Everything was amazing and there was a nice bar and lovely building I would recommend again... Also I loved the mini fridge inside too because most hotels don't have them atall... Everything was excellent and spot on Xx

Dirty, very tired, noisy. A tiny room. Window opened onto a very dirty and damaged roof of the bay window below.

Reception staff amazing. Room was a good size. Nice atmosphere in bar. Very clean.

Slightly worn interior..scuffs on doors walls and blind. No air con Fridge not working but staff member gave free drinks voucher to compensate. Remote intermittent. Breakfast was nice but some items only lukewarm.

Excellent room, location was perfect, staff were so friendly, lovely dining room with a good breakfast, will stay again.

The lady on reception ( Amy ) was excellent and very helpful. There are very few parking spaces available so she sorted out where to leave the car. The hotel is in an excellent location for the town centre and a short stroll to the beach. The room was decent enough although the bed mattress is approaching end of life so could do to be replaced. We had a small issue with the remote for the tv which when we went to reception got sorted promptly.

Bed mattress ... limited parking although the receptionist resolved this for us at a different car park approx 3 mins walk from the hotel.

I found a long hair in my carvery and noted it to the waiter who was quite dismissive even though it was still on my plate. there was no come back to see how the food was. was annoyed to have to find staff to ask for my sons ice cream for kids meal even though was plenty off staff on and wasn't busy, having stayed here before just feel like the standards have dropped and was disappointed. we checked into room and just a quick change and went out, on return I noticed hairs on top of bedding.I feel deeply disappointed as loved my previous stay here and won't be returning

Everything we use this hotel a few times a year to visit a family member in a resedential home. It is clise to the hotel so less walking for us as we are older guests.

The location was perfect for us. Breakfast was great . The staff on reception and breakfast were exceptional I wish I had noted their names. Good bathroom.

Having to pay for parking across the road.. The bed itself was ok but it extended across the plug socket so having two things plugged in impossible. Quite noisy but to be expected.

Room was too warm and if the window was open too noisy. It was disappointing that you cannot reserve one of the limited parking spaces. Alternative parking is several hundred meters away.

The room was very hot despite a desk top fan. The bed was very uncomfortable. The sink and bath did not drain properly and the lighting in the room did not work and we had to call for assistance. We were told that we would have to pay £5 to park in the car park of the sister hotel opposite as there were no parking places available at the Bold. This then increased to £8.30 as we had been given incorrect information.

We have stayed before and it was a buffet breakfast, this time we had to order breakfast and it wasn’t that good. Room size was small especially the shower.

Breakfast & Shower were decent... (Breakfast was better back in early January'26 tbh, because it was served on buffet basis and they had a very friendly Portuguese manager in charge that made all the difference...)

Where do I start ? A) I've requested a quiet room, days before...what did the receptionist do ? They plonked us in possibly the most basic, uncomfortable and noisy room, also the easiest for the receptionist to assign to..No1, never in that room again!!! B) The Room had a very uncomfortable Mattress and was narrow for 2 people... C) There was a health and safety issue and we reported it to the receptionist immediately after we checked in...the window didn't have a lock!!!! (See picture) needless to say she did nothing and no message left in the room to state that at least they looked at it, VERY LAZY RECEPTIONIST!!!!!) D) Due to the issue of the unsafe window, the room could let in the incredibly loud noise (Loud Humming) of the extractor that was only 3 meters from our room, see attached picture!!! I mean when my wife stayed in another room last year (but at the back side of the hotel as well) the noise was still coming through a closed window but this time, Room no 1, not only it let more noise due to the lack of a lock in the window, it was also much closer to the noisy extractor compared to the room she stayed lady year... E) Lack of Communication is the WORST of all issues tbh..

The decor was nice. The room and bathroom were fine. Tea and coffee provided. The bar area is really nice with outside seating. Breakfast is very good and the gent in charge there couldn’t be more helpful ….. he is a great asset. There was another lovely lady at the hotel (bar/restaurant area) who was really lovely too. She had lots of fabulous dark hair! (I say that to try and describe her and give her credit!) The bedroom fan was appreciated.

The noise ….. generator sounds. It was really hot so had to open the windows, despite the fan…..which was noisy too 😂 We were up on the top floor….the stairs were unhelpful (I have a bad hip).

Great location for my needs. Centrally situated in town centre but also close to the seaside resort amenities. The demeanour of the staff and their attention to my needs stood out for me. Once I figured out how to use the dual shower heads, the bathroom was a treat.

Not being the healthiest person, the two flights of stairs was a little troublesome for me. Due to the weather it was necessary to have the windows open although privacy was maintained with the blinds. But this meant that every sound filtered up from the street below and unfortunately the noise was excessive at times including emptying bottle bins and the seagulls!

34° outside, even hotter inside the hotel especially floor 2. Very small, boxy room with no opening window for ventilation and definitely no air con. Even if air con wasn't possible in the rooms the outside corridors and stairs could have had portable units to cool the hotel down. Also very indifferent staff, some who were excellent, and I'm not sure what to call the others! For instance. A barman who didn't think he had to measure spirits, so just counted to 5 for doubles, has he told me "I've got 17 years experience so know what a measure is". This was the same guy who decided to clean the draft beer pumps at 11pm so only bottles or spirits now! Although at this time we were just only half way through a England world cup game! At around the same time another member of staff walked into the bar and announced that the tv would be turned off at 11.45 regardless of a full time result, so too bad if extra time had happened, luckily the game did finish without extra time. So now time for bed and a rattling fan to keep us cool in the oven (sorry bedroom), you can probably tell from this review we didn't stop for breakfast..

No AC. It was quite hot while we were there. So table fan and ear plugs to block out the noise as the windows needed to be open. I adapted.

Ideally located on Lord Street, the room was nicely decorated albeit very dark- blacks and grays and silver. The staff we superb - helpful, informative and nothing was too much for them. Reception staff including the lady who ironed my husband's shirt when he went to ask for an iron and board, and the waiter at breakfast - all outstanding. The breakfast was very very good too.

The room was unbearably hot and the temperature outside was only 23C and this wasn’t helped by the fact the blinds are black. There was a large fan (which unfortunately was very loud so we couldn’t have it on whilst we were sleeping )which wasn’t switched on already and no air-conditioning which unfortunately in summer even in the UK is required. I appreciate the building is an old building, but something needs to be done. And the Venetian blinds need a proper clean. They were extremely dusty and seeing the window wasn’t open when we entered the room it can’t be blamed on dust from outside. This is such a shame as the design of the room is good - could just do with being way brighter.

Heavy bags and no word that reception is upstairs, the same for rooms it’s all stairs and no lift. Booked a superior room, no milk, go to ring there’s no phone in the room. No bathrobe as stated. The toilet was upon the shower. Wasn’t what I’d say was superior. Parking a major issue 5 spaces that’s it.

2nd time staying at this lovely hotel. Absolutely no complaints about this place. The rooms are spacious and well furnished including a really good fridge and even had a Dyson fan which was definitely needed as it was very warm. The restaurant and bar area are really nice and comfortable. The staff are really friendly on the bar and especially Claudine on Reception who appears to the most versatile member of staff as she Where's several hats. She is a real asset to that hotel and their sister bar over the road. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and plenty of choice plus juices. Will be definitely returning later in the year for another mini break.

The weather was very hot so I would have liked to open the windows wider than allowed. Breakfast was freshly cooked on the first day but a buffet on the pther days. The fried eggs were cold on the buffet

We visited here and we decided to order some drinks. Drinks took a while to arrive. Ordered the cavalry and there was no beef, which was understandable for a Saturday. We decided to change our order to a steak. I ordered a steak Blu and my other family ordered a steak Pink. We specifically asked for no eggs but they arrived with eggs. Staff offered mixed vegetables, from the Calvary, which was kind. Steaks were tough however good flavour. Staff extremely kind and helpful, they were also extremely apologetic. Overall, good experience, and great staff, the service may have been poorer because it was slightly busy.

Excellent service from Claudia on reception, who was a joy to assist us .Cannot fault the way we were treated and how comfortable the room was.

Very poor menu selection for coelliacs, also informed when choosing from menu the fryer was contaminated so no fish and ciphs. However the lady on reception(Claudia) spoke to the chef and they were able to produce a Gluten Free meal for my wife. Poor selection of draught ciders and bottled variery. Food to fancy and too many spicy options no straight forward type of meals.

The room decorated dark felt lovely not like being in a hotel room. The window being open to try and air the room was very much appreciated on a very hot day the fan was fantastic.

The shower tray had no non slip surface or shower mat. Could have done with a hand rail or something but I didn’t disclose my disability and that’s on me. I didn’t say anything I didn’t like to because we was only booked in for the 1 night but if we was booked for a longer stay I would have asked for something. To be handed a pice of paper on check in to phone a number which has an extension written only to find a phone line and no actual phone again very strange why bother with the paperwork.

Came for a friends birthday, on Wednesday, manager (lady) very snappy, young man behind bar was clueless yet got told been there for years!! Had been before and enjoyed it all!! Was going Saturday but not know. Had ordered a carvery but was closing only small piece of fatty gamon left so ask politely if could change my order got you have to pay, but had done or would not have token!! Ideal location with friendly and helpful staff; superb room and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in. The breakfast was superb - significantly more tasty than many hotel breakfasts.

The only minor niggle was that the water pressure in the bathroom was quite low so having a shower was a longer and cooler process.

The hotel sits on the main road atop a pub in a busy area. There isn't a lift so just be prepared. The rooms are nicely renovated and decorated, well equipped and comfortable except no A/C. Fridge, ironing board, Tea/Coffee, bathroom fully equipped too. Our Room was on the front of the hotel overlooking the street. We didn't eat there but there are many dining options, pubs and shops around.

Our biggest issue was it was very hot during our visit and the room has no A/C. We had to open the windows which would have been OK except, there were very loud pub patrons sitting outside on the patio until well past 1 AM and we were getting up early. I think the hotel needs to be aware of their overnight guests and be more considerate of that aspect. Also, there is no designated parking so be aware. We were only there one night so we managed but it did impact our stay.

There were hair clips on the floor from previous guests, wallpaper is peeling in places, would of been nicer to have a king bed as apposed to singles pushed together considering it was a suite and the price. Asked for toast with breakfast and it didn't arrive, staff ruined the surprise of the cocktails to my partner which was disappointing,

Very clean room, well presented. It was cosy as suggested. Food was great in the bar downstairs, the young waitress we had was very polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast looked ok, but we prefer a freshly cooked breakfast.

Blind was broken in the room, we are unable to let much fresh air into the room on a day with 24c weather. There are no lifts so anyone with access issues should be aware.

We really enjoyed the location of the hotel as it was situated right where everything important was such as shops, pubs and near the beach. The staff were brilliant and very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The hotel was immaculate and the room was really clean and comfortable. Bathroom was really nice and spacious.

The only issue we had was the heat in the room. Despite the curtains closed and the blinds shut the room was still rather stuffy and warm, could have done with an extra fan.
