Amazing place, old building, unique, homely. Big room, the most special terrace. Amazing location just near the square. Very very beatiiful place
Nothing. I wish we have another chance to visit there.
High on the hill just off the square in what feels like a family home.
Felt like we were in a family’s home.
Beautiful building, secure acess, easy to drop bags off in main square, good parking nearby, ice machine was a bonus, well located, family feel, lovely staff! And a wow view !!!
Nothing!
Unbeatable location and beautiful accommodations.
Nothing
Everything. Amazing locations, beautiful staff and owners, we came back after 10 years and it was even better this time around. Honestly the best view from a hotel you will find.
I’m being picky here but the bed was very firm, other than that I couldn’t recommend any higher.
Location was fantastic. Staff were lovely. Aircon was good and rooms spacious enough. Amazing view from the rooftop terrace. Good value for money.
Pillows and bed was ok but not super comfy. It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the bedroom but overall really lovely place.
Perfect. Met owner. He was wonderful
beatiful room
Staff could be more helpful
Wonderful views
noting
Beautiful restored palazzo in the center of old town. Wonderful staff, comfortable and excellent breakfast

After some research we chose Meuble Il Riccio as our "base" in Tuscany for five days and cannot say enough about the inn, location, room (amazing views) and family/staff. Quiet, but only blocks away from great restaurants and shopping and wineries. They also helped with recommendations - all of which were perfect. Montepulciano itself is just the right size - not too large or small, and we felt more like normal residents and not tourists there. We love this place and will be back !
Wonderful family run hotel in the heart of Montepulciano. The most beautiful view from the balcony. All the staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
Very central. Beautiful room. Fantastic view over the Tuscan landscape. Friendly staff.
Nothing
This hotel is right in the center of Montepulciano. It is a beautiful historic property with very comfortable rooms. We had a suite and they created a small bedroom for our daughter in the loft. Host are amazing. Very clean and close to all major historic sites. Will come back.
Excellent location, super view from our window and a comfortable room, especially for my wife who has some mobility issues.
Stairs (although not many) to the room and one would have thought the water in the room would be included in the price. That's penny pinching. Could have done with a proper coffee machine too.
Very central location, helpful staff, room with a view!! Help with parking
Beautiful updated rooms with incredible views located in the central part of town. Extremely clean! Updated bathrooms. Great breakfast (for extra fee). Very responsive staff.
Nothing
From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted with the home. Gio was so friendly and welcoming. Our rooms were beautiful, clean, comfortable, and our views were out of this world.
There is nothing we did not like.
Owners and staff were incredibly helpful for finding transportation to accommodate an older limited mobility person. Also very helpful with suggestions for viewing area. I will refer to this accommodation as a “church” since all the staff and owners were “saints” IMO, going out of their way to be helpful and meet my needs.
Location and the view, staff was also very nice
Bed was very uncomfortable and parking was farther than expected
Centrally located in town. Beautiful decor with lots of unique-to-owners historical details. Comfortable well appointed rooms. Wonderful morning breakfast at modest cost. Delightful owners.
Parking is quite a distance from hotel (you can unload/load at hotel, only park for 15 minutes).
Location
Very difficult to get from parking lot the property. They need a shuttle service and employee to help with luggage, Not a property for elderly or handicapped.
Very nice and reasonably priced hotel just off the square in the old town. Excellent facility and staff. Too bad our schedule didn't allow for another night
The check-in with a car was a little confusing at first, but it all worked out fine.
Great stay. Clean property right in center of town. Great view from room. Staff was super helpful
Not the most comfortable bed
Great people very very accommodating. Very helpful. They arrange taxis for us if it was a place that was difficult to walk to fascinating area. You’re right in the heart of it besides everything being perfect they even had a lovely breakfast for €10 a person super accommodating what a great area.
We loved our stay! The location was perfect. The views, especially from the lovely rooftop terraces, were stunning. The staff was friendly and helpful. If there was a way to rate this property even higher, we would! 😊
The location was incrediable. It is right across from the Petti Palace.
Nothing! Tge hotel was great and good value.
Right off the main plaza! We stayed in a junior suite and had a glass of wine at sunset—so beautiful!!
The breakfast was average. Boiled eggs and pastries . Would have loved more fruit (berries, bananas, etc) granola, etc. But coffee was good and pasties nice.
Beautiful location and setting. Love the courtyard entry! Staff were very friendly. The view outside our window was amazing.
“Full bed” was 2 twins next to each other; mattresses very firm. Our room was pretty small. (Suggest booking larger room especially if staying more than 2 nights.)
we recently had the pleasure of staying in this beautifully restored small inn in the heart of stunning Montepulciano. We were with two other couples and they all were very pleased with the central location right off Piazza Grande, the unique and well furnished rooms, the welcoming owners and staff and plentiful breakfast options. This was a great home base location to explore nearby sights in Tuscany. We would gladly return to this charming inn.
Location could not be better
Initially getting into the property if you never been there before could be a little confusing after that no problems
The only reasons I couldn’t give this place 5 stars is due to the uncomfortable bed/flat pillows, and tough location to park at, but otherwise this place is delightful. For starters, the location of the 10ish room hotel is perfect - just off the main piazza. You can eat or shop anywhere easily from here. Second, the service is top notch, whether you need questions answered or the wonderful breakfast for 10 Euro each morning. Regarding the location- everything in Montepulciano is on a steep hill. We are young so this was fine, but it wouldn’t be good if you have any trouble walking. If you drive and need to park, you’ll need to get directions from the front desk because it is not easy to navigate. You’ll end up walking 5-10 minutes uphill from the parking spot back to the hotel. Overall, a nice stay!
Giorgio, Ivana and their staff were so welcoming. It was amazing to be able to stay in their family’s generational home. The hotel is gorgeous and could not be in a better location for visiting montepulciano. We had a wonderful stay.
Location is excellent just off the piazza. Beautiful building.
Great location and the roof top terrace was incredible!
The bed was not comfortable
One of a kind historic property. Beautiful, comfortable, amazing views, great breakfast… best of all , run by a kind family who’s been there a great while!
Parking is down hill, but a small price to pay for such an incredible and unique place
This place stole my heart! Truly breathtaking. The views, the location, the old world decor, just perfect right down to the staff. The only thing disappointing was we didn’t get to stay longer. We will definitely be back! This is a must stay while in Montepulciano!!
The location was perfect. It was also very easy to reach by car and they had reserved parking available in a city parking lot. The room was impressive.
Everything about this hotel is wonderful. I didn't want to leave. I had a breathtaking view of the valley, sunrises included. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast couldn't have been better. It is at the top of the town, steps from the Piazza Grande, so everything you want to see is within walking distance. Montepulciano is easy to get lost in, but that's part of the fun. I was in Corsica and Italy for six weeks, and this was my favorite place of all.
We stayed at Il Riccio last month for four nights. It’s a lovely hotel with a friendly staff. We were greeted by Gio, the owner, who escorted us to room 32. It’s beautiful, and the balcony has a panoramic view. The mosaic in the courtyard was the site of the family chapel. The bed was comfortable, and we slept so well. We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning. The cappuccinos and macchiato’s were delicious, as were the apricot croissants. The hotel is in the city center, which makes it very accessible to many of the Montepulciano sights. Be prepared to walk up and down a lot of hills! We highly recommend Il Riccio; you won’t be disappointed.
Stanza perfetta e colazione eccellente
Absolutely everything about this beautiful place 😍 The view from our suite was out of this world 🌎 spectacular ✨️ We loved the breakfast and the large size room, too.
The hair dryer was slow, and the tea bags/sugar weren't refilled daily. Besides that it was perfect.
The hotel location is just around the corner of piazza Grande. The hotel is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The owner Gio even shows my hubby to the room which can took the fabulous photos! Montepulciano is a medieval hilltop town, so it’s hilly but the views are stunning! This family run hotel preserved the charms of this magical place and its beauty; therefore shouldn’t be missed. There are lot of restaurants around, and if you are not sure where to eat, the staff can help to recommend some to you! After two nights stay, we love it very much and will be back!
The location and the small hotel style.
Not a thing
did not have breakfast , location was excellent , the hotel itself was very nice with great views from the window
the parking is a long uphill walk to the hotel , Goggle maps has the wrong location , its actually farther
Booking asks too many questions! It makes me decline to give you reviews. Please accept that iI Riccio was very, very good and don't make me answer all these other questions!
Everything, location and view was amazing
This was one of my favorite hotel stays ever! The staff was warm and charming. The building and lobby were authentic and beautiful, like an old palace. Our room had the best view of the rolling Tuscany hills I have ever seen.
Very good accessibility room. Elevator to breakfast room. Accessible bathroom, high bed with space underneath. 4 steps into the hotel but there is a device to get a wheelchair inside. You can drive close to entrance to unload then park car in free hotel lot. Driving on these hills is challenging but possible.
Montepulciano is a medieval hill town, lovely views of countryside but challenging with lots of steep streets.
Absolutely beautiful location. Perfectly quirky and wonderfully historical décor. Wonderful staff and great history in the family. The best location! Very professional. Good value for money.
Nothing. This was our second time here and we knew what we’d get and came back for more. Hard to do better in Montepulciano.
Wonderful service, comfortable accommodations, easy to access with the elevator or stairs, gorgeous views, dedicated parking spot nearby.
Absolutely breathtaking! We had wonderful views from each of our rooms. The location was perfect
We had a wonderful stay. The location is unbeatable— walking distance to everything we wanted to see. And incredible views! The property itself is beautiful, very well maintained, and exactly as described. Communication with the host was easy, responsive, and extremely helpful throughout. Highly recommend
The staff were so responsive, helpful and kind. The room itself and the view were amazing
Nice historical building. Comfortable, clean and spacious room.
Nothing
Hotel location
Trying to figure out location of the designated parking
Lovely stay at Meublé il Riccio! Great location in Montepulciano with beautiful views and a very charming atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything was well taken care of. A great choice for a short stay — would definitely recommend!
Friendly hosts. Beautiful building and view from room terrace, #132. Close to shopping and restaurants.
Could have had robes and washcloths. Shower stall was small. Driving to hotel was tricky, finding the parking lot is a challenge.
Stayed 3 nights in Montepulcino. Hotel adjacent to the Piazza, pretty amazing to stay at the top of the hill in the historic part of the city. Room was beautiful with a nice view of the Tuscan countryside. We did a day trip to Montalcino and Siena but the best part was just wandering down the old streets of Montepulcino. The breakfast was an additional 10 Euros pps and included fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries. Ate at Romantico and Ristorante Ai 4 Venti, both were very nice. Pizza at Re Al Quadrato where they served wines from Trudie and Stings Farmhouse. We were hoping to stop buy there on our travels but didn’t make it so it was nice to at least taste the wine.
Breakfast very good. The pastries and cakes made each by Ivana are delicious! The apple strudel was my favorite
Everything was as expected.
Breakfast was wonderful, very quaint room and the staff was very welcoming.
There was no hair conditioner offered in the bathroom with the soaps and shampoo.
Breakfast was fine, a lot of pastries and they didn’t communicate that it wasn’t included when we checked in as most European hotels are.
The beds and pillows were really hard, it hurt my back after the first night which made the second night really uncomfortable
There are pros and cons to the location. It's extremely centrally located, so a fantastic location for exploring the town of Montepulciano. If you have a car, it's a little complicated. First, to find the hotel and where you're supposed to park (right in the main piazza) for unloading is a little challenging. Once we realized we could just enter the main piazza with the car, it was ok. And they explained how to find the parking lot. Ultimately, it worked out fine. Just be prepared to be a little confused at first. Being able to stay in the center of the town was worth the parking situation.
Comforto, limpeza e localização

We loved our stay at Meuble II Riccio! The room was comfortable and the view from was amazing. We loved seeing the family photos and hearing about the history of the family who has run the hotel for years. It was a gem of a place. Would definitely stay here again!
Personale assolutamente cortese e competente. Location suggestiva in pieno centro, posizione davvero invidiabile.
We found out about this place through Rick Steve’s’ guidebook. We booked it for a December trip to Tuscany. We stayed for two nights and focused on exploring Montepulciano itself as well as going for the Heart of Tuscany drive in the surrounding neighborhoods. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is close to the main piazza in town, away from the busier part of town for a quieter stay. It is a family run place. The staff is extremely friendly. We booked one of the rooms with a balcony. Room had heater and ac equipped. There is also a thick blanket add-on in case heater is not enough for you. The view from the balcony was just 👌. Watching the winter fog rolling in in the morning and dissipate at night is nothing short of magical (despite owner joking about my bad luck for coming in on a foggy day 😁). See attached photos taken from the balcony. I would stay here again on my next Toscana trip.
Posizione ottima, in pieno centro.
The property is beautiful, well kept, excellent location and short distance to nearby places. Fabulous hospitality provided by the staff and the owners.
The hair dryer takes too long to dry the hair.
Wonderful place to stay. Great breakfast bar with homemade pastries and cakes. The staff was wonderful, and meeting Giorgio & Ivana was a pleasure. Rooms were very clean and functional. We were privileged to view the car collection that Mr. Giogio has accumulated!
This hotel defines family hospitality. Rooms are scrupulously clean, the views out the window are always enchanting, and the v it ew from the rooftop is magnificent. We were a party of six two couples in rooms and one in the available apartment which we used as a gathering space. The apartment is modern and fully furnished very comfortable. Our visit was for 10 days and we used Montepulciano as a base for day trips with a local guide. Dining possibilities are all close and excellent. Ask hotel to make reservations for you. This was our third visit to Montepulciano but the 1st for this gem, in the future the only hotel we will use.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The location was perfect for our situation. Our room was over the top- clean, spacious per Italy standards, Decor and accommodations were just lovely and the views are breath taking. We just wish we had more time to explore Montepulciano and what it has to offer. Would definitely plan to return and allow for more time to take in all the sights of this beautiful location. Would also definitely plan to stay at this hotel and recommend it to others.
We did not have more time to experience Montepulciano. Unfortunately the weather was also a problem- high winds and rain prevented us going far from our hotel. The parking situation is tough but understand the limitations due to the hills and tight area surrounding the city.
Beautiful historic property. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Comfortable large room with outstanding views of the Tuscan hills.
Beautiful suite with spectacular view right next to Piazza Maggiore. Well restored gorgeous palazzo. Lovely pastries, cheeses and meat, fruit and cereal at breakfast. Owner was very nice to chat with (I’m working on learning Italian!).
