Great location and price. Bed was small but comfortable
Room smelt awful and radiator had a leak
Leaving.
Reception miserable. Attic room with very small single beds. Very slow shower with luke warm water , although there are signs BEWARE HOT WATER. You couldn't open the windows properly(old sash windows). 87 steps to the room (counted) up 3 flights of stairs made harder by the lift out of order . Overall appearance shabby and musty.
Very good location close to everything you need. Room was very large in size and was very clean.
Having to pay quite alot for parking in the hotel car park while your staying g in that hotel is very bad.
Nothing
Everthing
Good central location.
Small lift, lots of stairs, busy breakfast room.
Location Freindly staff
Was not clean. Room dusty, hair left in bathroom Remote for tv covered in muck and dust Not clean at all
Location perfect . By bus stop too
Remote control on tv didn’t work .
Great location, and staff were great
Stinky, mouldy bathroom, really tired decor. Iron i borred leaked all over my shirt. The toilet roll holder was full of poppy water and the shower was mouldy. Gross dirty carpet.
Lovely base to explore Ilfracombe
Could have done with a bottle of water in the room
Ilfracombe looks to be struggling like a lot of coastal towns. The hotel is not at its best but investment must be difficult. Breakfast only started at 0800 which isn't convenient if you have to catch a bus, train or boat.
Nothing special … very bad the room very smelly horrible decoration carpet stain and a stink smell No Parking very hard to find a car park, especially you’re staying in the hotel and providing a parking spot
Everything is horrible in this hotel
Excellent location beng opposite the park havingour dog with us.
We always seemed to miss the continental breakfast.
The hotel looked after us very well, breakfast was fine and the room ok.
The hotel is a little tired but it was perfect for one night.
Location was good, although parts of ilfracombe have really gone down hill. Other towns in the South of England are much nicer. Staff were lovely.
Not the cleanest and quite dated. Photos make it look nicer than it is. Parking is very limited but not bad.
bon accueil et explications pour un parking de 5 jours
Location
Bed was extremely uncomfortable and mattress must have been very old. Room was far too hot. Noise from ventilation all night. No blind at bathroom window. Far too bright light outside door making room too light overnight.
lots of guests offcourse roomdoors closing loudly a perfect stay in quite a big hotel charming and lots of space in lounge
Very clean and the location was perfect!
Very friendly and accommodating. Good location Hotel rooms need an upgrade but good generally
As said rooms need upgrade
The size
The shower was too small, the lamp shade kept falling off and was badly stained , we couldn't plug in the other lamp , it smelled like it had just been repainted but the carpet let it down as it had stains on it
Very excellent friendly staff.
Kids marching past your door early hours very inconsiderate
Staff were very polite and helpful.
The room was dated. Toilet not fitted to the wall or floor and moved around. Handrail in tiny shower loose. Furniture very old and dated and looked like it come from a charity shop. Wardrobe was supposed to be fixed to the wall but wasn't. Overall decoration was dirty and in dire need of a complete overhaul. Saw 1 cleaner in the 3 days we stayed so emptied the bins ourselves. Breakfast was OK but the English breakfast was the same for all 3 mornings with no variations!
Really close to tunnels beach wedding venue. Staff were very friendly.
Very dated and tired, lots of damage. Really in need of a refurb.
An extra pillow for each bed Toilet not very good at flushing away Taps very hard to turn off
Very friendly helpful staff. Great hotel stay for the price.
Shower a bit small and squeaky floors.
I was room only booking close to bus stop and seafront
Great location, friendly staff.
On arrival, crumbs on bedroom floor and rubbish in wardrobe, could have done with a bit more of a thorough clean. Tried to eat breakfast one day but gave up. Most of the hot food had run out, the cutlery was dirty, and the waitress never came round with tea or coffee.
The staff went above and beyond to help us while we stayed.
Parts of the hotel were a bit dated and needed some refreshing.
Pleasant enough but decor needed some tlc to raise the standard of the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good on the seafront.
Great location, great breakfast clean friendly staff
No parking
Comfy bed, breakfast included
Decor, no hot water in bathroom
We liked the location
Rooms very dirty not the cleaners fault how do you clean threaded carpet mould in the bathroom which i guess didn't matter because you could not use the shower as it had zero hot water so they changed us to another room which was good the staff but to no avail as this room was just as bad and there was hot water for the shower, well the drips that came out were hot. This hotel knows it needs a complete refurbishment it really does.
Everything was perfect great location
Only downfall was parking
The location was pretty good. That was about it sadly.
My shower had no hot water and/or pressure over my whole stay. There were yellow stains all over my sheets and duvet. I could hear EVERYTHING that happened in the room next to mine every night. In general it was just a very dirty and grimey hotel and room, and would not stay again.
The hairdryer was powerful
The list is too long and sent separately in an email. But specifically cleanliness and damage to numerous areas of the room.
Charme d'un hôtel ancien et bien situé.
Équipements vieillissants et chambres mal insonorisées
Staff are nice and friendly close to the sea
You couldn't see through the windows ( dirty)
Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good.
Rooms were basic and not very well cleaned. Hotel was generally quite run down and in need of modernisation. There was a lot of noise from both inside and outside the hotel.
Lovely staff, very close to beach, town and harbour
Shower was scolding and I wasn't able to adjust the temperature, which I did report. Urine stains to the side of the toilet, more attention to detail with the cleaning required in this area, otherwise overall was clean.
Unfortunately we saw our room, asked to be up graded but nothing available so we checked out and left.
The room, scruffy, smelly, dull, dark no view very depressing we just could not stay there so found an alternative hotel.
Clean and well situated. Staff were welcoming and helpful.

Location was good
Extra fee for dog, which is fair but not stated during booking. and xrta fee for car parking which is the same. false economy
Good, comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. Daily housekeeping was a bonus, as so many hotels no longer bother, and the breakfast was superb. Staff all friendly and helpful. I doubt we'll be in this area in future, but we'd happily stay here again if we were.
The hotel was very hot and there was no way of opening the windows to let any air in. I know this is for safety reasons and there was a fan provided, but it just wasn't up to the job.
Room very old worn-out
Great location, hotel was clean does need some work in some areas but room was clean and so were the communal areas, corridors need updating but for the price can’t complain
Breakfast was £12 each or £6 for cereal and toast, after we tried the breakfast it was ok but went to weather spoons for the rest of our time as it was 5 minutes down the road and £6 for a large cooked breakfast
Good choice of breakfast
Shower was luke warm and poor flow. Cleanliness was poor, shabby decor, dusty room. Breakfast staff member was abrupt.
The location was excellent and I found the bed to be comfy. It was clean, but I wouldn’t say it was immaculate.. it was decent for what we paid and to be honest we weren’t there much, only to sleep so it was fine.
The hotel is very tired looking, it could do with a whole new revamp, there’s damp patches on ceilings in the hallways, none of the windows in the room opened and the air felt very stale. The corridor had musty smell. Paint & wallpaper peeling in places, tired carpet and the window frames were chipped and could do with a lick of paint. I also found one certain staff member to be very rude! There was bingo on the Saturday night and I had asked a gentleman on reception if I could bring my 1 year old (who would have been in his pram) and he said yes. We got back from our day out in time for bingo, got ourselves dressed and ready, entered the bar and ordered a drink only for a lady to make a B line for us to tell us we were not allowed to bring a baby in here because they are noisy and distract the ‘oldies’.. fair enough, however her approach was completely wrong and just down right rude. It’s advertised as a family hotel but we were made to feel very unwelcome after that encounter. The bar was shut all day, I didn’t see any food being served at any point even though it was advertised. The room itself was fine, not amazing but you get what you pay for.
Needs some TLC.
Insufficient curtain. Dismal bathroom.
Upgrade bathroom which was OK for our purpose but may need to be modernised for longer stay.
It was nicely located near the beach front. It also was near where we wanted to stay, with parking just next to the hotel, which was convenient.
To say that the hotel is dated is an understatement. The carpets in the room were worn and dirty, the walls damp, and decor very dated, and the property not very well cleaned. The place just needs to be gutted and re-done.
The fact they allowed dogs good stay we have stayed there before
Die Lage
Man kann das Fenster nur einen Spalt öffnen, obwohl es extrem heiss war
Plenty of room in the loinge(s) staf were pleasant.
I specifically requested room with minimum of stairs for my slightly disabled wife, and also a walkin shower, not bath. Neither happened, despite a promise that both were possible.
Central location. Easy access to harbour and ferry.
The quirky layout. A small, slow lift. Lots of stairs, even between floors where the lift stopped. The corridors and breakfast room were airless and too warm.
Charming hotel with friendly and helpful staff
No soap in soap dispenser by sink so had to use shower gel. Aside from this all ok
Location, friendly staff and decent accommodation
Small bathroom and hot water not readily flowing Bathroom toilet had a leak.and bathroom floor was wet
Good location and comfortable bed. Nice staff
Extremely old and outdated. Loads of laundry in every corridor laying around all day. Pictures on the web are far away from reality. Feels like old hospital ward. Needs a good refurb because location is nice. Also It is mentioned that you have to pay for a car park to stay at the hotel but I think it's too pricey on top of the hotel price per night.
Clean sheets, comfortable bed
Room smelt funny and window didn't open. Had to change room. Second room was better but very cheap/poor quality fan broke in the middle of the night waking me up suddenly. I was disorientated by the strange noise and worried that the electrical motor which was still running was going to burn out/catch on fire. When I finally found the socket to turn it off I couldn't get back to sleep as I was hot and fretful.
Very close to the town and all amenities, very good value for money.
There's not much parking and its chargeable.
Posizione comoda al paese e ai servizi, prezzo ragionevole
Struttura decadente, parcheggio complesso come gestione, personale scontroso
Not much to me honestly, location is the only thing that was ok
The hotel it's self is just very run down , the bed was clean but everything else was dirty , I would not recommend or stay here again
It was a cheap stay for a wedding we were attending and the staff were lovely.
The hotel is extremely old and tired. The landing absolutely stunk of both sewerage and smoke. Our room was stifling, when getting ready for the wedding it was awful. The only window in the room was restricted to open at about 3" which made no difference at all. We had a twin room, my daughters mattress was fine but my mattress had the springs sticking out.
Staff are extremely friendly
Far too hot in the rooms, the corridors smelled of drains and as soon as I turned the tap on in the bathroom there was an extremely strong smell of drains and manure. Not present
Excellent location, friendly staff, optional entertainment, great price.
Room was a bit warm in the heatwave…
Great staff - very efficient and friendly. Continental breakfast particularly good value.
Slightly chaotic breakfast - you have to go downstairs to pay for it first.
friendly check in, great location, very quiet and peaceful.
rooms are dated, not very clean which was a shame but I only stayed 2 nights and was hardly in the room so wasnt such a huge issue.
The staff in the restaurant were amazing, so kind and friendly and extremely welding but unfortunately always rushed off their feet! They need support and help and shouldn’t be working on their own and sounds like there’s only one chef for breakfast that could do with another person in the kitchen due to the extras people request meaning there is always no hot food available because they are cooking extras like poached eggs etc for customer orders on the side.
No privacy! We were sat in our room in the middle of the day ( with the do not disturb sign on our door) and the maintenance guy let him self in our room without knocking or anything, and just said, oh, wrong room and left! We could have been doing anything!! No apology or anything! At that point we felt very insecure in ourselves and to leave our stuff in our rooms, from that point forward and we were still there a further night! Went and complained and dtill didnt get an apology for the maintenance guy, only told that he was looking for spare beds, so sounds like he was doing this to all rooms! And was told he was new!! NO EXCUSE!
Location
Size of room as was to small and stuffy
All Staff were very welcoming, friendly & helpful and breakfast was fantastic. And onside bar was lovley and good value.
No air con in rooms or even a fan, (although I didn't request one), and breakfast ending at 9 30 seemed early, 10am would have been better as we had a mad dash to get down I time. However, the staff accommodated full breakfast menu at 9.30 and we didn't feel any pressure to rush which was very much appreciated.
Central location, great staff
Problems with the Wi-Fi on the third floor
For a relatively cheap hotel you can't really complain. The rooms are large and clean. It's a faded seaside hotel but if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, friendly and cheap then it really can't be beat.
Location and receptionist upon arrival. Helpful and clear.
Outdated, worn decor which is well I need of an overall. Bed was uncomfortable, shower was cold. Bedroom needs alot of maintenance (headboard dropped and detached from wall. Room door needs repainted and tidied up. Lift, unsure what was happening but it was slow and unreliable. At breakfast, very confusing as no one was their at the door to greet, staff member not easy to identify from other guests. Also tea or coffee was poured from a thermo flask ? Not freshly made.
Just stayed for the night and it was clean and spacious. A great breakfast too. Thanks.
Friendly staff clean hotel
Rooms need updating Shower head needs replacing Cold tap in bathroom just trickled out water
Very disappointed with the shower situation. I tried running the water for long enough to run hot, but before it got to that stage, the shower tray started to flood and I could not get a shower at all. This was an unhappy situation to be in the morning after after I had had a long trip by motorbike down there the previous day, and an early start to get to Lundy
The shower should have worked properly or I was pre warned that this was the case and the price should have reflected that
Location and breakfast
Room not healthy, not clean, and not maintained to the standard. Stink and sticky carpet!
Staff very good and helpful Location good
Bathroom extremely dated, only two plug sockets, no fridges Lift small and slow but still had to walk down multiple steps so totally!! Unsuitable for any disabilities and there was no warning. Breakfast adequate but very little Only one girl working (extremely hard) but totally overwhelmed She had to ask for help as there were more than a dozen tables which she could not clear so there had obviously been a busy session Continental breakfast was woeful
Location is fantastic, staff were brilliant. Not sure about pets or breakfast as we didnt use. Rooms were basic but more than doable. Would happily revisit again.
Bed was not my favourite but totally understand as its a budget friendly place. Room was basic but again, budget friendly so I didnt mind.
I did not like that. They charge us £10 each for both dogs , which is wrong
It was nice , the staff were nice
It was kind of dirty , the bathroom and the rooms hadn’t been cleaned properly or as I was excepting as we booked 2 rooms the other room was very much clean
It was near the main bus route to Barnstaple and close to main shops and local attractions
The lift was too small and some way from room. It was quicker to walk down the stairs to reception.
Great staff and good value
Low water pressure in shower
Excellent staff very helpful
Did not promote breakfast
Great location and the staff were friendly
Worst shower I have ever had, the room was very run down and although the bedding & towels were clean the walls, bed base & chair etc were all pretty grim, the best was also super uncomfortable
Prompt check in staff were polite. Hotel clean and comfortable stay.Hotel is close to the beach front, theatre and short walk to harbour restaurants. Great for walking along the coastline. Very pretty area Ilfracombe.
Clean but maybe needs redecorating as flaking paint. Had to go up in lift as lot of steps/doorways to find out room on top floor
just nice and clean hotel, staff was very friendly and its pets free too
the room, the view was not very nice, around all I could see was brick, no views to see the town or anything at all
Friendly staff ,clean room good location
Shower door gap very small to get through
Breakfast was good, staff very helpful. Left my iPad behind and they kept it until I returned to collect it
Very hot in the room although cooler outside.Window didn’t stay open
The bed were very clean and comfy. The staff kind to our dog. The breakfast was a great spread. The staff on reception were kind and helpful and the staff during breakfast couldn’t do enough for us (Lisa)
The ventilation on the building was very stuffy and hot. The lift has seen better days and very compact
Location and price
All ok
Good location, and convenient to town. Nice breakfast
Was a little too warm, but it was a heatwave going on. A fan was provided once I found it. Windows were restricted opening which didn't help even though they were top opening ones.
Location is fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful. The communal areas were clean and spacious. Its clean, good value for money basic accommodation. Dogs are welcome too. Breakfast is a good choice and good value for money
The rooms are a little tired but clean. However, because of health and safety you cannot open the windows fully and during this hot weather, the rooms are almost unbearable. A small fan is provided but I would recommend you bring your own during a heatwave. The rooms get extremely hot indeed
Perfect location
Barking dogs in the gardens opposite early in the morning
The room had a
i like the town ilfracombe that’s the only thing that hotel has going for it is where it’s located
it was dirty and old the only part of the hotel that looked decent is the lobby area which is clearly where they spent all there money because it’s the only place where the staff are the room was hot and basically falling apart the female manager was rude and mean
Great location
Had no air in the hotel. With 30 the grease outside inside feel like 40. Windows has almost closed. Was hard to stay inside more then 20min.
Nothing
Everything ok! Thx
