Reviewed Jul 24, 2026It was situated close to where I needed to go - to a funeral. The food (with the exception of breakfast) was good.
The hotel did not have towels so I was late for a funeral - almost missed it and yet I flew to Durban for this sole purpose. Had I known, I would have carried towels from Jhb. The manager, Aaron(who refused to provide his surname) wanted to offer us a free meal as compensation for no towels BUT he told the staff in charge of laundry that they will pay for our meals!!!! Ridiculous that a hotel does not have towels and expects to deduct a meal from their staff. They do not provide tissues or hand towels either. The breakfasts are mediocre. There's only 3 options and to eat the same breakfast 3 days in a row was boring.

I am not happy . We lost a watch and worst part they didn’t want to show us the cctv. The manager said she will send us the cctv, till now we are still waiting. And manager could even want to listen to our concern. And that watch was very expensive. But it’s fine

Brittania's location is a bit dodgy. The Friday night people were making noise in the passages. We had drunk people in the room next door and no one from staff came to silence them - it was disruptive. I didn't like the breakfast as it's a very simple breakfast and not a full english one which I expected.

1. The physical location of the hotel is not appealing. It is right at the side of a very busy highway and an interchange where vehicle traffic is high. 2. The vehicular noise was unbearable especially during the night on a busy weekend. Sleeping under such conditions was very difficult. 3. There was no chair or desk in the room which made it difficult to do remote work. 4. The complimentary breakfast portions were so little. 5. There was no microwave, water kettle or fridge in the room. No teas or coffees in the room.

Reviewed Jun 11, 2026The room was just standard room and had most of the things you would find in such a room. Secured the placed at a special prize because it was during the off peak time.
Breakfast was served without juice or even water. Treatment from person labeled as the manager on the day left so much to be desired. If she was a trainee manager, it is understandable hopefully she will grow after our encounter. The location of the hotel is not a good one. The design of the hotel doesn't cater for people with disabilities (especially wheelchair)and old citizens and yet I saw an old citizen struggling on the stairs. Thanks to the people who were accompanying her because they could support her while walking down the stairs.

My experience was horrible! 1. The room was near their furniture dump site and the smoking area of the hotel. If you get room 20 run for the hills. Worst room. 2. The staff there is not friendly at all. It’s like they don’t want to be there. They are rude when you call reception. Terrible attitude from the staff in general. 3. Breakfast? They should stop serving it if they don’t want to. The food is terrible! It comes already dishes up for you in a weird looking plate! The cutlery is not maintained, it’s old and looks dirty! The cup for the tea? Dented! Why would you serve someone in plates and cups like that? 4. The location is absolutely horrible! 5. There are small lizards in the property! I had one in my room and they said “these are everywhere, it’s normal for these things to be in the room. They are not going to harm you.” So I was supposed to stay in a room where there is a small lizard? Even when I told them I have a fear of reptiles. They truly do not care!!

Reviewed May 25, 2026Upon arriving in Durban we got a little lost finding the property. We called reception and we were assisted by the kind ladies who kept checking on us until we arrived safely.
The room had one bed, despite receiving a free room upgrade from the App. We had booked for 2 adults, in the room there was only one bottle of water, one soap and body wash.On Saturday morning we waited forever for someone to come and take our order for the standard breakfast. We then had to wait again for what felt like an eternity for the food. When it did arrive the coffee was cold. Sunday morning was the worst, we waited for close to an hour to receive our order, this is after we had waited 30 minutes to get our order taken. The coffee was cold again.
