Very well positioned for the town centre harbour and ferries. Excellent friendly staff. The hotel very thoughtfully provides continental breakfasts from 05:30 for guests booked on the early morning Ullapool ferry. Steve in particular was a great asset to the team and made the stay memorable

My room was opposite a bar which stayed open until the early hours and the window didn't seem to keep out any of the noise

zeeeeeer veel lawaai, verschrikkelijk oud, overal huisparfum om het duffe interieur niet te kunnen ruiken, kamermeubilair uit de jaren 60, matras waarschijnlijk ook, wifi werkt bijna niet. Het 'hotel' is gelegen in de haven, doch omgeven door 3 straten die de verbinding vormen tussen de gaven en Stornoway. Kamers zijn superwarm, ventilatie is niet mogelijk. Verduistering van de ramen is niet aanwezig.

The location was great and there is a restaurant on site. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

The traffic noise outside our window was very loud. Inside, the sound of slamming doors as other guests came and left was very loud as well. We could even hear the guests on the other side of the wall switching their lights off and on!! The staff provided ear plugs along with toiletries, so noise must be a common problem at the Crown.

Able to accommodate me at the last minute after ferry cancellation. Friendly, helpful staff. Central location in town centre. Also managed to allocate me a table in the restaurant at the last minute & although there was a little wait, the meal was very good.

A little tired. There was a lot of noise from the street outside but hardly the hotel’s fault.

Creaky floorboards, noise from Guests moving in corridor and phones ringing downstairs at 1am then 3am.

The comfortable bedroom was immaculate. The condiments are excellent, the bathroom is immaculate, The beef bourguignon was particularly delicious. I'd like to commend the chef for doing a fantastic job despite being on her own due to a staff emergency. Thank you also to the man at reception who let us back into our room. My partner and I were adamant that we leave the key on the table in the room because we forgot it in the glove box, lifesaver! I apologize for missing his name. Staff are very helful and will go ouwt there way to help

We saw that there were earplugs as soon as we entered the room, and after two hours, they proved useful because all night long, boy racers were driving around in loud cars. Also the room window needs fixed could feel air comeing through the window locked.

It was noisy from the traffic outside.

There must be better places than this. Run down and extremely tired. Bed rotten, mattress like a brick - no headboard - paper thin walls. Avoid room 11 - absolutely diabolical noise, left early and slept a few hours in my motor as it was literally the worst night ever. Stuck on the busiest corner of the island being kept awake by boy racers. Food was ordered as take away. Had better pizza from farmfoods. Dark horrible room small and totally substandard for tourists never mind workers.

Hotel comodissimo se dovete prendere il traghetto il giorno dopo. In questo caso se, come noi, avevate la partenza del traghetto molto presto, possono servire la colazione (nella norma, ma deliziosa) dalle 5:30. Abbiamo mangiato nel ristorante interno che è super consigliato, perché davvero delizioso e i camerieri sono stati molto gentili.

But… everything else about this hotel is excellent. The most impressive thing is the staff group. Not only are they very able and kind individually but they also worked together as a team. I was travelling alone (apart from my little dog) having very recently lost my wife. Still quite raw I explained to my waiter, when I first arrived, why I was in the Outer Hebrides. His kindness and that of his colleagues helped me adjust to this new normal. The hotel bar is well appointed and is the only place on the island (I believe) that sells hand pulled cask beer. In all I ate the hotel six times (although I didn’t stay at the hotel the following weekend I ate there) and on each occasion the food was exceptional. It was in many ways better than food being served at four star hotels on the island. I would like to thank all the staff for their kindness and consideration but particularly Peter who went over and beyond what could be expected of him.

Situated close to the ferry terminal it’s in a very good location . The staff were helpful and we enjoyed the variety at breakfast

We didn’t like the fact that there was often no one on reception and we had to help ourselves to our key a couple of times . There didn’t seem to be many staff and the security was awful , our key was left on the desk on reception for a whole day , any one could walk in at any time off the street . The breakfast was mainly enjoyable but sometimes no one was there to get tea or coffee for guests . Definitely more staff needed

Lovely cozy hotel in the heart of Stornoway. Cozy room with cookies and hot chocolate. Lovely residential bar and a sitting room for guests. Peter and Magnus were so helpful and friendly. No lift but Peter helped us with our bag. Great location for ferry too.

The breakfast was a shambles. Continental breakfast is what the website said and instead we had a guy asking us one thing at a time what we wanted and he would then proceed to go and “have a look to see if we have that”. No menu. No clues on what they had. Far too expensive for what we were given. I won’t be returning

The location was handy for me

The room was very basic. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. I could not lock the room door from the inside. Breackfast was a very limited buffet of cereals only. No cooked food, not even eggs.

Lounge bar is cosy for lunch. Good lunch and excellent cocktails. The barmaid, Alex, was fabulous so much so we returned the following week. Yet again cocktails were perfect and Alex did not disappoint, good craic. Only downside is we can't go every week!

The hotel staff were excellent from the guy who did the breakfast to the staff behind the cocktail bar! Made me feel very welcome and helped wherever possible. The outside belies how comfortable the inside was going to be. Loved the residents lounge and the armchairs! Would recommend anyone to come just for them!

The rooms are old and dated but it was comfortable and well provisioned (even ear plugs as we were centre of town and can get rowdy on a Saturday night apparently!)

Wir hatten ein Vierbettzimmer für zwei Nächte,das mittels einer Innentür eigentlich aus zwei Zimmern bestand.Als wir von unserem Tagesausflug zurück kehrten,waren die Betten gemacht und alles war schön aufgeräumt.es war alles sauber,vor allem im Sanitärbereich.wir haben zweimal im Hotel zu Abend gegessen und waren mit den angebotenen Speisen top zufrieden.beim Frühstück konnte man wählen.scottish (gegen Aufpreis) or condinental, wir entschieden uns einmal für scottish full,mussten aber nichts bezahlen,weil ein kleiner Sanitärschaden in unserem Zimmer auftrat und eine Bezahlung deshalb nicht erfolgen musste.das Personal war äußerst nett und zuvorkommend.

Breakfast was excellent and by far the best of 3 hotels we stayed in over the week.

hotel is very close to ferry terminal with public parking across the road. Friendly restaurant/bar with pizzas and pub food. Cold breakfast choices including coffee available from 5.30 am

Very over priced for rooms and food. Bar prices higher than Central London which suggest the owners are only interested in money and not their cliental. Also having to pay for a cooked breakfast with a very high room price when it should be included

Very dated. Room was extremely small, i.e., double bed in a single room, we could barely move around the bed. Mattress needs changing, it was really noisy when you turned. Black mildew round the shower. Blind fell off the window as soon as we tried to close it, with no other window covering it was bright all night with street lighting outside.

Our room was small but comfortable. Lovely hot shower and super thick towels. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was central right on the harbour. We had pizza here for dinner and breakfast, both of which were delicious. Great value for money

soundproofing was almost non existent. Window did not keep out any sound and you could hear people talking through the walls. Hotel supplied ear plugs so must be aware of it.

Friendly and welcoming staff

Handy for town centre and ferry. All areas were clean and well stocked. Staff were friendly, welcoming and worked together like a family.

as Hotel hat meine Erwartungen leider nicht erfüllt. Das Zimmer war stark abgewohnt und dringend renovierungsbedürftig. Besonders der Teppichboden machte einen sehr unhygienischen Eindruck – durchgetreten und verschmutzt. Auch im Pub war das Personal nicht durchgehend freundlich, was den Aufenthalt zusätzlich getrübt hat. Insgesamt kein angenehmes Erlebnis, daher kann ich dieses Hotel nicht weiterempfehlen.

The staff were very nice and friendly, especially the young South African man who checked us in. The room was very nice and clean and is in a excellent condition.

Nothing, our stay was very good and I would have no hesitation to stay again.

Its basic but clean and good value

Went here on my partner's birthday 5th September. She is vegetarian and we had had a decent meal here the previous night so as we could take the dog, we decided to go again. Unfortunately the service has to be described as the worst I have experienced in many years. My partner ordered a vegetarian salad and found a lump of meat in it. When pointed out to the waitress ger answer was "oh". She then immediately turned to others and asked if they were waiting for a table. Not even an apology. The barmen who were behind the bar on that night were unable to cope with very much and one could be described as useless all together. Even when I was waiting to pay I was the only person waiting at the bar for what was too long and then another couple came up and he tried to attend to them first! Until I let him know that I wasn't pleased.

The hotel is in a good location, handy for the shops with a large car park nearby. The room was comfortable and staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good too.

If staying here on a Saturday night, refuse to stay in Room 16 which is directly above the live music room. The staff do not tell you this when checking in. Even tho I’ve written a letter of complaint, the response was just mere platitudes. There are far nicer establishments to stay in Stornoway.

Expensive for what it was

Etablissement très bien situé, à environ dix minutes du port et près du chateau de Stornoway. Le petit déjeuné était copieux et très bon (disponible à partir de 5h30 pour ceux qui prennent le premier ferry pour Ullapool), la chambre comfortable avec une grande salle de bain. Le manager m'a aussi aidé à enlevé une nuit de mon séjour car je n'ai pas pu arrivé à la date prévu à cause d'une tempête.

La connection wi-fi n'était pas très performante

The hotel is well placed in the middle of town. Its comfortable. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast was good. All in all a good hotel.

It's old and very creaky. The room was cold and radiators were not on.

Didn't think the room and food were good value for money. The Internet was intermittent and kept throwing you out, so you had to keep logging in which was not good when trying to work.

The location was convenient.

Overpriced for what it is. Continental breakfast was very basic, could have had pastries and better stocked fruit.
