The box hotel promised an upgrade room after l communicated my claustrophobic challenge. l paid with the under the reassurance that they will upgrade. As soon as I paid they said the promised room is no longer available. Therefore stayed in a room l did not want to. The room was okay. I paid the deposit that is refundable after checkout. It's now nearly 2 weeks and my refund is not in my account. I have chased this, to no avail. I am now going to take it further. For l consider this a scam

It’s very cozy, clean, quiet and it feels like a home. The marble toilet is amazing. The bed, the mattress and the pillows are super comfortable. The a/c system is perfect. Great job changing industrial building to a boutique hotel.

Curtains need to be solid blackouts. Please don’t use semi blackouts in the future changes like other hotels. A/c grills have to be cleaned regularly.

Most northern neighborhood of Brooklyn with a little obstacle course of a commute into Manhattan. Rooms are very cozy with wood floors, firm mattresses and fun furnishings/art work .

Unless I missed it, could not find a stairwell that was not an alarmed emergency exit.

I was given a very spacious and spotless room. The furnishings were very comfortable and the bedroom at the back end of it was quiet and peaceful, and I had a very good night’s sleep. Breakfast in the morning was of good quality and variety, my only suggestion was that they open a little bit earlier as a number of guests seemed to be very keen to get inside for it at 8am on a Tuesday - perhaps they had business stays like myself. The area around the hotel provided a lot of options for dining as well that add to the value of the stay.

The only thing I would change was having a telephone in the room as there was something missing from my room and I ended up finding a little tricky to get the attention of reception about it.

Pros: The hotel was very charming, nice, and clean. The staff were always friendly. Great price, especially compared to some of the hotels in Manhattan, but there's always tradeoffs (commute to downtown). The balcony was cute, but we only used it once. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient when we needed it. The beds were good as well - as someone who usually has back and shoulder pain, my pain was not noticable while we stayed here.

Cons: I had an incredibly severe allergic reaction to their bathroom products (hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner). Allergies are a new development for me, so I wasn't aware I would react so strongly. After 2-3 days of using their products I began to have a reaction - severely swollen face (my partner didn't recognize me), itchiness all over, and hives across all of my body. I had to go to urgent care twice, due to the continued affects, and I lost a whole vacation day due to being bedridden because of the reaction. I wish the bathroom products listed ingredients, but after digging online I confirmed the ingredients list and cross examined it with my new allergy list, and it has an active ingredient that I'm allergic to, confirming the cause and reaction. Additionally, I'm not a fan of down pillows, and that was all they had in the room. The TV was also inconsistent, some channels were not functioning/had lots of static. The location was mixed for me - fun to be outside of the tourist area, but the stair climb everyday to get the the train was an inconvenience. Overall, I would consider staying here again, but I'd have to bring my own bathroom products, and would need to confirm they don't use similar products for washing the sheets and blankets.

Right now this is our favorite hotel in NYC. It is much more interesting than a standard chain hotel and is fairly affordable for NYC.

Initial check-in employee was very pleasant.

First room had a number of issues-television did not work, bathroom faucets seemed to be reversed, the shower head fell off while taking a shower. When my husband went to see the desk attendant he said he would have to check with the manager. I went down and spoke to a different attendant who changed our room and apologized. That night there appeared to be an event and many of the attendees stayed in the street until 12:45 AM, yelling, swearing and creating a disturbance (room 23) which is the ground floor. When I mentioned this the next morning the desk associate said that wasn't possible. Lastly, while the breakfast food appeared good it was cold.

Prima indeling van kamer, goed bed, Keuken voor Amerikaanse begrippen goed uitgerust (eindelijk meer dan alleen een magnetron!) en een fantastisch ontbijt (zeker op zondag)! Bus en metro zijn op loopafstand.

De slaapbank had voor pubers net een iets beter matras mogen hebben.

This is such an adorable hotel. The location is great. Lots of yummy restaurants and cute shops. G line is a quick 10 minutes away. Enjoyable bridge walk to Queens. Comfy and quiet room. Terrific breakfast.

Staff was professional and always on site. They open the door for us. Answered questions promptly. Location is close to bus stops, subway (9 blocks away), restaurants and shopping. Super clean!! Beautiful views (2nd floor) hotel room size was perfect, coffee in room, closet and drawer space, firm bed, vending machines, gym, breakfast ($24 buffet style, or you can order à la carte) Honestly, this place was great! (Our stay was Sunday to Thursday)

The taxi is not in use. Some reviews I had read prior to staying said you could book the hotel taxi for up to 1 1/2 mile. They no longer offer this service. The bar/restaurant is only open Thursday to Sunday. Would have loved to have drinks on site at night.

Really poor standard of cleanliness. Terrible service. Beds not made, broken sofa bed and cockroaches in the room. Had to ask staff multiple times to clean the room. Complained to staff at reception who said they couldn’t do anything (they didn’t even get the room cleaned to remove the dead cockroach when we asked). I also wrote to the manager as advised by reception who didn’t respond. I’ve stayed in better youth hostels. This is not worth the 500$ price tag.

No housekeeper serviced my room on the second day, and I had a lot of recycling piling up in my trash bin. I had the sign requesting housekeeping on my door handle from 9 am to 3 pm that day, and no one noticed or came by.

Box House is still my go-to NYC Hotel, I love the rooms - they feel like living in NYC, the beds are always comfortable and the rooms are clean.

The staff at the front desk. Not friendly, not hospitable, it's like they don't understand the basics of hospitality, save 2 employees. They need maybe a training bootcamp from management. Furthermore, there was a private event on the roof the last night which was basically a night club, which made the elevators unusable and worst of all, the noise unbearable - bass reverberating across all floors. Not sure how up to code that was but thankfully theylved my room (it was still noisy).

Location convenient to commute to mid-town - 10 minute walk to subway with great Manhattan skyline view along the way.

Breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. on weekdays means I didn't get to have breakfast. Too late start for business travellers. No desk work space in rooms even though lots of room for a desk. The laundry room was under refurbishment and not usable for a while. I had to use a local laundry (10 minutes walk away) during my entire 26 day stay. I asked reception to report to management. Took a while for the receptionist to understand that just telling me there were great laundries in the area wasn't the point I was trying to make. Eventually got him to agree to report my unhappiness with lack of laundry, and lack of this being noted when booking. There was no follow-up reply. This was not listed by property when I booked. - very poor customer service on this point.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location.

First off, a shout out to Joel and Lenise, you were so helpful at the front desk in accommodating our requests so we could move rooms! I hope their manager sees this and knows they made our stay such a positive experience! The hotel is beautiful and well decorated with thoughtful details, and is walking distance to fantastic restaurants. I've stayed before and would happily stay again!The one call out I'll offer is to avoid the dual-level rooms when it's scorchingly hot, as the 2nd level where the bed is gets very warm, and is hard to cool down with the AC downstairs.

2bd apartment style room was spacious and included a kitchen. Location was within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Also nearish to LaGuardia Airport which was the point of picking it.

Room was up a flight of stairs which was not evident from the web site when the reservation was made. Bathroom was oldish, the shower was tiny, and no place to put toiletries. I tripped over a step between two hallways and injured my knee.

Crazy loud party on the rooftop - so loud it felt like it was in my room on the 3rd floor. Earplugs didn’t even help. Pounding bass until midnight. Staff offered very little recompense. I paid for a room to sleep but was awake for hours.

Avevamo prenotato due camere. una doppia e una quadrupla. Nella bellissima camera superior (per 4) non ci avevano preparato il divano letto e dopo la nostra richiesta ci hanno dato le lenzuola e chiesto di aprire noi il divano e preparare il letto. :-(

Loved the proximity to the park along the river, and the NYC ferry. Great local restaurants (check out Chiko, small excellent Chinese). Breakfast buffet very good and in a nice setting.

The room, and bed, was smaller than i expected, but the latter was my mistake as learned i did reserve a "queen" but wanted a king. For a fee, we were moved to a larger room which was lovely.

The property was beautiful and unique. The room was chic yet cozy and we are looking forward to staying here again.

Great rooms. Cute hotel. Reasonable prices. Nice and clean. It's a bit of a walk to the subway, but we didn't mind that. Good coffee shops and restaurants nearby on Manhattan Ave and Franklin.

The staff seemed a little overloaded when we got there and they were having some private event on the rooftop which was loud from our room.

I’ve stayed at The Box House for the last 11 years for business while in NY, which is pretty frequent. It’s super great and just like being at home.

I’m starting to notice that it needs some upgrades, not a whole lot, but the showers could use a non-slip mat and the shower heads should be replaced. Post covid, they’ve cheapened up a few things. The lobby used to have a great coffee service and a nice restaurant. The coffee was always a local roaster, now they use that Crown coffee, not good! No more actual mugs either. Looks like they are needing to upgrade a bit.

Had to ask for more towels, tissues; failed to empty ice bucket or bathroom trash on several occasions. Loud hallways at night and early morning, even with privacy tag on door…some people have no respect. Room advertises with balcony but fails to mention how to access…which was tricky. Would have appreciated some in room information of area, how to access TV channels, numbers to call with questions.

We had a toproom, with a great setup (as in the pictures). Unfortunately the view wasn't on the other side to see Manhattan. Room was super clean, personnel (cleaning and reception) was really polite and helpful, only the people at the breakfast area were like "uninterested".

O espaço é moderno e limpo. O café da manha é de boa qualidade. A vizinhança é segura e possui vários mercados e restaurantes. Além disso, esta relativamente próximo a estação do metrô e do ferro.

As cortinas não bloqueiam totalmente a luz porque estão divididas em três partes sem velcro para uni-las de forma adequada. Os colchões também podiam ser mais confortáveis. Parecem muito usados ou reciclados.

The room was amazing, alot of room and we loved the balcony. The staff was very helpful and kind. We love the location, our kids live in Long Island City and we come a couple times a year and always stay at this hotel. My husband enjoys the gym. The connecting restuarant and bar are great! Breakfast superb.

This place is amazing. Such a cool vibe. There was a small mixup with my booking, and Angelina at the hotel went above and beyond to make my stay special with a great room upgrade and late check out. What was supposed to just be a place to crash for the night turned into a nice little getaway. Thanks Angelina!

Si poteva mangiare in camera ma non c'erano sedie per quattro persone. Il bagno era grande e la doccia favolosa ma gli arredi insufficienti. In quattro persone era difficile sistemare le proprie cose.
