New resort with plenty of potential - but not ready yet I’m currently staying at the hotel and, having experienced it first-hand, I think it’s important to give a balanced review. The hotel has only recently opened and, to be fair, everything is very clean, fresh and new. However, it is clear that the property still has a considerable way to go before it can genuinely be considered fully operational. One of the biggest disappointments has been the swimming pools. With temperatures of 90°F+ (32°C+), the pool should be somewhere to cool down and escape the heat and direct sun. Unfortunately, the water is extremely warm and provides very little relief. In this climate, I would expect at least one properly temperature-controlled pool. There are also still a significant number of floors and rooms undergoing renovation, with loud remedial/construction work taking place daily from morning through to evening. This can be quite disruptive and is not what you would expect when paying for a relaxing resort holiday. The hotel itself has plenty of potential, and I’m sure that once the remaining works are completed and the operational issues are resolved, it could become a very good property. Based on my experience while currently staying here, my recommendation would be to wait at least another three months before booking. Give the hotel time to finish the renovation works, resolve the operational issues and get everything fully up and running. At the moment, it feels more like a new hotel still finding its feet than a fully operational resort.

Save yourself a headache and find a different resort. I directly booked through the RIU app. 2 adults and 2 teens. Paid for 3 adults and a child ( ages 15 and 12). No flights just hotel. Flew in on Sunday. Double checked daily and even called ahead 48 hours prior to confirm our Oceanview jr suite with queen beds. Also pre-checked in and had copy of check in that was confirmed. At check in, we immediately received RIU palace bracelets, paid the hotel tax and confirmed the room. The man was about to give us room keys when the manager, Ira, walked over and denied us. We were heavily discrimined against. 2 other parities argued with staff at the same time we were. A party of 6 was yelling at staff because half their party was arriving on Tuesday and they separated them between caribe and peninsula. The person said they only had 3 rooms left. Ira the manager walked over and cancelled my reservation in front of us. I complained and said I have seen on the FB fan page that others were upgraded to villas. Why is my family being left out. I was just told "it is what it is". They then demanded I sign a release of liability for this issue. We said no we refuse. We then called customer service and they told us oh well go to caribe. We only asked for access to restraunts since my husband has severe garlic allergy. We were denied everything. No compensation. No upgrade at caribe. NO REDUCED RATE!!! Same price for lower level hotel. They told us they would have their RIU service drive us next door for free. As we were arguing, another party arrived. 5 people with a toddler. They gave them room keys, bracelets and signed them in immediately. I asked what a type of room and they said jr suite, same as us. I then argued about them getting in and well as the other man saying they had 3 rooms left. Split my kids and my husband up...2 to a room. They said no you need to leave now. We can confirm the discrimination. We then were called a public taxi and took a 1 min ride next door. At check in. I even called, texted and kept checking my riu app. I'm here now and my riu app still says I'm at the palace peninsula, when we are at caribe. Way smaller room. Full size beds, lower quality alcohol and not much for my teens to do. I would rebook ASAp instead of being told at the arrival reception desk

We were had an ocean view room booked months in advance and when we arrived at the hotel they began to check us in. we signed the paperwork, paid the taxes, received the bracelets for the all inclusive package. Then Ira walked up to who had just checked us in and whispered something to him in Spanish. He came back and all of a sudden they didn't have a room any longer and none were available. Another family with children walked in after we did and they received a room. We were 100% discriminated against and forced next door to a hotel with half the amenities and smaller beds we will not fit in. I have food allergies and needed a multitude of options and now have hardly anything I can eat. You are 100% taking a gamble booking with Riu and they should be ashamed of their deceptive business practices.

I brought my family here for a vacation, and overall the resort offered a good variety of activities and entertainment. The rooms were nice, and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. However, our experience at checkout left a very bad impression. When we first arrived and entered our room, one of the curtains already had a noticeable tear in it. Keep in mind that the curtain was ripped before we even touched the room. At checkout, we were suddenly charged $80 for a ripped curtain that was there since the day we came to the resort. We explained that it had been damaged since the day we arrived, but the employee insisted that it was our fault because we had not reported it to the front desk sooner. That policy was never communicated to us, which made the situation incredibly frustrating. Fortunately, my son had been recording our vacation for a vlog and had filmed the room on the day we checked in. The video clearly showed the tear in the curtain, proving that the damage was already there. Thanks to that evidence, we avoided being unfairly charged. It's disappointing because we truly enjoyed many aspects of the resort, but being accused of causing damage we didn't create and having to defend ourselves with video proof left a sour ending to an otherwise pleasant family trip. The resort put up a fight just for a few extra bucks and had lost another customer because of it.

Absolute shame on Riu Palace Peninsula and their staff. There are clear food safety issues. My partner and I both got a terrible illness, where we were both vomiting and facing diarrhoea for 2+ days. We informed the staff, who did absolutely nothing to assist. In fact, they claimed we were lying, and the front desk manager threatened to "sue me" if I posted this information online. We were stuck in our hotel room for hours on end just vomiting, once after another. We gained the strength to leave the room for two hours, informed the front desk that our room needed cleaning ASAP; nobody came within those two hours. We felt weak once again and went back to the room for an hour or so. We left for another two hours, once again informing the front desk that cleaning was necessary (there was vomit and excrement in our bed and on the ground); the cleaning staff did not come once again. I was forced to walk downstairs, effectively yell at the front desk, and only then was our room cleaned within 30 minutes. The hotel claims they offered us a bland food service after we informed them; this is not true at all. We were forced to order delivery food from other external restaurants on our own dime. I would not stay at a Riu property again if I was being PAID! Shame on all of you. For the staff who I've communicated with via email who state that I am the only one facing these issues; READ YOUR OWN REVIEWS! There are COUNTLESS cases of these health issues! You can NOT tell me I am lying! There was CLEARLY a significant number of health issues at the resort at the time of our stay. Now, you face an accident, where 2+ workers are seriously injured. This is typical of the safety precautions you will face at the Riu Palace Peninsula. Thankfully, the victims were not tourists, as otherwise they would be told they were lying about their serious injury. Shame on Bioleta (PR Manager of Riu Palace Peninsula). You know my phone number. The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. For an ‘all inclusive’ restaurant, nothing is remotely inclusive about it. When we first arrived we were told we didn’t have to book any of the restaurants, this is not true. You MUST arrive to the restaurant at 6pm otherwise it’ll be full for the rest of the evening. If you do somehow manage to arrive at 6pm, there is a line at least 50 people in in which you must wait to then be given a time to come. This is literally the definition of booking. Multiple nights there has been some of the restaurants closed last minute therefore making the other restaurants busier. When I approached the reception about it, they didn’t want to know at all and they’d ’sort something’ for the inconvenience. Shock; nothing has been sorted. The staff here look genuinely annoyed by everyone’s presence, if you ask one thing of them they expect a tip. Every member of staff expects a tip for not even giving the bare minimum amount of effort, let alone going above and beyond. Around the pool, the waiter staff will only come back to you if you tip them, the bar staff at Pepes bar by the pool told us to tip the waiters if we wanted service. Horrific experience from start to finish.

No primeiro dia estava tudo perfeito até que tudo começou a ficar ruim. Recebemos a notícia de que o hotel fecharia nos próximos dias para uma reforma e com isso começou a faltar insumos básicos como pão e manteiga no café da manhã, bares e restaurantes temáticos fechados e muitos trabalhadores realizando uma obra antecipada interferindo na paz e sossego da estadia

Fui questionar com a gerente a situação da falta de insumos e o fechamento dos bares e restaurantes e ela disse que nada poderia fazer. Eu insisti que não queria ficar naquele hotel e ela me transferiu para um do mesmo grupo, mas de valor inferior, fiquei com o prejuízo

1人で宿泊したけど十分楽しめた。隣のリウカリブは系列なので入ることができ、リウパーティーにも参加できて良かった。ビーチに関しては想像するようなビーチってわけではないが綺麗で遊べるビーチだった。初めてのオールインクルーシブだったが、いい体験ができた。

エレベーターが潰れていて1つしか稼働していなかったのでエラーベーター待ちの行列できていた。日本食レストランの歌舞伎はみんなが想像するような日本食ではない。あくまで創作料理として食べるべき。でも美味しかったよ。

The beach is nice.

The hotel will be closing for renovations immediately after our check-out, which likely explains why we were unable to fully enjoy the facilities during our stay. For example, there are supposed to be seven restaurants available, but most of them were closed while we were there. As a result, I don’t believe we received the level of service or value that we paid for.

Rudest staff I’ve ever had. Everyone seems annoyed you’re there. Countless times you ask for something politely and you get a sigh or they seem angry. Most restaurants were closed on Saturday (we stayed 3 nights). The food is actually good. The room is mediocre at best. Overall would never come back.

The elevator situation is horrible. 6 elevators -2 built off, 2 only work from lobby with an employee. Can’t get in going down. The other two worked for a while but one stopped. So 1 elevator for 1400 people is ridiculous. We should get a refund for a ruined vacation.

The Riu Palace has been my go-to resort since 2009, and I’ve stayed at many properties in multiple countries. This trip, however, was extremely disappointing. My husband and I, there to celebrate our anniversary, were told upon arrival that we couldn’t have the king bed room we booked, only a room with two double beds. The guest in front of me in line was told the same – he yelled and made a scene, and was given the king bed room. I didn’t want to do that, and instead agreed to pay an extra charge to stay in the adults only area so we could have a king. We specifically asked if our upgraded room would be facing the highway and were assured it was a garden view room. It wasn’t – you could see and hear the traffic from our balcony. That night we tried to go to two specialty restaurants. Both were EMPTY, but we were still turned away at both. I’ve never had this happen at a Riu before. Sure, you have to wait if they are busy. But it was obvious they were understaffed and accepting fewer guests than normal. I found out this resort was days away from closing for six months for renovations, which I didn't know when I booked the trip. You could tell they had already started the process of shutting down, and that we were not going to receive a typical Riu experience, which we didn’t. But of course the price I paid for the trip was the same as always. I might not have said anything, but a staff member at the sports bar was extremely condescending to my husband when he went for coffee the next morning, and I decided to express my disappointment with everything that happened in our first 12 hours there to the staff. Lalo at the front desk did offer me a refund on the extra I paid for the adults only room if I was willing to move to a king bed room in the main building, which is what I had originally booked. Now, suddenly, it was available? Why couldn’t I have just gotten what I had paid for the day before? It’s like I wasn’t an important enough guest – or I guess a loud enough guest. And at that point, I had heard multiple complaints from guests about the elevators not working in the main building, and I thought things might only get worse if I moved rooms. Lalo told me to come back after 12 p.m. when a different manager was available and maybe they could do something else for me then. I waited in line for 20 minutes for him to basically tell me the same thing he said earlier in the day. In the middle of our conversation, another front desk worked interrupted us and starting talking to Lalo. I proceeded to stand there for another five minutes like an idiot as the two of them ignored me, then finally walked away in disgust. What was the point of making me come back and waste all that time on vacation? It only made me more angry. We also had an experience on the beach I wanted to mention. My husband, who is Black, decided to have a cigar on the beach. The hotel has ash trays scattered around, and there are no “No Smoking” signs outside. But apparently it is illegal to smoke on the beach in Mexico, and we didn’t know that. After less than 10 minutes, the Mexican police arrived. They first approached the only other Black male guest on the beach and asked if he had been smoking. Then they came over to my husband. We had no idea what was going on. The cops took pictures of us with their cell phones, then let us go. It seemed obvious that someone had called the cops and reported a Black male smoking on the beach. Either that, or the police came on their own and targeted the only two Black male guests on the beach, one of whom was not smoking or doing anything illegal. Neither possibility is one that would make me feel comfortable returning to Cancun with my husband. This was my seventh trip to the area, and there have always been people smoking on the beach, and the police have never questioned anyone. But I have also only traveled with other white guests in the past. We finally got into a specialty restaurant on our last night. Again, it was empty and we were initially turned away. The host showed me that 29 people were ahead of me in line and tried to discourage me from adding my name to the wait list because we might not get in. I did anyway, and we were seated 25 minutes later. It made no sense. Our poor waiter got four tables at once and was racing to serve us all. It was nothing like a typical Riu dining experience. We also learned from a staff member that the restaurants are all shutting down before the hotel does -- the guests who are staying there this weekend are really going to be stuck with nothing, and I bet they don't know that. And I bet they were charged the same as I was for my trip. After this, I am definitely on the hunt for a new resort chain to use as my go-to. If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them!

Located along the hotel zone, this property offers the perfect balance of convenience and tranquility. Despite being close to all the action, it remains quiet, peaceful, and feels very safe throughout the stay. The atmosphere is relaxing and ideal for unwinding. There are also well-organized resort activities scheduled daily, giving guests plenty of options to stay entertained without ever feeling crowded or overwhelming. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for both relaxation and enjoyment.

The tours are a little pricier than other private tours.

I can't afford to get away every year, so I was really looking forward to this trip. Unfortunately, we had a lot of problems. We had booked 2 rooms and requested that they be close. I know they can't guarantee adjoining rooms, but we weren't even in the same building. We also upgraded to an ocean room view. My balcony had a 4 foot concrete wall. If I sat in the half broken chair that was provided, I saw 4 concrete walls and nothing else. The next day, I went and requested that I get moved to be in the same building as my friend, as they had suggested. Horrible view. The room was mainly overlooking a roof with only a partial view of the ocean. I went to use the ironing board, but when I took it out of the closet, it was so old and rusted that 2 of the legs were no longer attached. I told the cleaning lady so that they would replace it for the next person in the room. Instead, they wanted me to pay for breaking it. Eventually, they made me sign a waver that said that I did not do the damage. The resort was so loud, I barley slept the entire trip. They use heavy doors that slam very loudly when they shut. These doors were slamming all night long. It almost sounded like a gun shot (I knew it was not a gun shot). It was that loud. Also, people were partying and screaming in their rooms and hallways until 4 or 5 am each night. There was no security and apparently no rules. The drinks were definitely watered down and horrible tasting. It is the only time that I have had a terrible margarita in Mexico. The pools all closed at 7 pm which I have never experienced either. I've only been to resorts where they close at 10 or 11 pm. The safe in the room didn't work and the freezer in the mini fridge looked dangerous. The hotel is old and needs some repairs, did not seem like a 5 star despite the amenities available. On a positive note, the beaches were beautiful, and there were many lovely pools. Overall, the staff were also very friendly.

The location is fantastic with a beautiful, swimmable beach. Take your snorkles and with a little snack of bread you will see a variety of fish in the water near the large rock outcrop. We saw Sergeant Majors, Anglefish (Palometa), Black Damsels, Angelfish and many other white fish. We also saw a small Baracuda. The white sand is phenomenal and there are many palm trees on the beach that we liked. There was always lounge chairs available in nice shady spots. There were umbrellas and always someone to bring an umbrella and set it up. There were waitors on the beach and service everywhere was above and beyond. The Las Olas buffet was excellent. The Steakhouse was really good and we had steak and lobster, go early to secure your table. We went 2 times and had the lobster, quite large. We liked the Bloody Mary station and the Mimosa one, every morning. We liked the Neon Party and didn't find the music on other nights too loud, too late. We liked the live music on Latin night? and the piano bar. Check in and out was fast and polite. Patricia suggested we upgrade and could check in early (at 12:00) and we did. We were on the 12th floor and had breath taking views out the window across the pool and to Isla Mujeres. The isalnd lights were beautiful at night. Our bathroom was nice with granite counters and a rainshower. Huge bath tub...big nice towels. Immaculately clean.nice tv with good reception.Stocked mini fridge and bar. No complaints from me. The color scheme with purple and hot pink was Miami vice like, but it was also kinda working with the beach scene. Purple glass blocks in the bathroom were a bit dated, but unique. The gardens were amazing and immaculate. Overall, a great time and I would definitely return.

I didn’t like anything about the property.

Yes I he did everything about this property. It was a baiting switch. I paid half down before I came down for the vacation and only expecting to pay 4500 bucks for the rest and instead of costing me another $4000 and then they tried to tell me they gave me a junior suite when in fact it was just a regular room and to upgrade to a suite at that point cost me another $4000 there was jackhammering in the morning that started at seven couldn’t hardly sleep. The elevators were so small that they couldn’t accommodate anything more than seven people with luggage this was the worst expert in my entire life.

We had a confirmed, fully prepaid 5-night stay at Riu Palace Peninsula booked months in advance through our travel agent. After a long day of travel with our two young children (ages 4 and 2), including one with special needs, we arrived at the resort in the evening—only to be told they were overbooked and had no room for us. What made this worse is that they clearly expected us—they handed us pre-printed envelopes with our names and reservation details before informing us we couldn’t stay. There was no prior notice, no apology, and no real effort to handle the situation with empathy. We were told we’d be sent to a sister resort “20 minutes away.” In reality, it was closer to 40 minutes, in the direction we had just come from. After already traveling all day with exhausted and hungry children, we were put back on a bus, delayed further for a gas stop, and didn’t arrive at the new hotel until much later. Upon arrival, we were asked to sign a form stating that we voluntarily chose to stay at the alternate property and waived any claims. That is simply not true—we had no choice. We also originally booked a two-bedroom junior suite to accommodate our group, but instead were given two separate standard rooms. This was a clear downgrade from what we paid for. To make matters worse, when we asked for a very simple accommodation—a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for our autistic child who has limited food options—we were refused, despite the ingredients clearly being available at the resort. Overbooking can happen, but how a resort handles it matters. In this case, the lack of communication, poor treatment, and complete absence of customer care turned what should have been a special family trip into a stressful and disappointing experience. I would strongly caution others before booking here.

I hate I have to give them even one star. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS. Housekeeping went through my daughter's personal stuff and stole her iPad. (It had all of her notes for college hence why it was so vital we got it back.) We proved it through the "Find My" app, but we didn't discover it until a few hours for leaving for the airport. Gustavo, the manager on duty at the time, took our information and promised the resort would make it right since we had to leave to come back home. And, again, had proof it was removed from the resort solely by someone on their staff since we hadn't been off resort and no one else had come in our room. Since then, the resort has yet to acknowledge the complaint, and what they did address, is not at all what happened. I've now had to pay to replace it and the resort is denying any involvement. DO. NOT. TAKE. THE. CHANCE.

Riu peninsula is keeping our money from a cancelation due to illness . We need a document for our travel insurance and the representative from India is demanding we give him $1000 for the needed documents. He was yelling and argumentative demanding more money from us when we are going through travel insurance. This is a total scam and he eventually hung up on us when we wouldn't give him $1000. When we initially tried to cancel with them, they said it was too late, yet now riu packages is demanding $1000 and refusing to give us needed documents for our travel insurance. I know riu reads these comments, please send us contact info immediately to fix this.

First, let me say we're repeat Riu guests. We've come to expect a certain level of quality from Riu, especially from a Riu Palace. The staff, as always, was absolutely amazing - friendly, helpful, efficient, and hardworking. However, this hotel has a major upgrade starting in a month or so. It was very clear that there was no room in the budget for actual repairs beyond cleaning because of this pending update. Two elevators out of 6 were out of service, and one of the others had a malfunctioning weight limit alarm, so we often took the stairs from the 6th floor. Tiles were broken and missing everywhere, especially in the pools, and we saw numerous guests requesting bandaids for injured feet in the pool area. Art on the walls was zip-tied together. The steam room was luke warm, with controls hanging off the wall. Lots of cracked furniture cushions, chipped paint, and old towels were common. Our room's door wouldn't latch without significant effort. The food was truly disappointing. The buffets were absolute chaos, with no clear flow of traffic, which means people were constantly running into each other and dropping plates. Rice was often hard, dishes were cold and bland, meat was either overcooked or undercooked, and the main coffee shop didn't open until 10am. The burger & hot dog stand by the pool (instead of an amazing fresh taco stand, like some other Rius have) ensured we smelled like grease every day that we swam there. Custom-made food was pretty good, aside from occasional lack of seasoning. Entertainment staff was excellent, cleaning staff kept this aging resort spotless, check-in staff was very helpful and courteous, and wait staff was incredibly attentive. They saved our vacation. I sincerely hope Riu takes care of them during construction/shutdown, because they are the sole reason for this resort's success.

I will at sometime write a full review but for now this will do. We are at the minute staying at the Riu Palace Peninsula. We chose here as we had stayed before and it was an excellent hotel. How things have changed. The hotel is to close soon for refurbishments. The refurbishment isn't the issue. Everything has gone down hill. The food is mediocre at best. The choice in the restaurants is very limited and not very good. It has become a hotel for young drunk and very loud guests. At the minute we are sitting in the lobby and there is no escaping the noise. The Riu Party seems to go on forever. I like the craic and fun as much as the next person but there has to be an end to it. Guests playing their own music through portable speakers in the lobby bar in the early evening. Come on Riu management do something.

The pool.

Everything was broken. So many issues with our room that needed to be fixed (lightbulbs needed to be replaced, tv remote broken, tv skipping every 10 seconds, all channels in spanish except news, tub drain didn’t work properly and no drinks in the room that were not carbonated, not to mention the shower door came crashing down on me due to wear and tear from the hinges. I got several abrasions and cuts on my hands and feet. The elevators make a strange sound like they are breaking every time you get to the lower level. The food was disgusting. If you are used to America food, do not come here.

I had an amazing stay at the Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Cancún! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Check-in was quick and smooth, and we immediately felt like valued guests. The resort itself is beautiful and very well maintained. Our room was spacious, spotless, and had a stunning ocean view that made waking up every morning feel like a dream. The beds were comfortable, and the room amenities made the stay even more enjoyable. The food exceeded expectations for an all-inclusive resort. There were multiple restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The buffet had plenty of options, and the specialty restaurants made each evening feel special. The pools and beach area were another highlight. The beach had soft white sand and clear turquoise water, and there were always plenty of loungers available. The pools were clean, relaxing, and perfect for enjoying the warm Cancún sunshine. Entertainment and activities were great as well—there was always something happening, from live shows in the evening to fun daytime activities around the pool. Overall, Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula delivered a fantastic vacation experience with great service, beautiful surroundings, excellent food, and a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again! Footnote: I only had a few very minor gripes. A couple of times we needed more water and coffee. It took two calls to the front desk to get it delivered. The steak I had at the Japanese restaurant was extremely tough and chewy. The room service menu is very limited. The towel card system is kind of annoying but I understand why they do it. Only two out of three elevators working on our side of the building.

O hotel tem um excelente espaço, com vários restaurantes, bares e um trecho de praia bom. Café da manhã excelente, com muitas opções e a comida muito boa no buffet geral.

Há uma quantidade muito pequena de garçons/barmans, por isso sempre era preciso esperar para conseguir um drink. Quase não há garçons na praia/piscina, obrigando o hóspede a ir até o bar ou carrinho de bebidas para conseguir um drink. Apesar da variedade de restaurantes, todos têm poucos lugares e limitadas opções de pratos. Os drinks, em grande parte, são pré-preparados, muito econômicos na quantidade de álcool e com qualidade mediana. O hotel dá um "cashback" de metade do valor de hospedagem em créditos para serviços no hotel, todavia, os créditos só concedem pequenos descontos, nunca tendo opções boas para o seu uso. Pelo que se paga no hotel, esses pontos realmente incomodaram.

After researching all the AI resorts in Cancun I booked with RPP. Feb 24-March 3. My Husband and I enjoyed every aspect. Food was good at all restaurants and buffets. Beach was small but beautiful, and the water was so clear my 6’3” Hubby could see his feet at shoulder depth. Love that some of the pools were heated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks were not overly strong, but when I’m sipping all day they don’t need to be,(you could always ask for extra etch) and they make drinks with real fruit. Rooms need a Reno which is happening in a month. The only annoying aspect was that they were working on the elevators and you could hear jackhammering most of the day in the main atrium. They should have waited to do this when they were shut down for Reno’s.

This is a lively resort! We did not enjoy the "shows" (just musical acts) but we could not escape them. From 9-11pm the entire resort is forced to listen because all rooms face the stage. And it's LOUD! The beds are very uncomfortable. The staff is wonderful! The location is great-about 35 minutes from airport. There's not a flat beach to walk but rather beach access points where they've made paths through the rocks. Not an issue for us. Buffet is exceptional. Drink service on the beach and throughout the resort is perfect. 5 pools are great. No issues at all finding chairs on the beach any time of the day but you definitely need to grab a chair by the pool early if you want one. Photographers will take your pictures constantly and they're $15 a piece to buy. Not a bad price. They'll upgrade your room from partial ocean view (lower floor, view is through palm trees) to ocean view for a small fee ($200). Carribe next door gets loud, so stay away from that side of the beach later in the afternoons. All in all we had a great stay!

I want to be fair in this review because the location is gorgeous and the staff are generally friendly. But there were enough problems during our stay that I feel obligated to share them honestly. We arrived and were told at check-in that my name and birthdate had been changed in their system. When I asked them to fix it, they said they couldn't. Not a great start. The room was okay but the jacuzzi and bathtub were both dirty on arrival. We paid specifically for a jacuzzi room and never used it. The food is where things got serious. On our first night we ate at the Japanese restaurant. The shrimp was served undeveined — a basic preparation step that was skipped entirely. The sushi was cold and clearly not fresh. By the next morning my girlfriend was vomiting, had chills, and was having difficulty breathing. She was sick for the entire day — a full vacation day lost. When we reported it, management was apologetic but offered nothing beyond sending a doctor at our own expense. We escalated to a supervisor and then requested the GM. Every level of management responded the same way: "we have no other complaints so we can't compensate you." I've never heard that used as a reason to do nothing for a guest who got sick at your restaurant. A few other observations: plates at the buffet were visibly unclean on multiple visits. After 4 full drinks at the resort I felt nothing — a stark contrast to 2 sips of a margarita at the airport before arrival. Make of that what you will. The resort is beautiful and the location is hard to beat. But the food safety standards, sanitation, and management response to legitimate concerns left a lot to be desired. We ended up eating off-resort for the remainder of our trip, which partly defeats the purpose of an all-inclusive. Would think carefully before booking here again.

Tuve una situación en que una persona intentó ingresar a mi habitación durante la noche, encontrándome yo con mi hija menor de edad. Front desk staff was the worst I've ever experienced. Not only are they rude, they're unable to solve simple problems. Wouldn't let me cover tax fees with cash or another card. Wanted me to cancel the whole thing and re-book. We also arrived early and were told we couldn't use the pool or any other amenities. Been to Cancun countless times and this was by far the worst experience. Rooms have small "double" beds. One outlet works in the entire room.
