Good location

Sadly it was very noisy with the seagulls and kept me awake half the night as it was very hot so we needed the window open. Not the accommodations fault but was an issue for us.

We liked the quiet location and comfortable room

The shower was a little small and the parking / permit requirement confusing

Having a fridge

The location was spot on, and there was free parking right outside. Check-in was dead easy, done via an online form and a door code. The room was basic but practical, equipped with a large fridge, kettle, coffee, and so on.

What wasn't so great was finding hairs from a previous guest in the bathroom and on the towels.

Very quiet, seagulls not a problem! 😃 Situated in a beautiful part of Scarborough. Room was comfortable and clean , great for a quick stay over.

Great little guest house. Pleased we could take the dog with us. Seagulls very loud in the early hours but not much you can do about that, although ear plugs were supplied on our room. Excellent communications regarding check in and check out etc

Nice clean room. Superb location on south cliff assuming you would enjoy a 10-15 minute up & down walk into the town centre. Great views from south cliff. Staff very helpful and dealt with two minor issues very promptly and efficiently. Highly recommended!

How welcome I was made to feel and clean it was

There was no where to cook but I thought there was so that was on me

My first stay here in Scarborough and this guest house made my stay wonderful , super clean very comfortable my little dog was so at ease , it also was very quiet too .

From checking in to leaving everything was on point I would definitely stay here again , not far to the beach front and placed in a nice quite place some lovely walks near by also clock cafe is a nice walk away too good is delicious there if your looking for a breakfast or coffee and cake .

Excellent communication, we had a lovely stay. You had everything you needed in the room.

Decor dated and uncomfortable bed - only stayed one night

I liked the location and quietness.We could pay for a 4 days parking permit and found a place off site.There was a fridge and a TV very good Internet .

The shower was too hot for us and could not regulate the hot water very well. We didn't see any of the staff .It would have been nice to say hello at least in the morning. The sheets were black that I really did not like at all.But for the price we paid it is acceptable.

The Carlton House Guesthouse is close to the centre within walking distance. Our room was excellent, clean and comfortable. Parking outside also very handy.

2nd visit here, this time with our dog, nice little touch adding dog treats and poo bags in the foyer. Smooth check in and check out, with all the facilities you need for a couple of nights at the seaside.

Stairs couls be a problem if you struggle.

Nice decor throughout. Lovely entrance, reception area. Very modern and clean. Entering room very clean, very fresh smell. Toiletries and Towels all laid out. Fridge for beverages. Hairdryer and storage for clothes. Plenty of plugs for electricals. Phones died on a night out. Didn't have the code. Rang the ring doorbell at 2.30am and was answered immediately and got in. Was very grateful of that as we was very drunk lol. Lovely location. Went to an Indian recommended in the guest book. The tandoori. Wow. Amazing food. So good. Shop not too far Sainsburys and a pub there too for a few starter drinks to your day. Toilets clean. Very modern. Not got a negative thing to say. Scarborough a lovely place. Sad to go.

Good location

Shower pressure was really poor - barely just a dribble no matter how much you adjust it. Seagull noise was overbearing but obviously this is not a fault with the property.

Great communication via text on how to park and enter and easy to enter building. Room was easy enough to find also. Not having to check in with someone and knowing where you need to go already is nice when you just want to get your bags to your room after a long drive. Loved it being dog friendly meaning they could join us. Great location for walking into town and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. The room was a fantastic size with a fridge which was a great edition with the warm weather and also meaning we could cater to ourselves in the room and make lunches for the next day. Coffee facilities were great too, and the addition of having the fan in the room was a really great touch, and well needed in this weather! Nice big bed with adequate pillows and covers. Plugs having the USB port in them is also a great bonus.

The shower wasn’t great. Difficult to set as it was going either too hot or too cold and the pressure wasn’t great. Would like there to be maybe a small sideboard above the fridge to make the drinks properly. Hair dryer would be a nice touch too, but luckily I travelled with a small one.

There was nothing to dislike

Das Haus ist sehr heimelig eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl und willkommen. Check-in sowie Check-out sind unkompliziert. Wenn man Hilfe benötigt ist immer jemand erreichbar. Das Bett ist sehr bequem. Das Badezimmer etwas eng, man hat aber alles was man braucht.

Tv wasn’t smart tv, windows couldn’t really open to let air in, but there was a fan in the room which helped.

It was great to have a fridge in the room. Felt at home and enjoyed our stay.

A tele in the lounge down stairs would have been nice. It was a loverly area that could have been used to its full potential.

Really lovely area to sit and catch your breath as you come into the Building and there are leaflets for activities that are close by. The Room was quirky and comfortable and a decent size. There was a fridge and fan in the room which were a huge bonus because it was a scorching hot weekend. Bed was comfortable. Nice toiletries in the ensuite. Tea and coffee tray in the room (with decent tea bags!). Excellent communication from the owners before and after check in. Parking permit in the welcome pack and suggestions for local eateries. Lovely walks close by. Would definitely stay here again

Great location, lovely staff, excellent room, spotlessly clean, easy check in and out. Dog friendly and little park opposite for walks, and shops, cashpoint and take aways/coffee shop just around the corner- we loved it and we will be back, thank you Carlton House for making us and Napoleon the French Bulldog so very welcome.

Great location near the esplanade. Quiet. Comfy bed.

Easy to access, lots of useful stuff in the room including a fridge which was very useful. Very clean. Good communication from the guesthouse. Excellent location for the Scarborough Spa venue. The guest house provides complimentary ear plugs due to the noisy seagulls when you need to keep the window open. Plenty of on street parking in the adjoining roads (permit is a must). The Kin Cafe nearby is great for breakfast.

Downsides were very soft mattresses which isn't great for back problems. Could do with blackout blinds and a decent size shelf in the bathroom for washbags - had to balance both our washbags on the edge of the hand basin. It's also a shame that the lift is only for staff use (we were on the second floor, room 16). Bring an eye mask.

The beds are so comfortable. The shower was powerful and there was even a fridge!!

If there’s a fridge maybe put a microwave and some plates and cutlery and a bottle opener? Being as the fridge was so big the only things you can put in it is screwtop bottles and cans of drinks Apart from that it was great

Good location, fridge in room was a nice touch, comfort bed although a bit on the small side, quiet room. The fan in room was definitely needed in warm weather.

Lift not in use and lots of stairs, shower was next to useless, bathroom cramped for a big tall person, unable to open small windows fully to let air into room very stuffy.

Quiet location, clean and comfortable in a nice part of Scarborough. Really nice to have quiet time after 10pm. Will book again.

Was in a great location but too many steps for my wife to get to the room,which is described on home page.

The steps to the room and when we came back on Saturday night we were greeted with 5 policemen in the reception arresting a resident ,So this has put the wife off from returning to this property. Asked for a room clean on Sunday morning but when we got back the cleaner had just emptied the bin and refreshed the tea station but not cleaned bathroom 😕😕😕.When we leaving for a walk on to the beach front there was a party of people having a party in their garden so was a bit off putting to walk past the as there was about 20 people drinking and listening to music.

Bathroom is small with the sink in the bedroom. Not a major issue for me exactly but taller folk might struggle a bit.

The room was lovely, nice and clean. There was a fan in the room which was really helpful with the warm weather. It was our 2nd time coming here and have loved the place. We had an issue where the electric had tripped and the host was amazing and lovely and sorted the issue straight away.

Everything was perfect.

It was very cold in the room and we didn't realise until the next day that there was a heater in the wardrobe we could use as the radiator wasn't working.
