Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The facilities staff and value for money was fantastic. I have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends.
Clean and tidy, food was excellent and the staff very friendly and polite.

Everything from the staff, the food, the location & the awesome pub/restaurant. Special thank you to Darren, Sara, Marilyn and the owner Stuart. The rest of the team were excellent so I can't recommend the venue enough. Easy access to Porthmadog, Snowdonia & coast. The Golden Fleece pub has a great selection of drinks and the food is truly delicious.
I didn't like having to buy all the staff a drink as they were brilliant 😆
Convienent location.
The room was not integral to the main building. I stayed in a standard double room which was on the ground floor. Being on street level this lacked privacy due to the window directly facing the market square which necessitated the blinds remaining semi closed for the duration of my visit. The room itself was extremely small with barely enough room to accommodate a small suitcase. The shower was very basic & had low water pressure even during non peak usage times.
Lovely room and facilities
Nothing
Friendly staff. Good food

Schönes, kleines Zimmer.
Bett ist zu klein. Preis ist zu hoch für das kleine Zimmer ohne Frühstück.
Room was okay, restaurant was good
Room was a bit tired
We were cycling the lon las cymru route and our stop was on route fabulous facilities and great bike storage
The friendly staff great room clean and welcoming with great facilities just perfect
The room was lovely, the location was great and the staff were amazing. The food was great too.
Nothing
Lovely room, friendly staff, great service and great food.
Room 7, the pub, restaurant and garden are fabulous. Ceri, the housekeeper did a fabulous job. Whirlpool bath!
Everything was excellent
The entry way was absolutely beautiful and the room was perfect for what we needed! A shop right across the road, restaurants as well and a local chippy! Loads of parking, didn’t struggle for a space and so close to many other places
We received a friendly and helpful welcome from Kieran, who took the time to show us to our rooms and explain the hotel’s guest facilities. His welcome was repeated by the remainder of the staff and enticed us to order dinner and breakfast the next day. Excellent.

The beds were so comfy and the character of the accommodation was excellent
Great food and service
Cost a bit high
Tramadog is a beautiful little borough and very convenient for our golf travel plans. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was very good and excellent dining was available next door. We were always able to park close to our rooms. It felt very safe and everything was clean.
The rooms were very tiny; understandable considering the building's demands, and the beds were a less than perfectly comfortable. My room was on the ground floor which meant my blinds were kept drawn 100% of the time.
Excellent stay — the two‑bedroom apartment was very spacious, and roadside parking right in front of the property made things very convenient. It’s a great place to stay if you’re planning to explore Northern Wales, and the kitchen was well equipped for a comfortable visit. Overall, a very good stay and a solid choice in Porthmadog.
The property is a bit older, and a few upgrades to the carpets and washrooms would make the experience even better.
Everything
Nothing it was perfect
Gorgeous location, helpful staff
Great location, close to Porthmadog. Staff helpful and friendly. Teas and coffees replenished each day with bottles of water.
Breakfast not included, and expensive to buy. Room was small. Restaurant closed 8pm on Sunday, even for residents. Maybe my expectations were too high but very expensive for an average room.
Location close to Portmeirion.
The room was small and too warm. No thermostat. There was a fan, it made little impact. The bed wasn't comfortable. Bells chimed on the hour, throughout the night. We hardly slept. The facilities were poor. It did not feel like a 4 star hotel. The photos on the website did not reflect our experience.
Everything.
The attitude of certain front of house staff members.
Friendly staff
Nice friendly place, breakfast was great

Great pub very friendly staff
There’s not much in the village apart from a small shop
Staff were very friendly and helpful
The fan in our room was covered in dust, we had to clean it before we could use it. It was very hot and the fan was needed
Great value, large house.
Back outdoor area could do with some love.
Frühstück war mittelmäßig, Service auch. Die Klospülung im Nachbarzimmer war sehr, sehr laut !
Friendly welcome, excellent food, super value.
The facility is a bit dated and can do with an upgrade
The place is quite old and need a revamp. The shower in the bath is not convenient and the toilet pump is noisy
There are few options locally for food - both breakfast and for evening meals. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern and quirky restaurant area, as well as the options and high quality of meals on the menu. There was also a lovely beer garden area to sit and drink cocktails in.
I could not fault my stay.
The staff were amazing, and the breakfast is the best I've ever had ( I've had a fair few!). The room was quirky which we like also.
Parking can be a little tricky if its busy, also the double bed was on the small side, but im a big bloke. You.can be accommodated if you book direct and ask for a king-size bed
Not a lot
No WiFi and when called up about it she completely dismissed me not helpful at all! Told her I need to send work emails but she didn’t care There was no space in the restaurant and also no fan in room and people above sounded like they where Guna come through the ceiling
The property was in a great location The staff were lovely
The room needed abit of TLC, bedside drawer was hard to open, bits of paint on the furniture, workout curtains, the bath could do with replacing ( looked very shabby) The window needed abit of TLC
Nice..Bar, Breakfast, Dinner
Bed bit lumpy
Nice setting , loverly pub
Our room was at the front of the building , so had a bit of noise from people outside smoking and chatting
The accommodation far exceeded my expectations. We had lovely rooms. Plenty for breakfast. Ciaran the gentleman taking care of us was excellent. Thank you.
Great value, clean, modern room, polite and friendly staff.
The staff were Lovely The Room was spacious clean and the bed was very comfortable lovely food and location was Ideal for visiting the surrounding area we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely use again 😎👌
Everything was great 👍
The location the village was lovely
There was nothing I didn’t like
Host Kieran a gentleman food delicious place a charm
The location was good the room was great, the dining area & bar were good. The staff were polite & attentive.
I only have a few minor negative comments which I would like to share. The room as I've said was great but it like just one or two small things such as a loo cleaner brush, a box off tissues & most importantly grab rail & a non-slip mat for the shower - I slipped in the shower & could have seriously injured myself. The rooms would probably cater for all ages & it is important to recognize some people are not so mobile as others. We asked about how to get to Portmeiron & they advised a taxi - forget about a bus ,its a one and a half mile uphill walk from the nearest bus stop!!
Good sized rooms, staff were very friendly, we only ate once but the food was very good.
King bed was 2 singles pushed together, mattresses were past their best, very lumpy and springy and we both did struggle to sleep.
Excellent
Nice
Friendly staff. Quaint inn and rooms. Superb food. Meeting local people and other guests. Interesting location and surrounding area. Plenty of parking spaces in an historic Welsh village just next door to Porthmadog with it's beautiful scenery, coastline and unmissable steam railways.
Nothing! We had a most enjoyable stay.
Lee S · Jun 2026 Absolutely amazing 3 day stay at Golden Fleece. Sorry if I haven't mentioned all of the staff but first of all Kieran was fantastic, working reception, bar, serving food and taking luggage to guests room, the temperature was 30 degrees plus outside but he worked like a trogen. Next was Sara and Marilyn, such a warm and friendly welcome, nothing was too much and both were so approachable. Darren who worked the bar was fantastic, great chap and positive attitude. Siani the chef was full of humour and laughter, food was great too. The house keeping was top notch, thanks to Sioned and Ceri Ann. Portmerion is only 10 minutes drive away, myself and my partner got married there this week, Golden Fleece couldn't do enough for us, keeping our flowers fresh and cool, ordering us taxis etc, above and beyond in hospitality and professionalism. Lots of parking outside, rooms are sound, Spar shop walking distance plus chip shop and restaurant but I must say we had no problems with our food at the Golden Fleece. My wife and myself will de definitely returning in the future, thank you so much for enhancing our truly magical 3 days stay. Read more · · Jun 2026 We were there on Thursday the 9th. Four of us. It didn't go well, I'm afraid. We were in the bar because we had a small dog with us. Two of us just ordered fish and chips on the grounds that fish and chips is near impossible to mess-up. The batter (I kid you not) was like CONCRETE encasing a very small piece of fish. I mentioned it to the waiter, but got no "Sorry! I'll mention it to the chef" or any other appropriate response. I would have become angry, but one of our party suggested that the waiter behaved like someone with learning difficulties, so I held my tongue. If my companion was right, I want to applaud the proprietors for their inclusive employment policy. It's good to see the disadvantaged among us getting a chance.
Nothing, loved everyone and everything about our stay.
Very friendly. Good food. Good location. Highly recommend
Great village location, excellent bar and Restaurant. Comfortable accommodation, great customer service
Breakfast was good
Room was a little basic
Great place lovely location absolutely wonderful friendly helpful staff couldn’t wish for more would book through hotel next time as you get free breakfast!
Just the WiFi at our room location was a little poor
Great location. Comfy bed. Friendly staff.
Difficult to book directly so missed the opportunity for a complimentary breakfast. Shower had poor water pressure
Situated just outside the main town but quiet and quaint. Our King Suite was utterly fabulous and good VFM. Staff we were very welcoming and helped with entry to the building with our rooms and information. Local pub very pleasant but hotel bar also very good. Breakfast very nice and prompt service.
The evening meal was delicious and early evening service was fine. We felt a bit abandoned later on ( no dessert menu provided until asked for, no return to take order and mopping floor around us. - not what I’d call late for a hotel).
Beautiful location, lovely cottage
Bed was very lumpy and duvet cover kept coming off over as had no buttons to fasten or secure it
Great location and the whole setup just works well. Safe parking and the 3 bedroom house we had was fantastic for our trip and had everything we needed. Staff super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!!
Pub was pretty. Well looked after. Staff lovely. Bed comfy. Plenty of tea and coffee. Hair dryer if needed.
We couldn't close the window properly. Room wasn't cold though. Toilet made a horrendous noise when flushed and so did the bath when I emptied it. Thought it must be something to do with the plumbing. Food a bit over priced. Would have been nice to see stay in the pub building it's self, not over the road. I did book it last minute though.
Gute Lage, nettes Personal.
Zimmer klein und krumm (schräger Boden), Schimmel in der Dusche. Sehr weiche Matzratze.
La habitación era estupenda y el personal muy amable
Nice quiet village, room was lovely, evening meal and breakfast was very good.
We enjoyed every part, couldn’t fault at all.
Lovely room, with whirlpool bath and separate shower. Parking not a problem, either on the street or behind the property. The room is in a separate building to the Inn itself, but that wasn’t an issue.
Window rattled all night and rips in net curtains
It was an amazing place very clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and happy to help when required.
Pub atmosphere and not bland and very polite and sociable staff.
On road parking in a very busy area.
Property was absolutely stunning loved all the room amazing theme behind it
Was all good
We got a free room upgrade which was perfect!
The location was scenic
Room wasn’t clean. Sweets on the floor under the bed, bathroom could’ve been cleaner. The room itself was identical to what you would get in a travelodge! Not worth the money in my opinion. Drinks are extremely expensive ( £6.55 for a lager ) Food was disappointing Only choice on the A4 piece of paper menu was a few starters. Mains, roast dinner was the only choice. Chicken was dry and hardly any gravy
The drive up was beautiful. The outside appearance of the place was pritty.
The room was small for a king size room. The nets on the window was full of holes. The bin in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied from the last visitor. There were stains on the pillows. The floors looked untidy ( needed hoovering). The duvet cover on the bed was inside out. They only provided Decaf teabags. The service when we arrived was unacceptable, he was creepy. The breakfast in the morning was very basic. Nothing special at all. For the price we paid I was expecting more.
The cottage was very pretty. Lovely size. Spotless. Great facilities. Lovely food at the restaurant. Staff were great. Good location.
The beds weren't comfortable. The sofas were uncomfortable.
Check in was fine, location good. The room was in an annexe building not far away, quite small but quiet, clean and comfortable enough.
Returning from a long day out we were looking forward to a drink in the bar we noticed a couple coming out of the front door with drinks in their hands - strange but thought nothing of it. Got to the bar at 21.30 to be told it was shut and they were just waiting for some stragglers to leave....yes 9.30pm. After a bit of debate they poured us a drink for us to enjoy in our quiet small bedroom - I think the decision to shut was more for the benefit of staff than customers - my local stays open until the last person leaves.
Lovely cottage perfect for 5 girls. Pub was perfect!
One has to be prepared to go in a bunk but that wasn’t a problem for us.
Ligging
Veel te kleine badkamer en douche.
Wasn’t impressed by the hotel. They rang less that an hour before check in time after driving in traffic do 2 1/2 hours to say the room wasn’t available stating that the toilet in the room we booked which we had done months ago was blocked. I then get informed by booking.com that the room had been double booked. The cynical side of me wondered if they saw the weather was so good and chose to give our room away at a greater price.
I’d like to say only we never got a chance to stay there.
Very clean well presented property everything worked well friendly staff as well just a nice place to stay
Lovely hotel, rooms were cosy & clean. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was yummy. On our first night the toilet in our room was quite noisy, we told reception who moved us to a different room straight away. We were really happy with this hotel overall and would definitely stay again & recommend it.
Nice decor and overall a nice stay
Lovely team, great food and excellent location. Would stay again!
A little more imagination on the restaurant side of things would improve the experience
Very friendly staff. Easy walk to Porthmadog.. Good food.
Beds were lumpy and pillows were flat. The plumbing was really noisy and the shower wasn’t very good.
good food
nothing
The coziness
Great staff and lovely food - the location suited us very well indeed. Great weather was the icing on the cake.
Nothing I can think of.
Location and space
Bathroom shower needed resealing
- Grest staff - Good quality rooms - Comfy bed - Clean and regular housekeeping - Perfect location for exploring - Cute little town
Stayed for 2 nights for a walking weekend. The rooms were across the square form the pub/restaurant where we ate both nights The food was amazing and great quality and the breakfast didn't disappoint, bacon and sausage obviously sourced from a great butchers. However, the stand out for me was the staff, so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, our walk over ran so we rang to say we would be late for our evening meal reservation and they said not to worry and just turn up when we were ready. At breakfast take away coffees were a nice touch, we were made to feel incredibly welcome, we will be back.
Good location
Shower was awful and didn’t really work
It was it a quiet and beautiful location
Maybe we would go for a slightly bigger room next time, but it was ample just for the one night
I liked the monkey lights and the staff in the restaurant were lovely
It was cold, no heating on that night. Not a huge problem
Good location
Expensive for the quality of accommodation
In a lovely location and has character.
I had a single room and it was super basic. Smelled musty which is why the window was open and cold. Fan heater no heating! Shower needs updating. Coffee machine no pods?? Wouldn’t take much to spruce it up and make it more comfortable.
Everything
No fault
Staff, location, premises
The tap in the sink wasn't working (so we used the bath tap) and the heating didn't seem to work as expected which made the room a bit cold - but this didn't have any significant impact on our stay and we still very much enjoyed. We mentioned this at check-out to the lovely staff and were advised we should have called the out of office number, however we were reluctant to do as we saw on the website/ booklet that this number should only be used in an emergency. Overall though a lovely stay with wonderful staff and we would happily stay again knowing how helpful the staff were.
Location was nice, plenty of parking around, quiet place.
Rude staff, who physically copy your card details in file without asking and ask you to leave if you ask to pay regularly with the POS. The room was terribly small and literally slanted. The bathroom had the toiler cleaner left there.
Le personnel hyper à l’écoute et d’une très grande gentillesse Propreté de la chambre Chambre individuelle très cosy et très fonctionnelle Proche de pleins petits commerces Le restaurant
Great breakfast in the morning and the staff were all very friendly, a really enjoyable stay
Staff were super helpful and friendly. Vegan lasagne available in the restaurant a total bonus.
