Friendly welcome, comfortable room. Great breakfast.
A little expensive, but it was GNR weekend
Great position good for the sea and the town. Lovely owner who could not have been more helpful. Super clean and the best breakfast ever. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone.
A friendly welcome from Michael. He couldn't do enough to help make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Micheal was very welcoming and showed us to our room. We stayed in room 10 and we couldn't fault a thing. Everything was clean and the bed was so comfortable. We both had a great night's sleep. The shower was hot and the yowrls were fluffy. There was a great spread at breakfast. Pastries, fruit and dried fruit and yoghurts. I didn't have the cooked option but my husband did and he throughly enjoyed it. Thank you for the lovely stay. We will be back.
Nothing
Friendly owner who took the trouble to chat and suggest activities. Very clean and comfortable.
Room outlook a little disappointing but then I guess some rooms have to face the fire escape and the back of the street behind. Overall not a big deal but it looked like the 'signature' rooms would have a more pleasant outlook.
breakfast and spacious room.
a small shelf or hooks in shower room would be useful
Excellent location. Facilities and hosts were first class. Amazing breakfast
Nothing
Room was lovely, large, comfy..good shower.hotel situated close to town and the front....friendly manager..good breakfast...
Nothing bad to report...
Location great for the seafront & town centre- warm, friendly welcome - very clean, new feel to room, nice bedding & towels, chocolates & fizz a nice touch - good choice for breakfast & hot, served with a smile -
Signature room a bit pricey for a 5’ bed & location of Whitley Bay. Room felt small & noise readily heard from adjoining room & above, plus the outside traffic despite double glazing- we turned our tv down & lowered our voices conscious of noise levels - however, it didn’t spoil our one night stay.
Quality of the whole experience
Third floor room lovely but stairs challenging
This hotel is amazing from the staff to the facilities, the rooms are excellent and the breakfast is fantastic, room two was spacious and very comfortable with an amazing bathroom and view of the park.
Absolutely nothing, this is the best hotel we have stayed in for years, will definitely be back.
Food was excellent. Mike attentive & sociable. Public areas welcoming & comfortable Great location
Nothing!
Nice comfortable bed
Lack of onsite free parking. Not as decribed in write up. Just 2 parking spaces . No bar
Servicen var toppen, sköna sängar, utmärkt frukost och hotellet låg perfekt till. Kan verkligen rekommendera York House.
All OK
Nothing
Mike was brilliant and super helpful, the room was super comfortable, cutlery was there. For a short stay, perfect. All was genuinely decent.
There could have been something in the fridge, like a can of coke or a bottle of beer. But that’s just a suggestion. The door was a bit hard to open due to a slight misalignment against the carpeted floor.
Excellent breakfast choices and presentation
Everything .. central, large room excellent breakfast, very clean and some very nice touches ..
Nothing
Excelent
Staff were Very accommodating and helpful especially Michael. Excellent choice at breakfast with selection of food and coffee. Complimentary bottle of Prosecco and chocolates waiting in room lovely touch ☺️
Parking was limited
Very clean, lovely friendly host and breakfast was amazing
Great location for us, very clean, staff extremely professional and accommodating
Nothing
Excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, good quality bedding, shower was easy to use and good pressure, provided lots of towels, perfect location for our needs, on the sea front, bar and communal areas lovely. Clean and well maintained. Decor tastefully done. Lovely owners/staff.
Limited parking spaces on sight but some parking across the road nearby.
What a great hotel! The location was perfect for us as we were visiting The Playhouse which was only a 5 minute walk away. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, as was our room which was very spacious, modern and comfortable - we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Going by previous reviews, we were both looking forward to our breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. We had a deliciously cooked full English breakfast (perfect poached eggs!) with lots of toast, tea and coffee. In addition to this there was a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, jams, yoghurts, cheese and ham, fruit juices, and Bucks Fizz which was a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would make the York House hotel our first choice next time we visit. Thank you, Michael for your excellent hospitality!
Nothing we didn’t like.
Everything, from check in to check out. The host could not do enough, very welcoming Rooms beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.
I liked everything
Great location, welcoming host Michael, first class accommodation
Nothing
Location is good and Michael the owner is very polite and helpful
Drab decor. Shower didn’t drain. No air con although michael did offer a fan but it was a cheap and very buzzy one .
York house hotel is within walking distance of pubs, bars, restaurants and sea front with lovely beach. Parking right outside. The host was very friendly and breakfast lovely.
Nothing to not like
Every part of the stay was fantastic from the communication to before we arrived, the warm welcome received on arrival to the standard of the overall stay.
Brilliant location, hotel spotless, breakfast delicious and the host couldn't do enough for you
Tetley tea bags - but I'm a self confessed tea snob! 🤣
The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and had everything you needed.
Everything, especially the owner, Michael, he was amazing. Plus the breakfast is fantastic

Location
Was not a boutique hotel was a guest house
Very friendly and helpful owner. Very professional and good value.
Nothing!
Absolutely beautiful hotel, very well maintained, lovely and fresh and clean nice bright room. Breakfast cooked to perfection. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Free parking right outside. Plenty shops, bars, restaurants and beach all in walking distance
Can not fault anything
Location , cleanliness, the owner was wonderful , the breakfasts were sooo good , nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I have stayed all over the uk in the last few years and this was the best hotel we have stayed in by far. Highly highly recommended
Nothing at all , perfect
The hotel is outstanding in every way and you can see the owners attention to detailbin every part of the property. The owner Michael is so welcoming and is extremely professional and attentive to the guests. The location a great with a car park opposite. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on Tyneside and particularly Whitley Bay.
We LIKED everything about the Hotel and our stay.
Everything was great. Really enjoyed my stay
Yet another excellent stay, thanks for the room upgrade much apreciated. Host, food, room all top class thx Micheal.
Leaving.
Great breakfast, friendly staff, rooms very clean and comfy.
Location Great host, comfortable Spacious room Great breakfast
Nothing
Everything, I stay away with work often and this is a lovely property with an equally great owner who can't do enough for you. If there is a better breakfast in the UK I've yet to have it superb.
Leaving.
Really lovely host and great location just a few minutes walk from the beach. Nice comfortable bed and quiet hotel, ideal! I really liked the only access to the hotel entrance is via your key card, felt very safe.

As always Michael was excellent and always makes me feel welcome, the room was super and breakfast amazing. Thank you
Beautiful luxurious quiet room, delicious breakfast, and Michael was an absolute gentlemen who went out of his way to ensure I had a good stay. Best hotel experience I’ve had in a long time.
Really hospitable hosts. Exceptionally clean Lovely breakfast
Absolutely superb, what a stunning hotel. The rooms are stunning, exceptionally clean and very quiet hotel. The breakfast room just stunning, all fresh fruit displayed so nicely. I had a bowl of strawberries with fresh orange juice, followed by Avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, so many choices on the breakfast menu. This stunning hotel is now my go to place 😁
The owner Michael gave me a very warm welcome, and told me everything I'd need to know for my stay, including where to find home made biscuits! The room, whilst on the smaller side, had everything a traveller could need including a small kitchen counter with a microwave and crockery, which would come in handy if a guest fancied a meal in their room. It was freezing cold outside, but the room was toasty and warm upon my arrival which was a nice welcome. The hotel interior was decorated to a very high standard and impeccably clean throughout. The choice of breakfast food and drink was staggeringly extensive, with no expense spared, and the hot food was cooked to perfection. It's clear that Michael and Melissa truly care for their guests' comfort and enjoyment. I'll stay here again next time I'm in the area.
Really lovely rooms, clean, great location, exactly what I needed. Breakfasts were great, especially the first day. Eggs kind of went downhill day on day but altogether a really good breakfast.
Felt slightly uncomfortable around the owner, acted like I had wronged him in some way. Didn’t make me feel very welcome.
Breakfast, location
A fantastic hotel. A super welcome and you can tell how much passion the owner has for the hotel and the enormous effort and hard work they’ve put in over the years. Spotlessly clean, lovely decor, really comfy bed and parking right outside, on site. Lovely breakfast menu too!
There is nothing not to like!
The room was not big but the space was well thought out. it was on 2 levels with a kitchenette area which we did not use use but a good idea for some. The shower room was spotless and modern. Both the buffet and cooked breakfast options offered a good choice. TThe owner was welcoming and friendly giving excellent service and advising where to go and suggesting where to eat etc.
Great rooms, great breakfast.
Too many sets of steps, no lift. No grab handles in shower and had to ask for an anti-dlip mat
As above9
Really well presented rooms. Clean and comfortable. Good quality and well cooked breakfast
Room a little warm
About as good as it gets. Flawlessly clean and superbly maintained
Nothing.
Breakfast
The room offered initially was closest possible to reception and above dining and later realised, kitchen. The alternative room which we accepted was better located but the heated towel rail was not working so we couldn't have a shower it being too cold this time of the year. There are about 14 rooms in the hotel it is strange there was not another alternative; the bed was comfortable though. The decor in the hotel is dull and old-fashioned. It was disappointing for the price paid.
inviting lovely decor and immaculate
Breakfast was excellent. Friendly welcoming staff. Location.
Nil.
Lovely breakfast and well laid out. Nice chap owns and runs it so would gladly return and recommend
Ensuite had been squeezed into the room but it was absolutely functional and the bedroom was comfortable
All Good No complaints
the size of the room and the cleanliness and the breakfast
It was all good
Room comfortable. The owner was helpful with a problem I had with my car.
My room was not serviced on the day between my 2 nights stay. I did not like the fact the hotel was not open when I arrived half an earlier than the quoted 4 pm earliest check in time
Our room at York House Hotel was very spacious and clean and was very well equipped with everything we required for our stay. We managed to park our car, at no charge, at the front door of the property. The breakfast was very good with a large selection of hot and cold food for all tastes.
Nothing.
Beautifully furnished & well appointed. Great location. Comfortable bed & large bedroom. Owner was friendly & informative
Nothing
Location
Parking , there wasn’t two spaces out front as the owner’s wife occupied one for the duration of our stay so I had to park in the road
The breakfasts were excellent, as the reviews promised. Location was very good too, walking distance to cafés, bars restaurants and the beach. We also thought the hotel was very well decorated. The owners were very helpful particularly as parking was at a premium at the hotel.
We didn't know we would be on the third floor and there was no lift, we thought this could have been in the hotel details, also I checked in the room details and I couldn't find a reference to a hairdryer, even though there was one, so I brought one unnecessarily. The bathroom had nowhere to put a bag, so a small shelf would be useful, same in the shower. We thought there was an unmanned bar, but it was actually a vending machine. We both felt the mattresses could have done with a topper. These are obviously minor issues, we thought there would be more on offer as York House classes itself as a 'hotel' but we thought it more of a 'boutique B and B'.
Very pleasant gentleman that let us in and served breakfast. Breakfast was warm and tasty. Well situated to both beach and town.
Hotel is never left open. We couldn’t get in when we arrived. It’s more like a guest house. There was no lift and it was 2 flights of Stairs to our room and I have health issues. Room and bathroom were both much too small. Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable.
Everything was fabulous!
My only negative was that there was no shelf in the actual shower and for my husband the toilet was too low but he is 6ft 4 and not much can be done about that.
Breakfast was excellent, nothing too much trouble. Bed comfortable.
No hooks or shelf in bathroom.
Very convenient, extremely well run hotel. Friendly and great service, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.
Breakfast
The shower and washing facilities were so cramped as to make it impossible to wash your face due to mirror layout. The shower was so tight for space
Great service, lovely room and staff. Room was a little warm, however I’ll pack a fan next time!
Got there a little earlier and was welcomed Changed room type no problem Breakfast was excellent The owners were very hospitable
Bed a little high to climb into
No complaints it was a perfect room and couple of mins walk from the shops, resteraunts and bars cant recommend this hotel enoughwe stayed in room 10 a signature room Super comfy bed and a double shower with gallons of hot water
The location was perfect just 10 minute walk from the metro station. The decor was amazing decorated to a very high spec. The hosts were welcoming. Michael helped with suitcase. The breakfast and shower were amazing! Plenty of choice at breakfast. Very quick service also.
Cannot criticize much at all. Only problem we're stairs and steps down to the bathroom as I a have knee problem but that us personal to me Only other thing is a choice of tea bags would of been good. My partner and I are not a fan of Tetley tea. We could of brought our own Yorkshire Tea I guess.
Owner of the property did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable
Staff friendly and helpful Room had fridge and sink Quiet and excellent location
Ensuite extremely small but functional
Excellent breakfast good location informative host
More comfortable bed
The overall experience was fantastic from the minute we arrived until our departure. Excellent family run Hotel.
Only complaint was no fridge in room. No big issue.
Family run hotel, superb breakfast. We felt genuinely welcomed and enjoyed our brief stay with such lovely people. Great location and a short walk to the seafront and local restaurants. The room was very comfortable.and spotlessly clean.
No negatives.
Nice big room with plenty of space and good shower. The breakfast was excellent and an attentive host.
Parking is limited.
Everything was great here, the room was good, the location is good, the breakfast was great and Michael & Marissa the owners are really nice, inviting and helpful.
Lovely place to stay, very modern clean rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely stay again.
