Clean quuet rooms. Good facilities.
You have to check in at the building across the road. We erre not told beforehand
Warm, friendly staff. Clean, well-appointed room. Excellent location. Very nice meal in hotel restaurant.
I have stayed 3 times in ground floor rooms. Hotel is always very accommodating of this request. However, on each occasion there are two (small) single beds made up separately and pushed together to form a ?double. My one consistent request is that they do something about this. If it is a twin room then the two singles need to be bigger and if it is a double then it needs to be a proper double bed.
Everything but check in
It had a comfy bed
Easy access for breakfast, staff were friendly. Stayed in the units across the road and very similar to home
More information about local events. Animal park/zoo nearby that did not get a mention
Basic
Really great staff Good breakfast Fair bar prices Good parking
Nothing
The view was nice, the room had enough space, and good little bathroom. The windows opened very well. Breakfast was a full english in a nice hall in the Edgbaston Hotel building across the street, so we just picked up the car to go back and forth.
The Peter Scott is a university building, so it has an excessive number of fire safety doors. This means anyone with movement disabilities will have a difficult time pushing through all the doors. Remember that this isn't a hotel building, but a university conference building (logings). When you enter, there are several sets of doors and a lift, then more sets of doors, so for someone in a mobility scooter or wheelchair isn't only nominally accessible, but in reality, not usable. Ideally you have your travel partner open doors for you. There's no disability parking at the Peter Scott building. This would've been a deal breaker if my husband hadn't been able to park the car at the Hotel building and walk to the Peter Scott at the end of the day and pick the car up by walking there in the morning. The breakfast is in the Edgbaston hotel building across a busy street, and that should be made clear before booking. We asked for no perfumes in the room, but it had been perfumed, but we could open up enough windows for many hours before we needed to sleep there.
I'd stayed here before so knew what to expect. The room was comfortable with everything I needed.
Nothing
Clean and comfortable. Good value for money.
All was good.
Great breakfast
No air-conditioning. However we stayed in the middle of a heatwave and they provided fans.
Room lovely and clean,great location
It was very hot but a fan was supplied although there was no air conditioning.
I liked the staff and service. The buffet breakfast was excellent as always. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is always a winner.
The pillows were a bit too firm and the room was very warm. However, a desk fan is provided. I just wished the windows would open a little more. There are parts of the room and bathroom that look a bit tired and the shower is small. But, the water pressure was great. A mini fridge would be great.
Nice towels, kettle, coffee, tea etc. Handy for attending university meetings as there isn’t much choice in the area. Uni has a Wetherspoons and a coop on site too so you can go there for cheaper food options
Bathrooms have been kept going for way too many years. Shower cubicle looked dirty but was just worn. Tiles were broken, leaving sharp bits near entrance to shower. Lack of staff on site is a bit of a concern- there’s people in the main hotel but nobody down near this building.
Nice room with comfortable bed. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Great location if visiting the university area.
Nothing
Clean, comfortable room. Excellent staff. Very polite and helpful. Drinks and food was good and Excellent value for money
Nothing that I can think of
great value for the price
Food and staff were nice .
Beds very uncomfortable
Clean, lovely and good value.
Nothing.
Location to QE.
Bathroom desperately needed updating. Chipped tiles and shower tray. Shaver point and light not working. Light pull stained and dirty.
Location, facilities
Everything was great
The room was clean and perfect for me and my daughter. Breakfast was very good and there was a selectoin of food.
Maybe it would have been nice a small fridge in the room.
Simple but clean with lovely new bathroom.
Lighting in main bedroom could have been brighter but that’s just picking something for the sake of answering the question of what didn’t you like about the property.
Location is excellent. It is located about 10-15 mins to the city by taxi or you can hop on any of the buses (X20, X22 or X23) at the stop situated directly opposite the house. The house is surrounded by nature and greenery, within the compounds of University of Birmingham which is great for walks. There are cafes, restaurants, express supermarkets and food trucks scattered throughout the compound as well. The house is just 2 mins walk away from the main reception of Edgbaston Hotel where a wonderful 1900 Bar & Restaurant are located. The food is excellent, well-priced and comes usually on a generous portion. I would like to especially commend Krystian from the Reception team for the warm welcome and helping me with baggage handling right to the door step of my room. The room itself is adequately spacious for 2, though it being a student accommodation is not as spacious as one would expect in a normal hotel. It was clean, well-kept and the housekeeping provided a fan as requested due to the heatwave. The atmosphere was usually peaceful safe for the maintenance works that were being carried out in the first 2 days of my stay.
Filtered water is freely available at the 1900 Bar only. I didn’t mind the walk but would have been nice to have filtered water available at the house too.
Very reasonable. Very good location and lovely grounds. Safe, comfortable and quiet.
Room was very hot. But the weather was unusually hot and there was a duvet on the bed. Would have been nice to have a separate sheet to pull over you instead of the duvet.
You have to pay to park on arrival. You have to check in at another hotel, which isn't made clear until after the room was booked, the room was sub standard and I would not recommend it to anyone. Felt disappointed with booking.com for not pointing out about the check in fiasco and the pay to park on arrival, lack of transparency.
As above.
The room was an accessible one and fulfilled my needs.
We didn't like the mugs! They were chunky, thick, heavy and not the sort you would expect in a nice hotel, more fitting for a roadside transport cafe. The only other thing was that the journey from the house to access the main hotel was a bit challenging for someone who is disabled with mobility issues. The route was a steep uphill walk, and I had to keep stopping to catch my breath. Though the room was perfect, it would have been better situated in the main hotel for those with mobility problems. Fortunately, the weather was glorious, and the walk was through pleasant foliage surroundings, despite its difficulty.
Staff were so accommodating and the rooms were spacious. Having a fan in the summer heat wave was very much appreciated. Location is stunning and access into town was easy using the bus.
No complaints at all. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Clean. Bathroom was fine. In a nice area on the uni campus (I stayed in summer). Breakfast buffet was decent enough.
Bed was really uncomfortable. Two single beds pushed together with mattresses that were too soft. Room could have done with a little more facilities e.g. a mini fridge.
Pleasant leafy location in the University area. Good university visitor type accommodation managed by hotel a short walk away where easy parking hotel facilities are available. In summer vacation time it was a peaceful oasis. All hotel staff polite and very helpful.
Bathrooms etc in need of an update as showing some wear and tear but all working and good value for money.
Great location for the university
Nothing

住房服务
Particularly good breakfast: well-cooked and a good variety
Shower very cramped...
University grounds, peace and quiet. Friendly service, great breakfast. A very good place for a short stay.
Very clean, quiet, modern, comfortable beds
Beds were comfortable but moved on wheels which caused amusement
Very safe, well equipped. Comfortable and hotel over the road has restaurant.
The bathroom was quite tired but everything worked. I couldn’t get the bedside lights to work but was able to carry the desk lamp across. Quite a distance from city centre.
Quiet and great location with parking
Noisy air vents throughout the night
Close to the Edgebastin hotel where you had your meals and free parking. Very clean and spacious. Comfortable bed, bed linen and towels.
Bathroom old fashioned but clean.
Great breakfast and free parking
Nothing - exactly what was needed.
Clean and well organised facilities. It took a little search to find the big towel (in drawer) and main switch for the bedside light but otherwise great location on the bus route from University station and convenient for the University.
Nothing to dislike
I have no significant suggestions for improvement!
The only thing that could have been better is knowing that I had to check in at the Edgbaston Park Hotel, which would have saved me walking there and back, since I passed it on my way from the campus.
Suited my needs for an event at the university.
Noisy bathroom fan with no off switch
Basic room but good breakfast across the road
Ensuite needs updating
It was extremely comfy, slept really well. It was a secure building. Easy to get from reception to the building where you stay. Coffee and tea selection was decent and they provided all the basic things you might need i.e hairdryer, fan, towels etc...
Shower was dirty and the toilet didn't flush properly. The remote didn't work properly. The housekeeper just casually let herself into our room while we were still in there sleeping, I instantly woke to her making a noise opening our door and asked her what she was doing. She scurried out. I had to then get up to re-lock the door. We instantly felt uncomfortable, got dressed immediately and left within 10 minutes of this.
Good value, comfy beds.
Convenient location and excellent value for money. The room was spacious and very clean.
Breakfast had a very good selection and quality
Peter Scott House is a bit outdated, but value of the stay outweighed this for the one night’s accommodation that we needed.
Location was good
Banging all night. Barely slept. Very loud

The breakfast and main bar in the sister hotel were quite nice although it should be noted that this is a 5 minute walk away and requires crossing an (at times) busy road. Not suitable for small children or disabled individuals.
Shower was dirty and didn't drain. Pressure was fine but it repeatedly cycled between hot and cold no matter what temperature it was set to. I spoke with colleagues and this was not a unique experience. Room was hot and housekeeping staff would always open the blinds and close the windows despite it being a heat wave.
The breakfast is over the road at the Edgbaston Park Hotel and is good
I moved room because the step into the shower in the first room was challenging for me - but to be positive, staff found me an accessible room. The check-out time is a bit early (10am). Like mnost of the country, the rooms struggled a bit with the heatwave!
Very quiet and away from the hotel so no noise .
Nothing .
The bathrooms in Peter Scott House are now very tired. A heated towel rail in the middle of a very hot spell was not necessary
Location was perfect for our trip to Edgbaston
Quiet , clean and access to the Edgbaston Park Hotel
Clean, great location for graduation stay, easy to check in, staff were friendly
Noisy and disruptive during the night due to other guests, and noisy in the morning due to drilling noises inside the building and leaf blowers outside.
The rooms were comfort could do with a bit of TLC in the bathroom, the breakfast was first class.
I requested an early book in which wasn’t available but did get our rooms before the 3pm check-in.
Location. Great breakfast.
Location and comfortable bed
Bathroom was dated and a little bit tired It was very hot so a lighter duvet or thin cover to sleep would have been appreciated
Convenience Quiet
Very hot rooms Heated towel rail on all the time No access to drinks / vending machine
Just off campus, handy for an overnight stay when visiting students
Very basic facilities and miscommunication from hotel about parking was frustrating: . Some of the bedrooms back on to the athletics track , which can be noisy in the evenings if there is a track meet hapoenjng
Perfect location for the university Cheap
It is very tired and dusty, and we really baked on the upper floor in this summer heatwave. A fan was provide through so that was a good surprise.
Location was great in proximity to the university in the graduation.
The bathrooms were quite dirty and felt unclean. The doors were difficult to open with the key, I feel like the hotel would benefit from a modern rennovation.
Apartment was lovely.
We booked a 2 bedroom apartment but got a 1 bedroom apartment. Staff were quick to provide an extra bed which went in the lounge area.
Close to University of Birmingham
No air conditioning so room was unbearably hot. Windows have locks on so only open 1-2cm. Plug in fan provided but was totally inadequate.
Cost
Fairly basic
Location Comfortable beds
Bathroom was outdated and very small shower
Location, style, lay out.
Very warm upstairs all the time even with fans in, but the weather was unusually hot.
A convenient, budget-friendly room that's perfect for a one-night stay. We stayed overnight for a graduation... It's literally a 10 minute walk to campus. Check in and free parking are at the main Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre and Peter Scott house is almost opposite. We had drinks at the main hotel in the evening and wish we'd had dinner there.
Some people may be put off by not having reception staff at the actual property (check in is opposite at the main hotel). But it wasn't a problem for us.
The proximity to the university campus.
The checkin and checkout times.
The staff were really helpful and made sure there was a fan in the room as we were experiencing a heatwave The room was really well kitted out
The bathroom was incredibly hot at all times. Again, due to the heatwave so not much the staff could’ve done but it made it unpleasant to use
Close to where we needed to be and very quiet.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like, however I would say that the bathroom in room 2 needs to be updated. The sink had a big crack in it and the toilet was hard to flush.
Good in Edgbaston hotel.
Had to park at Edgbaston for free parking and yet Peter Scott had a completely empty Car Park which really should be free for Peter Scott customers only. Not good parking
Good location for Birmingham university. Originally double room booked was made up as a twin so called reception and they delivered keys to a different room. Efficient service. Breakfast and parking is at main Edgbaston Hotel.
Sink and shower had a really slow drain. We did ask staff about it being blocked and were told it was old pipe work.
I liked the location and quiet atmosphere around the location.
Temperatures high, no air conditioning and fan provided did not compensate. Sleep pattern impacted by uncomfortable sleeping conditions.
Good location, quiet.
No air conditioning in room. Fan provided some relief however sleep quality reduced due to uncomfortable sleep environment.
Good location for events at university
No air conditioning
Was upgraded to main hotel.
Nothing
Great location on campus. Rooms basic but clean and adequate for over night visit to Uni. Breakfast is across the road from main hotel and is good. Plenty of parking.
Location
Small room
Excellent location in a lovely setting. Ample parking. Incredibly friendly staff. Access to the Edgbaston Park Hotel and its amenities.
No air conditioning (although a fan was provided). Very poor bathroom- it’s dated, the shower temperature was tepid and the shower tray filled with water.
Location and communal area
Shower base was rusty There was no air con It was very hot in the room
Close to uni halls
No air conditioning
Good value. Unpretentious
Good value, convenient location for University and Hospital
No Air-conditioning, had to use table fan
I had a good room with a lovely view- see photo. Room had everything I needed for a short stay. A fan was provided for the heat and the windows opened fully.
The air vents in the bathroom and shower space need a good clean. I’d also recommend having a light bedding policy for these hot days. Quilt was too thick- and unwashed blankets are always a no-no in my opinion, (the one in this room has long blonde hairs on it), but blankets are also total over kill in summer, and just lead to clutter in the room as you try to put it somewhere out of the way.
Everything including a great breakfast
Had dinner in the hotel. The service was terribly slow. But not about my stay at Oeter Scitt House.
Location
No air conditioner and totally waste of electricity with a fan left running, shower ran hot then cold all the time
To stay onsite before a university open day was fantastically convenient. Free car parking was great
We were a little far from reception, it’s a seven minute walk away. And the free car parking was also a ten minute walk away. Given the heat wave we had no fridge to keep anything cold which would have been ideal. Also our sink was cracked.
the shower temperature changed dramatically during operation
Much better visit than last time. Better room, fan was a bonus. Breakfast included in price made for a very good price.
Bathroom tired but ok.
The accommodation is localized in a nice area of the Egdbaston Campus. Communication with the hotel and breakfasts were fine. I have solely one comment, it was not possible to open (or solely very slightly) the windows. There is no air-condition, but the hotel equipped the room with an electric fan.
Ok location
Had to go over the road to check-in
Great variety. Fresh. Well stocked.
