Reviewed Jul 17, 2026I just love everything about blue door Apts. The location is perfect, spotless clean, bed is so comfortable with decent pillows lol. I've stayed 2 years in a row and will continue to do so next yr and yr after that.
If I really had to say something I didn't like it would have to be that it can be a little noisey traffic wise, but really it's not a big problem for me.

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026The apartment was newly decorated. Very clean and beds were comfortable. There was water provided in the fridge and ice in the freezer. The included breakfast was delicious in the Shimna cafe. Staff were very friendly.
The double glazing was very poor. Quite a lot of outside noise even with the window closed. The rooms are very bright. Maybe some thicker curtains would help? We had earplugs and eyemasks which solved these issues.

Maybe acoustic glass would be great, traffic noise on the main street was a bit of an issue but the regular beep beep beep of the pedestrian crossing just outside was not a great way to waken, and it continued....

Reviewed May 17, 2026The breakfast in the cafe next door was very good. I was in Newcastle for a conference at a Hotel and the Blue Door was a few minutes walk away. It was also convenient for local restaurants anf gor an evening walk along the Sea Front.
I had some difficulty opening the drop box. However, someone came quickly to help me when I rang the mobile number on the booking form. The staff in the cafe were helpful when I left the key back with them on checking out/

The outside noise at night. We did stay on a Friday and Saturday so maybe quieter during the week. There was someone driving their car around the streets with a very noisy exhaust until 3am.....due to this I dud nit sleep much during our stay

So difficult to find, but a very helpful gentleman went out of his way to help us and told us where to park the car , which was close by and free,noisy at night due to traffic, minor issues. Double bed and sofa bed entirely my fault brother and sister, no linen for sofa bed.

Reviewed Apr 17, 2026The apartment is beautiful and very spacious living room/dinning and kitchen. Nice bedroom and a large bathroom. Nicely decorated and very clean. Dana who is the host is just so likable and pleasant, made us very happy we had made the right choice of accommodation. She also has the Shimna cafe downstairs and her staff are just as friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and menu was good. I have no hesitation in recommending her properties to family and friends. And we will definitely be booking again. The property is on the main street and the beach is behind the property. And plenty of woodland and mountain walks .
We didn't stay longer....next time 👍

Reviewed Apr 10, 2026It is a home from home.Clean and comfortable bed.Breakfast was outstanding in the Shimna Cafe & the staff cannot do enough for you.I booked this for my 2 sons who stayed 1 night to join the rest of my family.Dana is a great host and we book a few times a year .Central location .Park your car at the seafront carpark and it’s fine all night.
No complaints as it’s a fabulous apartment .

when we arrived the apartment was very cold and didn't really heat up the first night we stayed. the heat could have been turned on for us before we arrived, after that it was fine. the bathroom was a bit cold and could benefit from some floor mats. there was no tea towel to dry dishes when washed.

The ONLY slightly negative comment I would make would be regarding the windows. I do appreciate it's an exposed location and the weather wasn't great during our stay, but I think the windows could do with a service/adjustment and/or new seals.

The staff at the cafe for breakfast were all very friendly & welcoming & that was accompanied by a lovely breakfast.

Reviewed Jan 1, 2026I liked the location, it was close to many food places and a 10 minute walk from a Tesco and a spar. I liked the room, it was comfortable, clean and welcoming. I liked the staff, they were very receptive over text message to any queries I had.
I didn’t like the fact the property claimed to have WiFi included but the only network you could join was a free cafe WiFi, my girlfriend struggled to sleep as the bedroom is directly beside a noisy crosswalk, I slept fine, but keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper.

The smaller bedroom with double bed has a very big dip in it and it's quite uncomfortable if there's 2 of you. It was hard to sleep in it. The bed in the bigger room was good.
