Great
The location and the room, and especially the breakfast
All OK
Very clean, warm welcome breakfast was spot on
Well located close to town centre in a quiet area easy acc as to the top of town and down to seafront
very good breakfast staff very good very clean and well maintained good location
nothing
Staff
It’s tired My room was by the hot water boiler - noisy
Breakfast; tea/coffee facilities in the room; dinner; location - easy access from the station and to most facilities. including walk to Anne Bronte's grave.
The hotel has stopped offering "Scarborough Fair" beer on draught in the bar. I had to buy bottles. The downstairs bar was too noisy; no fridge in the room for chilling water etc.
The hot breakfast options.
The bed was rather soft.
Located in an impressive crescent. Friendly staff (who seemed stretched a bit too thin on a busy weekend).
Our room rate for a twin room for one night was £235. We feel that value for money was poor. The room itself was small and tired (no space for a bedside table on one side and beds right next to each other). Also, no lamps (had to get out of bed to switch off the light); moreover, there was no way to lock the door from the inside or safety chain (we were two females). The breakfast was cold and tasteless - bitter coffee, rubbery scrambled egg and bland eggs Benedict.
Lovely surroundings. Gorgeous staff who would do anything to help. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast exceptional
Nothing
great choice, well cooked and presented. excellent service.
Location was excellent. Hospitality exceptional. The food was lovely. Always plentiful
Carpet could of been cleaned lots of stains cleaning staff should be made aware
Fantastic breakfast. Really couldn't be bettered. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is fine.
We were on the third floor. There is some kind of bar on the basement level, blaring music all evening. Once in your room, you can hear a constant boom, boom, boom. Don't get me wrong, I love music, the louder the better, but not on the third floor at night.
We didn’t stay at the hotel but had a drink in the lounge bar. Lovely decor and also as a bonus for us had a live entertainer who I have to say was one of the best solo artists we’ve seen in a long time. Only let down was the toilets need a good over haul to big them Up to the standards of a very well presented bar.
Very clean and lovely staff
Nothing
Beautiful corner room well decorated, clean and welcoming exceptionally good breakfast
Nothing
Extremely clean and spacious room . Excellent food and drink. Most of all wonderful staff that made the stay at this lovely hotel very enjoyable.
Everything.
Going home.
Decent location. Nice breakfast and staff were fab
A bit dated and a lot of money for a night in Scarborough. But tbf all accommodation here is overpriced.
Stayed here for 1 night in August after seeing live music at the open air theater. Clean and spacious room (could do with an update though), beautiful breakfast and very friendly staff. Only 1 major downside was the loud base off the music in the basement that shook the full building (and our drinks) when we returned from our live music event. This continued until 1am, which was inconvenient after a long day and walk back from the theater. When this was raised with the hotel, by another member of our party, the email back from the hotel was quite rude stating we should have enjoyed the music considering we were there for a music event ourselves. Kind of not how it works really.
Very friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room which you don’t always find with a single room. Fabulous cooked breakfast. Close to station
Room was very warm even with the window open.
Ideal Situation, the Staff were amazing ,straight away on arrival , couldn’t do enough, the Bedroom was just Lovely , could see the sea and Castle , and Breakfast for Gorgeous
Location and service excellent as was breakfast. Reasonably priced and far better than expected.
Rooms, bathroom were perhaps a bit tired but for an overnight stay, at the price we were very satisfied
Breakfast really good and staff are great. The room was clean although could do with updating and the carpet quite dirty and badly fitting.
Wish I’d been informed in enough time to change booking as the hotel had very loud booming music on until 1 am ie a month prior. I feel the hotel would have known for quite a while this was happening. I was informed 2 days before the stay and after I’d been billed. I was only informed about when the music would stop when my daughter specifically asked the question. That info wasn’t volunteered. Items in my room were vibrating due to the loudness of the music and it was impossible to sleep until it had stopped. I didn’t want a 1am bedtime imposed on me. Really infuriating. The bed in the single room was far too soft to get decent sleep. And to add, the fire alarm kept going off. The next morning, no apologies for this. This hotel is animal friendly. One guest arrived at the breakfast room with 2 dogs NOT on leads and the dogs then ran around the main area where other guests were eating, then another guest had his dog on a lead but he wasn’t holding it and his dog then proceeded to but his nose up on the food table. My daughter actually said ‘glad I’ve eaten’.
Beautiful hotel, the room was elegant and comfortable. The staff were all helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a great location in Scarborough.
That I was only staying 1 night, the whole experience was brilliant
The location was good, the staff were lovely and polite, the Scarborough room which we stayed in had lots of potential
Our room could be amazing, however a few bits really let it down, extensions running along the floor, a broken fan on the floor, when we checked and went to our room the cleaner had only just arrived to clean the room, the carpet didn’t get vacuumed
Staff were lovely, great service, welcoming and really helpful. The location is great and plenty of parking facilities around.
Bathroom ceiling had a fair bit of damp coming through. Noise levels from an event in the lounge downstairs was very high but they did send an email in advance with warning about potential noise a couple of days before the stay.
Nice room [upgraded to double]; friendly helpful staff and great food selection at breakfast.
Due to the warm weather the window had to be kept open and this was propped open by a piece of wood. The open window overlooked the main street and beer garden so a little noisy till early hours. This is only a minor gripe.
早餐服务有一个年纪大的女员工很专业,特别和蔼可亲和善良,可惜我不知道她名字.
整栋楼需要翻新 噪音大 楼下酒吧烟囱冒烟搞的到处烟味
Beautiful hotel very friendly staff and gorgeous breakfast would definitely stay again however music was crazy load on a evening was like a nightclub was beneath us which went on until late
Grand hotel, great location, first class breakfast.
We paid £170 for one night which I thought was overpriced. The room was tired (the duvet needs replacing as it’s very old and flat). The view out the window was hideous. We looked onto a bag full of rubbish and pigeons/pigeon droppings.
Central location, but load music on a night and surrounded by seagulls
The cleanliness
Great room, lovely service.

Another fantastic stay in this hotel, from the moment you step in the door, you are made to feel welcome. Ou room was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and had plenty of storage space. We had breakfast and evening meals, both of which had plenty of choice and were of fantastic quality, as well as being served with a smile. This hotel is far enough from the town centre, to avoid night time noise and close enough to be called centrally located. There were 2 bars, the public bar had entertainment whilst we were there. Any businesses greatest asset is its staff and all the staff at the crescent are professional, pleasant, polite and are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure that you have a fantastic experience. Thanks again for looking after us.
Hotel was nice, room was spacious and clean. However the breakfast service only lasted from 07:30am to 09:30am which I thought was quite short and inconvenient if you’d had a late night prior, also the buffet table was quite small and not a large selection. The room also just looked onto a brick wall and quite a lot of street noise too. Could’ve been better for £170 a night.
The breakfast and meals were varied with excellent quality. The rooms were spacious comfortable and well equipped. The hotel is centrally located, yet street parking was easily found at £8 per day. But by far the greatest asset of this hotel were the staff, each of which made the stay exceptional, they were friendly, professional and went that extra yard to be helpful. Thanks to everyone for making our stay special.
Everything was absolutely fantastic
this is 2nd time here nice .
Virtually everything!
Bathroom fittings ( excluding all sanitary fittings!) not robust enough!
Very spacious room. We stayed in the longsborough. Great location for both the town and the tram to the beach.
Nothing
This is a lovely hotel with helpful professional staff, we had a very comfortable stay and would like to return, we only stayed one night but could have stayed for a week. The hotel is in a great location too, near to the train station and town centre and not far to the beach.
I will definitely attend another event at the Crescent. It felt so good to dress up for The Supper Club (seats 35). Where cocktails, canapés and entertainment 1920s style were enjoyed. Then into the dining room for 3 courses of fine dining at its very best, followed by coffee and mints, whilst relaxing and listening to the beautiful voice of Voce Bella and the fantastic keyboard playing of Mark Gordon. What is there not to love.❤️ Congratulations to the Chef and waiters 🙌🏻 working on that night making and serving the food to our tables with perfection 🙏
If it's Scarborough it has to be The Crescent- had a 2 day break as usual all the staff were friendly welcoming and did a brilliant job. We attended the jazz supper evening- it was a lovely night. Thank you to everyone for a lovely break.
What an absolutely fantastic evening at The Crescent Hotel's very first jazz Supper Club! Beautiful venue, set out so thoughtfully for the event. Gorgeous food served by attentive professional staff. Freshly made cocktail, canapés, three courses with coffee and mints to follow. And, of course, last but very much not least - fantastic jazz (and even a little bit of exquisite opera!) from the super talented Voce Bella and Mark Gordon! Absolutely cracking night - already looking forward to the next one! Thanks to all concerned xxx
Absolutely fantastic evening, 5 of us went for the Jazz supper only £60 a head. The food was amazing and the perfect live music. On arrival a cocktail and canapés, followed by a 3 course meal that was wonderful. No pre cooked rubbish here. I didn't want the night to end. Can't wait until they have another night. Nadine your staff were great and so attentive. If I could have given 10 stars I would have
What a wonderful seaside hotel- Friendly helpful staff , very clean . I had a single room so was expecting a cupboard but was as big as many twin rooms I’ve stayed in - I hate showers so was delighted it had a bath - There was also the welcome addition of a ceiling fan . I liked this hotel for numerous reasons but must say that the breakfast included in the price was outstanding - Thank you for a wonderful stay
It was near to all the places I wanted too be
It was a little run down
The staff were excellent, especially the young lady who checked us in. The bar had a great vibe and the barman was excellent. The breakfast was pretty good.
I understand it’s an old building which must be difficult to maintain but it has the appearances of being quite tired. We were in the Scarborough room which is a lovely big characterful room with a huge bathroom but had some things that could easily be remedied. There was no plug for the hairdryer near the mirror or the dressing table. It was impossible to draw the curtains properly. The bathroom seemed well equipped but there was not enough pressure for the shower and when I tried the jets in the bath, the water stank. There was nothing to put things on by the hand basin. Personally, I’d take that bath out and put an ordinary one in and have a pump for the shower. Considering the high price, £220 for one night, I would have expected soap etc by the bath.
Proximity to the centre of Scarborough
Service lacking, bed small, limited breakfast choice
All The staff were extremely friendly room spacious clean and comfortable food was excellent evening meal superb loved Our stay will be back again
Nothing
Lovely staff
Bed and pillows a little firm for me
The staff were kind and considerate and very friendly. They welcomed us and provided all essential information on arrival. We received an unexpected upgrade which was lovely and something that has never happened to us before. The breakfast was delicious and the service was exceptional. The staff really are fantastic and we received the perfect poached eggs!
The mattress in our room was so uncomfortable. It was really hard and uncomfortable and I suspect it needed replacing. The lovely roll top bath leaked underneath and left a large puddle of water.
Great location. Easily reached from the train station. Clean and comfortable rooms and a lovely breakfast.
Nothing.
I have recently spent an annual week's holiday at Scarborough's Crescent Hotel which I have repeated for 12 years and I cannot praise it highly enough. The traditional family hotel is spotlessly clean and filled with period charm, the catering provision is excellent both at breakfast and evenings whilst the entire staff attention to customers is faultless throughout the stay. I could not imagine wishing to stay anywhere else. Richard Vernon July 26.⁸
Lovely choice at breakfast
The staff were so welcoming and interested in our stay.
Friendly and obliging staff good sized room very comfortable.
A small fridge would be a nice addition to the room and a tea towel just to wash & dry the cups after use
The room was spacious and welcoming. The staff were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and served timely. Lovely stay overall
Nothing to dislike. Bar area was starting to look tired could maybe done with a revamp on fixtures and fittings.
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Tastefully decorated. Food well cooked and presented.
Would have preferred a walk un shower, rather than one over the bath.
Breakfast is fabulous, cooked to order and red hot on arrival, very good quality products Room was clean and decorated tastefully, unfortunately it was very hot but then it was 35 degrees outside so no wonder!
nothing
The room was clean, bed very comfortable and great location.
The location
Lift smelled of smoke
Very comfortable
Slight attention to detail on cleaning dusty in places and cobwebs x
Morag in the breakfast room is lovely. The hotel is in a great location. The room was comfortable and well appointed. On the whole we enjoyed our stay
We had a number of issues. The first room they gave us had an obscure d view of heating vents out a tiny window. The photos on the booking showed either 2 windows or a big window. Also it specifically said view. Chris was lovely about this and said due to being fully booked he could move us tomorrow. We were happy with this. However when I went to ask for shower gel ( 3 times we were told there was a dispenser on the wall which there wasn't) the manager appeared and said i hear you are not happy with your room. We don't want to false advertise. First we never did or would say that and secondly I was asking about shower gel! She then tried to say they don't advertise views and questioned where I had booked and where I had read a view etc. I had to show her my booking. Her tone was unfortunate and she just wouldn't let it go also i didnt appreacite the repeated use of you are accusing us of false advertising.. I wasn't going to bring it up at all. The hotel is woefully understaffed as you have to hand your key in. Upon return I had to ring the bell and wait for the poor person serving dinner to come and get it. The same at breakfast, hardly any cold buffet, no cutlery, no glasses etc. This is not the staffs fault as they are doing their best. The lady who we got our key from each night had a nice wee chat with us.
Excellent location and arrived early so parking was good. Unfortunately the outside bar had some very loud music (i thought i was back in a nightclub in the nineties) which was right under our bedroom window and we were advised would be finishing at 7pm ..some 4 hours later. After realising I wouldnt get a snooze with that going on, my husband mentioned it to reception again and by which time a wonderful lady called Ashleigh had come on shift..we were offered a room change immediately. She was on shift the 2 evenings we were there, on reception, serving in the bar and the restaurant ..a true Mary Poppins and nothing was too much trouble. Truly exceptional 👏 The room was lovely, the reception rooms were beautifully furnished, and dinner in the restaurant was excellent..highly recommend it! Breakfast reception lady was also lovely and breakfast choices were good. If you want to get away from chain hotels and take a trip back in time (apart from that temporary outside noise violation ) then is the hotel for you. I would definitely return..
Music from outside bar..not in keeping with the feel of the hotel The room and corridors were extremely hot ( I know we are having exceptionally warm weather currently) but good fans in rooms as standard would help. We asked for one but it doubled as a heater and so not the best for quiet cooling. It didnt help that only one of the sash windows opened. Also no fridge in the room..its a nice touch having a small one to just put your milk in (much needed if you drink as much tea as I do!)
Good location
Very hot room and the window only opened slightly
Just stayed at the Crescent Hotel in Scarborough (after being let down badly by the Central Hotel and not informed by Booking.com that my booking had been cancelled until I was actually in Scarborough) The Crescent Hotel saved the day and sorted us out. The staff were brilliant, especially Margot-such a wonderful lady. Our room was fabulous, a corner room (22) large and bright and quiet. Thank you for de-stressing me and I would highly recommend this hotel.
Staff and breakfast were spot in even had a pizza in bar really good and priced well 😋 👌
Location for ooen air theatre 20min walk 🚶♀️ 👌
Everything food good atmosphere good liked the downstairs bar disco daytime band at night great but didnt disturb people who werent interested loved it im 71 by the way
Nothing
Location, it has its own entertainment, bar/restaurant, staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. Items in the room such as Iron with full size board and hairdryer.
I would just say, for the price I would have expected things such as holes in the walls down in the dining area to have been filled. Its a bit of filler, sanding and touch up with paint. Doesnt take much. Thats down to the owner though, no reflection at all on the lovely, hardworking staff who were on shift.
The whole stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. All the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. The breakfast which was included in the price was excellent with a buffet and a wide choice menu for a freshly cooked breakfast. The service was swift. The whole experience had a personal touch where you were made to feel very welcome. We will certainly stay at this hotel on our next visit to Scarborough.
There was nothing that I didn't like about the hotel.
Great location , beautiful building and fantastic staff. The bar attached is fantastic too.
The room was really hot but it was a heatwave!
Anyone wanting a good hotel in Scarborough, The Crescent is a period property, centrally located, close to beach, shopping & bars. It was a busy weekend, due to armed forces day & 2 concerts at the open air theatre. Parking wasn’t an issue. On arrival, we easily parked on the crescent & had a permit from the hotel for £8 per day. We stayed for 2 nights in the Belvoir room, large bedroom with floor to ceiling windows & a set of french doors opening to a small railed balcony overlooking the crescent gardens. Large bathroom with shuttered floor to ceiling windows for privacy if required. We used the public bar one afternoon & also the hotel bar for a good night tipple on returning late from the theatre. Breakfast delicious 😋 & friendly attentive staff too 😍 We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again & it would certainly be our first choice if we were ever return to Scarborough!
Lovely hotel with very helpful & pleasant staff. Rooms are beautiful & the breakfast the next morning was great.
The staff were lovely, so friendly and really made us feel welcome. They were especially helpful considering we were staying with a 5 month old and had additional requirements. Breakfast was extremely tasty too
The most welcoming and accommodating staff. I have some dietary needs and my breakfast was served with some adjustments that made it perfect. Thank you for the hospitality!
Nothing. I was staying for only one night and everything I needed was a good night sleep and some breakfast.
Was lovely place good food lovey staff good entertainment
Rooms where realy nice
Breakfast and service was excellent, great ingredients and a good choice
Nothing really everything was excellent
Spacious room, great breakfast and fabulous location.
The hotel was great, no issues.
Arrival - staff very friendly and accommodating Facilities good with the room Breakfast was nice would have liked fresh fruit as a choice but everything else was nice and good service. Rooms was nice and quiet
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable as was the pillows I thought for the price of £250 per night there would have been some small shampoo, conditioner etc
Location great. Reception staff very welcoming.
Very musty smell in stairs and in room. Very dated and antiquated (when you get past reception and initial staircase)
The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous.
Our corner room was located overlooking quite a busy road on one side which was a little noisy.
Uitstekend ontbijt, ruime kamer met goede faciliteiten. Prima bed. Zowel bad als douche. Vriendelijk personeel.
Van de twee ramen in de kamer kon er maar één een klein stukje open.
A great place where it does what we expect. Brilliant.
Lovely hotel in a great position for shops and bars Lovely staff and we got parked outside
Nothing everything was great 👍
Very pleasant helpful staff on our arrival . Room was lovely and spacious. Very good breakfast daily .
The manager Ashleigh was a wonder. She went above and beyond to ensure everyone enjoyed their stay.
The front entrance steps could have been more disabled friendly.
The hotel was lovely, the room I stayed in was older(decor not my taste and not for me) however it was nice. The bathroom Was very clean and comfortable using the bath with hot tub vibes this was lovely alongside the shower.
I personally didn’t like the decor or arrangements of furniture ( however this is an older hotel with old features of the building) this is personally not my type and my preference. But could not fault anything else.
Great Location, beautiful building, amazing staff, fantastic breakfast with plenty of choices. Super Comfy beds.. plenty hot water and Dog friendly.
Nothing
Absolutely lovely hotel always stay there when we can
Very comfortable and central, with lovely staff
We are regulars at this hotel staying for 2 nights each in time. It is in a great position and the staff and service are both excellent. Breakfasts are varied. Our evening meal this time was also excellent and they offer bar meals in the bar downstairs if you don't want something too filling.
It was very good
All of it
Everything
Staff were amazing Chris works so hard and always smiling. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms spacious and clean. Lovely towels.
Shower head blocked with limescale and quilt very thin
Lovely staff and excellent food too. Wonderful value
It is a little tired but the atmosphere is delightful
Nice and homely
Was a little cold at night due to heating being off
We are regulars at this hotel staying for a couple of nights each in time. It is in a great position and the staff and service are both excellent. Breakfasts are varied. Our evening meal this time was also excellent and they offer bar meals in the bar downstairs if you don't want something too filling.
The staff are amazing. I've never felt so welcome before in a hotel. From the minute we arrived to when we left, nothing was too much trouble.
Everything, no problems, easy to find, park, check in, room excellent, amazing views, bed astounding, meals ok, dining room very good.
Nothings perfect just wear and tear, that’s normal anyway.
Comfortable, clean, quiet with good size room (twin as sharing with grandson) and comfy beds
Slightly worn and dated which may not appeal to everyone.
