Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Breakfast and staff always excellent.
No lift, carrying luggage upstairs can be tricky. A soft cloth or disposable flannel would be nice. Never eough tea or milk. The bathroom sink is cracked, which is not hygienic.
Very friendly and helpful team members.
The hotel location was grear by the beach and staff very friendly
The room was lovely. We had a view of the sea. The staff were always friendly and attentive and there were plenty of them. Service was excellent.
The first room we had was noisy as it was near the kitchen outlet vents. We asked for a move to a quiet room and they arranged the move quickly and with minimum fuss.
Good location on the seafront with a nice terrace and views
The superior king sea view room was tiny and definitely not with the money . It was tired and quite shabby as well as being incredibly warm in the room
Beautifully decorated room Seaview Great bathroom Staff polite Very nice breakfast Exceptional location
Room a little small Funny angle stairs to bathroom
Lovely location, friendly staff, good food. No complaints at all.
Very attractively decorated guest areas
Couldn't make phone calls from your room
Another good stay at the Cooden Beach. Good service and breakfast. A pleasant dinner and atmosphere. The reception team really helped address my changing situation during my stay Thank you
Comfortable, welcoming.. u also put on an excellent service for my aunt's 80th birthday.. the staff were lovely
Nothing
The rooms were comfortable and spacious, the staff extremely friendly and helpful and sitting on the terrace looking at the sea was just what was needed. My client and family had a lovely stay and look forward to returning.
Nothing!
Wonderful location
Our room was quite small and it felt cramped
The property was in a lovely location bar restaurant and staff were great….
Our room which was described as a cozy double didn’t think it was gonna be that small very warm had to open all windows each night then very noisy as train station line being very close..😞could do with a few bits of furniture taken out.should be a single room 👍
Really lovely little spot, great staff, very relaxed vibe throughout. We ate at the restaurant attached. Coming from London, prices were not bad. The fish and chips was great, as was the cured mackerel starter. The doombar was ice cold and fresh.
The room was very hot, despite having a mechanical fan. We struggled to keep cool, and sleep, on a sweltering night. The breakfast in bed was delivered with many jams, but no toast - tbh this may have been us missing a selection on the order.
Close to the beach and train station. Lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the beach and sea. Excellent breakfast
It was very hot when we were there and although we had a fan in the room, we also had to open windows which meant the room was a bit noisy
Took my Grand daughter for afternoon tea but I was not impressed . For £30 each I was expecting a far better selection and presentation. Told the cashier I have had better and had worse. £6 already on bill for service charge but feel awkward asking for it to be removed . I Wanted another pot of tea but gave up trying to get the attention of any staff. I’m sure the main menu is good but I would certainly not recommend afternoon tea.
We liked the friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts and being beside the sea.
The room was a bit small and the decor in the hotel is a bit tired .
Beautiful location and really friendly staff. Food in restaurant was excellent and good choice at breakfast, including special diets. Lovely sitting out on terrace having a drink and great spot for enjoying a swim in the sea just outside. Stayed on ground floor which had loads of room and all facilities. Really enjoyed this, my second stay, so I’ll be back.
Shame about all the workmen and machinery drilling on beach during g our stay, but I realise no fault of the hotel. Nothing g about the hotel to fault at all.
We visited the hotel for coffee and a mid-afternoon snack. The hotel is beautifully situated adjacent to the beach, with a large terrace overlooking the sea. A really great place to sit in the sun, and ideal for just chatting and chilling. Those are the plus points. The food that we ordered, however, was a great disappointment and rather sad. An old wooden platter of rather dubious heritage and possibly risky hygiene. Four small pieces of stale and toasted bread, no butter, a small portion of cheddar, a few slices of salami-like meat, some random greenery, and eight grapes. Not really ideal for two people and a price tag of £20! To be fair they offered us a free coffee when we complained. What a shame - a lovely place, let down by very average food.
The staff here are lovely, efficient and friendly. We had a couple of issues with cold food and an extra item on the bill which wasn't ours, but both things were sorted efficiently. We went on a Secret Escapes deal and we had what was described as a cosy double. In reality it is a single room. The very small double bed was up against the wall, so if one of us need to get out in the night, the other had to move. The bathroom door couldn't be opened fully as it banged into the bedside table. The food was lovely, really enjoyed our stay, if we go again we wouldn't have a cosy double! Would have been 5 stars, but for the size of the bedroom.
Fabulous location on the beach. Great staff and good atmosphere. Clean. Very tasty good quality food. Includes a service charge.
Fabulous location. Good food. Excellent staff.
We had a great time
Just had the most wonderful mini break at this hotel. We enjoyed the new outdoor spa experience offer (jacuzzi, sauna and chill bath) with a beautiful sea view. This was £45 which included a lunch or dinner and the food in the restaurant was amazing. The staff were polite and attentive everywhere we went, in the spa, the restaurant and in the outdoor eating area. The room was lovely with a beautiful refurbished bathroom. We would definitely recommend.
Very helpful staff

Breakfasts were good with great selection of pastries or cooked breakfast -- restaurant area comfortable and airy with views to the sea. Beds were very comfortable. Parking easy .
lack of tourist information , room service seems to be lacking.
The room exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was delicious
Excellent location beachside. Good lunch in main restaurant. Nice room with good facilities
The music at lunchtime was a bit loud
The beach and the breakfast was excellent
No lift or A CON. The railway station was quiet busy but the nearest bus stop was 20 minutes away and the walk to the bus stop was all up hill and part of the walk was with out a foot path.
Staff exceptional, location perfect, food wonderful!
Service was excellent. Staff engaging and clearly aiming to provide exceptional service. Saw a number of negative reviews about staff before our arrival, so was a little concerned. The negative feedback was obviously well received with staff doing all they could to satisfy.
We had a seaview room and being there on the hottest day of the year, the least I expected was a portable air conditioner unit. The room was stifling hot. There was a Dyson fan and a separate desk fan but that just stirred the hot air. Would recommend management consider a different solution for a cooler room, especially if these heatwaves are likely to become a norm. Attention also need on the shower screen door which did not close properly so the bathroom floor ended up being very wet. Crack in bathroom hand basin.
Don’t be fooled by thinking somewhere offers an accessible room will be on the whole accessible friendly 🤦🏼♀️ 18 month in and I’m still getting to grips with my accessibility needs and the level of forethought and volume of questions required to assess how much fun a holiday/break away will be and how much time with be spent trying to advocate for stuff I used to take for granted. Good points: Location The breakfast The majority of the staff are friendly and are happy to help (if you ask) but a special mention for Angela in the restaurant (I hope I have her name right) the wonderful petite Italian lady from Bexhill who has a wicked sense of humour! Room cleaners were excellent The room was nice and spacious. There’s probably a lot positives if you are able bodied. Bad points: Shower door in room didn’t close properly and sink had two very large cracks in and no plugs to fill sink on purpose (in case you forget to turn tap off) Toilets and lack of them if you are anywhere but indoor restaurant. Shade if you are anywhere but indoors or outdoor restaurant and can get a table in shade. Cleanliness everywhere could be improved main areas of issue for us were spa and completely non smoking outdoor restaurant with fag butts that were left around blue comfy seats from Monday-Friday. Food under restaurant tables at breakfast from the night before (unless someone made it to breakfast before me and had a salad) Disappointing outdoor spa Lack of shade Health and safety instructions inside the steam room! That are also illegible for the most part because the steam had penetrated the laminate 😂 if ya could read through the steam! In my opinion it is not possible to use the outdoor spa safely in hot weather if there is no access to shade from midday. We had a lovely time regardless but if I had paid the usual rate I doubt I would have the same opinion. We paid 50% of going rate by finding a deal on secret escapes and then booking directly with the hotel on a price match basis with the benefit of the indoor spa use. We stayed for 4 days and I struggled, in part due to the toilet facilities and where they were positioned whilst using either the indoor/outdoor restaurant the sun loungers on the green or the beach! as you have to either weave in and out of restaurant tables (and disapproving diners) or walk around the exterior of the building to use toilets near reception. I didn’t use my wheelchair at the hotel so I have no idea if they have an accessible toilet available or I missed all signage directing me to one so used the regular loos whilst there. The indoor spa is pretty accessible but is cleaned either poorly or very infrequently. Hand prints remained on sauna doors for the entirety of our stay and the hubby removed bits from the jacuzzi daily only to find the little pile of debris still there the next days. The food was a game of two halves 2 meals were fabulous! 3rd took well over an hour between starter and main and when main finally arrived one had to be sent back because it was too salty, so opted to just go straight for dessert(disappointing when you have paid for food credit! At least we were given a complimentary drink). Staff were very apologetic and we seemed to be one of two tables whose orders had disappeared at the same time. 4th mediocre at best, salad ordered with additional halloumi which was a block cut into two big triangles with a couple of burn marks 😂 not great! Due to the food disappointment they allowed me to use the outdoor spa instead of the indoor (which was included) and waived the £15 a head fee. Unfortunately when I booked in the young lady that was supposed to be escorting me walked off and left me because I was too slow with my walking stick, when I caught up she directed me outside and stated we had to go that way. I asked if that was the most direct route to which she responded “it’s the route we have to take” I explained I would battle through the restaurant in my bikini and robe because I can’t walk round the outside due to being twice the distance. She walked off and left me again. We arrived and I asked if she could fill my insulated flask with water she refused and insisted it would be better for me to have the caraf and glass she offered so I accepted. I asked her how to use the outdoor shower so I didn’t contaminate the water. She was very put out that I was requesting to use the facility in the most hygienic way quite baffling. She went for help and I asked the waiting staff over the fence for assistance which was a case of turning on the hose for it. This also established that the only shade available after mid day was to sit in the sauna 😂 the cold pool which had been the draw for the outdoor spa was marginally cooler than the sea but not much. Access to cold plunge pool can not be done safely if you have restricted mobility without 1-2 people to assist, if your wanting to use for pain reduction it’s not the cold pool for you 😂 When we tried to settle our account we were charged for food that should have been already credited luckily my husband had his reading glasses so was able to quickly spot the error before they took the money. He wasn’t asked how our stay had gone 😂 but ultimately at 50% cost we had a 50% stay and if I had paid £1200 for the room plus £320 for dining at the restaurant it would’ve been 🤬🤬🤬
Amazing spa experience and lunch at the restaurant. The staff were attentive and personable. Matt our waiter was fantastic and Tyler made incredible cocktails!
Belil, Richard,Stephen,Ruby,Amber,Oliver,Angela,Tyler,Ali(last 2 on reception)provide A1 service,professionalism, politeness,and product.Good value for aforementioned and the stunning location.Enjoy a drink/snack on the terrace overlooking the sea.Thoroughly recommend.
Great accommodation, wonderful food and excellent service.
Everything was excellent
Food was great, staff were wonderful so friendly and made the experience amazing. Every area of the hotel is spotless! 100% will return
Only issue was no ac in rooms & during the heatwave it was 28 degrees in our room! They did bring us extra fans to try to help :)
Beautiful beach front location. Good food. Staff very friendly
We were in Sea House which was a bit disappointing for the money we paid. Not in the hotel itself and opposite the railway station. Also a bit dated and not what I had in mind when booking. The staff were lovely but clearly not enough and they were so rushed off their feet. Took 25mins to get a coffee at breakfast. Not the staff’s fault as they were trying their hardest but simply not enough of them.
Lovely breakfast overlooking the sea
Had a lovely stay with two friends. We booked a family room which was perfect as had 3 double beds which were very comfortable and had nice bedlinen. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and we had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant overlooking the sea. Breakfast was also lovely and cooked fresh to order. All in all couldn’t fault it. Will be back!
Great location
No air conditioning in the room
Great views of the beach
Sehr grosszügiges Familienzimmer mit 2 Räumen , tolle Lage direkt am Strand, sehr freundliches Personal und super Frühstück .
Nichts gefunden 😎
I read the reviews and wonder if you stayed at the same hotel? Perhaps we cought it on a poor day? We chose the hotel because it emphasised dog friendliness and good food. In our experience neither were true and overall standards were very far from what we would expect from a supposedly four star hotel. The location is great, fronting onto the beach. We didn't use the spa so I can't comment on that. The problems started with booking. We online booked a dog friendly, ground floor, superior room to be contacted by the hotel to be told there were no dog friendly ground floor superior rooms. After much confusion we were given a dog friendly standard room in the annex on the first floor but charged the superior price - £306/night. They promised to adjust this on checkout, but didn't. I eventally received a £20 refund. It transpires that dog friendly rooms are restricted to the annex. After a long drive we arrived to be directed to the room. The annex is accessed across the car park, up stairs. Nobody offered to assist us with our luggage despite our age. The room, although clean, was of a size I would associate with a Premier Inn and a bit shabby. The hotel advertises a dining area where one can take the dog. What they don't mention is this area doubles as the games room with a few small tables around the edge of a small bar seating area. I don't associate fine dining (as advertised) with the noise of teenagers playing pool 3 feet from my ear... It appears dogs are tolerated rather than welcomed. As it turned out, the food wasn't exactly top quality either. Adequate at best and over-priced. I should record that one of the few redeeming features of our stay was the service from the restaurant staff who deserve a better hotel. Overall, this was appalling value for money. The quality of the hotel, service and facilities do not justify a four star rating and it costs at least twice what would have been a reasonable price.
Sea view and pleasant staff
The Relais is a delightful relaxed seaside hotel with lovely staff and a great position right on the beach. It’s got a very chilled atmosphere which makes it very easy to relax there. Having only booked b and b after our first night having dinner there we decided to eat there every evening. Other guests told us the spa was lovely though we didn’t try it. It’s also very conveniently located for trips to places of interest in the area such as Battle, Rye, Eastbourne, Beachy Head etc .
Although Cooden Beach is quiet some of the side rooms overlook a road which is not at all busy but does seem to attract boy racers so if that might bother you I would say choose a sea view room or call the hotel and check where your room would be.
Lovely location right on the beach. Very tasty food at the restaurant. Comfortable beds and friendly staff. The bathrooms are new and modern. Super nice.
Everything was great. But please add a 'man-sized' steak to your menu, like a 300g rib-eye, as the steaks are very small.
The location
In restaurant area in evening, we were made to feel Like inconvenience when we went to sit down. Room was very tired and seemed dated Bathroom not great No music playing at all in public areas.. so crowd noise was loud
Spa/hotel is beautiful, beach is right on hand so great for sitting on patio to enjoy view and walk too if wanted
4 of us came to use your spa for the morning the facilities were everything that we needed.the staff were friendly and polite. Took us for a tour and then left us to get changed The facilities were clean and there was a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, foot spa and heated beds to relax in. There was a separate room for us to sit and chill in. We all had a 50 minute treatment which was amazing and left us very relaxed. The staff were very experienced, polite and professional. We all had such a good experience.after we had a voucher to use in the restaurant which was top notch. The food was amazing and the staff were great very helpful when we asked for a birthday dessert . We went out to the patio where we had a view of the sea and spend the rest of the day drinking . Was an amazing experience over all and would definitely recommend this hotel. Am definitely coming back for a stay as its in a beautiful place by the sea.
Clean, modern, lovely venue
No lift
Excellent location, near the sea. Clean rooms and facilities. Friendly and helpful staff
Great location a stones throw from both stations and beach. Lovely facilities and attentive staff.
Lunch and breakfast were both excellent, as were the staff. The location was brilliant. We stayed in the family room which was perfect. Our weekend was to celebrate a birthday and the hotel was above our expectations. Thank You!
Nothing
De ligging aan zee met de beschikbaarheid van ligzetels aan het strand
Hoewel alles zeer netjes is, geven de aanwezige vlekken op meubilair en vloertapijt die indruk niet.
We have been coming to this hotel for many years and have seen lots of changes over the years. It is a lovely hotel. The outside bar has made a big difference to the service as the waiters can see who to serve as they don't go into the inside bar anymore. What can I say a truly lovely break. Two things to mention, and they aren't complaints, just something for the managers to make a note of. 1) The back of the hotel and the chimney could do with a power wash/paint as it doesn't look good if you arrive either by car or especially the train. Take a stroll to the station and you will see. It looks a not very nice place from here. Lots of good things inside but the back of the hotel has been neglected. 2) The outside spa area has frosted glass one side and a slatted fence on the terrace side. Everyone from the terrace can see in and I don't think I want to be in there in full view of diners. Perhaps think of putting frosted glass terrace side to make it more private. All in all a fabulous stay and we will be back next year for sure
Great location, great atmosphere have been here twice and love the atmosphere, service is fantastic staff are lovely. Dogs are allowed.. Would recommend
Super service from Jacob who, despite a constant stream of people arriving, was welcoming, efficient & friendly. We sat outside & had sandwiches & chunky chips which were generous and delicious.
Took my parents and daughter and family for lunch at the hotel on the outside patio it was so lovely , the staff were absolutely amazing went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable even moved the table so we could sit in the shade , we all had sandwiches and they were amazing also some chunky chips , highly recommend the hotel thanks for a lovely lunch and a brilliant atmosphere we will be back
Nice atmosphere and great view of the beach/sea. The food was wonderful I just wish they had more veggie options. The burger was bubble and squeak instead of a beyond burger which was a bit disappointing. Overall a great experience and would come back.
Right on the beach, calm and a comfortable stay!
Nothing really!
My friend and I visited the spa and had the nicest time. The facilities were clean and modern. The staff were all lovely and friendly. The treatments we had were perfect and the therapists put us at ease straight away. We also booked the outdoor thermal spa- beautiful view whilst chilling in the hot tub with drinks finished our day off. We will defintely be returning ☺️
Steve and the team made our visit so special; it was my mother in laws 81st Birthday. She loves the beach and this was the perfect location for her celebration! Thank you all for great food, service and an amazing welcome

Beautiful and cosy historic hotel in lovely village. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely rooms and great food. Private parking with charging stations.

Exceptional service from the beginning to end - Tyler? on reception was amazing as I had trouble with the stairs and changed my room to one nearer. Food and facilities lovely and helped with the weather and felt fully relaxed even though it was a work trip.
Not really an issue as a fan was provided but the weather and the size of the room just makes it hotter.
Great lunch on the terrace at the Cooden Beach. The fish platter was delicious and beautifully presented. The waiters couldn't do enough for us - best service we've had for a long time. Would thoroughly recommend.
Myself and two friends were visiting a friend of ours who has moved to Bexhill. We booked this hotel for a Saturday night so we could have a weekend with our friend. We booked 3 ‘Cosy doubles’ so we could have a room each. We were not disappointed- we all said what a lovely room we all had. The hotel is not cheap but worth every penny. Loved the cocktails in the seafront bar and the generous breakfast the following morning. Such a warm atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. We will be back . Thank you to all the staff
End of Term treat for my hard working colleagues! We had the lovely outdoor spa facilities all to our selves with a complimentary bottle of fizz thrown in! It was great fun dipping in and out the jacuzzi and sauna. Beautiful views of the beach. Our lovely Stephanie looked after us so well. Thank you!
Everything was perfect, very attentive staff, great food, spotlessly clean everywhere. Ideal setting.
Location and view of the sea
Being woken at 6.00am by moving furniture from the room above. It is the first hotel i have stayed in that charges for use of the spa. Remove the spa mention from the hotel description. Advertise this clearly. We would have stayed at the Grand in Eastbourne if I had known the spa was not particularly impressive anyway and certainly not good value at £15 an hour. I pay £80 per month for unlimited use of better spa facilities at my local health club.
Everything, having stayed here last year, we just had to stay again, it,at 91 was what I was looking for and knowing I would get it.Could
Could have air con in the bedroom and a razor socket in the bathroom
My 3rd solo trip. This is the most perfect hotel to rest & revive. The staff are just amazing as always. The hotel, believe it or not has a beautiful vibe that cannot be faked. Its so comforting to be here. Just need to keep it a secret. The older lady in reception who's name I cant remember but she is such an asset for the welcome she provided me, an the help for any query. So warm so smart an so kind. The new uniforms really are a great idea. Jacob who shines in the dining room. His service skills an warmth is really something special. ( his parents should be so proud). His body language really stands out with such great respect as he takes & delivers the orders. Dale the manager in the restaurant is easy to engage with and helpful. All the staff in the restaurant ( and Im sure the kitchen team) are truly perfect. So many staff too. You are never ever left unattended. The food as always is beautiful. You would not need to visit any local restaurants. During the day an evening its gets very busy because its such a great find. My room was beautiful and spotless always housekeeping ladies around to help. A hotel on the beach is the most magical find. The spa is also a great place to go. Sibohan is the best massage therapist ive ever had. Hence I book her each visit. Car parking is great too. My only personal request is maybe the meals could be smaller. Quite a few of the guests & visitors are older an may like a smaller amount. Its the perfect hotel to arrive for a stay an not need to go out. The beach is beautiful, the food is perfect, the spa is available.
I've been to Cooden Beach on numerous occasions both as an overnight guest, restaurant diner and outdoor diner, but we only return because it's the only place in the area. The hotel is lovely and we've never had any issues and why we gave 3 stars. The experience for food and drinks on the terrace however they still can't get right. They never seem to know what people have ordered, they miss basic requests like when you ask for sauce and it never comes, and then they have the audacity to add a 10 percent service charge to every bill. I genuinely don't understand how it can be so hard to get right.
Had a great lunch on the beautiful terrace . Very comfortable seating and the staff were exemplary . We weren't rushed even though they were busy. Stephen in particular treated us as if we were the only clients that day, going specially to check that what we wanted was available . Whether you want a snack lunch or a full service-with a brilliant view - this is the place .
Hotel room nice staff
Lack of pool limited menu ie more healthy option dirt under sauna seating
Location is just great if you like walking and don't want to use tge car. Train station 5 min walk. Really friendly and approachable staff - that makes a huge difference. Good restaurant.
I want to be fair in this review: the hotel itself is beautiful, and it is such a shame we couldn’t stay. However, the more I think about the room we were given, the more upset I am that it is even allowed to be offered as dog-friendly accommodation. We booked during a heatwave (temperatures exceeding 30°C), only to find our room was an absolute furnace. While I acknowledge that air conditioning is not explicitly listed on their website, a "dog-friendly" room with zero windows and only a sliding door is a severe safety hazard in the summer. Leaving the sliding door open overnight for ventilation was a major security risk, meaning we had no safe way to cool the room. When we raised this, the reception's response was incredibly disappointing. We were told we "should have called ahead" to request AC. However, I had already emailed twice prior to our stay to confirm our dog’s booking. The hotel had ample opportunity to warn us that their dog-friendly rooms lacked ventilation, especially given the extreme weather. Instead of offering a real solution like moving us to a cooler room or coming to assess the situation the staff simply gave us two ineffective fans. With two people and a dog in a stifling room, the temperature was only going to rise overnight especially because we couldn’t have the door open. Everyone knows the dangers of leaving a dog in a hot car; leaving a pet in a windowless, unventilated room in 30°C heat is no different. I don't want to point fingers, but the danger to our pet was very real. We felt we had no choice but to leave for our dog’s safety. If you are traveling with pets, please be aware that the dog-friendly rooms here are not safe during the warmer months.
Location was fabulous. Right on the beach which was huge and practically empty. Plenty of staff and room around the inside and outside for relaxing, eating and drinking. Rooms spacious and very comfortable beds.
Although all of the staff were helpful, friendly and always on hand, some of them could have done with some additional training (a fault of management rather than the actual staff members). The Hotel has obviously had a massive upgrade from it's older, tired bonestructure, but some of the fittings were beginning to look in need of a touch-up. We stayed on a very busy weekend as the Hotel was also hosting a wedding and the service (and food) in the restaurant suffered for it. We waited a very long time for our meals and a couple of them had obviously sat for a while.
Although our room was small (coszy double} and very hot as it is at the top of the hotel, it met most of our needs. The shower was brilliant. The real star though was the view - room 210 has an amazing view of the sea and we enjoyed just sittig on the bed looking out. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was great.
It was a shame that one side of the bed did not have a bedside table or shelf but they did have a table and chair in the window recess. Although we had a wonderful stay, we felt it was a bit overpriced considerig the room size and only 1 chair in the room - they did have a wedding there so availability was very limited. Having said that, we intend to return.
Fantastic location and the staff were amazing
It was all good
Lovely style and great selection of drinks and food. Amazing garden right on the beach. My child has severe allergies and they were so attentive and careful, always being prepared for us and checking all the ingredients. Have been to a lot of places with her and this place was by far the best, making us feel relaxed and not worried about any allergic reactions
The room could’ve been a bit cleaner as had lots of stuff on the carpet but other than that was perfect
Started our visit with some time in the outdoor spa, the weather was perfect, we had a lovely time with great views, hot tub was excellent, we even braved the chill tub. We had lunch booked for 1:30, we were shown to a lovely table in front of the outdoor bar with doors open for a breeze, I’ve been a few times for lunch and a dinner here, service although friendly is disjointed, no one owns a section so tables are left waiting to order and having to ask staff to come over, we noticed this a lot, we ordered our food inc starters for my friend and asked for it to all come out together as it was her lunch, no that didn’t happen, we had to wait around 15 mins after she got hers, our food was delicious and plenty of it, we then had to find someone to order a dessert just 1 lemon tart, it took near on 30 mins to arrive ridiculous and the restaurant was pretty empty by this point, we saw a manager wandering around but not really keeping an eye on what was going on, a lot of the time staff gathered at the till point, I’ve pointed this out before, staff need their own areas and things would run much smoother, some staff couldn’t even take an order, really! They are just their to carry plates seems odd to me. Anyway we had a lovely time for my friends birthday she received a free glass of Prosecco which was lovely thank you.
Lovely hotel in an amazing location, with the most helpful of staff (breakfast was great too)
The room was a little hot, but we were in a heatwave, so happy to put up with that for the benefit of the good weather. Was also a fan in the room which helped.
Although I live locally I haven’t visited this hotel for a while, but wow, what a difference since my last experience. The spa is great, Laura couldn’t do enough for us, so welcoming. The restaurant was lovely and bright with beautiful outlooks over the sea. Food was great and the service was impeccable. Great staff and great location, well worth a visit
Really enjoyed our stay - friendly staff made it that much more enjoyable - thank you.
Nothing to dislike
Great friendly staff
We live in East Sussex. Cooden beach is our closest hotel. We have been going there for years, as it has changed over the years.Today I asked somebody what was the hotel like and was told mediocre. It is in fact a ,great staff and great food. It easer even expensive, and the quality was superb.we watched the sea. Whilst we ate, delicious food was, served and we enjoyed fabulous service. Thank you Angela
Comfortable room with excellent food offerings
Nothing
Ideal relaxing location adjacent to the beach and channel. Welcoming and friendly staff and a lovely restaurant. Bed was really comfortable and room was spotless
Only minor thing was the need for a fan through the night due to the heat but not an issue as I would rather have it than not
Location was excellent. Perfect spot for visiting local towns and places of interest.
The speed of service in the restaurant for both breakfast and evening meals could be improved. At breakfast it felt like we always had to be asking for something e.g fruit juices to be refilled, are there more bowls, are there more spoons. Staff did not seem to be very well co-ordinated and lack of someone in an oversight role. Shame that our room did not have air conditioning
We are two couples who selected this hotel, which was a Secret Escapes deal, as we were coming to the area to play golf. What a find! Magnificent situation, with a beautiful open terrace on the edge of the beach a great place for our welcome drink. We had a seaview in our delightful room and were treated to magnificent food in the open, airy restaurant, served by a young, personable, professional team. We were so impressed by our stay, that we immediately booked for another night later this month.
We loved the beach side location and the good sized room, with a sea view.
Fab location. Vegetarian breakfasts were ok.
Very warm rooms at this time of year.,
We had a lovely evening on the terrace, with fish and chips and a few beers served by Steven. We moved tables to follow the sun as it set the Veiw is wonderful.thank you for your great service.
I am a local and haven't been to the hotel this year following a poor experience previously. Visited the outside bar overlooking the beach on a sunny afternoon. It was very busy but the service and clearing was first class with ample staff. I spoke with the bar manager Stephen to complement him on his staff and found him to be a charming chap with a good sense of humour. Not the cheapest bar in the area but what do you expect in a classy hotel bar with a super location.
We had lunch outside in the pleasant weather. We had a lovely lunch there with some drinks We got chatting to Steve the supervisor ( who said he would buy us a drink if l done a good review) Very pleasant afternoon. The seagulls were annoying and nearly nabbed a customers fish n chips. A great hotel with great friendly staff especially Charlie.
Lovely room, the aroma therapy smells around the hotel. The location is great of depending on weather
Floorboards were a bit creaky in the room
Helpful staff. Excellent food at breakfast and evening meal.
