Breakfast - Good choice, English breakfast well cooked and continental gave plenty of choice . Evening meal was cooked to order but I couldn't see why I was relegated to the bar when the restaurant was open with several guests enjoying a more conducive and comfortable environment.
The shower controls were very antiquated and the on off selector didn't run smoothly between flow and stop. The other problem was the water heat control - again very antiquated and difficult to determine the function of the tiny plunger on the tap housing - presumably this was to differentiate between hot and cold, but the just didn't prove to be the case.
Everything. This is a lovely hotel. We stayed on our way to Belgium and decided to stay on the way back. Good location in a quiet village. Comfortable beds, excellent breakfast cooked fresh and brought to your table which is so much better than the usual buffets! We had dinner on both nights which was lovely too
Nothing.to complain about.
Absolutely everything. Best food, best room and great people
Nothing it was smashing
Very helpful and professional staff. Charming building. Great food
Dietary requirements were accommodating. Extra tea and toast offered

Great hotel , steeped in history . Good food.
No complaints
Friendly staff. Lovely hotel

The positives were the staff who were all very pleasant and helped make our stay enjoyable. The Hotel itself is very well situated and definitely has that oldy workday charm.
This was a family reunion for my Dad's 80th birthday and unfortunately we picked a night when there was a live singer and music literally blaring until 2355...our rooms were literally above the venue and being an old building you could feel the bass as well as hear it. 'who let the dogs out' at 2330 is not a good vibe at what we thought was going to be a quiet location. My advice is check before you book for any entertainment nights
Excellent beautiful hotel. Room was large and comfortable and very clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. This was our second stay and we will be back.
There was nothing I didn’t like or felt could have been improved.
Quiet nice location
The parking was tight
Good quality, plenty of choices. Prompt and pleasant service. Good surroundings.
Room was a bit too warm. Maybe because it was on 3rd floor?
Thought the building was stunning, the room was very comfortable.
Nothing
Superb staff with great attention to detail particularly waitresses in the bar area Very clean room Great quality products in the room
We loved everything ! Our sixth visit and we will be nack
Everything nothing to criticise
Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and staff couldn't do more for you. we had dinner with family in the evening which was very nice thought a bit pricey but a good evening was had. our room was lovely done the job. was comfortable unfortunately due to the hot weather experiencing this year could have done with another or bigger fan than the provided. overall a lovely hotel would definitely stay again and recommend to others
Dog friendly. Lovely food. Helpful staff. Fab location just off M11.
Great

Great location and a historic inn. Comfortable rooms. Great staff, friendly, helpful and attentive. Great food and drink.
Lovely building, friendly staff and a decent breakfast
The fish on the menu
Smoking in the courtyard, there is nowhere to go outside if you don't like smoking
Location, décor and the overall feel of the hotel were very good. And the staff were excellent, particularly in the restaurant.
Unfortunately our stay was over a mini heatwave and although a fan was provided in the room, it would have been nice if it had been switched on before our arrival to make the room more tolerable.
Quiet Comfortable

Comfortable rooms, great food. The garden rooms are ideal for dog-owners. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful.
The food was excellent but a bit pricey. One of our double rooms seemed to be set out for single occupancy, although the staff soon sorted this.
Quiet and comfortable
Water glass by the bed was dirty with water in it! Staff too busy to sit us for dinner made a snide comment when we sat ourselves down…”suit yourselves then” Ended up leaving and eating at the Indian restaurant across the road which I can highly recommend!
Nice location, room and staff. Beautiful welcome also for our dog with treats, bowl for the water and few small games in our room. Good breakfast and dinner.
The hotel is not equipped with air conditioning, but they provided us with a fan, but unfortunately it was not clean and full of dust. We had to clean it before we could turn it on.
The hotel is stunning. A really quiet location.
We booked a standard classic room for two nights. We paid £130 per night. Our room was so small compared to my brother and sister in laws room who paid the same. Their room and bathroom were huge. We feel we didn't get value for money.
1 bath sheet in room .food on evening terrible for a AA rosette restaurant
Staff and food excellent.
You stated with a classic twin : bath robes and slippers. NOT PROVIDED. Pillow spray. NOT PROVIDED. YOUR description on booking .com was NOT accurate.
It is rare to find boutique hotels with an accessible wet room rather than billing a room with a bath as accessible so that was appreciated. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and managed to resolve all issues when asked. The seats in the restaurant were comfortable after a long drive and being able to eat as soon as we arrived was appreciated. The room was quiet and the hotel has recently been refurbished.
I do not normally leave negative reviews but as we booked the room because it was ground floor and the room was "accessible". Unfortunately what this meant was that it was also the dog friendly room on the ground floor which was accessed via steps unless you know of the alternative route in advance. My allergies are not severe but in a small space in hot weather with a high pollen count it was uncomfortable being in the dog friendly toom. A dog friendly room is great for people with assistance dogs but should be stated in the information as other disabled people may have allergies. The bedding looked clean but smelt of dogs and I had to take an antihistamine almost immediately. I still woke up covered in a rash everywhere the covers had touched. . The rooms were otherwise clean but if I had been able to reach a member of staff when I had a query this could have been flagged up and we would have asked for a different room. Although there were really not enough grab rails to move safely in the bathroom, I appreciated the non slip mat which so many hotels do not think to provide.
Period charm of authentic parts of the building. Comfortable beds and good room facilities. Pleasant, professional staff.
Pigeon nest and mess on room balcony, as it was on a previous stay. Noise disturbance until the early hours from unexpected onsite events affecting all three of our booked rooms. Cigarette smoke odour in rooms from people smoking in the courtyards under windows.
Welcomed. Spacious, comfortable room. Good evening meal but service was a little slow but they did have many people that evening. Good breakfast, very friendly staff in the morning.
The many odd steps could have been a problem but we were very careful.
Characterful and well maintained building, clean room with good facilities, friendly and helpful staff.
The room was rather hot at night.
Locatie, mooi pand, fantastisch ontbijt en top service
Excellent location and able to park at the hotel. Beautiful building and lovely seating areas throughout the hotel including a courtyard. Very clean. Rooms very comfortable and well cared for. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Everything 😊
No negatives xx
Gezellig hotel met vriendelijk personeel. Mooie binnenplaats om te zitten. Keuze uit verschillende ontbijten. Restaurant is zeker ook een aanrader. Ruime parking achteraan.
Large room, good location
Room didn't feel the cleanest. Floor was gritty, someone else's earring was found in the bath, hairs in bath. Outside pub garden smelt bad.
Everything, a very well presented hotel, staff were professional and friendly, the food was exceptional.
Nothing to dislike at this place.
Amazing food and staff and rooms were good value. I booked a second night (was only planning to stay 1!) Staff at check in, bar and breakfast were excellent!
There’s not much to see or do in Stilton but it’s close to lots of lovely villages (eg Stamford).
Excellent attentive staff
The staff were so helpful & friendly The breakfast so good & freshly cooked Know there are different room sizes so would probably get a bigger one next time But a lovely place to unwind & relax Thanks to all staff.
Just room & bathroom size
Location
Not enough facilities and town very quiet
Rarely have I experienced a hotel which exceeds expectations but the Bell inn did so in every way during our stay. From the spectacular restored building to the period perfect decor there’s a real feeling that this is somewhere special. Staff were all brilliant and clearly motivated and committed to their craft. The bar and restaurants were faultless both in quality and service. For instance we had a detailed introduction to Stilton from our waiter who clearly had passion for the area and its produce. Great space outside for our dogs and decent secure parking, village has two well stocked convenience stores across the road. Couldn’t be more happy, we will return when next in UK.
Very pretty with old world charm. Fabulous food. Village setting was quiet. Taxis readily available to get to nearer towns and Holmwood Hall. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Nothing really. Showers could have been a bit more powerful but in an old property maybe this isn’t possible. It was perfectly adequate for me.
Left the location and could think of many events we would love to have there if we ever came back.
The breakfast was delicious. The dinner was amazing. I loved the outside courtyard and the room that opened up into green space.
Kamer staat behoorlijk vol.
Full of history, quirky bedroom and bathroom door handles open the opposite way.
Nothing!

Very cosy hotel. We like the breakfast.
It's a lovely little hotel, nice rooms, good food, friendly staff .
It could do with a lift for the top floor. It was a heavy carry to get suitcases up to the second floor rooms.
Very characterful and interesting building, beautifully renovated and very comfortable throughout
Great staff Breakfast

Comfortable room with lots of extras. A fan was a welcome feature during a particularly hot spell. The staff were really exceptional. Food was excellent although the portions frightened my wife! Large garden area and very dog friendly. Two well kept real ales. Plenty of parking. We will hopefully return before too long.
Driving on the A1(M).
Lovely property, clean, attentive staff

Staff were first class - nothing was too much trouble.
A nice courtyard to sit in whilst having brunch
The shower needed a good clean, and a wedding party was extremely noisy with music right underneath my room which the company hadn’t informed me off previously.
Staff were kind, friendly and welcoming. The traditional accommodation looked very nice and it was very comfortable. Food was excellent and served well. Highly recommended.
The hotel is a wonderful old building that featured both history and character, it was clean , comfortable and had great atmosphere, the staff were excellent, cheerful and most helpful with good knowledge relating to the place and its surroundings, the food was first class and the whole visit to Stilton was better than I anticipated as somewhere I've wanted to visit for sometime due to its history as one of the busiest towns on the Great North Road in its heyday. Many thanks to everyone at The Bell , I will definitely stay here again whenever the opportunity arises.
Not staying longer !!
Beautiful hotel/pub
The history, the atmosphere, the peacefulness.
Nothing
Character of building and location
Doors and keys a bit stiff
Staff and food was good
No air conditioning, fan in room but not comfortable at all. Wasn’t very clean, room and public areas
Lovely old building, beautifully decorated.
The food was disappointing. The lamb was very rare and chewy. It wasn’t cheap.
Very old and quaint
Put in top room not allowed to open windows in case birds came in fan broken we slept in our car
The location is handy for Peterborough and the bar and courtyard are comfortable. But there is traffic noise from the A1(M) motorway. The staff are friendly though some are a little inexperienced in hospitality.
Two things disappointed. We ate in the bar for dinner on the first night. Our meal was interrupted by blue bottle flies, two of which ended up in my glass of wine. I asked to speak to the Duty Manager who was unavailable (for a good reason). When I explained the issue to the waitress, she replied that they were aware of the problem. In which case why hadn't it been resolved? Blue Bottle flies are usualy attracted to decaying meat, not wine. We didn't eat there again. Our room was of an average size but over furnished. Heavy furniture, cluttered bedside tables and desk. We couldn't easily access the wardrobe and there was no room on the desk to place belongings. The desk has a kettle with mugs and tea etc. And a separate coffee machine with capsules and cups. And one wall has wall plugs on display where, I assume, a picture once hung? Finally, being on old coaching inn, there are lots of steps. Some would find this difficult to navigate.
Beautiful old coaching inn with masses of character . Obviously refurbished recently .lots of places to sit outside or in . Good food and drinks and attentive service
Nothing really . Room was hot but it was a heatwave and we had a fan

The beautiful courtyard
Too many steps and stairs
Friendly staff lovely clean room
Nice hotel facilities.
Location, there was pra tically nothing else there.
Reception was friendly and helpful. The dinner menu was excellent and the food very good. The room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was well organised and the choices good. I enjoyed my overnight stay and would stay longer with pleasure. In general it was the perfect stay however the establishment is old and there are a lot of stairs so if there are mobility issues make sure the Inn knows when booking.

Sunday lunch was excellent

location
Everything it was beautiful..staff was so friendly and helpful. We were blown away by the beauty of the area
Nothing..honestly no faults.
The hotel is comfortable and the food is good.
The stairs with heavy luggage and no one to help you up or down with it. The bathroom was very small and tight and the shower over the bath awkward to climb in and out of. Sadly the village has no other amenities or points of interest anymore. (just one small corner shop) so no where interesting to walk to without a car.
very comfortable room - we arrived very late and were able to relax immediately.
Nothing
Wonderful old building which has been sympathetically refurbished and extended to provide a great hotel and fantastic restaurant. Convenient location just off the A1M makes a great overnight stay on long journey as well as a good base to explore the region. I must applaud the staff who were all cheerful, friendly and extremely helpful. Although the room was small, the facilities were excellent including coffee machine, quality radio, heated bathroom mirror and tasteful furnishings.
My wife's gluten free toast was a bit soggy, otherwise all was perfect.
We booked a dog-friendly room, of which there are 3, and were given a garden room with access to the lawned area in case the dog needed to go out in the night. The room was well furnished and very comfortable, and the toiletries were amazing! We didn't stay for breakfast but dined in the restaurant the previous night. Food was excellent. A good range of dishes.
Nothing.
Comfortable Good food Lovely seating areas Friendly staff
Parking is limited
Immer gerne wieder!
Evening meal and breakfast. Both excellent.
comfy bed and location
staff could be happier to see you at breakfast
Very characterful property Comfortable
Rooms on the small side
very nice room, good restaurant and breakfast, good staff.
A ground floor room would have been better. 2 70+ oldies with heavy suitcases! Not always available though. Didn't spoil our stay.
All very good, with friendly staff. The olde worlde decor.

Mooi, oud en sfeervol hotel. Restaurant prima, goede bedden.
Kleine kamer, versleten badkamer, douchen in het bad.
Service de haute qualité. Lieu d’exception.
Friendly staff, nice dinner & Breakfast, spacious room, parking, wi-fi and location..
The mattress on the bed was on the "firm" side.
Walked into our room and was blown away at how beautiful it was. I felt like a queen. Large room with all the facilities. Large bathroom.
The parking is minimal and initially it was an issue but once the evening came i was able to move the car into the car park. The one other issue was we specially booked for dinner not knowing that Sunday dinner menu was basic, not like the menu we had looked at on line.
We had one of the garden rooms, very comfortable and pleasant .
