Always stay here as it's in a prime position
Normally book a room with double bed and 2 singles, unfortunately had bunk beds this time 😌
Location and staff
Not automatically having room cleaned
Not a lot. Just a generic hotel
Tired dated room Mould in the shower Showerhead was in need of serious descaling No bottled water in the rooms ( was advised to drink tap water. No hot water in the shower Breakfast was largely cold
Good location overlooking St James Stadium and easy walking distance to town centre
There seems to be no soundproofing in the room at all. We heard noise traffic and the music from the venue opposite was clearly audible until late at night. Additionally, we were up 6-7 times each night to move the fridge unit which randomly started buzzing. There was also a clicking noise throughout the night.
Dat ze erg meewerkend waren om eerder in te checken ,erg vriendelijke staf
Niks
Location
The price during great north run
I went for football game and the hotel is just across from St James Park. Ideal for my trip. Great staff and great service.
Nothing to complain about.
Location was perfect for the Great North Run

Nothing it was perfect
Excellent location, easy to get to from station.
Lovely hotel with great location Rooms clean and modern. Little nosey at night due to location however did not spoil our stay as was aware before booking. Car parking only a few minutes away overall great stay
Letto troppo morbido
location
no bath. small double bed instead of king size For the price, room is small and not much room for maneuvering.
room well furnished, high quality fixtures.
breakfast a little underwhelming.
Nice rooms nice staff comfy bed
Shower raiser broke so had to squat to shower after running the gnr wasnt what I needed, also window didn't shut properly so hear traffic sirens etc that was room 914
Location, Bed and Facilities
Breakfast so and so
Location
How much noise from the Stack came through a closed window
I liked how friendly the staff was and the location of the hotel.
For the price I paid and for it being a 4*hotel I expected it to be a lot better. The side tables in the bathroom was scratched, the floor had crumbs and dust lying around. The bathroom door was see though. It was a very noisy room.
Loved the location and the rooms
The room and location was brilliant for the price
The breakfast. Everything seemed half cooked, mushrooms hashbrowns, tomatoes. But the sausages great.
location was excellent, room was comfort able
All good but very noisy with drunken people everywhere 😂
Good hotel great staff
Nothing
close for hospital pre ops and operations
nothing
Its location was a real help as I have mobility issues
Nothing
I liked that the family room had cooking facilities and utensils
Nothing
Staff are so lovely. Perfect location. Super comfy bed and breakfast was good. I will be staying again
The cleanliness and stadium view
Nothing
The breakfast was disappointing and most items were cold.
Location was great
The view from the window was overlooking a dump at the back of the hotel. The room was warm. The glass doors in the room were unsafe.
Ease of check in Friendly helpful staff
Nothing
Location class for the Town and St James Park
The room was very small and pretty basic if I’m honest
Lovely place to stay staff where very friendly and great value for money!
I think it could of been a abit cleaner in the room
Good location
Nothing
It was staffed by love people
Very difficult if you have a car for drop off and pick up
The bar was great, the location was the best as overlooked the stack so we only went out for an hour as we had amazing bank holiday music from our view of the large hotel windows which suited us due to torrential rain . We also had the top floor room so the view was even better. Staff were accommodating and helpful
We had arrived at 2pm and although check in wasn’t until 3 we did ask if we could get into our room however they made it quite apparent this isn’t an option at all and you will not be allowed to check in any earlier as there’s no way all of the rooms wernt ready but it seems the case as they stated which wasn’t true and very obvious. Something I hope they will change as it does say you can check in earlier
Location
Room carpet not cleaned too hot small van opened window too noisy
The room was perfect with washing machine dishwasher etc very comfortable stay. Staff were all so lovely very helpful
The room could do with a deep clean
Location
The decor and style is a bit jaded.
Good location
Not very clear car park instructions
The view from our room. I picked the view I could see Newcastle United stadium. Room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable.
Some staff could be more friendly and welcoming. Even on checkout we weren't asked if we enjoyed our staying nothing like that which I found very disappointed.
Excellent location for st James park
The hotel location was great for us and our needs for the stay -hence why we booked here.... .Room was fine...the receptionist put us up high to limit the road noise which was appreciated.... Breakfast was great...as was the staff! They were super busy all the time! maybe look at more staff to cater for the demand?
Check in raised an issue - the staff member automatically was trying to add a charge for early check in - Pushy bad practice....to our account! We were 40 mins early... The £30 charge was ridiculous so we declined... left our baggage for free and had a drink at a bar... far less then £30...and checked in.. not long after! Again...pushing to add for late checkout - with again a charge!!! However,.... staff should check the room! Bathroom mirror light didn't work...bathroom extractor fan didn't work....carpet was dirty and damaged... not good enough. TV was not properly tuned to channels.... basic stuff really! We really felt that as experienced travellers for business and pleasure...it needed to be sharper!
Everything was good
Just so noisy as facing The Stack but a fan was provided and when window closed wasn't too bad. We wanted to be leezes park so price you have to pay I suppose would stay again though.
Location good
Noise levels from Stack
Room was amazing View was rubbish but not the end of the world
View
Room had a good style - shower was good. Location cannot be beat
The room was hot despite it being cool out... If it had been the peak of summer you'd be cooked. The bed was very used one side sank significantly more than the other.
Nice and clean
No towels
Staff were friendly. Room was nice and clean, tho some things were a little dated.
One side of the bed was very close to the wall. Music from The Stack was loud until midnight. No air-conditioning
In the city centre
Stayed in room 402 on forth floor and I have bites on my body clearly bed bugs or someone has had a pet in the room which has fleas I have bites on my stomach and legs. Was told the hotel was fully booked so I didn’t bother asking for a new room. But that room needs a deep clean asap as it’s not ideal at all. I also think maybe you should have options to stay in rooms where pets have not stayed in if this is the case of fleas in the room I would definitely of chosen a room that’s not had animals in
Close to St James’s
Very little
Everything! Excellent stay!
This is being really picky but maybe it would be nice for a complimentary bottle of water to be in the room!! But was hard to find a single fault
Perfect location
The noise Breakfast was awful
Close to the park and town centre
Nothing
Clean, comfortable, efficient. Good location, near metro station and walkable from main railway station.
Bit on the expensve side. No fruit salad at breakfast. Staff are bit too keen to clear tables.
Great central location
Lady on reception booking us in was lovely!
Shower
Good location
Nothing
Great value for money in the best location
Poor gym facilities, room was exceptionally hot.
Shower
Carpet full of blonde hair
The location of the room and the space the room had it was enough for myself and my children to be comfortable.
The room was absolutely boiling. I couldn’t open the window because it sounded like a large extractor fan was outside it was really noisy.
Location
Just ok.
Lovely room. we had a junior suite. The location was close to shops and pubs .
Nothing .
Was central to everything and a local shop nearby
Could open balcony window from outside of room so passersby could open out balcony window we just didn’t feel comfortable When we got there there was fake eyelashes on the floor and rose petals still on the floor from the stay before us also had to use a knife to get bath plug out
Excellent
Noisy with music from from of hotel
Very convenient hotel, brilliant receptionist, great location
Radiator was a bit dodgy, bed was tough
Location - staff -fridge in room
Looking a little tired now
The location was good for the football grounds.
The breakfast was very poor quality and not topped up, the fruit juice tasted like it was watered down, also the room was quite dusty.
Good location and very clean
No air and it was boiling also not much choice for breakfast options
As a lone female who was in Newcastle due to my partner being brought in for emergency surgery from Cumbria this is where I would recommend. It was late at night, I didn't know where I was or how things work in the City (I am from the country). I was extremely strssed, frightened and starving and hadn't eaten all day. I'd messaged asking if I could buy a sandwich from the restaurant and collect it when I finally check in. Lauren and guest services went above and beyond. Lauren ran to the shop and got me a sandwich, some fruit, water and crisp. I couldn't believe it. The relief knowing I could eat that night as there was no way I was wondering around at night in a City. The kindness and understanding shown here was immeasurable. Not only that, they got me a bunch of flowers, chocolates and wrote me a comforting card letting me know they were here in such desperate times. Yes, I cried like a baby. I felt so safe, seen and taken care of. I've never experienced anything like it in all my years travelling and staying in hotels. The room was brilliant and had all I needed including a fridge and microwave. There's loads of charging points too. WiFi was perfect also. The bed was very comfy and shower had good pressure too. The whole hotel was spotless and the staff were very warm and professional. It's about a 15 minute walk to the hospital, Tesco nearby, about 5 minutes to the main shopping part too. Turns out there are very aware that people from far away come to Newcastle under medical stress and it's their forte. I don't know any other hotel that offers this service and understanding. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are a lone female. Thankyou team.
Nothing.
Location
Very noisy
Everything xx
The fact I wanted to stay longer but couldn't
was a nice place to stay .
the shower was rubbish anoying to use water goes everywhere.
It’s proximity to the university and Eldon Square
Easy check in with Ben😁 very friendly and chatty gave us info on breakfast etc Room was perfect for what we needed.
Very minor little point ....the breakfast buffet wasn't filled up regularly, short on bread had to ask for more and no eggs but upon request they were quickly brought out . We had a stadium view which was great It was a little noisy with Stack being opposite so if your needing a early night I might not stay in the rooms with this view ...however it didn't bother us as we were out late and the music stopped at midnight 😁
It was clean
The breakfast was poor quality & the staff at breakfast were unhelpful, unhappy & you just got the impression they didn’t want to be there
Location was great and staff very helpful.
Room a bit warm
Facilities
Location
Everything looked nice and modern
The room was far too warm. The light switches were baffling and some were just a complete mystery that didn't switch anything on or off. The oddest design for internal room doors. Frosted glass sliding door with a gap (?!) for the toilet/bathroom and the same for a partition door between the bedroom and kitchenette. Breakfast was ok, but anaemic hash browns and no hot water for tea.
The staff was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice . Plenty to choose from.
I booked a stadium view window but was not aware of the huge nightclub across the road attached to the staduim . The music was very loud its maybe an idea for sandman signiture to put on booking.com recommendations for family staying i the hotel to not get the stadium view rooms if they dont like noise at night this music went on till midnight . But the wonderful staff did put us in a quieter room but all in all the hotel did not amaze us . Or wow us . The rooms were clean but very old windows and looking out the windows i saw towels slung outside covered in a persons pooh and the bathrooms looked like they were for a care home . Coffee was not supplied in the room i had to keep coming to reception to make a coffee to take to my room when you have a child this is inconvenient . The lifts are terrible everyone just piles in to them theres no order . I got in the lift me and my soon to go to 6th floor i think it was . And suddently over 20 people piled in to the lift my son even said mammy theres to many in the lift the door couldnt even shut so i said to them all to let us out theres to many people and called them all rude we were in the lift first . Sandman need a person at the lifts when people are booking in to safely control the amount of people going in to lifts at 1 time i had to climb the stairs with my bags and son to the 6th floor because he would not get back into the lifts . People can be so rude and self centered .
Location and stadium view.
No air conditioner and due to the Stack across the road it’s quite loud until midnight even with the windows closed, maybe noise cancelling windows need installed.

Nothing
Dirty, loud, no clean towels available for 2 night stay
Staff really friendly and helpful location is good. Easy check in
The room was slightly run down but was clean and comfortable
Amazing location as we were at football games at the weekend so made it easy to get to St James' Park for the matches. The atmosphere of the hotel was also lovely.
The shower did not drain properly nor did the glass wall do anything to stop the water spraying out when using the rainfall shower.
Amazing break, beautiful room and hotel friendly staff nothing was a bother
The hotel was nice and tidy.
There was no parking at the hotel and I had to pay to park.
The hotel was lovely
We had a hair on the bed sheet and on loo seat we told a member off staff and nothing was done about it. Also emailed hotel and they only offered a free drink
The location was very good, walking distance from train station, opposite the stadium
There was no intercom in the room, my room wasn't cleaned for 3nights even after request
Amazing location, stadium view was great, the centre is close by. The bed was very comfortable. Parking nearby is convenient and easy to get to. Staff was so helpful before and during the stay too, 5* and many thanks to them!
Windows were dirty and the temperature of the shower/tap was borderline cold
Location and breakfast
The noise from The Stack music stopped at midnight not good if trying to sleep..our room faced the stadium the road was noisy too.
The room size and layout
4 people staying but 2 cups and 3 wine glasses in room not enough tea coffee biscuits for the number of guests staying Shark club restaurant attached was poorly staff )staff not helpful and seemed more interested in talking to their friends at the bar
Right near St James park, ideally location when watching NUFC
I like the location of the hotel. Most of the staff were helpful and nice.
The room that we were given unfortunately had a lot of wear and tear. It also wasn’t very clean and was quite dusty on touchpoints. We also noticed how warm it was in the room with no air conditioning. When asked about our stay on check out, we spoke about the room and how warm it was and unfortunately the response we got was ok thank you. No sorry about that, nothing which I felt would’ve gone a long way. We have stayed here before and enjoyed it but unfortunately this time the cleanliness was just not up to scratch and the room needs some tlc.
People where friendly, clean hotel
Everything
The room was nice, clean and comfortable. It was also in a great location for St James' Park
Nothing
Location.
No air con! Breakfast wasn’t as luxurious as I expected. It was well cooked and edible but I’d have preferred more choice and some fruit that was cut up and presented well.
Comfortable enough room in terms of furniture, bed, useful kitchenette
No air-con - wasn't told about this and fan was going when I got to room. Partition in room between bed and sofa made room feel cramped. Bar and restaurant manager was very poor
Location and parking was good. Staff were nice.
Noisy from the stack. Bed was not a king as advertised. No air con so melted all night. Dirty bathroom and shower leaks under the screen.
Location was good enough with a reasonably short walk to main centre. Hotel was clean. Junior suite was more suitable as had more space. Room facilities were good.
View was non existent, whereas other side of hall had views of stadium.
