Smallest motel room I’ve ever been in. Only water was in the small hand basin in the shower room which was also the only place (yuk) to wash any dishes etc. Cutlery was absolutely minimal and not even a small chopping board. Definitely won’t return as although slightly cheaper than the many other options locally, just generally not worth the saving.

Reviewed May 15, 2026The owner of the Motel was super friendly, even got to meet her cat :) She asked if I wanted milk for coffee. We borrowed a dvd player to watch one of the movies they had in their dvd library, which all looked decent. Even though these days, most people watch streaming platforms, it's still good to have that extra. We had access to Netflix there too.
If I was going to make one small complaint, it would be they didn't seem to have cooking oil. We only stayed the one night so maybe that's why. I just figured with cooking facilities being there, it would be included. We didn't end up cooking up anything anyway.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Clean, tidy, location is excellent and the Motel staff friendly and welcoming. Bedding and linen comfortable and heat pump kept me warm is the temps were very cold. The room had everything I needed, Coffee area, jug and microwave, plates and cutlery, toiletries. I was extremely happy and comfortable staying here, will book again on my next visit :)

The sofa was very uncomfortable as it sagged a lot. Didn’t do our backs any good at all.

It’s not five star, but it’s really clean and tidy and got a great vibe with a good ambience There is a lovely cat called Hunter who meets and greets everyone and is very very friendly . Very nice local eateries and walking distance .

À noter qu’il est à proximité (5 minutes à pied) de la rivière tongariro d’où plusieurs départ de balades/trail sont possible. N’hésitez pas si le temps s’y prête à aller vous balader. La vue est magnifique

Bathroom was full of mould. Shower either had super hot water or cold.

Bathsoap stunk foul. Had to get/use my own. Town was dead apart fron beibg close ish to Tongariro but my fault. Should have stayed 1 night and gone back to Taupo after the walk.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Room was new. The heat pump was turned on and the room was warm when we arrived. In the middle of winter this was much appreciated. I like that this motel is very close to the town centre and to State Highway 1 but very quiet.
Only water is in bathroom. Hot water on very short timing so had not finished rinsing when it cut out. As outside temperature was -2C at the time, this was a shock!

Reviewed Jan 8, 2026Everything friendly staff good parking , easy to get to, not too big, comfy cute little rooms, um I would recommend to anyone and would be happy to stay there again anytime, and it’s 5 mins away from the hot pools.
