Breakfast was very good and generally the service was very good with happy and helpful staff. We found the drinks to be a little expensive.
Beautiful hotel and in an excellent location
Everything was excellent if I had to find any fault, the tv in room had only a few bbc channels and children programmes, very limited
3rd stay here beautiful old hotel Rooms gorgeous bar/beer garden lovely walking distance to the centre 2mins and 10mins drive to Clarksons farmers dog pub which is a must visit when in Burford

Our room was spacious and had everything we needed.
The cost was high for a three star hotel.
very special (old) property, room was very nice
Es acogedor y precioso
Location. Quaint.
Expensive for what it was. Low pressure shower. Noisy street as room right on road side. No parking on site.
LOVELY BREAKFAST AND EVENING MENU.
TINY BEDROOM FOR THE MONEY SPENT.
Location excellent facilities very good and food very good
Nothing
Absolutely gorgeous and charming, right in the centre of town. Loved the food and the band performing on a Saturday afternoon. Can’t wait to visit again
What a stunning pub. We loved the history, 15th century, it was gorgeous inside. Such a nice atmosphere. Our room was perfect, so quirky, breakfast was delicious and the staff simply outstanding, such a lovely team. We are going to be rebooking later today for December as we just lived it that much.
Leaving 😭
Le charme de l’ancien, la chambre très spacieuse et la literie extrêmement confortable. Le petit déjeuner parfait!

This was a good base camp for our 5 nights in the Cotswolds, It was a close enough drive to the other highlights. There is quite a bit of food available in Burford, so we had plenty of options in the evenings as well as some nice shopping. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts excellent. The building and our room were quaint - but that did mean that the floor was not level which was interesting at night. Parking was always fun to find, but we lucked out each day.
There were some elements of the property that could use some minor repairs - for example carpet that had come loose on the stairway which was musty.
great check in, very helpful staff. Brilliant location. Breakfast was lovely. Enjoyed reading in the garden ease of parking
terrible pillows, I couldn't sleep. £20 for a glass of wine is dreadful - tax added afterwards very hot barking dog in the next room
No Airconditioning
The room was incredible. Luxurious and clean. Though the fans were a bit used and rickatty.
Food. Didn’t live up to reputation. Limited menu and a steak that was all gristle. Even the chef said it was a bad cut - we wondered why any chef in his right mind would have sent it out in the first place. Breakfast buffet was ok but no ‘variety of pastries’ only croissants. The mixed fruit tasted a little off and made the yogurt split so we couldn’t finish it. For the quality I think the food was overpriced.
Set down a quiet road in Burford The Lamb Inn was just perfect. With a beautiful private walled garden, a cosy log fired lounge and a traditional English bar area what more could you need.
Having to leave it.
Stylish old world charm. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast.
Pillows very soft, would be good to have choice of firm or soft. TV remote batteries needed changing. Expensive for one night.
My wife and I stayed for one night in the Alium room on a weekend break option. I believe this is the largest room option at the hotel. The good: The room itself was very spacious with a large adjoining bathroom, with a central bathroom and separate shower. The building is very old and so you take this into account, with the creaking floor boards, etc that adds to the charm. The room very much looked like the website photographs so that is all positive. A couple bottles of water, tea and coffee making facility was provided with nespreso machine. There was no in room fridge though. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean and tidy. The room looks out to the garden area and adjacent road, on the opposite side. It was very quiet, being on the second floor at the end of the hotel. The staff come in for special mention and all that we met were helpful, attentive and very pleasant. The garden area was nice, with comfortable furniture and cushions and it was busy but still seating available. Location wise it is a short walk from the high street but again, quiet. I was also concerned about car parking, but you can use the adjacent sister hotel that is a 2 minute walk away, that has ample parking. We ate in The Lamb restaurant in the evening and enjoyed it. We shared a starter of cod scampi and chicken liver parfait, which was very nice. For main we both had the lemon sole. This was well cooked but a bit salty for our pallet. The service was again very good. Breakfast wise there was the usual cooked dish options and the eggs Benedict we had was very nice and an option of cereal, yogurt, granola etc. Again all good. Room for improvement: We had booked a weekend deal but the communications of what was actually included was not great. In the booking confirmation it advised that we had a £35 per person addition towards food or drink in the hotel. We had arrived early as we were going for a long walk of the local area, and on return at about check in time at 3pm we were advised our booking included tea/ scones/ cream. We did not know about this. Also, when we checked out we were advised we should have been provided with a glass of champagne each. That was then taken off the bill but would have preferred to have had it during our stay. Also in the room was left a Molten Brown diffuser with our welcome letter. It was completely unclear if this was a gift or if we needed to buy it. Upon checking at reception, they confirmed though that it was included in our room rate. I would suggest that during booking that it is made clear what is included or not as we could have come away with less than what we supposedly paid for. Other minor comments include maintenance in the room. A light bulb was not working in the bedroom and when I tried to use the TV in the bathroom to put some radio on, no channels would tune. I know this is perhaps a minor issue but at £500 per night, small details like this make a difference. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Incredible, charming, wonderful stay. It has everything you are looking for in the Cotswolds. The food is excellent and all the service exceeded expectations
L’emplacement la décoration le petit déjeuner
Des marches même dans la chambre pour atteindre la salle de bains et un escalier un peu dangereux pour atteindre la chambre (mais je précise que j’ai des problèmes pour me déplacer)
Top notch amazing food mitch star from me .beuty of a proper old historical building . Great garden 👍 real comfy chairs . Staff on it friendly and attentive. I've been fortunate enough to eat in some great places 😋 and the lamb is right up there 😋 full marks to the chef and his team . Many tnx j .
Great breakfast, excellent choice
The bin had not been emptied in our room prior to arrival, everything else was great
Beautiful setting and beautiful inn. Very cosy snd would return
Sink plug hole was dirty
We often stay here when we go to The UK each year. It is wonderful. Food and servoce are excellent. Ambience is wonderful. In the summer its so nice to sit in the garden.
Everything that we wanted. Perfect
Everything was perfect
Breakfast, dinner and staff all excellent. Really nice place with beautiful garden area out back. Location brilliant too. Burford is such a beautiful town. Would stay again.
Room and bed was very small. Even if there was just 2 of us it would have been small but we also had small baby so just made it feel even smaller.
Absolutely beautiful place , lovely welcoming staff only downside was coming home and leaving the hotel, thankyou for the stay will definitely be back
We had a very comfortable stay at The Lamb Inn. The staff were friendly and attentive l. The room was spotlessly clean and fresh and we really appreciated the fan. Very comfortable bed. I usually struggle to find a nice pillow but their's were the best feather pillows I've had in a hotel in a long time. The garden is beautiful and we sat up late
Nothing
Room was excellent in size, cleanliness and amenities provided. Bathroom was as per expectation well sized and clean, all in proper working order. Hotel in general was very nice and cozy, staff was extremely nice and friendly and attentive to my requirement. Breakfast was excellent. Thank you.. see you soon
Almost everything was excellent ... no complaint from my and family side...
Very characterful. Fabulous staff.

Location was superb..inn was nicely laid out.
Parking situation. Which to be fair I knew about. Noticed that some areas like walls need a lick of paint and our lamp shade had a crack in it. Lamp shade in restaurant looked like it needed a clean . As did other areas around the hotel Breakfast was awful due to the chef being off sick. Staff was told and they took the cost of the breakfast off our bill
Le jardin privé pour notre dogue allemand. Merci pour lui.. La terrasse très agréable.
We went here just after Christmas and the town is so beautiful with sparkling lights and diverse shops. We went to the Lamb for lunch and it was stunning inside with antiques, roaring fire, flag stoned floor and atmospheric. Mulled wines were ordered and lunch was exquisite but very tiny portions. The taste was so delicious I could have had three plates. I have to confess we did seek out cakes at a lovely tea shop later as we were all still famished. Maybe just greedy.
If you’re looking for a true Cotswolds inn look no further. The lamb is positioned just off the main street in Burford, so it’s lovely a quiet. It offers a nice wall english country garden of which the rooms look onto.
Nothing, it was perfect.
It’s great! We, like the rest of the UK did not anticipate that the weather would be so warm and I admit that it was quite brutal being without AC, but these staff was so kind and helpful and really accommodated us by moving our room to try to assist to get us a bit more air. Alex, the I guess he’s an assistant manager. I’m not quite sure but wouldn’t outstanding in person he is in all respects! I honestly think he is the best in people that I’ve ever dealt with in my many years of travel! He really appreciated all the staffs assistance. It is within walking distance of everything! Also, the restaurant was very good!
No A/C.
We have stayed at The Lamb several times over a number of years and the food and service has always been great. However, this time we stayed in The Shepherd room for 2 nights and it’s in need of refurbishment- stained carpet, the window seat is worn in places and the bathroom is in need of painting. I mentioned it on check out and received a ‘thank you’ for mentioning. Sadly, the prices they charge no longer match the quality provided.
Such a historic building with lots of character. Our room The Allium was beautifully decorated. Amazing bathroom.
Nothing
Quiet and close to everything
A small fridge in the room would be so helpful
Location is beautiful old fashioned style bathroom and and bedroom. The Rosie room has its own private garden which was lovely
The bed was too hard for my liking & the food menu is quite limited.
Lovely garden. Nice stone floor. In the centre of Burford.
Dirty headboard
Hugely charming old inn. Located in a super central location, just off Burford high street. Enjoying a one night stay, with our dog, in 'Windrush' we found the room to be most pleasing; although not super large, it was spacious enough and tastefully decorated, in a natural palette. With quality room amenities, Comfy, spacious bed, with crisp bed linen. Staying during the recent heat wave, also grateful to have been provided with a fan. Team were professional and most accommodating, making us feel most welcome. Parking, next door at their sister inn, The Bay Tree was also super handy.
The only downside of our stay was from what looked to be a relatively promising menu, the disappointingly underwhelming execution of the dishes.
Beautiful food here Beautiful decor lovely staff ..the ribs were the best I've ever had worth every penny huge plate I took them home finished them off seafood risotto also Beautiful 😍 will be back 😋
Character. Garden. Food. Friendliness of staff. Location
Steep stairs. Tiny bar area. Staff were quite ‘rushed’.
Dishes at dinner were average. Breakfast was very good
Everything else was fine
The location on our route.
Parking is hard to find a place to unload.
The location was perfect, just a 3 min walk to Burfords main Street. The staff were very friendly and the hotel room was nice and clean apart from the headboard. The restaurant was very nicely set up. The Inn has a lot of character/history. Had no issues parking!
Unfortunately the headboard in our room was stained due to others leaning against it which was a bit off putting when your spending £310 a night but the bedding itself was clean and inviting. I'm sure it wouldn't take long to sort. If the bar itself was more inviting we would have stopped in there more when we came back from a meal out.. The Inn is lovely it just needs a bit of love being put into it..
Location in Burford is great. Restaurant did decent food. Thought the service was polite and efficient. Slightly off the main road so wasn't too noisy at night. Can't really add anything people haven't already said in previous reviews.
Nothing
Have always loved it
-
The hotel is full of character. The building is an original old building with many different levels. It is oozing charm and tastefully decorated.
The visual charms with many different levels and sloping floors made it a bit hazardous for those of us in our late 70s
Lovely location, beautiful garden and very friendly staff
The cleanliness of the room was not to expectations, it needed a deep clean
Great stuff and beautiful hotel/location
Bed aren’t very comfortable
Very good choice of breakfast , and the walled garden was beautiful
The place is great, the hotel was excellent and the staff were great.
Bar prices! Too expensive but that's hotels for you! Noisey Americans on a tour! Very loud, even at breakfast!
Todo!! La Deco, la onda… el desayuno… todooo
very busy in BURFORD PARKING WAS NOT EASY.
Lovely old building
Parking very difficult
Location, age, food
I popped into The Lamb Inn at Burford, not so much for a meal as for a light wrestling match with my own expectations, and I’m delighted to report I lost magnificently. I began with a pea and courgette soup so green it looked like it had ambitions to join the snooker circuit. It was smooth, velvety, and comforting, like being gently hugged by a well meaning aunt who smells faintly of allotments. Each spoonful whispered, “steady on,” in a way that suggested it knew more about life than I ever will. Then came the pork chop. Now, I’ve met pork chops in my time, some dry enough to reupholster a bus seat, but this one! Oh, this one was succulent beyond reason. It practically leaned over and introduced itself before I’d even picked up the knife. Juicy, tender, and full of flavour, it was the sort of chop that makes you question every other chop you’ve ever known. I half expected it to wink at me and say, “You’ve done well here, lad.” I was seated in a sofa so plump it could’ve applied for its own postcode. You didn’t sit on it so much as disappear into it, like being gently swallowed by a very polite marshmallow. Meanwhile, in the courtyard garden, other diners in Panama hats ate al dente and spoke like characters from Futtocks End. The whole setting was beautiful, sunlight dancing about, glasses clinking, and a general air of quiet smugness from people who clearly knew they’d chosen well. As for me, I sat there, basking in the glory of soup and chop, wondering if I might reasonably request a small nap between courses… or possibly move in permanently. All in all, a thoroughly delightful experience. If food could tell jokes, this meal would’ve had me in stitches, but as it stands, it simply had me reaching for seconds, which is praise enough.
Lovely bar area, the part we were in was small with nice leather chairs and an open fire. The pub is just off the Main Street and this was on our list of pubs to try in Burford. All very nice until you find out a pint of lager and a large Chardonnay will set you back £24.45. Expensive area it may be but so is central London and I don’t pay those prices there. I’m happy to pay a reasonable price according to the location but I didn’t pay anywhere near that in the other places around Burford so I’m afraid it was one drink and no return visit from us.
Excellent food and attentive staff.
The pillows, just prefer my owm.
We had made a booking. Arrived, there was next to no one else in the pub, given menus but the bar staff took forever to come and even take a drinks order, zero vibe.
Traditional and good location
Nothing
The staff were very helpful and accomodating, especially compared to the abismal performance of booking.com.
Booking.com
The Inn is a delightful historical Inn in the picturesque village of Burford. The room and bed were very comfortable. I had an issue with the shower- luke warm water on my first day. When I asked them to look at it, I was assured it was resolved but the next morning the water came of out the shower head cold. There was an issue with the shower mixer which was not resolved. The food in the bar and the english breakfast in the dining room was very good. I took advantage of the quiet garden to have a drink in the afternoon. The service in the bar was friendly but the staff was not attentive. Although I had some issues with my stay, overall I would recommend this Inn for those visiting the area.
Really well-located inn at the heart of Burford. Great selection of food and drinks, and very comfortable rooms. Have stayed a few times and will stay again!
Nothing that I can think of, other than the check-in was a bit slow
Gorgeous breakfast and really nice location.
Nothing
Lovely building , grounds and location
Room was a little small, the bathroom was tiny and the shower was very small!
Location was very good
Most rooms are very small, except for one. Our first room had an unpleasant smell, but the staff were helpful and moved us to a much better room—unfortunately, it was only available for one night. The next room we were given had ladybugs throughout and a broken window. Thankfully, the staff eventually relocated us to a nearby hotel, which was very nice.
Old world charm and quite
Reception desk was erratically supported and slow also, the allocation of my room did NOT reflect the selection description on booking.com for looking over the garden - which would have place my room near to my travelling companions suite. The suite we choose was perfect however
Old inn stayed many years ago and wanted to revisit Had the suite v nice, spacious comfy bed and linens
Boiler probs second night so quite chilly!
Position in village History of place Nice fires - cosy Nice welcome from staff
Shower wasn’t great and smelt a bit damp and toilet ran all night
all very nice , the sunday roast beef was a bit tough , but everything else FAB!
Great location when staying in Burford. We really enjoyed the breakfast, and while the property does not have a parking area on-site, they partner with a nearby hotel to accommodate your car if needed.
As expected, the buildings in the area are old. As a result, the floor in our room was quite sloped. Didn’t bother us, but might be an issue for others.
Great atmosphere, location and staff.
Standard double on ground floor wasn’t
Location and staff.
Poor pressure in shower
I’m not a firm believer of a service charge added to my bill , and I think the vast majority of reviewers will feel the same, considering it’s been a debated topic in the press over the last twelve months. The Lamb Inn must take serious note, at the fact that their 10% discretionary service charge awareness is , not only missing from their menu, it’s not either mentioned by the waiting staff, or displayed on a visible sign within the establishment. According to consumer protection regulations this must be made clear to all patrons. Digressing from this avoidable situation, the fayre was ok, but nothing special. I feel a rating of three is more than generous.
It is a lovely and characterful hotel, rooms clean and very comfortable. Great location.
Whilst some of the staff were lovely there was one lady who my friends and I took exception too! We were sitting in the cosy lounge area after having had supper and the fire was going out (it was only circa 9pm). One of my friends went to put a log on the fire and was 'reprimanded' by this lady!! She then went on to say that logs can't be added after 9pm as the fires have to go out before the staff can leave!!! Mmmmm....not impressed!! Guests comforts should come first!!
It was off the main drag of burford which was nice The staff were extremely friendly and kind and quite attentive. I wanted a quiet, quaint place to stay for a weekend out of the city . The room was dead quiet at night which is great .
It’s a super old property so some things will seem odd but that’s part of the charm
Rooms weren’t cleaned properly and was some damp
The open fire places, the quaint and comfortable feel
Nothing
Breakfast great. Location good. Lumpy bed! Dinner disappointing but hats off to receptionist who gave us a goodwill gesture discount.
Crumpled dressing gowns, lumpy bed, constant drip from cistern! Undercooked frites 🙈
Lovely traditional place
Car parking not immediately obvious. V small issue
Highly recommend. A beautiful pub with friendly staff. On a rainy Sunday the log fires were welcoming and Sunday lunch very good.
Stayed for 3 nights with elderly parents . When I contacted the hotel the lovely Zoe on reception happily confirmed a ground floor room with walking shower for them . All the staff including Jake and Jack could not have been more helpful . Bedrooms are comfortable and nicely designed . The log fires are lit all day in the lounge and bar areas and it’s super cozy . Food is excellent and nothing is too much trouble if you want to dine in the bar area or restaurant . A very short walk on to the Main Street in Burford .
Cosy and traditional inn. I love the vibe of the fireplaces in all the public rooms and the small pub area. The dining room is large and beautiful looking out on the courtyard. It’s nicely decorated. My room was comfortable although small but for one or two people it was plenty of room and well equipped. The staff really made my stay special. They were all friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Daily they put a note on your door with suggestions on fun things to do in the area and highlighting their sister properties to visit.
Nothing!
Staff facilities and location
Incredible old inn. Roaring fires and lovely rooms
Shower not very powerful
The location we stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon 1990.we had a brilliant stay.
This time we had a room that was knot worth the moneyyou could not turn around in a a very very small bathroom shower. But after the first night after no sleep I spoke to reception and she sorted it out.to a room so completely different to the other I carnt remember how much I paid £375 ISH it was very disappointing for a treat for my husband and
Beautiful character property , all amenities were excellent. The room was very well prepared and presented.
Nothing to dislike
Visited The Lamb for lunch over the Xmas/NY period. Very pretty establishment. Very much your quintessential Cotswold pub. It was oddly quiet when we visited for lunch so we were surprised that we had to ask for menus, ask if we could have a pre-lunch drink and to ask for knives and forks and S&P (both after food had already been served). Food was served haphazardly so we ate at different times and some of us were missing items from our order. Portion sizes were small, prices high and quality mediocre. The burger at £22 was as basic a burger as you will ever find in a premium Cotswold eatery - definitely won’t be making it onto your Instagram. When the bill came we were charged for items we hadn’t asked for or received. All in all a bit disappointing considering the promise of the pub’s standing and its look and feel. Perhaps it was an off day.
