Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Lovely pub, really nice decor. Comfortable spacious bedroom and bathroom. Staff (especially Evie & Gaby) were friendly and really helpful. Food was well presented and tasty.
Main drawbacks for us were the waste truck outside at 4.30am and because our room (room 9) was close to the flat roof, we were woken again by very noisy extractor fan at 6.30am.
We stay here every year whilst working at the NEC. The property is always spotlessly clean, the food is fantastic and the staff couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating.
Breakfast was very good.
Unfortunately there was a noise which started at 7 am and resonated through the walls. Very disturbing.
Clean and nice friendly staff. Private car park at back
Nothing
Lovely location , great room & very nice staff
Lovely location and room was very clean. Food was excellent
Room extremely hot and fan not much help. It was however a heatwave, so would imagine normally it would be better. At bar, locals seem to be prioritised when waiting for service.
Lovely setting. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Tricky staircase with luggage (not much the hotel can do about that). Could hear neighbours’ voices in next room (and they mine probably).
Good value, very nice breakfast and the staff Isabella. In particular .
Lovely country pub in a charming village, busy with locals and visitors. Excellent food - we were fortunate enough to be there for Tuesday night’s fish & chips special offer. The full cooked breakfast the following morning was superb. The young staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. A great place to stay outside Birmingham, about 30 mins drive away.
Welcoming staff, big quiet room with a lot of facilities.
Nothing to report.
Clean and comfortable room. Very friendly ambiance in the pub area. Chargeable breakfast in the bar was very good and reasonable price. Lovely quiet village location.
Pub staff were very nice.
Room was in a section of the hotel that had previously flooded so it smelt damp and musty.
Convenient location in beautiful village a short drive from the M42. Free on site parking Restaurant excellent and staff were great. Nice clean room with own bathroom. Good breakfast and despite issues mentioned below was still great value for money.
Not the pubs fault but those Church bells! Hourly chimes day and night from the bell tower directly opposite made a good nights sleep difficult.! The lovely old sash windows could do with a vacuum with loads of dead insects on the ledge. Room carpets were stained and edge of bath panel was broken.
Lovely village, very quiet location, good pub atmosphere and food - dinner and breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. We would stay again
The only point that makes this an 8 and not a 9.9 is the shower wasn’t great and the shower cubicle a bit mouldy. The rest of the room including the bathroom is nicely decorated but it felt like they forgot about the shower .
Great food, comfortable room
Bedside light didn’t work
Arrived late - at 840 Kitchen closed 830 but they still provided us with food which was brilliant Staff were outstanding
Nothing
Good comfortable stay would recomendexce
Really friendly and super helpful staff - there was quite a turnaround of staff - but each just as helpful and friendly as the other. The room was super comfortable. Nice clean bathroom. Loved the beams in the room too. Breakfast was delicious. Location was idealic and relaxing! Suggest to go visit the pizza barn too! Very lovely trip :)
NA
Loved the staff. Room was airless and required a fan all of the time but it did the job. Beautiful location. Decent breakfast.
Bar closing times and no late service for residents like living in the 1950s. There is nothing else in Tanworth, no pubs, restaurants or night time activities.
Lovely pub with rooms , great value, lovely little village. We had drinks from the pub on the green. Comfortable room with everything we needed.
It had a lovely sash window but we were unable to keep it open which was a problem as it was very hot. Shower grouting needs attention, although it was clean
Good breakfast.
Smart tv and Internet connection was poor.
Nice central location and spacious rooms. Staff were very helpful.
Bed was the comfiest sleep ever! Breakfast was lovely
The location, the room, the staff and breakfast.Good value
The evening meal was very poor and overpriced. I had steak and ale pie. It was so overcooked that I struggled to cut the pastry and the mash was very salty. My husband had beer battered fish with chips. The batter wasn't crispy and the fish and was tasteless. This has put us off returning because there wasn't anywhere else to eat in the village or nearby.
Clean, excellent staff and fantastic food.
Pretty well everything The location is great Lots of locals all sitting outside in the sunshine in a pretty little village Car parking on site Excellent size room and the staff were all very helpful and friendly All clean throughout Met the owner at breakfast she had recently taken the place over and had improved the quality of the food from the previous owners
Can't really think of anything
Beautiful location, lovely decor
Cobwebs in the bathroom
Beautiful location
On the 1st morning we pointed out to a member of staff that the boxed cereal was out of date. We were told it was a supplier issue. The 2nd morning we were again served out of date cereal. Not acceptable
Great pub, rooms comfortable & mine was large with bath & shower, friendly staff & free parking
Steak & ale pie wasn’t the best but other meals good & beer & wine great
Very quite and peaceful
I forgot my iPhone charger in my room and it disappeared when I asked if they can post it to me.
The breakfast was good and served by the hotel staff. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The local area was very pretty and we had a lovely walk through the church grounds across the road.
The restaurant was closed at 5;00pm, and there were no other food vendors in the area, so we had potato crisps at the bar for dinner. Our room was very small, but for just one night we were comfortable enough.
Comfortable room and bathroom, exceptional dinner in the evening, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely country pub
Breakfast was good and tasty apart from incorrect egg order and inedible toast
Nice village location
Too hot, window couldn’t open far enough. Food expensive
Lovely place, very clean and would definatly recommend. I have emiled twice and requested a VAT invoice in person, please could you email it to me as im still waiting for it. Thanks.
Gorgeous location and great staff
Nothing
Myself and my daughter stopped off here on a roadtrip from Lake Garda to Ireland. It was excellent. The pub itself was lovely, the room was great and the village was picturesque. I didn't get the owners name but she was so nice. She showed us to our room and while we settled in she sorted a table for dinner. The food really hit the spot. This place just happened to be on our route but I would go out of my way to stay here again.
Nothing.
Pretty place in a nice town setting. Superb food in the restaurant, with the atmosphere of a genuine pub
WiFi is really bad in the rooms, impossible to work or connect .
Location. Village lovely. Food good
A bit shabby in places. Stains on the carpet, hole in the net curtain, shower water slow to drain. Lots of small things.
Breakfast was excellent, as was the evening meal, and reasonably priced too.
WiFi connection in room was poor. In fact it was unusable. Was able to connect in the restaurant with a password, but password option was not available in my room. However I could manage without on a one-night stay.
Excellent location, friendly atmosphere and ambience.
Room was very hot however we did stay during a heatwave and a fan was kindly provided.
Room
Soundproof
The location was a very nice English village
The bathroom in the room needed an element of TLC, to make sure it matched the tasteful decor of the pub.
Friendly staff
clean and very welcoming
nothing
The food was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. A member of staff went the extra mile, not only by locating a fan for our room but switched it on so the was cooler when we returned Beautiful touch.
Nothing
We like the location
We have stopped before this time really disappointed with the room very small and bathroom needs upgrading black mould in quite a few areas in shower on doors and on shower head.
Nice village, friendly staff
Church across from The Bell rings its bells every hour on the hour during the night. Breakfast was a bit slow.
The bed was comfortable and I had a great night's sleep.
The stairs up to room are narrow and steep. Whilst the bedroom was clean, the bathroom, especially the shower cubicle was dirty. There was no tea or coffee left in my room which I didn't notice until arriving back after an evening out, in need of a bedtime cuppa. The hot food at breakfast was amazing but the "continental " selection was boxed cereal only, and there were no bowls or spoons. The service was slow and the waiter was indifferent. We handed our keys in and no interest at all as to how our stay was.
Rooms very clean and up to date decor, good in-room facilities. Breakfast and evening meals very good and service excellent. Staff all very helpful. Superior rooms are certainly superior!
Perhaps a bit wider choice for breakfast - fruit option? The heated towel rail in the bathroom was on constantly which didn't help as we were there during a spell of hot weather. If all the rooms are like this it must cost a fortune in electricity - some switches to control them?
Very clean and comfortable. Pub is lovely. Cooked breakfast was very good. Lovely, picturesque village.
WIFI wouldn't work in the room. We were in a downstairs room, the upstairs floorboards were very creaky and noisy which was distracting. We were expecting a choice of cooked and continental breakfast, but other than cereal and toast, it had to be cooked breakfast.
Location. Stanza.
Connessione wifi non funziona
Great location in a lovely village. The bar & restaurant area was very nice and the food was good. The staff were excellent and very accommodating.
The bedroom decor was dated. The shower was grubby with black mould on the hose. The main shower head wasn’t fitted properly and sprayed everywhere. We decided not to use the shower at all. The plumbing noises from the adjacent room sounded like Nigeria Falls.
The whole country feel. Easy to get too AND there was free parking. The food was great and the room spacious with massive bath and shower.
The matress was a bit hard...but then again, you can't please everyone. Still slept ok.
Great location just outside Redditch, nice quiet village, lovely warm evening and sat on the Village green with a pint. Excellent breakfast, the wifi was down, but the staff gave me access to their private system.
Located in a gorgeous chocolate box village. Food was good but had a long wait evening and breakfast.
0 internet and only 1 bar on my phone. Bath room was tiny and dated No shower gel. The noise from the upstairs room was awful, creaking floorboards and the guest was up and in the phone at 6, not the hotels fault but there must be minimal sound proofing.
Food was great. Freshly cooked and well presented
Lovely area, quiet, clean rooms lovely decor and food was amazing
No signal and no wifi
The Bell is in a gorgeous village, nothing around part from a church (which is amazing) , school and garage, but that’s just what we wanted. The pub itself is fabulous, food was good and a great selection of drinks. It was busy too, seems popular with locals. The decor is stunning. We talked to the owner over breakfast the day we was leaving and she was very welcoming telling us about how they got the pub and the challenges in the industry, it is so hard for pubs at the moment so if you get chance visit here
Nothing
Gabi checked us in, then assisted us with the luggage up to our room. Very good service from her.
Nice place
The other guest
The location was ideal
Noisy from the adjacent bedroom, bedroom not serviced and no WiFi although it was advertised as having it.
It was in a lovely village
The pub wasn’t welcoming we felt out of place and didn’t feel comfortable
Beautiful area and building
Lovely location, the pub is excellent, the room was immaculate, clean and comfortable. The bed was super comfy. Staff were polite and welcoming
WiFi was non-existent, no TV remote, and it would have been a bonus to have air-con given the unusually hot weather.
Quiet, small village vibe with lively 1 pub. Nearby activities without the headache of in city. Pub had great food. 10 -25 min drive to the things we wanted to see and do. On-site parking. Good breakfast. Room qiwt despite pub below. Must be well sound proofed
No public transit might be problem for some people. Stairs might be problem for some people⁹
Location
Despite bringing business into village certainly made to feel like an outsider
Good options for food - being gluten free they had a good range of options for me! I had the gluten free fish and chips this time. But the gluten free brownie is delish!
The heat in my room (6) was nearly unbearable - unfortunately the weather got the better of that room. The window would not stay open, and there was no fan. The Wi-Fi was also not working (hasn't been the past couple of times I have stayed).
Olde worldly
Can’t think of anything really
Nothing we refused to stay
The rooms are nothing like the photos on site. The room was dirty and the heat unbearable no windows, radiators were switched on with no way to turn them off. 34 degrees in the room. No way of escape if there was a fire and the staff totally unhelpful until we told them we weren't willing to stay
We were visiting relations in Solihull and like to stay outside the city. The bell was in a great location for us and had a large carpark in the rear. Staff where very friendly and accommodating. We had a evening meal in the Pub which was excellent and the breakfast in the morning was one of the best I have had staying at various hotels/Pubs in the UK.
Unfortunately it was a hot Saturday night when we arrived. Room 6 we could not open the window. So requested a staff member to assist but she could not open the window. So with no ventilation the room was hot and stuffy. I requested a fan which the staff member gave me. We tried to log into the Internet but found that was down until 15th June. Not a problem as I used a Hot Spot from my Mobile.
Lovely quiet village with beautiful surroundings
Nothing
Lovely breakfast couldn't eat it all x
Towel rail in bathroom was hot all the time and couldn’t turn it off
Breakfast 1st class. Close to the venue we were going to
Early check out
The room was comfortable and quiet. We had an excellent dinner but did not have breakfast as there were no vegan options available for some of our party.
The bathroom was a bit chilly.
The location was good, in a pretty little village. The pub itself was pleasant, modern and welcoming. The staff were friendly.
Our room had a door communicating with the bedroom next door - to be fair we had requested a room next to our daughter, who subsequently did not come with us so the room was occupied by another couple. With only a door between the two rooms, the noise travelled in such a way that we could hear the conversation next door in every detail. This was not conducive to a good night's sleep. Combined with the tortuous stairs to get to the room with luggage in the first place and the mouldy shower that a quick spray of bleach would have easily cleaned, we were not impressed with the accommodation. In addition, the breakfast options were very poor, with the a cooked breakfast, or toast, and a basic choice of cereals. Most hotels offer pastries and fruit salad and yoghurt as a standard. We felt that £14.95 for toast and a mini-packet of Kellogg's corn flakes was rather exorbitant. The evening meal, however, was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Super and nice place. Really nice people working there. Highly recommended 🤩👍👍
Location. Lovely quiet little village close to Solihull.
Not much
Everything, just loved it, food, the atmosphere, staff, easy parking.etc.
Lovely pub in a small village. The room was comfortable. We had a meal in the evening which was great. Breakfast was very good too.
The shower was very small
Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, a true gem of a village pub that is situated in a beautiful location.
There's nothing that we didn't like, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Would have liked some fresh fruit
We were cold all the time we were in the bedroom. There was no heating on, so radiators were cold. We used an electric, mobile heater, but the bathroom was Arctic! On complaining, we were told the building was listed so nothing could be done!! The room was supposed to be one of the better, more expensive rooms with lovely bath, but with 3 outside walls and no double glazing, it wasn't worth the extra fee.
Great location, staff, food - nothing bad to point out.
Bathroom needs a small table or cabinet to set items on. I think it was room 9.
Excellent bar and restaurant. Sunny evening so people used the Green opposite to drink ( including us) but others were noisy. Not the hotel’s fault.
Could hear snoring from next room. Had a locked adjoining door which lets all the noise through.
Lovely location . Great staff. Brilliant value for money
Lovely cosy village pub
Spacious room and comfortable bed
Breakfast disappointing
The setting in this lovely village is is it’s main strong point in my opinion. It is popular with locals and has a goof community feel.
There were one of two maintenance minor issues
I used to live in the village 60 years ago. Very little changed. Very well located and atmospheric.
Stairs not good for those with mobility issues.
Friendly, good food reasonable priced fantastic staff.Rooms basic but clean and comfortable
There was nothing we would say about our stay.
Lovely village not far from Shirley
Church clock chimed on the hour all day and all night
Good value included in the room price. Lovely location and very nice staff. Meal in the evening was good.
Bathroom very noisy plumping system and a broken wobbly tap. Brokn light by bed looked quite dangerous. Quite a scruffy room.
Great location for my needs
I thought I’d booked room and breakfast Unfortunately not didn’t realise till I was asked to pay , the room was lovely just a little tired in places ,
Very clean and comfortable
Weren’t able to get dinner as the kitchen closed at 5pm !! And the kitchen wouldn’t accommodate us at all not even with a sandwich
Lovely location! The pub was nice and in a lovely village. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was fabulous!
Sadly the bed was very uncomfortable. There was only one thin sheet over the mattress which was so thin the writing on the mattress was clearly visible. No mattress cover or anything at all. (See photo) I was given a room which connected to another and despite the door being locked, I could hear their entire conversation (and they were just talking normally) as if they were in my room with me. The church across the street chimed every hour, even through the night (but that’s entirely out of their control).
Nice decor, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms with a nice touch of a coffee machine and hairdryer
Food was a little over priced for the quality of the produce
Good breakfast, and the room size was good
Very nice cosy warm room - good food and excellent service
Requested an invoice 3 times and still nothing
Fantastic Food , excellent room
Excellent staff & good menu’s
