Staff very friendly
Nothing
For the price, good sized twin room, two good nights' sleep and a good shower. 50-min walk or 10-min bus to Edgbaston. Good food/drink in the pub and supermarkets and restaurants close by. Free parking is very helpful - just remember to enter your car reg on the tablet
Walls are quite thin
Comfortable, clean, functional, excellent value for money, good cafes, craft beer bars and curry houses nearby, supermarket opposite, friendly staff, car parking, bus stop close by for frequent 10 minute ride to Edgbaston cricket ground
No cooked breakfast available when we were there, evening menu entirely consists of burgers.
Stayed here twice before, great location, good food and beer, friendly staff, nice clean room and great price 😁
Nothing negative to say.
Welcome from staff was friendly and efficient both hotel and and in the bar/restaurant. The bathroom was new and clean, tap was a bit loose (Room 49), could do with a bigger shelf/surface to put things on. Bed was clean, pillows OK. Revamped menu makes sense for clientele, bit limited if you don't like burgers or mac n cheese
The hallways and bedrooms - carpets, colour of doors/walls look very old and tired. Carpets didn't look clean. Bed was again not new and could do with a topper or new mattress.
Location and cleanliness
Nothing
An absolutely perfect location for overnighting while going to an Edgbaston game. Really friendly, helpful staff and right by the routes 45 and 47 bus stop (10 stops to Edgbaston Stadium) it is a "no-frills" large pub which represents really good value for money. If you stay here, and you like curry, go to Saffron Lane restaurant just a 3 minute walk away. Truly exceptional and a perfect partner to the Bournbrook Inn.
Don't expect luxury. But, seriously, there was nothing important to detract from all its eminently good points.
The mattress and pillow were a bit spongy for my taste but overall it was reasonable for the price and staff were friendly and efficient
Breakfast was very poor there was not enough cups for everyone to have tea or coffee and all of the cooked food was cold.
Location, clean, comfortable.
Confusion about whether there was to be breakfast, and disorganised when it was.
Easy access to Birmingham Great parking on site Breakfast was great
All good
I loved the simplicity
Its location is ideal for events in Birmingham. Lovely building, sufficent car park. Family room was quite small, but to be honest when you are out all day and just need a room to sleep in, its enough. Staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
Needs some TLC here and there.
Very friendly staff. Close proximity to the Moseley Folk Festival. Staff very flexible with our time of arrival and happy to help out.
Smell from toilet was not good, i.e. the pipes. The actual bathroom was clean and the water fine, just the bad smell to the toilet was very off putting.
The location to Cadbury world
Room 20 overlooked courtyard. Hot weather we had windows open people were smoking people were talking loudly late at night cleaners cleaning making noise at 6:10 am and the door to the reception just continuously was banging. We had to ask for more toilet rolls because there was no service with the two nights stay the rooms need updating. We had a sheet with one tear in it and a blood stain on it. The flat sheet was straight onto the mattress, which was a very basic sprung mattress, which was extremely uncomfortable and if my partner moved, I’d feel everything. Awful bed.
Weirdly enough - the position of the toilet roll holder! On the wall directly behind where you sit on the toilet, have to be a contortionist to get at it!
Car parking and location very good
Shabby and a bit grubby. Poor menu, nothing like advertised on the website, apparently due to changes in management. Breakfast offering just fried egg and baked beans. No toast only a toasted burger bun. Had to wait for cups and milk. Very poor
Friendly staff, lovely food in the evening.
Rooms need updating, decor. Other people staying in rooms adjacent very noisy shutting doors late at night and early in the morning, soft close doors would be beneficial or a polite notice to respect others, keeping noise to a minimum. Mattresses not very comfortable , ok for a short stay.
Very friendly clean tidy breakfast was lovley
No lift to rooms
Convenient for location. Restaurant and pub were great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was everything we needed for the two nights we stayed.
Nothing
Location near hospital we were attending
Mattress something to look at very uncomfortable, menu did have steak previously but no longer. Nothing on the menu we liked. Breakfast was available, but on arrival told not available
Great location close to what we needed, quiet and comfortable
Staff in the morning were rude and unhelpful, seemed as though there was arguments between staff members and my partner took the brunt of it
Value in stirchley - location great for requirements
Manager change over meant no cooked breakfast and limited restaurant. Odd
Really friendly staff & very helpful especially as we took our 2 dogs. Room was nice and clean beds and pillows abit uncomfortable. Hotel quiet and we enjoyed the reggie night only stayed for a short while as felt it was abit too loud for our dogs. The only negative was they wasn't any food being served and only continental breakfast for the morning after due to food running out as a take over is in progress. Location is good and has plenty of shops, takeaways and a morrisons over the road
We liked it all no complaints and would stay again
Nice people nice location
Room a tad hot
Easy to find, close to where we needed to be.
It was SO noisy. The other guests were banging their doors until gone 3am both nights. We got very little sleep which made our stay not as enjoyable as it should have been.
Clean very nice would stay again
Needs air conditioning
Friendly, convenient and clean. Bar good to relax in.
Mattress much better than my previous visit - but could really do with a mattress protector and fitted sheets that don't come off!
Great location for Cadbury world / lovely staff / basic but clean and comfortable
Nothing
Location was perfect for visiting family. Morrisons accross the road, great for snacks. Check in was quick and easy. Bar was nice. We were on the top floor so quite a lot of stairs. If you are not mobile request a lower floor. The room itself was a nice size. Bed was comfy. Shower gel and soap in the bathroom. Also tea and coffee in the room.
The walls needed some attention lots of cracks. Shame made room look a little tatty. Was there for 2 nights during very hot weather. The room was unbearably hot. No fans were available. Lower floors didnt seem as hot.
Very helpful staff, room was clean and comfortable
Very long wait for food. But noisy due to location
Location good. Friendly staff.
Rundown feeling to the Hotel. Part of a busy pub. In my room one bulb was too dim to read to. the the heater was only hanging on one bracket. More precariously still was the toilet seat was badly fitted to the toilet and keep moving. This was room one.
Staff very friendly and clean facilities inroom.Public toilets is bar we're immaculate
Breakfast is from 6 to 9.30. I arrived around 9.10 and paid for breakfast. When I went down to where u select breakfast half the stuff was gone and wasn't been replaced ie no rashers , cold scrambled egg etc. If well stocked it's probably good value but if you come down within alloted time but towards the end it's a crap breakfast as nothing is replaced. Went out for breakfast the other days of my stay
Decent sized room, easy access, short walk to the bar, shops and transport links
The noise on the floor boards from the room above and the loud noise from the doors closing on the rooms down the corridor
Location as it was close to a wedding we were going to clean with good shower . If u just want somewhere to lay your head for the night it’s ok but do hot we couldn’t sleep
No ac or fan very uncomfortable bed and very basic room
The location and the ease of parking and a Morrisons across the road
Lack of staff and breakfast was a nightmare. Only 1 person running the whole hotel. From reception to bar and to the buffet. Everything running out and everyone trying to find her for a plate to help them self’s to breakfast or a cup to make a coffee and when confronted was getting very irritated. Safe to say I won’t be staying again.

The staff were great location was good food was lovely and good price
Toilet door didnt shut no mattress protector so when went to tidy up bed stains on mattress
Good value for money. Friendly and helpful staff.
It was all fine for the money. Not luxurious but all ok.
Good location for places we were going all staff friendly all bar staff and staff for breakfast bed was comfortable
Shower in morning pressure not great at one point water stop coming out blind in room not working room needs a little TLC
We stayed here because it is the closest hotel to the Priory hospital
My only thing was it was really hot and could have had a fan, but overall the hotel is great
Close to Cadburys world
No ac. No fans and no TV remote
部屋が広かった。スタッフの感じもよかった。
熱波のせいなので仕方がないが、暑かった。
Pub and rooms are great
The staff
Very basic
The location was great - we found lots of places to eat within walking distance and it was perfect for our trip to Cadbury world which was really close.
The rooms were really hot - it was an extremely hot day but no air con or fan in the room. We had to have the window open to try and cool it down but the windows overlooked the beer garden and it was extremely loud until really late - defo wouldn’t stag here with children again.
The location
Room was dirty, carpets sticky need replacing, very dusty bathroom was disgusting. Mouldy shoes head, dirty plasters on floor. Beds were so old they dipped. Bedding dirty stained and pillows had seen better days. The whole place needs to be revamped, painted and furniture replaced. Get new cleaners who know how to clean. Buy new bedding. Advise to look elsewhere as its expensive for what you get.
The rooms are good sized, lots of mirrors which you don’t often get in hotels
The room stank of smoke, did talk to the staff who tried to help but they were fully booked, so couldn’t swap rooms, was given air freshener and a fan. But overall the room was very clean. Beds were very squeaky and could hear other people in the rooms doing things I didn’t want to hear. Breakfast wasn’t the best.
Stayed here quite a few times and it's always comfortable and welcoming. It's about a £12 Uber from the very centre of town. Morrisons across the road, bus stops local and great food and drinks sold on site. The staff are always really friendly and informative.
Communally the Inn is looking slightly tired, but not to the point i would score it any less.
Location and staff friendliness
Breakfast was not nice
Location, friendly and clean
My fault I expected a hair dryer
Was untidy ans bad smell from the bathroom
Was no clean
Cheap
Rooms not clean dirty cloth left on side and carpets need updating not clean
I liked the friendly welcome by all staff and easy access from the car park.
Lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated and fabulous food!! The room was perfect for what I needed - a bed for the night as I had an appointment nearby early the next day.
Nothing. Just wish I could have stayed longer.
Location in good. Good pub/food on site and staff very friendly.
Room was ground floor with window onto the rear smoking area meaning I couldnt have the blinds up or windows open. As a single female this didn't feel very safe at night either, with lots of noise right outside the window.
The building is beautiful
The was no air con or fans and it was very hot and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in
Good parking
Place was a bit scruffy. Breakfast was a disaster - chef was ill so only "continental" breakfast offered - this turned out to be cereal, toast and coffee. Pub was busy and very loud.
Breakfast was good, continental was poor
Poor choice
nil
Overall, I was disappointed with my stay. On arrival, the receptionist asked to take my bank card and make a copy of it. I was uncomfortable with this, as card pre-authorisation should be carried out using the payment terminal rather than by copying a guest's card. I felt this compromised the security of my card details. There was also no chair in my room. I asked for one, but despite my request, it was never provided. The mattress did not have a protective cover. The bed sheet was placed directly onto the mattress, which I did not consider hygienic. I ended up placing one of the towels underneath the sheet before using the bed. Breakfast was advertised as being available from 6:30 am. However, before 7:00 am there was nothing ready. On the first morning, a member of staff realised the breakfast should have been available at 6:30 am and kindly asked the kitchen to prepare something for me. On the second morning, however, I had to leave without breakfast because nothing was ready, and the staff appeared unconcerned. Finally, there was virtually no sound insulation between the rooms. I could clearly hear conversations from neighbouring rooms as though the people were in my own room. This lack of privacy significantly affected my stay. Overall, these issues left me with a poor impression of the hotel, and I do not feel that the standard of service or accommodation met my expectations.
Location
Dirty bedroom, dirty towel on floor when we checked it.Breakfast was appalling.
Fine for a well priced overnight stay
The beds were a little lumpy
My room was quiet and comfortable despite the pub being on the ground floor. Parking was very convenient and covered by CCTV. The Bournbrook Inn was very convenient for local visits.
The decor was a little in need of attention, but this did not affect the comfort of my stay.
Cheap and cheerful near edgbaston so very convenient for cricket , nice friendly helpful staff . Shout out to Demitri who helped us sort out issues getting a room some sort of mos communication between booking.com and hotel . Nice breakfast , complimentary parking
Breakfast is now separate when booking the room which is an added extra , but well worth the 8.99 tbh
Good venue friendly staff
Hot rooms
Lovely friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms and comfy beds. The free parking is a real bonus too, and a good breakfast too.
It was all great, thank you!
Location
Basic room.
This is the third time we have stayed here over the years. Always warm welcome on arrival, plenty of parking at rear. Room has all you need, clean nice bed linen and towels, plenty of tea and coffee makings, and complementary shower and shampoo. For the price of a room it really is a bargain. Plenty of beers and ciders on offer in the bar, with outdoor seating to the front and back. Staff are very friendly and helpful, eg happy to put our ice blocks in their freezer overnight. Ideal for Edgbaston visits, no 45 bus leaves from just across the road or Uber xl for 6 people just over £6. Breakfast buffet is well cooked and nice quality bacon and sausages (£8.99) Highly recommend
The staff were very friendly, it was a good location for us, our beds were comfortable, the free parking helpful and the attached pub was welcoming as were the restaurants in the area.
Nothing really, but if you are wanting luxury rather than good value this may not be the place for you.
Great clean room
Nothings
Location
Very dated
I stay here each time I visit Birmingham to see my son. Free parking on site, rooms are basic but comfortable. Food and drink in pub is good and staff are always friendly.
Very clean room and great location in proximity to train station and ubering into central. Staff were very helpful in providing extra appliances on request. Breakfast buffet was an added bonus.
The mattresses were slightly uncomfortable (springy)
Good location and big carpark, breakfast looked amazing even though we didn't have any as we were in a rush. Easy to find and opposite a supermarket. Easy distance to walk to train stations/university/Stirchley/Selly Oak/Bournville areas. Lovely staff.
No hairdryer in room which was annoying as we were going to a graduation ceremony.
The staff were extremely welcoming
Nothing
Thanks Sam and all your staff what a lovely stay at the Bourbrook lnn ,we thought for the money It would be somewhere just to put our heads down, but so much more would highly recommend Once again thank you 💯
Friendly staff, very helpful. Would stay again.
The hotel was functional but clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. I would thoroughly recommend the breakfast, very good value. Overall it suited my needs of a simple bed for the night.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
Friendly staff
Nice place and great staff
Bed was comfy
The kettle had something odd in it. I suspect a little pot of milk had been tipped in because it smelled like off milk. In any case it should’ve been emptied out properly between guests
Well located, helpful and friendly staff, excellent parking, and good value
Convenient location for the places we needed to visit.
More storage areas in the bathroom
Staff were lovely and convenient to university of Birmingham
No air conditioning and no gluten free options for dinner
Good location, parking and near shops etc
Our particular room appeared to be very clean but there was a bit of an odour, possibly from the carpet that looked very grubby
The location was just right. The high street has everything you need, varied eateries from every Nationality. Great bars and local supermarkets. All The staff were second to non, friendly, polite and nothing too much trouble.
A few more clothes hangers in the room and the door closures need adjusting as if you are not careful they will slam, but I have to say our room was nice and quiet for our 3 nights stay
Didn't have 1
We loved the location, the staff were friendly. The room was clean.
It was a very hot weekend and the staff had no fans to cool our room down. In fact there was a distinct lack of fans anywhere in the Inn . We stayed 2 nights our room was only cleaned when we left, nobody came into tidy up replace towels etc We also had to ask for toilet roll.
There was a choice of hot dishes and some cold
no croissaints
The price , lunch was good ,nice downstairs
No breakfast day after I arrived, no chef , room really basic, no wardrobe , no coat hangers
Lovely pub. Such value for money. Food was excellent. Staff were friendly.
It was a very hot night. I had read no air-con so not complaining. We had a triple room which was on the 1st floor. You could literally feel the heat as you went up the stairs. Other family members had twin room which was downstairs and a lot cooler - maybe a triple should be downstairs as 3 people in the same size room. Would definitely book a hotel with air-con next time.
Staff were lovely.
My review is not a reflection on the manager, Sam, nor the staff, who were all lovely. Unfortunately, even they cannot polish this t*rd of a hotel. I shall start with a description of the bathroom. Visually, you can see for yourself from the pictures. Lovely, hey? I thought the toilet brush was particularly pleasant. I cannot photograph a smell, but trust me - it was even worse than the pictures. The smell of the shower, after it had run for 2 or 3 minutes (just long enough for me to lather my hair and this have to remain for far longer than I wanted, trying to hold my breath) was not for the faint hearted. I don't know if the smell of rotten eggs came from the drains or the water itself. I am telling myself it was the drains, so I don't have to think too much about the fact I consumed some of the water from the sink tapwhen brushing my teeth. Either way, it stank. And after I came out of the shower, so did I. It was 23:30hrs, too late for me to have to find alternative accommodation, by the way, but had it been earlier I would have left by now. Still, very nervous of the cleanliness of the place, I pulled back the duvet. Have a look at the picture of the bedsheet - does that look like a starch stain, as the hotel response to my complaint states? I don't think it does. I will use "starch stain" as a euphemism for "w*nk stain" in future though. For reference, I've included a photo of what an actual starch stain looks like, and I'll say that Johnson's cleaners probably don't see the sheets from this hotel between every guest. That wouldn't fit with their business model of doing everything as cheaply as possible. I phoned down to reception and the sheet was changed by a suitably grossed-out night porter, bless him, and I noticed they don't have mattress protectors. I lay awake wondering how many people have slept in that bed, and how there was only a thin polyester sheet between me and their starch...
Close to Railway station.
It was exceptionally hot in the room but the window could only be opened 3 inches. Because of the heat it was impossible to sleep and sweat was just dripping off me. I stayed 3 nights but the room was never made up so the shower and drink consumables ran out on the first night and were never replaced, beds never made and towels never changed. Overall very poor.
Despite previous reviews we found the Bournbrook Inn a great place to stay. We had 2 rooms, a double and a twin for 2 nights. Comfy beds Good sized rooms Clean Powerful shower Friendly staff Plenty of parking Tea/coffee etc replenished Plenty of pubs/bars restaurants nearby Quiet (it was midweek) We didn’t have the breakfast but did have lunch and it was good.
Pillows could be bigger A fan during a heatwave would have been good
Good location for the university
Good value budget hotel. We had 2 rooms (double & twin) for 2 nights. Both rooms a good size and clean. We found the beds comfy although the pillows could have been bigger. The shower was powerful. The tea and coffee replenished and room serviced. Plenty of parking. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didn’t have the breakfast but we did have lunch and it was good. Good location near a train station. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. We found it a quieter location although it was midweek. The pillows could have been bigger and a fan during a heatwave would have been good. Very small issues. Overall a good budget hotel. Would stay again.
Parking a bonus Great breakfast Lovely staff
Needed a fan 😂
Good location with free parking, friendly staff and most things you would need for a night
The room was a bit unclean, black mould in the shower, cobwebs on the ceiling. Thin walls so if someone entered/ left their room you could hear and you could hear people above and next to your room.
Clean and comfortable. Good value for money.
The road is noisy which I knew about and took earplugs so slept fine.
The room were nice
