A snug room in which it was almost impossible to circumnavigate the bed. The double bed occupied most of the floor space. This room needs a single bed for single occupancy only. To charge for a double was very unjust.

We chose to stay here for our anniversary as we had stayed here before and it was lovely. The food and drink were good, nice breakfast, comfortable room and nice shower. Staff were polite and attentive.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent for what I needed. Bed was comfy, shower was nice and powerful and the bathroom a good size. Overall very clean. The food in the restaurant was very good and the service was excellent. Parking behind the hotel was easy to access

The floors in my room were very creaky and so was the cupboard. TV was a bit glitchy in the evening and lost signal quite a lot. The restaurant was good but prices seemed quite high although this appears to be happening everywhere now, so is probably just a sign of the times!

Our room 302 had very limited head room. You could not walk around the bed. I kept hitting my head in bath room.

Ser zuvorkommendes Personal und sehr nett, in allen Belangen. Die Lage ist perfekt, man kann ist zu Fuss sofort im Ortskern und mit dem Auto in wenigen Minuten bei allen Sehenswürdigkeiten, welche der New Forest bietet. Das Essen im eigenen Restaurant ist fantastisch!

Zimmer war eher etwas klein. Wenn man viel Gepäck hat, wird es eng.

We were felt welcome on arrival, professional approach from the staff. Room clean, bathroom spotless, relaxed atmosphere.

Tiny room originally with unworkable bathroom changed to suite and paid a supplement which was much better . Staff were polite and helpful,

Lovely comfortable room. Friendly staff. Restaurant and breakfast room were decorated lovely as was the whole hotel.

Air conditioning wasn't working but didn't impact our stay as a fan was provided. Bath was filling up as showers were taken due to a blockage somewhere. But didn't impact our stay.

The staff especially Paul were very nice and helpful.

This is a nice hotel that needs a little bit of refurbishment. The breakfast was average fir a 4 star hotel, and the pastries quite dry.

We have stayed here multiple times. Very convenient location, near lots of great restaurants and places to visit.

We went to the library one night for drinks, it took 40 minutes for 2 cocktails to come out - don’t bother there are better bars down the road to drink in. Our personal fan which we took ourselves was taken from the hotel (easy mistake) but no one should have even been in our room. This was dealt with well the following day by a friendly member of staff who explained the issue, and returned the fan to us, obviously leaving us without our fan for the night though and someone else using it. But the day it happened the member of staff we came across was extremely rude about it, shrugging “what do you want me to do”. An apology would have been a good start instead of making us feel like liars. Since this happened and returning home, the hotel has been ignoring us. Customer service had let this hotel down this time. So disappointing. Room is hot - so take your own fan but be sure to label it or put it away during the day so it doesn’t get pinched. The rooms are extremely hot where it is an old hotel. Such a shame this has happened and not been dealt with correctly, after breaching privacy. We love this hotel but have little faith how much they value customers after this situation not being dealt with.

The garden was very nice. Ample parking. The place was spotless. The library was a nice room to spend time in. The kind staff really made the hotel.

The road is rather noisy and the sounds from the room above woke us early each morning. Better sound proofing is advised. On the first morning the buffet had run out of croissants by 9:15 The restaurant is extremely expensive for very small portions at dinner - one of the smallest fillets of fish I've ever had with two bits of broccoli and two potatoes costs £28. I think the hotel could do with some improvements. Thankfully the staff are brilliant.

Our room had a small double and the safety catch on the one window that opened meant that in the heatwave it was stifling even with a fan. No air conditioning due to age of property I guess

Great location. Well priced. Good bar. The hotel staff were friendly and kind, and allowed us to store our bikes overnight in a secure room. A great place to explore the New Forest from.

The room was rather hot even with the air conditioning on. Found it hard to sleep as a result. However, it was extremely hot on the weekend we visited, so I doubt this is a problem normally. Think the breakfast quality was decent but could be improved a little, especially the hot food.

We had a small room at the very top of the hotel, and with the hot weather and the faulty air conditioning made sleeping in the room uncomfortable to sleep at night

On ne pouvait pas ouvrir complètement les fenêtres. La canapé lit inconfortable pour nos filles. Nous avons payé pour une chambre pour 4 et rappelé par deux fois avant de venir que nous avions deux enfants mais un enfant a été oublié et n'avait ni oreiller ni serviettes. Heureusement que nos filles sont minces et aiment dormir collées car le canapé lit était étroit et très inconfortable. Elles ont eu chaud ! Le petit-déjeuner est moyen. Pas d'ascenseur : demandez une chambre au premier étage et qui donne sur le jardin. Normalement, vous pourrez vraiment ouvrir les fenêtres (contrairement à celles du second) et vous n'aurez pas le bruit de la rue le matin.

Really nice hotel, very well presented. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice big room with everything we needed, bathroom was very clean with a really good shower. Big car park, which is a bit unusual for a hotel in the middle of the town. Easy to walk to the town centre and on to the new forest, without the need to drive. Lets us check in a bit early, which was helpful. Breakfast was very tasty, with lots of options

The hotel is right next to the main ring road though Lyndhurst, which at peak holiday times means 2 lanes of queuing traffic right outside the door at all most all times. For a hotel with a large car park, it was disappointing that there were no EV charging points at all. The 2 for 1 cocktail deal is not very clear (that it only includes a few of the options).

Staff were lovely, hotel very beautiful, room was clean and had nice furnishings and there was parking in a very central location, but it was difficult to carry heavy bags up quite a few steps into the hotel. Breakfast was 'okay'

The AC in the room didn't work and I was not informed about this until checking in (it had been broken for a while) There was one tiny window that could be opened and a small fan in the room and it was sweltering. The toilet didn't flush which was really frustrating.

The breakfast was great, the location perfect and the property is beautiful.

The air conditioning in my room was not working, it was actually blowing hot air and the windows did not open. The bedroom was like an oven, it was so uncomfortable some of my makeup items melted and had to be thrown away. It was impossible to sleep.

Stairs, our second day the lift wasn’t working. Air conditioning wasn’t working in bedroom or extractor fan in the bathroom - very disappointing! A small room fan was provided!

Our bedroom at the top of the building was incredibly stuffy and there was only one modest fan. It was challenging to sleep. When we mentioned this at check out the response wasn’t great !

Schönes, altes Hotel, zentral im kleinen Ort. Zimmer sind schön. Allerdings sind die Zimmer zur Straße sehr laut, da hier direkt vor der Tür der Durchgangsverkehr für den ganzen Ort durchfährt. Es gibt eine Klimaanlage. Das Frühstücksbuffet bietet full englisch Breakfast, aber auch Joghurt, Müsli, Obst und Wurst und Käse. Sehr schöner Gartenbereich mit gemütlichen Sitzecken. Parkplätze stehen ausreichend zur Verfügung.

Durchgangsverkehr direkt vor der Tür, schlafen geht nur mit geschlossenem Fenster.

Lovely old building with lots of character, and plenty of parking in the centre of town. Friendly polite staff and a nice garden and lounge for cocktails from the bar. Very comfortable Bed and pillows, excellent shower. Excellent full English breakfast, and other options, gluten free toast available on request too.

No Air conditioning which is understandable as its a historic building so certainly not a complaint, just something to be aware of when booking during a heatwave! A Fan was in the room which helped!

The cooked breakfast wasn't remotely hot - the self serve plates were not hot and the hot food was marginally warm which was so disappointing as there is no excuse for a cooked breakfast to be offered this way. The only offering that retained some heat was the baked beans! The artisan white loaf of bread offered when self serving (cutting) was too crumbly when being toasted therefore had to resort to another bread on offer.

Be g on the 3rd floor, although a lift, old gated, if left open was unable to call, also staff using it for linen made the wait somewhat longer, not great if you have a physical disability!

Wow the staff were so friendly and efficient. Real hospitality! The breakfast was very well organised and delicious too.

Terrible experience. Rude staff from the start. A misrepresentation of the location, you think it's set on lovely grounds and quite, it's right on the noisey high road. Breakfast is diabolical, and don't ask for help with towels, etc, as you'll waiting forever! Never again!

When I’m on vacation I want to feel welcomed and unbothered. The receptionist had the worst vibes. She was very rude and unfriendly.

Great hotel, in a great location, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Lovely four poster bedroom, with good tea & coffee facilities in the room. Clean, and spacious.

The four-poster bed felt structurally quite unsteady, which affected my confidence in using it. The toilet lid was also broken and should be repaired or replaced. At breakfast, only filtered coffee was available; I would have appreciated the option of a cappuccino, as that is my preferred choice.

Cramped and stuffy, couldn’t open windows. Bathroom v small could hardly move and putting a bath in there made it hazardous as there was barely room to safely climb in and out of the shower. Had to get out of bed to turn off lights - ridiculous

Sehr schönes, altes Gebäude mit ausreichend Parkplätzen. Unserem Wunsch nach einem ruhigen Zimmer hinten raus wurde nachgekommen. Vorne zur Straße nicht empfehlenswert. Historischer Charme, schöner Frühstücksraum.

Frühstück in Buffetform, könnte noch etwas verbesserungswürdig sein. Kaffee am 2. Tag superstark, selbst mit Milch kaum trinkbar. Rührei nicht so toll.

A very good stay. Staff excellent. Very attentive. Very central to facilities and within easy walking distance of the start of the forest. Remarkably quiet considering it's position to the town. Would stay again.

The room was unbearably hot unfortunately, a good few degrees hotter than the ambient temperature (i.e. outside and in corridors). This because all of the windows were sealed shut except for one which had a limiting strap on it so couldn't be opened more than a crack. Didnt sleep a wink.

Great suite, really clean. Staff were ALL so welcoming. The dinner at the restaurant was superb again excellent service at the table. I had two bikes to store and this was no issue they were kept safely for both days in a secure locked room which we could access at anytime.

The only downside was the parking quite tight and spaces were limited.

People working there need to be kinder and more empathetic. The room wasn't like the one shown in the booking app. My little window was blocked by a scaffold. Nobody told me that or offered any compensation for not even having access to natural light.

The decor & plenty of lounge seats. All the staff were very attentive & pleasant

The lift- being the oldest in Europe it was quite temperamental & barely big enough for 2 people let alone luggage! . As I have mobility issues & can't climb flights of stairs, I had emailed the hotel beforehand to see if it had ground floor rooms & I was told there weren't any but we would have a room near the lift. However we were allocated a room the furthest away from the lift with a bath rather than shower, which I would not have been able to use. Thankfully a very helpful Peter moved us to another room with a shower.

Breakfast - Was average. Good enough, but certainly nothing special. Hotel - Great location, interesting and historic building, lovely garden area. The dinner on Saturday evening was excellent.

Room - No fridge, instant coffee, no bottled water, no robes or slippers. We were in some of the hotel's most expensive rooms, and they didn't even have a Nespresso machine. Nobody drinks instant coffee nowadays (at least not by choice)

My stay at the Crown Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff were professional and genuinely helpful, making me feel welcome throughout my visit. My room was impeccably clean, regal in its decor, and incredibly comfortable, the perfect place to unwind. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing, rounding off what was a truly memorable experience. I would highly recommend the Crown Hotel to anyone looking for a refined and luxurious stay.

Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Had a fabulous evening meal of fish and chips, best I’ve eaten! The staff in restaurant and bar were fabulous

We had a compact double room (119) not realizing that meant a minute double bed!! It definitely wasn’t a double. Hotel details also said it had aircon, but our room didn’t, it just had a fan . So between a tiny bed for 2 people and no aircon on a very hot day and night my husband and I could not sleep.

The cooked breakfast was very tasty, and the selection on the breakfast as a whole was very good. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

We stayed on a Thursday night which was bell ringing practice at the church next door, and it went on for a couple of hours and was very loud even with the window closed. I realise the church activities are not within the control of the hotel, but maybe some rubber seals on the windows to make them a bit more airtight would help reduce the outside noise.

Our room had a small, high window, making it difficult to see out and quite dark in the room. In addition, there was scaffolding up outside the window, making it even darker.

Room was disappointing not like I expected from the picture. Booked a superior but was given a family room with the 3rd bed taken out. The room was tired in need of decorating. The bath/shower is definitely a health hazard, difficult to get in and out the shower with nothing on the wall to hold onto, it was also very cold. Definately not a 4 star.
