Palm Court Hotel

Reasonably good food, pleasant staff, and although though Hotel was 'tired' it was very clean.

Flat pillows,that gave no support to neck or head.

Fairly easy to book in when someone waa found. A nearby resident car park is a bonus.

It seemed lacking in staff on this occasion. Its a nice hotel but hasnt that relaxing going away experience.

The hotel was very bright, airy and clean. Rooms were very comfortable. The staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they were all friendly and welcoming whilst being very professional. The food was exceptional in terms of choice and quality. Breakfast really did set you up for the day. Overall a great stay one I’m certain we will be repeating.

Nr shopping centre handy as it was nr cliff car for beach car park for residents. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal.Stair lift if needed to get to your room.Very enjoyable stay.Everyone was very friendly.

Hotel spotless, loved the way its decorated, inside and out, should be given 4 stars. Great team of staff, happy, smart, friendly and helpful. Parking was safe, especially for the Goldwing.

Our mattress needed replacing, dipped kept rolling over to the side, did get the mattress turned over which helped a lot, had a mattress topper on, seen better days. The food mainly good quality, but when received was not hot, believe most re-heated which dried it out, also made the meat hard. very dissapointed, could only give a rating of 3, sure it would of been a 10 if hot.

Location was ideal, hotel was very comfortable and the staff were great !

Excellent breakfast, good service, cooked to order so nothing under 'lights'. Excellent staff. Evening meals and drinks were always available.

Being an old building, the weather had a detrimental affect on the temperature in the room, A much lighter duvet and bedding would have been welcome. A fan was provided which helped a bit.

I really like the hotels location its central to Scarborough town shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Breakfast room was excellent. The bedroom was large but very hot, glad we did not stay during heat wave, bed and pillows very comfy. Creaky floor in Bathroom. Parking was a bonus and the lift was always working.

A better welcome by reception staff when picking key up.

Breakfast was poor, fatty bacon, was unable to cut the black pudding, and then it was tasteless, we both thought it was poor all round.

Room was a bit small, couldn’t move in the shower.

Room size, we were supposed to have king size but it looked more like a single with a double bed, way too small for 2 people,!

The hotel in itself was lovely, the staff were great and the breakfast delicious and the rooms were clean and well serviced

The rooms were unbearably hot, all we had was a little fan which to be honest did nothing to help, even having the windows open was futile, I know this is England but we have had a really good hot summer and those rooms would definitely benefit from air con units, and it wasn't just our room,I spoke to a number of guests and they all said the same about their room also

My dad stayed in room 38 it was far too hot, no air and fan was useless , he couldn’t sleep , our room was on opposite side 32 it had a nice breeze blowing in.

The location is very central and a short walk away from shops, bars and the sea front. The staff were helpful and pleasant.

Unfortunately the room wasn't clean and in particular the bathroom. There were stains on the wall tiles and mould around the bath. The toilet smelled of urine and generally not clean. The room was very small. The only saving grace was the bed was clean/sheets good. I would say the overall view of the hotel is old, dated and in need of renovation.

The room was too small for a couple with hardly any space to pass each other. The room and bathroom were too hot. Though we were provided with a fan, it didn’t do much to cool us down. The view from the window was a brick wall. We did book to stay 3 nights, we left after two. We just couldn’t bear to stay in the room any longer.

This was rated over 8 by booking but it’s not more than a 6.5 and it is too expensive for the condition of the rooms. My room was facing the back and it was warm but if you open the window it smelled. The carpet is old and the hotel is well maintained but should be updated (especially carpet and room furniture)

Breakfast was excellent, a good and varied choice of dishes and the serving staff were friendly and very helpful. The dining room was very pleasant and well decorated, with interesting photographs of Scarborough in the late Victorian era. The hotel was well located, with a funicular railway down to the South Beach a short walk away. It was an easy and interesting walk to the Castle, which was fascinating to visit. Car parking available, no charge, but limited capacity. Staff very welcoming.

Our room was small, but well provided with beverages etc. The bathrooms was adequate. The external fabric needs attention, (eg rotten window frames.

The hotel was in a good location and the fact you get a free parking space is a bonus. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately our room was really small not even anywhere to sit. The rooms could do with modernising as the furniture is very dated and would benefit a ick of paint. We also had a terrible smell in our room

Our bathroom floor was very noisy when walking on it we understand it is an old property the room didn’t make noise like bathroom felt bad going to the toilet several times in the night saying this it was a huge bathroom very clean I’m sure you can’t do anything with the floor just one of those things

The rooms were very warm due to the weather. The fan wasn't working properly. 2 days into our holiday we then noticed a room lower down using the fan that should have been in our room number. People talked about a lovely breakfast. Well to be honest with you, it wasn't that good. The first day the breakfast looked like it had stood for a while. Overdone. The second day was a lot better breakfast and the third day wasn't too bad. My wife had asked for a clean cup and the milk to be changed cuz black bits in the milk. The hotel could do with updating a little bit, especially the bedrooms.

Great location and free parking. Large bedroom with newish en-suite which worked well.

Due to the fact that the same weekend an event at the open air theatre ment the prices doubled. The hotel certainly adjusted their prices accordingly. Having said that so did every other place in Scarborough, so not alone.

The Lounge food menu had a reasonable choice within a limited range. There seemed a great leap from sandwiches to steak whereas some pasta or chilli type dishes would have been appropriate.

Excellent service all round from the welcome email explaining everything we needed to know from check in time to availability of parking which was great as trying to find parking in Scarbados on a weekend in August is difficult/lovely friendly welcome on arrival /our room was huge nicely decorated and great view even if it was the street and immaculately clean with v comfy bed and location perfect 👌 breakfast was absolutely fantastic everything sourced locally and delicious and the staff again exceptional even though young - well trained -all in all absolutely wonderful stay - well recommended 😀

The noisy v loud music from the Crescent Bar/ Hotel across the road but once windows shut less of an issue - not the Palm Courts fault tho ......

There were three mornings where the water was not up to temperature, on a couple of occasions one of us had a cold shower, although when we highlighted the problem, we were told they had no issues with the water Also one day the room was not cleaned, the toilet bin was not emptied, the dirty cups and glasses weren’t changed, and no cleaning had been done, there were still some dead flies on the carpet from the day before, all that was done was the tea and coffee topped up and the bed pulled over. The room was extremely hot and although we were given extra fans, the room temperature was still too hot, also the bathroom window didn’t open making it very uncomfortable

Food in the restaurant in the evening a little disappointing compared to breakfast. The outside area wasn’t kept clean eg cigarette ends leaves bird poo.

We were on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel the room was extremely hot there was a fan that didn’t work very well The windows were open n all we could smell was the kitchen and food cooked it was also very noisy we have stayed a few more times and rooms at the back are very noisy bins been emptied we had a really bad nights sleep We will not stay again unless we can have rooms at the front and a lower floor room

Location is fantastic, great as it has it's own parking area, friendly staff, breakfast was lovely, in general a decent hotel, but more needs doing to make it good.

I was on the 4th floor, the heat upstairs was too hot, room has 2 fans but noisy if left on, I needed to open all 3 windows even when sleeping, then was the worst part about the hotel, the SEAGULLS !! far too noisy all through the night, early morning still going strong and then council waste disposal lorry emptying glass bins at 6.30/7.00am really !!, you don't need an alarm clock if staying here. ( I know it's the seaside but sleep is important too)

Really lovely staff. Clean. Convenient for town centre and train station. Room was a good size. Good choice at breakfast. Good bar. We would definitely stay there again.

The decor was a bit beige. There are beautiful stained glass windows and it was a shame that everywhere seemed to be shades of taupe. As a bit of advice - be aware that the hotel is near a main road so bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise. It’s not excessive and not a complaint - just a comment.

Room 49 was too small and very hot, being in the attic. I had to sleep on top of the duvet. I couldn't open the window. Most unsatisfactory and not a bit relaxing

The staff and the hotel were very good. The hotel has free parking with the carpark right next door to the hotel great. As Scarborough is extremely difficult for parking The Friendly and helpful staff are professional and kind and the Food was excellent. The only gripe I have was my room was a cosy double room27 which was very hot. Even with all windows open all the time and a fan on in the room. So would recommend in summer heat to avoid the smaller rooms at the back of the hotel. But other than that I highly recommend the Palm Court hotel.

The position of the hotel was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was compact but big enough and the breakfast was an added bonus. Also there was feee parking which you don’t always get in a city centre.

There wasn’t anything not to like. The bedrooms were extremely hot, we had three fans in our room and it was still boiling it might be a good idea to install air conditioning.

The fan didn't work properly in our room,there were also no bedside sockets and the shower glass screen was broken.there was also no fridge,which like the situation with the fan was not good with how hot the weather was.the hotel was fully booked so I didn't complain because I reasoned that there wouldn't be any more fans.

La temperatura della stanza e del bagno (stanza 46 - quarto piano): caldissima nelle ore notturne e nelle prime ore del mattino in quanto esposta al sole, le tubature al bagno inoltre emanano calore tutto il giorno. Nella stanza vi era un ventilatore per nulla efficace. Inoltre durante le prime ore della mattina la stanza è pervasa dall'odore di fritto e pesce che sale dalla cucina della struttura.

Room could have been cleaner. On arrival we found hair and brown stains inside some drawers. There was no air-conditioning to the room we were in although fans were provided. The room was very warm and we had to prop some windows open for ventilation. It was a very warm summer! A bit expensive at £166/night bed & breakfast (for 2) though the room was spacious.
