Location and staff

Lack of elevator. Did not realize that a 4 star hotel would not be equipped with an elevator to get to your room. Difficult for an elderly couple specially with a very dimly lighted staircase.

这是第二次入住阿彭策尔，酒店位置特别棒，是小镇中心广场上最醒目漂亮的建筑！酒店设计十分精致典雅，有着独特的阿彭策尔风格，房间温馨别致，特别喜欢！餐厅也布置得十分豪华大气，早餐精致可口……酒店的工作人员特别友好热情！当时预订酒店的时候，就要求房型选择，酒店很热心的帮忙预留我想要的房间，这让人感到很温暖！阿彭策尔一直是我最爱的瑞士小镇，在这儿无可挑剔，以后都会常来……

Perfect location, charming, friendly staff

No aircon and down duvet is not the best bedding option in summer.

The room was huge, comfortable beds, convenient to everything. Good breakfast.

Our room was right above the outdoor restaurant, so quite a bit of noise. Also, large parking lot so car noise.

4 plus Sterne aber keine Klimaanlage - in den Zimmern hatte es über 30 Grad mit sehr viel direkter Sonneneinstrahlung. Da man nicht querlüften kann, auch nicht über den Gang, blieb es auch über Nacht und über Tage extrem heiss und unangenehm in den Zimmern. Zu diesem Preis darf man erwarten, angenehm zu schlafen. Das Hotel wirbt explizit mit Parkplätzen. Beim Aufenthalt stellt man dann fest, dass es in der Nähe eine Tiefgarage gibt, die 25 CHF/Nacht kostet.....das fanden wir irreführend.

So noisy! If your a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the hotel where it might be a little quieter. Our room at the front was noisy- the church bells are ridiculous especially at 6 in the morning when they go on forever! Bed was way too soft for my liking and room was hot even with all windows open Average breakfast

Awesome staff, we got upgraded. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Loved the old apenzell vibe…took me back to the summer days I stayed with my Grosi as a child. Clean and tidy rooms. Recommended!

No AC or fans in the room so with the heatwave it was a bit too hot in the room.

Hierbei geht es nicht, um Nichtgefallen, sondern praktisch wären Steckdosen in Bettnähe. Aber mir ist bewusst, dass es sich um ein Tradinionshaus und nicht um ein modernes Neuzeithotel handelt.

Beautiful historical Swiss hotel right in the centre of Appenzell but only a short walk to station. Staff throughout were amazing helpful and courteous. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice including a cooked option. We were massively impressed and hope to return in the future

We stayed during a 35 degree heatwave so room was a little hot as understandably there was no A/C. Staff supplied fan which helped tremendously. Would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in room but given the heat we made good use of the fridge in the room!

Sehr unkompliziertes Check-in, Upgrade bekommen, sehr nettes Personal, Top Lage in einem der schönsten Häuser in Appenzell. Gutes Frühstück.

Great location in Appenzell. Short walk to shops and train station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We used the sauna after a day of hiking in the rain. Just what we needed! They stored our luggage overnight while we hiked to Aescher to stay one night.

Zimmer etwas altmodisch (alte Fenster, fehlende Storen) Kleiner Lift (mühsam mit Kinderwagen) Fluchtwege und Notausgänge nicht oder schlecht gekennzeichnet !

Very central location. 5 minutes to the train station. Staff is very nice. The room was comfortable and clean. Very cute building and homey rooms. Clean bathroom. Good luggage room where we could park our suitcases after check-out.

Our stay at this hotel was unfortunately far from what we expected, and aside from the convenient location, there was very little that left a positive impression. We have stayed in many different hotels during our travels, but the issues we encountered here were both numerous and disruptive. Upon arrival, we were informed that our room had been “upgraded.” However, the room we were given was a tiny space on the ground floor at the very back of the property, facing the garbage bins. This was nowhere near what one would consider an upgrade, and it left us feeling misled. After raising the issue, we were moved to another room, but this change did not resolve the overall problems. The new room was still far below expectations. The furnishings were outdated, the room felt neglected, and overall comfort was lacking. Although we were traveling as a couple, we were given twin beds, and the beds separated on their own every single night, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. There was no air conditioning, the bathroom door offered no privacy at all, and an unpleasant smell lingered in the room throughout our stay. These issues made it difficult to relax or feel at ease. Breakfast was acceptable in terms of taste, but the dining area felt old-fashioned and the tables were not cleaned thoroughly, which affected the overall experience. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when the environment doesn’t feel hygienic. While the staff was not rude, the initial information we were given about the room was clearly misleading, and this significantly contributed to our dissatisfaction. Feeling misinformed at the very beginning set a negative tone for the rest of the stay. In summary, apart from the location, we struggled to find anything that met even basic expectations. The room conditions, comfort level, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere were disappointing. For these reasons, I would recommend considering other accommodation options.

Tolles Hotel an bester Lage, sehr freundliches Personal und ausgezeichnetem Restaurant. Das Frühstücksbuffet war ebenfalls sehr umfangreich und lässt kaum Wünsche offen.

The Hotel Säntis was so charming. It was like stepping back in time. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Einfach alles, es ist immer super toll und freundlich.

Super Lage, wunderschönes altes Gebäude, tolles Frühstück. Schönes neues Bad mit guter Dusche im Zimmer. Parking für Hotelgäste. Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Die Zimmereinrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen. Matratzen waren viel zu weich. Bei enem 4-Sterne-Hotel erwarte ich einen Wasserkocher oder kleine Kaffemaschine im Zimmer.

Die Lage, das Haus, das Zimmer und auch das Frühstück waren hervorragend. Das Abendessen war sogar hervorragend. Es hat uns sehr, sehr gut gefallen. Vielen Dank.

Für das Einchecken mussten wir etwas lange warten.
