Reviewed Jul 15, 2026The staff were so lovely! The couple that run the place spent some time telling us about all the places in the area. The cleaning staff were very sweet too. The place was clean and a reasonable size. The location is awesome, the mountains seem like they're right in town and you can see them out the front door. It's an easy walk to all the shops. Stayed two nights and check in and check out was easy.
Nothing, everything was great.

Reviewed Jun 14, 202658 On Cron Motel is in a fantastic location — close to all the main attractions while still offering great value for money. Although the facilities are a little dated, everything was clean, well-maintained, and fully functional. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing us with plenty of useful information before we even arrived. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcome from the start. We had a very comfortable stay and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Franz Josef.
The room felt a bit cold on the first night despite the heater being on, but the second night was much better and we were very comfortable!

Reviewed May 2, 2026Locality and it had a kitchen, it had everything we needed
It was kept clean, but dated. Power went off from the afternoon till about 1am. So we were sitting in the dark, couldn’t have dinner, or shower. Had to use how phones do light. Power went off in most of the area, so it really wasn’t the motels fault. But would have been nice if the host had given us a candle or just something small as we paid for full services.

Reviewed Apr 25, 2026The customer service at 58 on Cron has been exceptional and really made our stay! The room was new and clean (we had a room for 3 Adults which was a great option), the beds were nice and the bathroom was large and fitted out for those with accessibility needs (not my requirement). Great location too. From the minute we arrived, the team were friebdly and kind. They gave me milk, directions and ice throughout my stay. The next day they contacted me because we left something behind. They arranged to post the item back to my home in Australia, keeping me informed throughout. I can't thank the team enough for their kindness - they went above and beyond!

Reviewed Apr 12, 2026Lovely sized room with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Cooking facilities good. Very helpful hosts who provided us with a list of places not to be missed as we continued our road trip down the coast toward Queenstown.
Nowhere to hang towels other than over the shower - only one narrow rail available. Freezer in bar fridge needed defrosting, I struggled to fit ice packs in there. However, when I told the hosts, they were very keen to get the cleaners to attend to it asap. This is not so much a complaint, just constructive feedback.
