This is not the properties fault. And in all fairness they anticipate that people don’t know this but there is quite literally no amenities in the whole area like no grocery store. So the property has frozen foods in the anticipation that some guests don’t know this. So just be aware and do a big shop from Twizel before you get to mt cook

다만 수건을 유료로 그것도 한장당 4달러에 대여하는것은 고려해 볼 만 합니다

We needed a fresh towel as ours had gotten wet from the rain and were rudely told we would need to pay for another one. The response felt a little unaccommodating given the circumstances.

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026We stayed in twin rooms. Very warm and comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the service is friendly. Remember to bring your food from nearby towns when you arrive into Mt Cook. There are only v expensive options for meals in the village especially in winter.

Reviewed Jun 9, 2026I stayed in a female dorm and didn't have any problems. There was a locker (must supply your own lock) to store my bags and the curtain on my bed was substantial enough I felt I had privacy. The staff were very outgoing and helpful.
There weren't enough sinks or bathroom stalls on the first floor, I was often waiting. Also be aware that this hostel is a 15 min walk from the visitor's center/ the rest of Mt Cook Village.

Reviewed May 21, 2026Stayed here for 3 nights. Everything was exceptional! I loved the shared spaces esp the kitchen was equipped with everything you need. Everyone was respectful and the location was amazing. We took the bus and the drop off was right at the doorstep of the hostel. Short walk from some of the treks. Staff were amazing. WILL DEFINITELY stay here again.
None. I think this was the best hostel stay I've ever had, ever.

Reviewed May 19, 2026We stayed in the 8-bed mixed dormitory at Haka House Hostel Aoraki Mt Cook. The location is truly excellent — surrounded by stunning scenery and very convenient for exploring the area, with free parking available which is a bonus. The facilities were generally good and reasonably well maintained, even though the hostel was quite crowded during our stay. Overall, it’s a practical choice given the limited accommodation options in the area.
The room was quite dark, making it inconvenient to move around, especially at night. The hostel was also quite crowded, and our request for lower bunks couldn’t be accommodated. While it didn’t feel like great value for the price, it’s understandable given the location, as there are very limited accommodation options in the area.
