The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The icing on the cake was the breakfast... it was exceptionally good!

There was a really handy key box for late check-in and it would be great to let guests know in advance. We got delayed on the Cleveland Way without internet/mobile connection and were worried about being locked out.

Booked rowntree lodge Fri to Mon as reviews were very good + 4 star accommodation. on arrival we were shown to our room and given our key . On entering room we noticed how warm the room was even thought windows were proped open with wooden block , on checking the bathroom the picture on the wall had a broken frame which we reported right away so we wouldn't be charged for breakages, a member of staff came up and removed picture . We asked if we could possibly have another fan for our room, his reply was i could ask but we didn't receive one. Saturday morning cleaning staff knocked on but we said we were fine today didn't need anything. Sunday went down for breakfast, same time 8.30am noticed it was very busy and noisy on cafe side of B&B , table set, but nothing set out on breakfast bar ,no juice, cereal, jams . Sat down, staff member appeared to take our order and apologised for noise inside and outside if it disturbed us as it was a local running group who meet every 6 to 8 weeks and use the café after there run from 8am . We mentioned to staff member that nothing had been set up on the breakfast side her response was she thought there was only a couple for breakfast then realised there were 7 and because it was so busy , she took our order and asked did we want juice bringing . 2 guests came down for breakfast and said when they arrived last night they were told about the runners . After breakfast we went back to our room gathered our bags ,left towels on bathroom floor to be replaced and went out for the day again . Came in late noticed towels in bathroom had been placed over shower and back on hand rails but not been replaced , by this time my husband was fast asleep and I was very anxious couldn't sleep , so went to make my self a cup of tea thats when I noticed the kettle was full of lime scale which I didn't know anything about as I didn't make the drinks we had .

The room (4) we had is a good size with a nice sitting area. Bed generally comfortable. Side lights okay but could have been brighter. Shower room good, too. Excellent breakfast with great choice of offerings. Parking easy and convenient, as it was last year when we visited.

The left-hand door of the shower cubicle wouldn't open - would have been nigh-on impossible to shower if either of us was a little overweight!

The breakfast options were amazing!! Parking was fine and free parking cards worked really well for us.

Could see the cafe / breakfast area has recently been refurbished, rooms and bed were a little tired but very clean. Only 1 coffee included in breakfast and refills are normally offered.

The room was clean and spacious, and very quiet at night. The breakfast options were interesting, with a number of vegetarian and vegan options. It was only 15 mins walk to the centre/buses/ train station, and 5 mins walk to the top of the cliffs.

There was just a small, quite high window in the bedroom. Lack of fresh fruit at breakfast.

Lovely big room, spotlessly clean, great welcome pack. Very accommodating with a last minute change of plan . All very nicely decorated and great location.

Unterkunft war schön, aber der Rest nicht. Gegend nicht sehr einladend, etwas weit mit dem Koffer vom Bahnhof, bergauf. Scarborough ist komplett von Möwen verseucht und leider etwas runtergekommen.

The superior room we stayed in was so large and comfortable. TV was hit and miss due to the internet connection. Well equipped. Breakfast was lovely and parking was fine.

Lovely and clean hotel. Food is excellent and an ideal portion size. Staff are very welcoming. Great location to South Cliff and South Bay, roughly 12 min walk to town centre along the main bridge. Room 9 was a generously sized twin room, ideal for the 3 nights.

Parking is a balancing act, seemed much more complicared than North Bay hotels, having to swap between discs (3 hour limit) and then paying for scratch card permits (£10 for 2 nights)- never had this before nor had to pay before and we've been visiting for 20 years all over the sea front along both bays. Free parking is available but very limited along Avenue Victoria. It's the only thing that impacted us, everything else was top notch

We had a great room very spacious and comfortable bed . The property is in a great location 10 minute walk from sea front .. will no longer look at other venues to stay in when visiting Scarborough will definitely stay here.

The window didn’t close properly and kept banging all night as it was a very windy night this did keep us awake ☹️ The toilet could have done with some bleach down it before our stay & the wash basin was cracked

Friendly staff who welcomed us and accommodated our early arrival without any problems. Food was lovely and the room was clean and large. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept soundly.

This was my fourth stay at Rowntree Lodge and it was just as lovely as before. The superior room was spacious with a very comfy bed and sofa and table and chairs. There was a good amount of teas and coffee! Most of all though the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast was amazing!

Rommet vi fikk var svært udelikat, råte i vinduene og med dårlig renhold. Sopp i dusjen? Spindelvev i taklampa. Det lå et gulvteppe på teppegulvet for å skjule stygge flekker. Toalettet sluttet å ta inn vann, den siste dagen vi var der. Vi sa fra til renholdspersonalet, men ingenting ble gjort. Vi fylte vann fra dusjen i avfallsdunken for å få skylt ned i toalettet, siste halve døgnet. Rommet lå i 3 etg, og det var ingen alternative nødutganger ved en eventuell brann.

The property was in an excellent location to the town and walk along the sea front. We were welcomed by very helpful host who took us to our room. The room was beautifully clean with all the necessaries. The breakfast was delightfully presented with a superb selection if you didn’t want the full English. Attention was made to details that made you feel welcomed and relaxed.

First time at the Rowntree Lodge in Scarborough, it won't be my last. This lovely place is 10 minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Our room was a superior room and it was lovely. A massive bed that was so comfortable we had the best nights sleep we've had in a while. The room was very clean and there were lovely little touches - a hairdryer, tea and coffee, towels, hand wash and shower gel. We paid for breakfast to be included and we were spoilt for choice. The staff are really friendly. There is something for everyone and the food is freshly cooked and was really good and was a great start to the day. I will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

I really cannot think of anything that I didn't like about this accommodation.

Wir wurden direkt bei Ankuft sehr nett empfangen und ein hilfsbereiter junger Mann half uns, die Koffer ins Zimmer zu tragen. Wir hatten ein sehr schönes großes Zimmer, mit einem großen Bett mit guten Matratzen. Auch das Bad hatte eine angenehme Größe! Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt.

Wenn ich eine Kleinigkeit bemängeln würde, dann den Teppich im Zimmer. Finde ich immer nicht so hygienisch. Aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau, denn es war alles sehr sauber!

Warm welcom on arrival, gorgeous room nice and peaceful too. Breakfast was lovely nothing was too much trouble . Cant wait to go back.Loved the location, nice walk in the sunshine through the Italian Gardens to the Spa.

The room was beautiful and perfect for our one night stay. Really liked that check-in was from 13:00, lovely to be able to arrive somewhere and settle in earlier. We had lunch in the cafe when we arrived and breakfast the next morning. Good service and delicious food. The booklet in our room was full of helpful recommendations for eating out. We chose to book to eat at Tuscany Too as the weather was bad and didn't fancy a very wet walk into town. Food and service there was also amazing.

The location was perfect for attending an event at Scarborough Spa and we managed to park right outside the building. The room was spacious and had everything you might need - iron, hairdryer, TV and kettle with lots of tea, coffee, sugar, etc. Everywhere was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast at KIN. Cafe was delicious and we would highly recommend it.

The cold tap didn't work and we hadn't noticed this until late at night, but we reported it in the morning and I'm sure it would have been sorted ready for the next guests.

Pas possible d’ouvrir les fenêtres entièrement mais juste sur 10 cm, certainement à cause du risque du chute, mais avec une journée chaude comme nous en avons eue 1 à ce moment là, il faisait très chaud dans la chambre. Et avec ces fenêtres très peu ouvertes, nous avons un concert de goélands à 5h du matin, mais pour cette partie l’Hôtel n’est pas en cause 😬

The bed was two singles and was kind of sunk into the middle however the duvet was nice. The cold tap in bathroom didn’t work. Let too much light in in the morning.

Fantastic staff & gorgeous breakfast. Was moved to another room as bed too soft in 2 others but moved with no fuss & a smile thankyou. The one thing we need is a 'firmish' mattress because of our old & bad backs. We have stayed here twice before but around 3 years ago & we think it's a lovely place as long as beds are comfortable. In a handy area for the Spa but we find it easy to walk into the centre & down to the front too.

Just need a good mattress for a good night's sleep. Everything else excellent 👍🏻

The location is great. A lovely old Victorian building on the Esplanades, great views & handy for the Spa cliff lift. Lovely and quiet. Your room key opened the front door as well. It is room only but they do offer breakfast in the cafe on the ground floor at a reduced rate. We stayed in a superior double room, big bay windows. The large bed was so comfortable. Tea & coffee facilities with biscuits. Handwash and shower gel provided. Big smart Tv but not many channels tuned in. Coat hangers provided. A fan was also available.

As it wasn’t a b&b. On a night some guests were quite loud coming in. Our 1st night 1 couple were arguing outside the entrance so we could hear everything until they eventually came in but bedroom door was slammed quite late. On our last morning there was no hot water to have a shower, which was disappointing.

Very nice B+B in a decent location in Scarborough, handy for the South Cliff / Spa where we were attending a concert. Nicely appointed rooms. Nice cafe attached to the B+B which is open to the public with a separate room for guests , breakfast was very good.

We paid a high price via Booking.com compared to the prices advertised for a Friday night directly at the property, the price we paid did include a 'credit' towards our breakfast. We mentioned this discrepancy in pricing to the owner who gave a further discount on the breakfast which we thought was a very good gesture.

Location is excellent, parking plentiful. Beautiful building which has been very tastefully upgraded. Very clean. Staff were lovely too. Our king sized bed was huge - room 3, massive shower room, lovely and light. Slept very well. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Oh and the breakfast was great, just a bit different!

Not too sure about no reception, however it worked perfectly for us so maybe just something we are not used to.

Room was very hot and sash window only opened slightly for safety issues. We had a hot water pipe in room 2, therefore it was difficult to keep it cool even with the fans they provided.

It was unbearably hot in the top floor (not during heatwave, maybe reached 24 outside during the day). The fan provided was completely inadequate for the room and didn't work well. Barely slept

Ein schönes, großes Zimmer mit gemütlicher Sitzgelegenheit und ein schönes großes Badezimmer. Die Lage war gut, der Bahnhof 20 Min zu laufen und zur Esplande mit Meerblick nur wenige Minuten. Frühstück war sehr lecker. Extra zubereitet, zur Auswahl von det Frühstückskarte.

The hotel offered money for drinks, however when we arrived(5pm) the staff had finished for the day, so there was knowone to serve any drinks. Also our room was on the ground floor and in the morning around (7 30) there was alot of banging and clattering,I'm assuming breakfast prep.

The bed was very uncomfortable- dipped in the middle and felt like your head was lower than your legs and the sink taps were awkward to turn on and off. Also you couldn’t open the window very far. I get that was for safety but made the room very warm and stuffy.

I had a feeling we would not be disappointed with our stay because we’d previously had breakfast at Rowntree Lodge when staying at different accommodation in Scarborough. We were not disappointed 😊, our room was large and well equipped. Especially loved having a fridge in our room. A lovely addition that lots of hotels do not offer. Our room was spotlessly clean. We loved everything about Rowntree. The breakfast is amazing.
