Great location for drives around Queenstown and up to Glenorchy. Very comfortable room and the breakfast was amazing! It was lovely chatting with Wendy and David and getting tips about where to go for visits and dinner etc.

Small boutique property. Excellent location. Spectacular views of lake and mountains. Very spacious bedroom which was tastefully decorated. Very comfortable bed and linens. A couple of armchairs to sit back and relax with expansive views. Lovely communal area in a lounge with views. Our host David was very hospitable and happy to chat. He served a delicious breakfast. We enjoyed the high quality and superb location with outlook, so would definitely recommend Hidden Lodge.

The scenery is so beautiful. You wake up in the morning with a scenic view of lake wakatipu, the mountains and greenery. Wendy is a very good host and will go out of her way to make the guests comfortable. She even brought us to the town central on our first day. Celes is also very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is sumptuous and prepared thoughtfully.

We loved everything. From being greeted by Wendy and Coco to our room (Tahi), view, super sized bed, lounge areas, sauna, hot tub (need to book), breakfast by Dave with vegan options, advice and being driven quickly to our steamboat booking because we lost track of time. I personally felt comfortable. This is a place for couples to unwind and enjoy the serenity.

O Hidden Lodge é um local muito exclusivo, (3 ou 4 unidades, creio), para quem quer paz e tranquilidade, sem deixar de estar conectado, pois está há 10 ou 15 minutos de carro do centrinho. Fica também no inicio da estrada para a bela Glenorchy. Café da manhã personalizado, com opção selecionada no dia anterior (inclusive o horário). A banheira no jardim é uma experiência à parte, maravilhosa. A vista para o Lago Whakatipu, com Monte Cecília e Remarkables ao fundo, é espetacular! No limpo e confortável quarto, os amenities também fizeram toda a diferença. Colchão e roupas de camas garantiam uma noite de sono profundo e revigorante.

We had such a wonderful stay! Wendy and David were incredibly kind, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Their hospitality really made our trip extra special. The accommodation was lovely, and we truly appreciated all the little touches and local recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The location is beautiful, warm and welcoming. The 180 views are fantastic. All of the staff, Wendy, Olivia and Jao are first rate and assist to ensure that your stay is exceptional. The breakfasts were also top rate.

Wendy and David are wonderful hosts who made us feel very well taken care of during our four-night stay. David prepared amazing breakfasts each morning — I especially recommend the mushroom dish. We’d also like to thank Connor, the weekend chef, who was very friendly and made great breakfasts for us as well. The room was clean, tidy, and well-equipped with everything we needed, and the views were absolutely stunning. Waking up to such beautiful scenery each day was a real highlight. We also really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, which made it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Highly recommended!

Looking a little tired

The views from our room were spectacular! My husband and I sat and stared at the lake and the mountains for hours! Wendy and David, our hosts, are such kind, knowledgeable and warm people! And Cocoa their dog was a cutie pie! David’s breakfasts were delicious! The room was big, spotless and had one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in! We hated to leave! We hope to have the opportunity to return!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Hidden Lodge. From the moment you walk in, you instantly feel relaxed. One of the things we appreciated most was that it’s not packed with rooms or lots of other guests, which creates a much more peaceful and intimate environment. You can unwind in the main living room and enjoy a different atmosphere, all while keeping that same sense of calm. Our room and bathroom were both generously sized, which really added to the overall comfort and relaxation. Having our own balcony to take in the stunning views was a real highlight. The location is slightly outside the main city, making it incredibly peaceful while still being accessible. The walk to and from the city is scenic and just adventurous enough to make it enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully organised — you select your meal from a menu the night before. There are additional facilities such as a hot tub and sauna. We didn’t get the chance to use them this time as we were only there for two nights, but we’ll definitely make the most of them when we return. Cleanliness is extremely important to both my friend and me (we’re clean freaks) and this was a 10/10. The rooms were immaculate and very well maintained. We can’t wait to come back. Wendy and David are wonderful hosts, and their staff (apologies for not remembering names!) are equally personable and friendly. A truly special place to stay.

Our stay at Hidden Lodge was perfect. The lodge itself is in a great location, with stunning views of the mountains. Our room was very comfortable and had all the amenities we could have wanted. We also used the outdoor hot tub one night which was a great experience - would recommend! Wendy and David were the best hosts, and were more than happy to have a chat and give us some insider tips about places to see and things to do. We are so grateful for their hospitality, and will definitely stay with them again if we come back!

Windy and David were simply amazing hosts and they made us feel more than welcome at "home" yet as guests. The lodge is truly a hidden gem and quite serene with a stunning view of the lake against the backdrop of the mountains. This was the perfect start to our honeymoon in NZD. We loved the breakfast prepared fresh each day by David - the granola and the honey was an absolute highlight! There was a cuddly cat Inza in the porch too - was hard to say goodbye to her. The room was apt and big enough to make us feel like we were enjoying "subtle luxury".

We had a brilliant stay and cannot recommend this place highly enough. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom excellent. The location and views are stunning, immersed in nature, incredibly peaceful, and yet perfectly placed for exploring the area. Breakfast was a real highlight: cooked to order and absolutely delicious each morning. Just as special was the warm, homely atmosphere curated by Wendy and David. Breakfast conversations were a joy, and their thoughtful advice about where to go and what to eat made our time in Queenstown even better. Above all, Wendy and David’s care and hospitality are unforgettable. We felt genuinely welcomed, well looked after, and completely relaxed, to the point where we really didn’t want to leave. We’re deeply grateful for their kindness and look forward to seeing them again.

Gorgeous views of the lake and mountains from the floor to ceiling windows from the communal space and our bedroom. Very spacious bedroom (with balcony) and bathroom with everything you could need. The complimentary drinks in the fridge and snacks are such a classy touch. The communal space is so welcoming and cozy, with board games and well stocked library with all the latest release NZ guidebooks too. And we could see hundreds of stars from our bedroom window as there is no light pollution. So pleased we choose to stay here (10 mins drive outside Queenstown) versus in Queenstown.

The suite is very comfortable and tidy with a very nice view overlooking the lake and the mountains. The place is just a few minutes drive away from the Queenstown city centre but itself is very quiet away from the crowd. Breakfast included are delicious with plenty of options to choose from. We enjoy the stay a lot.

We stayed at Hidden Lodge Queenstown for three nights as part of our honeymoon, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The lodge is owned and run by David and Wendy, who was living on-site and personally care for the property. Their son was also around during our stay. Despite this, their presence never felt intrusive — instead, it reinforced how genuinely well cared for the lodge is. The views are breathtaking. With Lake Wakatipu in front and the Remarkables mountains behind, the scenery is even better in person than in photos. The lodge is beautifully designed with an open, airy layout. Both the rooms and common areas are positioned to maximise the views, paired with décor that feels luxurious yet relaxed. The facilities are also immaculate, and every room consistently smells fresh and pleasant — a small detail that makes a big difference. What truly sets Hidden Lodge apart is the warmth of the family. The service felt personal, attentive, and genuinely caring. Wendy was exceptional — proactive, highly organised, and seemingly prepared for every question, often with neatly printed information ready. She offered excellent local insights and gladly offered to help with bookings. David, an ex-chef, prepares breakfast each morning, and it was outstanding. Even a simple omelette tasted incredible. His warmth and personality also made breakfast conversations something we looked forward to daily. We even ran into their son while shopping in Queenstown CBD, where he was working at one of the stores. He was just as friendly and helpful, reinforcing the genuine family atmosphere. As animal lovers, we also adored Coco the dog and Enza the cat, who live on-site. Both are very friendly and added a lot of joy to our stay. The hosts were also thoughtful, ensuring the pets were only in shared areas when guests were comfortable. In terms of facilities, Hidden Lodge is absolutely five-star. However, the true highlight is the warmth and authenticity of the hosts.

Incredible views

Excellent stay at The Hidden Lodge! The location is a 40 min walk or short uber ride outside of the busy town. There is also a local bus that was super convenient and affordable. We enjoyed beautiful lake views from our spacious room. The sauna and weight/yoga rooms were a bonus as was the outdoor soak tub. Our favorite things about the lodge were the gracious hosts, Wendy and David. They helped us with planning, restaurant recommendations, and activity reservations. The homemade daily breakfast were delicious and kept us field got the day. An A+ stay.

It's a tiny bit out of the way (need a car to go into town etc) however this was no issue for us whatsoever. Free and easy parking available at the lodge.

Wow we absolutely loved the hidden lodge. It was so comfortable with a spacious room, unbelievable views of the mountains and lake. It was amazing to watch the snow fall on the peaks across the river from the hot tub. The room had the biggest bed we have ever seen! Breakfast was great and hosts were lovely. Lots of snacks, tea and coffee provided in the room. The hosts kindly provided a bottle of bubbly upon our engagement.

Where do you start?! Wendy and David made us feel so welcome and from the very beginning this incredible home was just a step above anywhere else we've stayed. The scenery and views from the house are just staggering. The location slightly outside of town yet serviced by bus was just perfect - it was nice and quiet except for the birds. The breakfasts were exceptional with a great selection of made-to-order items. Wendy and David were so organised, knowledgeable and full of great ideas to help us get the most out of our stay - they even have Bee Cards to help us get the bus in & out of town. We stayed in the Wha suite which was spacious and cosy with lovely underfloor heating in the bathroom. The hot tub experience was amazing overlooking the mountains. We just couldn't have found a more perfect place to start our honeymoon. Thanks again Wendy and Dave.

The hospitality and constant guidance in regard to fun and exciting activities around Queenstown were absolutely second to none, really felt like I was back at home in my own house with my family. Wendy and David were by far the best hosts that my partner and I have ever encountered, as we do a lot of travelling we always meet a variety of people and naturally talk about our experience together and all we could say was how lovely the experience really was all round amazing place to stay.

We had a wonderful time staying at the lodge enjoying the serenity of stunning views, comfortable and spacious room and delicious chef made breakfast everyday. Thanks Wendy, David, Chloe and dog Coco for the amazing hospitality.

Thx Wendy & David We had a car but bus stop into town very close by up the driveway. Ate in town & at ‘Lokal’ Fernhill…Tasty meals - loaded pizza & roast veggie salad.

The location is just outside of town enough that it is so quiet and relaxing, yet still close enough that it’s not a mission to get in and out. The $2 bus was so quick and easy, and the walk in the morning along the lake was so stunning. David’s breakfasts every morning were restaurant quality and delicious and he was happy to cater to our dietary needs. The room itself was huge and so warm and comfortable. Shower had great pressure and was so nice and hot after being out in the cold all day.

Out of our entire 2-week trip, David and Wendy were our favorite hosts! We had the most wonderful stay at the Hidden Lodge and can't wait to return!

And David, his breakfasts were absolutely delicious - better than any cafe in town! His local tips also led us to hidden spots we’d never visited before, despite coming to Queenstown yearly. Wendy and David were wonderful hosts. Somehow my booking came through as a 'honeymoon' although it wasn't, however we have decided this is a good excuse to now have a yearly honeymoon, so many thanks to Wendy and David for being such gracious hosts when we told them. The hot tub was a highlight, the room large and comfortable. Small touches - like chocolates, and underfloor heating were greatly appreciated. The breakfast, which is cooked to order at the time that suited you was delicious. The chef and hostess were lovely and friendly and full of suggestions for a day out. We did a winery tour and visited Arrowtown. Of course our stay was too short, but we will be back. The lodge is easily accessible by taking the bus from town or the airport and then getting the number 1 bus from town to the last stop. We found this easy and appreciated being somewhere quieter away from the bustle.
