The Old Village, Prestige and Solar by Village 4U

Quality kitchen and bathroom, not just standard fittings or materials. Great views. The complex has everything you need and is moderately priced, around the same as the beach bars which also are what you would expect. The pools were great, didn’t have to pay for entry but did have to pay per sunbed (€4/person/half day) (if you get there early enough). We spent 1 day and 1 half day at the pools as we like to explore the larger areas, of which there is much to do.

El apartamento tenía mucha humedad y olía bastante. Además entran los olores de otros apartamentos. También entraban hormigas por un agujero de la pared donde el aire acondicionado. Tienes que pagar las hamacas de la piscina y si no quieres pagarlo tampoco tienes mucho hueco de césped para tumbarte.

Location is so picturesque and gardens are well maintained and beautiful. Walking around you won’t see a speck of litter. The apartment was nice, 2 balconies front & back, good size and have everything you need.

Firstly, the apartment still wasn’t cleaned and ready for check in at 5pm! This appears a common issue, we saw this happen to others time and again during our stay. No apology, just “go and have a drink and come back”. Racquel’s customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. Secondly, we didn’t see a maid for the entire 7 days we were there. When on day 5 we still hadn’t had a visit we went to ask, my husband was told “the maid was sick” but she’d visit tomorrow (again no apologies or offers of help). Narked by this (and with bath towels in desperate need of changing) we took our dirty towels to the office ourselves and asked her to exchange for clean ones. She obliged. Next day, guess what? No maid, no apology, nothing. The night before we left, I returned some hired pool towels and Racquel eventually asked in a disinterested way, how our stay had been. I told her we’d had a lovely time, the grounds were lovely (mostly) but we felt let down by their service, lack of maids, and communication. She proceeded to tell us “the maid ran out of time” and then “you got new towels so what’s the problem” and told me I should be doing my own cleaning, emptying bins, etc. she literally couldn’t care less and acted like a rude petulant child. Zero customer service. Not a single apology. Lazy company! There are 2 other rental companies in the old village, give them a try instead of this one is my advice. Thirdly, pool areas are tired and shabby with many missing tiles and should not have reopened this season in this condition. The pools open at 9am, you have to queue to get beds at those times. There are 2 Q’s; 1 for owners who get first dibs, the other for guests. You pay €2 per session per bed (am/pm) so all day costs €4 per person. Cash only. I would go back again, but not with this company. I would also want to see the pools fixed and better maintained. I never once saw anyone check the levels 🦠

Excellent location and facilities. The only negative is the beds are like concrete.

The flat was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for self catering including a washing machine. The spar was just opposite our room and was very reasonably priced and well stocked. We had a meal and drinks at the bar and it was lovely. Good food and great atmosphere. It’s a lovely little village. Good location - around 15 mins walk to the bars/restaurants etc. Plenty parking.

The only downside for us were the swimming pools. They were quite small and busy. It was absolutely shocking to us that you had to “pay” for your sun loungers!! This put us off going as a family of 4. Never in my life have a had to pay for Loungers at a place I’ve paid to stay at. We went to the pool around 5pm everyday and were never asked for payment that late but it made it us uncomfortable and unable to fully relax. You also needed a key fob to get in (and out) the pool. Only one fob per 4 people which meant you can’t go to the pool if you don’t have the fob. Even more crazy was that you needed the fob to leave the pool. No fob and you’re stuck there.

Tenías q usar la misma toalla 3 días seguidos porque decía que había lavadora pero he ido con una amiga a pasarlo bien no a lavar ropa. La cama era muy incómoda y no había cafetera en el apartamento. Las tumbonas de la piscina tienes que ir temprano a coger una libre y pagar 2 € por la mañana y 2€ por la tarde. En la web sale que tiene 5 piscinas pero no, solo tiene 3.

Era muy amplio, estaba limpio, las camas eran cómodas, en la azotea se estaba genial por la noche y estaba bien equipado. El complejo en sí mismo es muy bonito y las piscinas son grandes.

Pone que el check-in es de 16:00 a 18:00, llegamos a las 16:15 con la compra ya hecha (con comida de nevera que podría estropearse) para esos días y nos encontramos con que el apartamento no estaba preparado aún. Cuando dijimos en recepción que habían pasado las 16 nos dijeron que eran ellos los que podían escoger entre las 16 y las 18 para entrar, (lo que no ocurre en ningún lado). Nos dijeron que nos dejaban entrar en la piscina y dejar las cosas en la nevera mientras lo preparaban, pero al final nos tuvieron casi una hora esperando fuera al calor con todas las cosas. Además, y lo que aún nos pareció de mayor gravedad es que nos intentaron cobrar un depósito de 300 euros por ser jóvenes (23 años) sin ponerlo en ningún lado de la reserva y que justo nos lo pidieron cuando les dijimos que el apartamento debería haber estado preparado a las 16. Como no quisimos pagarlo al no estar incluido en el contrato decidieron que nos iban a hacer visitas sorpresa para ver que todo estuviera bien, lo que tampoco respetaba nuestra intimidad.

Het zwembad was erg vies! En in de omschrijving stond dat er een BBQ aanwezig was maar dat was niet het geval. Kregen een onbevredigend antwoord van de receptie. Ook toen wij vroegen of wij heel even langer konden blijven in het appartement na uitchecken stuurde ze precies om 10.00 de schoonmaak.

Wonderful stay, few pools/pool bars to choose from in the day. Apartment clean and had all what we needed. spar shop & places to eat on site very handy, reasonable prices too. It is such a beautiful place to stay on holiday, the marina is a 20ish min walk in, was fine for us. Staff were brilliant. You have to get down to pool early to get a sunbed, other than that, fab.

The property was in a great location, backed onto the pool with its own private access and a private garden with sunbeds. This meant we didn’t have to queue or pay for beds around the pool. We had 3 good sized bedrooms with comfy beds and great air-conditioning! Kitchen was fully equipped too

Furniture and decor was a little dated but all worked fine. Some food basics such as salt and pepper would have been useful.

Staying at old village prestige meant we were not given a fib to access all the pools. Reception told us that we would have to go there each day to see if a fob was available and if it was we would be given it for the day. Problem with that is reception did not open till 9 by which point all those who were staying in old village with a fob had already reserved beds by the pool. The pool that is reserved for those staying in the prestige section does not have beds by it - as a result we got Ubers to the beach every day so did not experience the pools or snack bars serving them. It should be made clear that if staying old village prestige then you don’t get a fob for the pool areas and instead have to request one daily

Beautiful location, close to villamoura , Apartment was comfortable and clean with all necessary amenities.

Door in our apartment was a bit temperamental. Rang security for help getting in one night and in fairness he arrived quickly. Not very nice seemed annoyed we had to call him. Also we found it difficult to find the correct reception to collect the keys. Girl in office wasn’t that nice when I suggested it might be a good idea to specify exactly where to collect the key for our apartment.

This is a beautiful place. Spotless, friendly, scenic, had everything we needed. Appointment was lovely. Comfortable and noise free every night. A choice of 4 swimming pools. Lovely restaurants on site with a great selection of food. A taxi service right outside your door to get you to the beach or where ever you need to go. Thank you everyone 💓

Lovely quaint village Spar shop had mostly everything needed. Apt.was clean and tidy.

When I booked ..it said there was air conditioning, Unfortunately there was none...only fans .. which were noisy and only circled warm air. My husband had a few nights of breathing difficulties which didn't help. So please be aware of false advertisement.

Our particular apartment was really excellent, really well equipped and so comfortable. The owners really present it as a home away from home.

I was not in the complex but across the road in solar de golf which was lovely but I couldn't get a fob for some of the pools. Now it worked out fine as there is a brilliant pool in the complex solar de golf just not as sold. Also you had to pay for deck chairs which was annoying with a baby . Lastly, we had ants starting to appear in our ensuite and went to reception three times and nothing happened. I sorted it myself in the end

Location was good & central to old village. The property was very clean despite the very tired/average quality of fitting & furnishings, so cleaners did a very good job.

The stairs to so called penthouse suite steep especially for someone older or with walking or physical issues. Extra paid for upgrade which turned out to be the roof terrace. We never used as only had an umbrella shade that was not in good condition. The cooking facility was very basic, beds & linen very average with an oven that was poor. The sales jargon for apartment was imaginative as the apartment was tired & shabby despite the efforts of the cleaning crew that did an excellent job to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Loved the location, beautiful quaint resort with so much character - plenty of food/drink choices within the resort itself along with well stocked, reasonably priced shop. An enjoyable ~20min walk to the marina - also accessible by tourist train which stops at the resort, weekly pass for this is very reasonable. Apartment itself was spacious, bright and very clean - lovely quiet pool right bedside us too. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, will be back 🙂

Accommodation was spotless abd had everything you could ever need.

Host replied to messages quickly and had a reception. Check in details were clear And we were walked to our room. Room was clean and the entire complex was spotless (almost felt like a film set!) we’ll definitely be staying again. The pool was brilliant too, a pool bar with music and atmosphere. Fresh towels were given on day 3 of our stay, with the room tidied and bins emptied, normally something you only get from a hotel stay.

Handrails in all areas where there are steps would be good. Walkways (tiles) were quite slippery in the village. Found them difficult as I'm not that steady on my feet

We were in Solar do Golfe and not the old village which worked out really well. We loved the private pool which was much quieter than the main pool area which honestly was chaos. Our apartment was mostly modern and very comfortable. Location was super.

1. The bedroom had no air con so we had to move our mattress into the living room every night. 2. If you are in the main part of the old village you have to pay €4 per day per person for a sun lounger which I think is INSANE. 3. The bathroom was very dated and smelt quite bad. 4. The pools were overly clean - they were okay but quite grimy on the bottom.

The property was perfect, for the money you won’t find better value. You won’t find better! The letting agent was superb and sorted all of our transfers, you had a terrace and there was and outer roof terrace above the property, an absolute sun trap. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need and as a former top end chef it’s the best kitchen I’ve been in when in a property abroad! Even down to the cups where you had good sized cups for a morning coffee. It was a very comfortable bed and with two bathrooms worked very well. The only thing I had an issue with was no extra bin liners or loo rolls (but that’s the same with any property). Situated within the Old Village there were perfect little bars in hide away alleys and we had a fabulous breakfast in the Village cafe and was good for a sneaky drink or two. It’s just a 10 minute walk to the Marina or you can get a bolt for about 3 euros plus situated among Pinhal Golf Course and not far from Vila Sol where we were playing. We had a fabulous stay and I can highly recommend this place!

The roof terrace was fabulous and had an amazing view. We liked the peace and quiet of the complex and there was everything you needed if you didn’t want to go off site.

Bed was uncomfortable so didn't sleep well at all. I think having to pay to use the pool is an outrage, should be free as it's part of the complex. if you love the pool it could cost you 5euros a day per person if you do morning session and then afternoon session

Grounds are beautiful. Restaurants, bars, shop and pools are really good. 3 bed was spacious. Roof top veranda and balcony with garden great.

No A/C downstairs (only in bedrooms). Pay extra for beach towels and safety box and to use sun loungers at pool. No shower gel, shampoo or dishwasher tablets. No spare bin bag or cleaning products. Mattresses very uncomfortable and all single beds in house.

Studio apartment was a little tired and was in my opinion overpriced.

The apartment was very clean and we were so happy with it and it's location we would stay without hesitation again and would love to stay in this particular apartment, It was a perfect apartment and the staff were incredible, very kind and very approachable. Amenities onsite were great. The grounds were beautifully kept and very picturesque.

Nothing to do with the apartment but the pool areas were very unclean, lots of rubbish on the ground and it was never swept and the sun loungers and tables were dirty, never wiped down and seemed to have spliages and stains all over them. The apartment was amazing however unfortunately the best was very very uncomfortable.

As camas do quarto e colchões necessitam de ser substituídos. O apartamento está num segundo andar, com escadas com 34 degraus. Um dos hospedes tinha problemas de deslocação. Na próxima reserva temos que controlar a localização.
