I loved the design style and thought the room was great. Facilities in the room were good
I thought the breakfast was poor
Nothing
No insulation in the room, noise from outside and room above was overwhelming. The bread/bagels/pastry at the $19 breakfast was fresh a week ago. The property is in an industrial area.
It’s next to my daughters apartment I like the rooms and how convenient it is to get coffee in the morning in the hotel and how close it is to restaurants etc . The staff is great! I love that they give you water
I like everything. I do think it would be helpful if there was another mirror in the room other than the bathroom for two people to get ready. Simple fix.
Staff
Street noise and noise between floors
No restaurant nearby. Some choices about half a mile walk away. Very busy one-way street. No parking--only street parking, so completely by luck.
Staff was courteous
Couldn’t sleep because of the noise coming from our room on Norman Avenue. Traffic noise. Garbage pickup noise and the guests on the floor above us could be heard even when they walked in their room. Bad sound proofing. Horrible floor noise.
Huge rooms; super clean; comfortable bed
It is slightly out of the way from public transportation
An impressive hotel with exceptional staff who were attentive right from the beginning. Having stayed in Manhattan last year coming to the quieter district of Brooklyn was a wonderful choice. The hotel is a clean, modern hotel with pieces of art adorning the walls, fresh flowers and a welcome from all the staff on reception. The theme of the hotel was carried on into our room which was large, spacious and complete with everything we would need from toiletries, hairdryer, kettle, food, fridge, sofa and wonderful linens and towels.
There really wasn't anything to not like.
The staff were super friendly, couldn't do enough to help. Always there with bottled water. Rooms were large and comfortable
The breakfast was poor. Loads of pastrys but little else. Needs a fresh fruit salad and something cooked. Very disappointing. We ate out 2 of our 4 days.
The breakfast was ok but does need improvements.
the space of the room
the different lay outs of the rooms
room was wonderful: large and spacious. staff was super helpful and friendly. location was mostly ok: a bit on the industrial side, neighborhood wise, but easily ride-shared. rooms were clean, breakfast was continental and sufficient (i.e., there was coffee).
they can't help it, but the side streets go late and get busy early. party animals, garbage truck pickup, buses starting out, typical NYC street noise. windows do open, but not sure you want to do that...Tell your ride share driver to drop you at the corner of Norman and Henry to avoid the one-way streets.
The breakfast needs upgrade
Excellent rooms and service.
Best of you have a car
Sehr freundliches Personal, immer hilfsbereit.
It was too late and the items were not enough
Staff was great, room was big.
The sofa bed was loud, the regular bed was too small for two, and the location is a bit far away from amenities
Nice location , good value for money , Greenpoint , close to Nassau Ave with the park. . Good neighbourhood, nice bars and restaurants. You need a cap to get to Manhattan.could invest in a new air condition , beside that all very nice
Air conditioner far too loud
The location is great, and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Our room was on the first floor, and it was noisy. Next time, we’ll stay on the second floor.
Rooms were big staff was wonderful Breakfast was basic but sufficient to get the day started. Location to the under the K venue was spectacular.
Underwhelming service, didn't meet expectations. Potential issues with hotel's structural integrity.
Alles behalve het ontbijt.
De keuze en kwaliteit van het ontbijt. Iets verder van de metro.
Disliked · Staff: I received a call on the room phone from the front desk associate (male voice) at 7am the morning after my son's wedding - Sunday, August 23. The person said, in a demanding manner, "due to inclement weather we must inspect the room immediately for water leaks." I sent this person to where he belongs and hung up on him. I was hoping to get some sleep after a busy night, and this irresponsible person woke my wife and me up and didn't even apologize for it. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! Room: small and claustrophobic room in the basement, for the same rate as regular rooms on the 3rd floor. If the basement rooms have water leakage issues, they should not be assigned to guests until the issues are properly rectified. If there are larger issues with water compromising the structural integrity of the building that require immediate inspections of the basement rooms occupied by paying guests, the matter should be referred to the NYC Department of Buildings for a thorough inspection and evaluation of conditions. Happy to help initiate the NYC Department of Buildings inquiry on behalf of building management. Overall experience: not good. I had 5 room reservations just in my name - for my friends and family, and in total, the overall wedding party booked 12+ rooms at the hotel, giving the hotel a lot of business. I'd think the hotel staff's attitude and attention to their guests was not adequate, and the waterproofing condition of the basement and the overall building raises concerns. Something the General Manager should address, and soon.

The loft suite room had a good deal of space. It was in a safe neighbourhood. The people working at the front desk were pleasant.
The pictures of the loft suite showed two work stations (a desk and chair in the bed area and a desk and chair in the couch area) which was great as we were both planning on working from there. But the loft suite had only one desk area (it was by the couch and the area in the bedroom simply had a dresser) so we could only work comfortably one at a time. The prints in the room were nice, but the hand-drawn marker drawings cheapened the space. The room was loud since the rooms are off the common-areas you can hear everything outside the door so it is good to have ear plugs.
Check in and check out were easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Ample towels. A/C easy to adjust. Tub is a nice feature.
Another mirror or two in the room would have been nice. Traffic (trucks) at night were a bit noisy (we were on the 2nd floor). Breakfast was a bit limited. Bar was not operational.
We absolutely loved the vibe and overall appearance of the hotel and bedrooms.
A microwave would have been nice, but it didn't ruin anything.
Table space in room
This was the loudest hotel I have ever been in. I could not sleep. Banging noises all night. Terrible bed
Recommended if you are staying in Greenpoint, but convenient to other parts of Brooklyn. Staff is courteous and helpful. Chis at the front desk was especially helpful. Many of the rooms are very large, including the one we stayed in which had a separate seating area and full kitchen. The rooms are well appointed, very clean, and well maintained. Rate includes continental breakfast which saves you another $20 - $30 per person. The property itself is on the edge of a warehouse district, but completely safe and only minutes from the main shopping areas. You probably will default to Uber/Lyft for transportation, but subway is within walking distance. Fairly easy access to Manhattan, LaGuardia, and JFK. I would happily stay here again.
Beautiful design and perfect location for me
The location of my room. I discovered that being on the 2nd floor and having someone above is not good. There is no insulation/sound proofing. The guest above me was extremely loud and it was throughout the night and early morning.
Location ok, room fine except AC and and fan so noisy, and breakfast terrible
Breakfast and noisy AC in room. Breakfast worst ever (and in travel a lot)
The design
This time even though we paid for junior suite, they gave us a various small room on the basement next to the laundry room. When I complain, that’s not a junior suite they said that’s the only thing they have.
The staff was always friendly and willing to help
nothing
Great stay and great neighborhood! Lots of on street parking and quiet. Have stayed here in the past and had a great experience as well. Clean and the staff is friendly. My only gripe with my stay this time around was that we arrived at the hotel at 2pm and checkin wasn't till 3 and even though our room was ready we had to pay an additional 50 dollars for “early checkin”. Also breakfast and coffee is an additional 19 dollars a person which seems a bit expensive for what they offer. I know NYC is getting more expensive nowadays but I felt being a smaller local chain they would accommodate an hour early check in seeing that our room was waiting for us. Just beware to be up charged and common courtesy isn't common here.
Tolles Zimmer, gross, komfortables Bett.
Friendly and helpful staff, spacious rooms, and good facilities.
Breakfast is very basic, the subway station is about 15min walk.
staff were wonderful!
Staff, location
Pleasant, comfortable
The noise!! Every morning at 4:30 am, trucks backing up, making loud beeping noises. No sleep here at this place!
I like staying on the main floor I requested the main floor when booking and when I checked in, I got a room on the main floor
everything was great
The interactions I had with the majority of a staff were pleasant and they were helpful when I wanted to move room.
This is the only 4-star hotel I have stayed at where there it seems like you are bothering the staff to ask for help with luggage or even when they offer. After a long flight behind you or ahead this is not what you are looking for in a hotel. One staff member spoke to me like a child and not a paying customer when I went to get my own luggage from the luggage storage (which by the way is unlocked and unsafe for everyone storing their luggage in there) - his tone was so unpleasant that another staff member had to come in to check him. About an hour before he hadn’t come up/sent someone up to help me with my luggage when asked and by this point was tired of waiting for someone who clearly had not wanted to help hours before. If the staff behind the desk do not want to help with luggage for the price they are charging, The Henry Norman Hotel need to hire other help or doormen as I’ve experienced at other hotels. I’m tired of these experiences travelling solo as a young Black woman - when I know for a fact the employee in question would never speak to an older/white/seemingly wealthy or someone traditionally associated with status in the same way. He would have merely told them to sit down while he got their luggage for them. I’ve tried to contact the hotel on multiple occasions about this incident and haven’t heard back so now I’m now posting it here.
Śniadanie - mało różnorodne, w większości niesmaczne.
Good facilities
Breakfast was served with disposable plates and glasses
Beautiful hotel! Staff was wonderful! Room was very large, outdoor patio connected to the room.
Nothing!
This hotel was in a quiet area. Very clean and beautiful room.
Loved everything.
Great helpful staff with good recommendations for dining
Nothing
Everything. I wish I had more time there. The 2 young desk men were so kind. And kudos to housekeeping. . Hope to stay again.
The location and staff
Squeaky patio door and noisy guests that interrupted our sleep and rest at night pass midnight till ~3 am - two nights of the three nights we stayed there.
Nichts.
Nice hotel in Brooklyn. We stayed in the penthouse suite. A little pricey but worth it. Great view of Manhattan. Beds are comfy. Good mini bar. courteous staff. Good location near parks, bodegas etc. Quiet, clean, Courteous staff Downside is no bar or restaurant. There is a breakfast buffet although they charge for it and it was average
The breakfast and the industrial area
Walking distance to cafes and shops in Greenpoint.
Gym was tiny, breakfast was horrible, paper cups instead of real mugs in the room, flies everywhere in the room and hallway. Just overall didn’t feel clean and should’ve mentioned room was in the basement.
Hotel room
No room service
We booked two rooms. One had bed bugs and one had fleas. The staff was resistant and not helpful. We had to convince them to find an extra room at another hotel since there were no other rooms available at the Norman.
The staff was wonderful it was clean
Staff was helpful and quite pleasant
The hotel is beautiful and spotless. Very easy to get around.
Great boutique hotel. Clean and comfy. Staff was great. Room was quite spacious for Brooklyn and the balcony was also nice and large.
Late checkout is a pretty big charge. $75 for one extra hour is crazy.
Quiet and spacious hotel. A five minute walk to restaurants, and a delicious bakery. Hotel is located in a quiet area off the busy streets. Our room was very clean, spacious, with a queen bed, and a separate sitting area with a sofa sleeper. Two televisions in the room. A well stocked mini-bar and snacks, if needed. The common patio area had great views of Manhattan Skyline. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Breakfast was a continental style. Only a 10 minute walk to the subway, with one connection to JFK airport, or to downtown Manhattan.
Friendly staff and uplifting decor
We stayed in two different rooms. The first stay we were disturbed throughout the night by loud street noises, We were less comfortable sleeping due to the mattresses and pillows provided in the roof top suit. Coffee and Breakfast are made available at 8;00. When traveling it is a bit late to wait until 8:00 for coffee. 7:30 would seem more convenient.
Sehr cooles, besonderes Konzept. „Boutique“ passt hier wirklich sehr zu 👍
In den USA ist’s halt immer das Frühstück
Room was spacious and nice areas to hang out.
Nothing.
Staff, design, comfort
Price of room + breakfast
I've stayed at Henry Norman Hotel on numerous occasions and always loved going back. Everything is very clean (shoutout to amazing housekeeping staff), and I love how unique each room is. The area is also easily accessible to great food.
I had emailed the hotel requesting late check out as it was my birthday so I wanted some time to just rest after a night out. In my email I mentioned I had visited multiple times and always loved my stay. I received a call soon after to confirm the time I wanted to checkout and the cost. I accepted, but really was hoping there would be a courtesy late checkout without the fee as I was a returning customer and was staying for my birthday. Upon arrival (day of my birthday) I noticed the checkin was located in a different location which was fine. But there was no acknowledgement or Happy Birthday, even as I showed my ID. As someone who worked in customer service for an airline for many years, I know it can be a really tough job. Customers can be rude, the hours can seem endless. But what I learned was that even the little things count in making sure someone's experience is pleasant. I didn't have that while checking in with my partner. It was a cold exchange. When we asked for quick food delivery reccs as we had a show to catch, there was a brief pause from the person checking us in, so we looked at the other employee for advice. They simply said that the most recent delivery to a guest at the hotel seemed good. And that was it. The penthouse was not worth the price at all. During our last stay we were in the loft which felt so much more cozier, spacious, and romantic. Having the bed so close to the door felt like a basic room. Also it would be dope if the hotel upgraded with an option for King sized beds. I'm sad to say I won't be booking another stay at Henry Norman based off of this most recent experience. Sofia
Super friendly front desk, spacious rooms. Excellent hotel in an excellent location.
Staff was super friendly. Hotel is adorable and room was comfy.
It’s sort of on the very edge of the cute part of town. Surrounded by industrial parks.
Close to what I needed it for. It was clean and staff was always helpful.
Nothing I stayed there before
This is our third stay at the Henry Norman. We love this charming and so very convenient hotel to our daughter in Brooklyn. You will find every room different. Four storied high ceilings in bedrooms and exceptionally home like!
Very friendly and competent staff, nice big airy and bright room, plenty of towels, complimentary water bottles, unique hotel with soul, good breakfast, nice balcony viewpoint, strong A/C, high-speed internet
Super cute suites. Great location, safe, helpful staff and we would definitely stay here again!!
I don’t have any complaints.
The
The rooms could have used a Nespresso coffee machine in lieu of Mr coffee. The wood floors could have benefited from more rugs - it was loud when someone moved a chair or walked with shoes.
Friendly staff, clean hotel
Breakfast was very deceiving, AC extremely loud couldn’t sleep
Unique hotel. Wonderful room, airy, good coffee facilities in the room. Comfortable bed and new TVs
The continental breakfast is weak.
The Henry Norman is our home-away-from-home when we go to Brooklyn. Our son lives in Greenpoint so this is always the perfect location for our needs, plus we can ways find street parking. The staff are great, rooms comfortable with thoughtful amenities, kitchenettes, balconies with amazing views of the Manhattan skyline.
...can't think of anything...the breakfast is nothing to write home about but I think it's included in the price so whatever...
Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Great location.
Breakfast was ok. Missed having an espresso drink option.
Loved our stay! Hotel was great, staff very friendly and helpful. Spacious room with comfy bed. Breakfast was fair. Will definitely return!
We always check for bedbugs. The bedframe could have been a bit cleaner. Buth thankfully like always, not a single bedbug or evidence thereof was seen!
we would rather nothave to pay for breakfast, which is mediocre.
Really helpful staff
Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Great Neighbourhood, a very artistic touch in every item in the room a very special place.
My check-in was a little rocky
It was so charming! We loved the overall aesthetic, the stain glass windows and cool light fixtures in the lobby and the high ceilings in our room made it feel so spacious!
We didn’t like that there was an “inactive bar” in the lobby. There is a pretty big bar there, but it’s only for show… would be such a great idea to get that working as a real bar, I think guests would really appreciate that. Also, the long pillows in the room are SO uncomfortable. The bed is so comfy and the pillows gave me such a bad headache, they should look to update them a bit!
Very cool decor, room was nice, bed slept great . Would stay there again Would recommend .
Only mirror was in the bathroom. A full length mirror would be nice. And a couple hooks to hang items the bathroom .
The hotel was beautiful, the old hotel cars were soo fun and cool to look at. I like the old Hollywood esc to it. Staff were so kind and helpful. The room we booked was beautiful and spacious. The full kitchen was lovely, the mini bar and a lovely selection of snacks and drinks. Staff alerted and helped try to accommodate early check in.
My group and I came states away and had called and contacted through booking.com messages and spoke to multiple hotel staff who said early check in may be available for free if room was clean , or pay a fee to expedite the service. We got there around 12:30Pm and asked and they said no that all the rooms were booked night prior and could not do early check in. So we walked around in hopes closer to the time would be good. There’s not really anything close close by, 15 min walk medicore restaraunts. Asked about early check in again 2:30 and they said not yet. Once checked in , they accidentally checked in the wrong person and gave us the wrong room when we had a big room. But fixed it and got us into our room.
Absolutely Loved!
Front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Chris and Prince.
We did not get the category of room we reserved. We got a lower category room but no refund for the difference. Breakfast offering needs improvement big time.
Staff and comfort
Will return once construction is completed so as to enjoy views without obstruction and cranes
Whimsical theme, excellent staff very clean facility
Parking was a nightmare
Close proximity to our family Chris at the desk was very helpful—we were very tired and wanted a quiet area of the hotel
Wish you had a rewards program! We always stay here when we’re visiting Greenpoint family
Massive room, including kitchenette & sitting area. Really nice decor! Super comfortable bed and pillows. Staff very friendly clean.
Breakfast was meh. Fresh cooked oatmeal, more fruit variety and espresso drinks would have been greatly appreciated! Property was a nice walk from busier areas; we liked this but might be an issue for some
