superb view.
Couldn't fault the experience
Clean convenient
No negative points

Stairs to room could be a issue for some
Amazing room with lovely views. Decor was nice and felt comfortable.
Big Thank you to Jo for a lovely stay .

Very warm welcome and attractive decor. The room was lovely and furnished with quality! Breakfast was lovely and included fresh breakfast with vegetarian options!
Lovely central location. Great room with sea views and close to the town centre. Simper choice of continental and cooked breakfast.
Had to unplug the kettle and/or lamp to charge the phone. Single bed mattress by the wallpapered wall was very soft and dipped in the middle so not very comfortable.
The property is well placed. In walking distance of amenities. Would recommend. Jo was the perfect host. Breakfast was cooked to a high standard.
Nothing..
Large room , with good views. Had few issues with regulating the shower but the owner sorted it for us . The breakfast was good and plentifull. With a choice.
The shower control was very stiff
Warm welcome and good communication Very helpful owner/staff. Excellent room with good shoe and comfortable bed Lovely breakfast. Quality produce. Great coffee
Jo was a fantastic host, great breakfast and she made us a lovely pack lunch for our trip to Lundy Island
Exceptional breakfast
The area is very run down
Wonderful location, I loved Fore Street, walking down to the harbour or up to the High Street. I also loved the old building and the view of the harbour from my bedroom. Delicious breakfast, Jo is such a considerate host, nothing is too much trouble.
It was a beautiful guest house and an amazing breakfast! We loved the roll top bath!
Nothing
The room was very nice with a view of the sea and very clean and a lovely breakfast in the morning
Warm welcome from Jo, lovely room, great location and the best breakfast ever. We couldn’t rate the Olive branch more highly 🙂
The bed and bed linen were wonderful 🙂
It was all good
Comfortable and spacious. Great breakfast.
Parking was down the road which would have been fine if it hadn't been pouring with rain!
Very attentive. Lovely host who sat and chatted to us. Clean room and comfy bed. Had all the items you would need for a lovely stay and great location. Breakfast was also really nice and food was cooked to perfection. We did ask for something off menu which was catered for including an upgrade which was confirmed very quickly
Only thing I would have liked is sweeteners in the room. There were some available at breakfast however. Parking is offsite but was cheap and not far away still
Great location and delicious breakfast
