De inrichting en locatie van het restaurant
Stayed at Lissard specifically for the Sky Garden and to explore West Cork. Lovely place to stay, with very friendly staff. The estate is well-maintained and beautiful. Highly recommened for anyone that wants to explore West Cork.
It is clean enough, but it will be nice if they vacuum the floor daily.
We began our afternoon with a Swedish massage which was fabulous and really set the tone for a lovely night away. Food was delicious, fine dining and although portions may have looked a bit small, the quality was so good that we were really nicely full. We had beautiful drinks and each staff member was super friendly especially Lena who served us in the restaurant. We got a complimentary glass of pop as it was my birthday and I received a lovely card which was very thoughtful. The grounds were immersed in nature and it was really peaceful. Would highly recommend!
Interesting house and adjoining lake house and grounds.
The lake house is a long way away from the main house initiating quite a 400 metre walk with steep steps and difficult in the rain and at night, necessitating a drive each time to breakfast and evening dinner. Limited car parking by the the lake house, meant a long walk with steep steps. The communal ground floor facilities in the lake house including the kitchen / conservatory areas where somewhat sparse, cold (as the front door was always left open) perhaps to the alleviate the smell of mice! It felt more like an outdoor hostel than a luxury hotel experience. The so-called ‘gym’ had three pieces of equipment in a small cabin with no ventilation. The yoga space was a similar very small hut with no ventilation. Although the views over the lake were scenic - the facilities were poor for the money. The dining was average, pretentious, not really a well balanced, modern menu or significant for choice and flavour. Liss Aird needs to up improve if it’s to succeed in repeat bookings.
So calming and relaxing. A lovely hotel with great food and staff! Grounds are beautiful and the lake is a beautiful space to swim and relax. Piano player was excellent!
Pull out bed was very uncomfortable for 2 nights -lumpy, could feel the springs digging in and a little lopsided. A simple mattress topper would’ve made a big difference.
Sauna schön gelegen am See.
The Manor House and grounds are beautiful, the rooms are furnished to a high standard. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The yoga and fitness pods overlooking the lake are excellent.
The dinner menu could be slightly more varied, however the food was very enjoyable.
Smart, well run hotel, in beautiful grounds. Friendly helpful staff, dog friendly room, spacious bathroom. Good food, dinner and breakfast. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Hadn't realised we were in Lake House, a good 10 min uphill walk to dining room, not good in wet weather, although they do provide umbrellas. Food good but a little expensive, pay extra for vegetables and potatoes. With a dog, nowhere to put poo bags.
Beautiful grounds and location. Very relaxing and friendly staff. Rooms were very cosy, decorated beautifully and comfortable beds.
More lighting and hand rails needed around paths and steps in the woods and lighting needed in the car parks.
Rooms nice bed comfortable
Expensive. Lake house a bit shabby outside Food expensive. good but cold when served. Rooms very hot even with window open and no heating on.
Beautiful estate with well appointed rooms set amongst a picturesque landscape. Excellent place to escape to. Will be back
Wasn’t informed the sauna would be unavailable on arrival. Would have booked another place if I had known.
Charming, and of the highest quality
The gardens are beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. Very nice walkways.
The service at breakfast was very poor and very slow despite the restaurant being very quiet. The place could do with a good deep clean and the sauna pods need to be painted. The beautiful walkways are let down by disused and messy sheds with abandoned machinery along the way. There was a sign saying to help yourself to snacks in the Lakehouse but there were none. If you want to use the sauna (which seems to have no shower) you have to pay an extra €50 for an hour, which is a bit much considering how expensive the hotel is. The overall experience did not match the marketing or the price.
Amazing location and great breakfast. Room was lovely though absolutely no view of the lake at all so the images felt misleading (views are from a communal seating area)
Poor staff response to some queries we had, spent ages finding our room and dragging luggage all around. Definitely would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. No help or staffing at the Lake House at all. Felt like a self catering rental. No fridge in the room.
Mancanza doccia , solo vasca bagno
We loved absolutely everything, it’s an incredibly beautiful place, and we will definitely come back.
Amazing place , wow definitely worth it
Restaurant staff could really work better
Beautiful property with great service. The bar is a fab spot to have a few cocktails and play a game. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely estate, great location
Room 5 , four poster bed too big for the room. No space to move around it. No bath in bathroom when it stated there was one. Downstairs restaurant lacks atmosphere and food over priced
Such a beautiful setting. We were at Lissard 7 years ago. Our recent visit was wonderful it has been beautifully upgraded and the food was fabulous! Staff all very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed every minute. We stayed in the lake house which has been beautifully decorated loved the bathrooms! Comfy bed and a good nights sleep. The little ginger cat was so sweet the children loved stroking and playing with him. Our eldest son and his wife stayed in the main house which was beautiful! They dad a bath in their bedroom which was stunning! The kayaking was fun. Thankyou for a wonderful weekend! We will be back!
We enjoyed the serenity, quietness and ambiance of Lisard estate.
Nothing
Beautiful setting.great walks.immersed in nature...lovely staff...spotless..gorgeous relaxing reading and piano rooms
Breakfast selection wasn't great..one type of yoghurt..just granola/seed&nut cereals available...could do with a wider choice especially for younger children
Fantastic hotel, lovely staff, great food and beautiful rooms and grounds
Nice grounds- plenty of space to walk around and explore. The lake is beautiful.
All facilities (sauna, gym, yoga) were closed. No EV chargers. Lake House is shabby. The hotel has a feeling of being deserted or unfinished. Very strange.
Wonderful retreat with gorgeous environment and beautiful views. Lovely amazing breakfast that I ever had. Very nice employees that treat you like King.
Nothing
Location relaxing beautiful food.
Too short a stay
Location and surroundings were idyllic. Accommodation, staff, breakfast and all the facilities were amazing!
The surroundings, the peace and quiet.
We were due to stay two nights but left after one (wasting €383.61 for the second night in the process - which gives you an idea of the extent of our dissatisfaction with it). On leaving early, the staff never even asked why we were going early or whether we’d enjoyed our stay! You can stay in a lot better for this kind of money but it needs to be in a hotel which is run properly.
Food was very good and the room in the main house was lovely if slightly cramped (Room3). Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Nothing .
Over my entire trip, the Liss Ard Estate was by far the most impressive we visited
No
It was very clean. We loved the nature around it.
Not enough signs. One of the paths was closed.
The staff are extremely friendly and do whatever is possible to assist their guests to enjoy their stay. The property is also very clean, hygiene standards are high. We enjoyed our stay, it's a very calm environment. But we probably wouldn't return for reasons outlined below.
The food from the restaurant is poor and way overpriced. The chef has an ego his cooking can't cash. No vegetables or potato with the main course, they were only a €12 side! The starter courses were way too salty, our table and the table behind us made a complaint about too much salt. Unfortunately our room was located in the lakehouse, however when we entered the room we saw no lake! We were advised at reception that we need to specifically advise that we wanted a lake view, to which we responded we didn't know we weren't getting one until we arrived!
Mooi statig landhuis
Really good quality breakfast options and plenty of coffee as needed, staff very helpful and friendly. Nice grounds for walking and relaxing and especially liked the gym and sauna facilities down at the lake.
Personally no problems on my side, my wife would have like some mirror in the main bedroom ( minor moan)
The property is beautiful and well maintained, it feels very authentic & is quite beautiful
Nothing
Huge room. Great staff. Good returns. Fabulous grounds to explore
The property is a period home converted to a hotel. It has all the elements of grandeur. It is clean and in good condition. The bathroom was large, modern and everything worked. The breakfast is more than adequate and the evening meal excellent with a good selection of wines
We had an unforgettable stay at this hotel! Everything was amazing – the room was clean and cozy, the location was perfect, and the breakfast… just wow! But what truly made our experience exceptional was the staff. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed.
-
Beautiful grounds and rooms. Very clean! Food was incredible!
For the price of the suite I was surprised that it didn’t include breakfast
The tranquility and luxury here is exceptional.
Breakfast was superb, lunch and dinner also very good. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Nice estate, great walks around the grounds.
Got 2 rough nights in a row. Our room was directly above the bar which stayed open until the early hours of the morning. First night the fire alarm went off at 2:30 a.m… we had just managed to fall asleep by then. The second, night, after several calls to reception, went downstairs myself at 2 a.m. to explain that sleeping was impossible. We tried the sauna but that thing didn’t get hot.
Beautiful grounds, charming buildings, lovely lounging spaces. Everything is pristine, warm & tranquil. But not precious, so you feel completely comfortable lounging around. Board games, tons of books, TVs, so great opportunities for family to sit & relax together. Didn't have dinner here, as had other plans, but judging by the superb breakfasts, you'd be delighted. Reasonable prices at the bar too. We stayed in the lake house, a bit removed from main house. Ten rooms. Two sitting rooms, with loads of comfy seating, games, TV etc. One full kitchen, with table. A conservatory. A patio. Find someone to rent the other rooms & have a lake house weekend together!
Had a good think about this. Couldn't find an answer. If I had to say something, I'd say: get someone to sand down & repaint the outdoor furniture on the patio at the Lake House. And railings etc around the utility building there. That looks a bit neglected, & at odds with everything else.
The hotel was fabulous. Lots on offer in terms of activities such as row boats, kayaking etc and a sauna for a small fee. The hotel itself is one house however there is a lake house about a 5 min drive away which is accessible via car or in the golf carts provided by the hotel. It was a great stay . The dinner was lovely however the bar afterwards was lacking atmosphere. Maybe a little background music would help. The staff were so helpful and friendly. And I love that the hotel is dog friendly and has such a focus on using their own produce. Overall A lovely Stay.
Excellent peaceful location for sections of The Wild Atlantic Way. Our Garden Room was small but adequate and comfortable to return to after a day’s driving.
A few niggles - stain on ceiling and light not working above bed (maintenance issue), window did not close properly (security issue), trendy 4 poster bed obscured clear view of TV (interior design issue). It was my husband’s 70th birthday during our stay. This was not acknowledged by the hotel and I had to chase the whereabouts of the celebratory bottle of Champagne pre-ordered and paid for by my children (management issue).
Very welcoming
Nothing
- gardens were beautiful - room super clean - very comfortable bed - home made choices at breakfast - nice decor in rooms - fresh towels everyday
- I wouldn’t say this property is a relais and chateaux. We booked this property thinking it would be up to the same standard as the others we have stayed in but it did not live up to the standard in any way in terms of service and experience. Such simple upgrades could make this hotel amazing and just give it some life such as - playing classical music or just some music in the lobby/hotel as it felt very quiet and a bit solemn and echoey when we walked in. - big bouquet of fresh flowers when you go in to just give it that fresh luxury welcome or even fake ones! - staff taking luggage to rooms and a welcome drink on arrival so you can settle in - front of house staff being bubbly and personable rather than shy and quiet - adding curtains to the lounge rooms so the rooms feel warm and homely and inviting rather than bare and mismatched The hotel looks great from the outside, but internally it just feels a bit unwelcoming. Not a 5* welcome at all. The dining and relaxation rooms lack atmosphere and it felt a bit sad.
