Hôtel raffiné et élégant, alliant harmonieusement bois, béton et végétation, avec des espaces très agréables (piscine, restaurant, spa et yoga), des chambres spacieuses et confortables, tout en étant à quelques pas seulement de la lagune plutôt qu’en bord direct.

Le personnel de la réception n'était pas très agréable; pas très aidant.

El hotel es muy bonito. Superó nuestras expectativas en este sentido. Hay clases de yoga gratuitas por la mañana y las piscinas son muy naturales. Tienen un acuerdo con un Beach Club que está bastante bien. La habitación en la que estuvimos era muy amplia y se veía todo muy nuevo y limpio

Por comentar, la wifi en la habitación no iba muy bien, desconectándose en ocasiones dependiendo de la zona. Al bajar de la habitación a la planta baja, hay 2 escalones de madera que deberían estar señalados con alguna tira reflectante o algo ya que no se ven bien si no hay buena luz del día y pueden provocar algún tropezón

The location is good. Easy to get to the lagoon and the main square within walking distance. The decor and aesthetic is stunning. Planting. Furniture. All as expected for a property recommended by Conde Nast and with a 2025 Michelin Key. The free yoga in the morning is great. And the space upstairs to lounge around in is wonderful. The cold mostly shaded pool is wonderful.

We booked this as it’s advertised as a quiet space for couples but beware because it is not strictly adults only. Their policy is 6 yrs upwards and unfortunately on our stay there were two sets of families with children screaming in the pool. It was so loud it actually woke me up. The yoga space is not set out for lots of people. There were 14 people on our first class and we had no mats. The food is ok. We had dinner here and it was the most expensive of our stay in Bacalar. The cocktails were nice but really not very strong. The most irritating thing is that the sink in the room seems to have been made for people well over 6ft tall. I actually had to stand on a stool to brush my teeth. I am 5ft. And it was a careful balancing act when I leaned over the sink. There is also no body soap. Just shampoo and conditioner and hand soap. When we asked they told us to use the hand soap. The room is fine. Nice decor etc but there’s an I necessary amount of large baskets in the room. Not sure what they are all for. Perhaps instead the money could be spent on proper curtains. The final straw is the locking mechanism for the sliding doors. Two keys. Utterly ridiculous trying to open the door with a hammock in the way. I actually couldn’t unlock it so called reception and they couldn’t either. Just please invest in normal locks. We chose this hotel based on Conde Nast but sadly it didn’t live up to its price tag and our expectations of that price tag. By that I mean small things like having to pay for coffee pods in the room as extras. With a rate over $150 a night I really would expect these to be free. We didn’t have the option for breakfast when we booked and I’m glad because it didn’t look that great. Skip it and go across the road to Balmoa or a short walk to Madre Masa. Very hearty breakfasts at both. And great coffee. Finally. I lived the pool but it was Hugh irritating that there are no loungers. Just chairs. Why? Why? I didn’t understand the logic in this.

Lovely pool, good yoga classes, very nice library! Bikes to ride around toen are fantastic, we took them everywhere since it is a very compact village.

The wooden walkways are crumbling and even dangerous in places. Not up to standard for a hotel of this calibre. Also our breakfast was not very good, but it seemed they were understaffed so that might be a oneoff.

Casa Hormiga is een prachtig hotel met een fijne relaxte sfeer. De inrichting en tuin is een lust voor het oog. Het zou nog fijner zijn als er ook lekkere ligbedden zijn bij het zwembad. Het ontbijt is heerlijk zoals alle gerechten in het restaurant. Helaas sluit het restaurant om 20.00, dus ‘s avonds vroeg aan tafel. Of naar het restaurant aan het meer wat ook echt prima is. De yoga is fijn en het personeel is vriendelijk. Ook een pluspunt is dat er fietsen zijn die je kunt gebruiken om Bacalar en omgeving beter te leren kennen. (De fietsen kunnen wel beter onderhouden worden, banden oppompen en de remmen goed stellen). We hebben genoten van ons verblijf.

Wat een prachtig hotel! Alles klopt. Heel fijne kamers, heerlijk zwembad, lekker ontbijt en yogalessen. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam!

The hotel design both interior and architecture was fantastic. The location felt very central and we were able to walk everywhere as well as ride the free bikes to farther destinations.

Some of the wood elements on the exterior were starting to feel a little worn out and are in need of maintenance.

Die Unterkunft war wirklich sehr schön! Insbesondere die Zimmer. Bei der Außenanlage müssen wir den anderen Bewertungen recht geben, diese könnte gepflegter sein.

Bei uns war der Pool die meiste Zeit nutzbar, aber generell fanden wir die Außenbereiche und Fahrräder überraschend ungepflegt. Außerdem sind in den Zimmern mit Galerie die Bereiche des oberen Bettes wirklich unglaublich heiß, da die Klimaanlage dort nicht hinkommt.

O hotel e o quarto são lindos, muito confortáveis e com toda a estrutura adequada para uma ótima estadia. O único ponto de atenção é em relação à luminosidade do quarto. Há uma parte em vidro sem cortina, o que faz com que o ambiente fique bastante claro, especialmente pela manhã. Para quem tem sono leve ou costuma se incomodar com luz para dormir, isso pode impactar bastante a experiência.

A atmosfera do lugar é fantástica. Fomos muito bem recepcionados e atendidos. O ambiente é super confortável e agradável. Tanto no quarto quanto nas áreas externas.

The design and decor are undeniably beautiful and the vibe of the place very relaxing

Unfortunately the level of service is very underwhelming for the level they wish to position themselves as and for the rate they charge, and there is a lot of room for improvement (this or it has deteriorated since it was recommended by the guide du Routard...). The WiFi was very spotty the whole time and even cut since 9pm for more than 12 hours. The pool area was dirty, with chairs clearly not swept for days, and a net should be used to clean moss, dead insects, and other filth deposited in the pool, which clearly also had not been done for days. I ordered a bottle of wine through their room service app, got the confirmation, waited around 40 mn until closure time and nothing ever came (and I could not even verify that I could not be charged for it since their WiFi was still down when I checked out...). Free rental bikes are available to borrow - great initiative, but when I asked for one, I was told none of them had air in the tires, so unusable. In the end, other clients took it upon themselves to take 2 bikes to a gas station to pump them. But I do not recommend them: they are old, worn bikes with an extremely heavy frame that makes them very tiring to maneuver and almost as slow as if you were walking. Do not expect to tour along the whole lagoon with them. On the one I had (no. 4), the right brake did not work, and the left one barely. Also, many of them had lost their little number placard (see attached picture). Overall, it is clear that this place does not invest in the maintenance staff that is needed to achieve, or maintain, the level of service they aspire to and try to project. Perhaps it is because now (early June) is not what is considered peak season in Bacalar, but that is also an issue : you should provide the same level of service regardless of the time of year or the number of clients present (especially, again, when you charge $120 USD per night).

The only “issue” was the swimming pool which wasn’t usable.

Personnel accueillant, chambre spacieuse, petit déjeuner copieux, accès privé à la lagune à 10 minutes de l'hôtel, prêt de vélos... Le seul bémol est la piscine non nettoyée.

The staff was nice and friendly. They even had a birthday cake waiting for me, which I appreciated. The upstairs restaurant area is nice and relaxing. The room felt spacious. The location was walkable to restaurants.

The pool was a huge disappointment because it was not clean. The pool needs a deep cleaning. The grounds also are not maintained. Someone should clean the grounds daily. The rooms are very dark.

The hotel was great. It felt very premium with high quality materials and good design. It’s located close to the pier where you can bath in the lagoon for only 20 pesos, the nicest one in my opinion. There is free parking in front of the hotel.

It’s a 10 min walk to the main square if you want to go out, not too bad but it depends what you are looking for. There were many mosquitoes, especially at the reception desk.

Sehr schönes DESIGN

Einige Bretter vom Hauptweg sind halb morsch, bzw. haben große Löcher, diese sollten ausgetauscht werden. Es gibt 2 Stufen in Laufweg, aber keine Beleuchtung am Abend und sehr dunkel und gefährlich. Ich hatte eine Leihfahrrad, die Vorderbremse funktionierte zu maximal 20 Prozent und die Hinterbremse zu 0 Prozent. Die 7 Gangschaltung war auch defekt, also ging nur 1 Gang. Das alles ist sehr schade und passt absolut nicht zu der schönen Architektur und Gestaltung.

Le prix est très élevé pour ce que c’est. Le petit déjeuner n’est pas compris dans le prix, que je trouve déjà bien assez cher. Il y a beaucoup de moustiques à l’accueil. De plus, la piscine n’est pas entretenue : il y a beaucoup de feuilles et on ne peut pas s’y baigner.

The room was great, fresh and clean. The AC was very silent and comfortable. The whole hotel is very nice, the structure is interesting and the atmosphere relaxing.

The breakfast was ok, the pancakes were good but the salty options a little limited (and not as good as expected).

Great location, it’s a very nice rustic feeing to it. The cleaning lady was super friendly and kind.

We had a terrible experience at Casa Hormiga and would strongly advise people not to stay here. When we arrived in our room, there were small insects crawling all over the bed. There were many of them moving around in the sheets. We immediately called reception and, to be fair, a friendly lady came quickly to change the bed sheets. However, before she even left the room, we already noticed new insects appearing again. It was very clear they were coming from the roof ceiling above the bed. The hotel had no other room available for us, so we were expected to sleep there anyway. Of course, we did not sleep at all that night. They told us we could look for another hotel, but at 10:30 PM, after a long journey and suffering from major jet lag, that was simply not realistic. The problem clearly came from the roof structure, and all the other rooms had the same type of roof. There was apparently a cheaper room without this issue, but they did not want to refund the difference in price if we moved there. Completely unacceptable. We also never used the swimming pool because it was extremely dirty. The chairs around the pool were filthy, and there were no proper, clean places to relax at all. Everything looked poorly maintained. We even read afterwards that many other guests mentioned the same issues about the dirty pool and the general condition of the hotel. It is really a shame we did not read these reviews earlier, because we would never have booked this hotel. If we had known about these conditions beforehand — even aside from the insects in the bed — we would never have booked this hotel. The next day, the receptionist was also not friendly or helpful at all. Horrible experience. Please do not come here.

I loved the tranquility and good vibes of the place. It is perfectly located, just one block from the lagoon.

Too many insects to sit outside - due to a lot of greenery

Les points positifs sont nombreux : la décoration est particulièrement soignée dans tout l’établissement, avec une vraie attention aux détails. Les produits de toilette sont de qualité, ce qui est appréciable. La literie est très confortable et la climatisation fonctionne parfaitement, garantissant de bonnes nuits de sommeil. Le cours de yoga proposé a été testé et pleinement approuvé : une excellente expérience. Le partenariat avec accès gratuit au lagon ainsi que le prêt de vélos sont également de vrais plus.

La piscine a été nettoyée le jour de notre départ, ce qui limite son utilisation. Par ailleurs, lors du petit-déjeuner inclus, j’ai demandé simplement une tranche de bacon sans prendre l’assiette complète (œufs + pommes de terre), mais celle-ci m’a été facturée 4 $US en supplément, le bacon étant considéré comme un extra. Enfin, un spray anti-moustique est bien disponible à la réception, mais trop tardivement utile étant donné la présence d’un petit miroir d’eau devant l’entrée, où les moustiques sont nombreux dès l’arrivée.

The yoga in the morning that is included in your stay if you’re interested and even if you’re not interested check it out to stretch. The instructor is great! Rent bikes- they have plenty. A restaurant/coffee/bar/spa spot which I didn’t try but liked knowing the convenience of it being available on site if I needed. The reception team provided suggestions for food, activities and etc at your request or inquiry. The room and aesthetic of Casa Hormiga has me wanting to come back and stay there again and again.

The property is stunning and super quiet, with all the vegetation it feels like a little oasis. There's restaurant is excellent and serves food virtually at all times. The staff is mostly super nice and the room was both beautiful and comfortable, there's excellent bathroom products. The spa offers massages and rituals which are a bit expensive but very professional in a human way. The hotel is a short walk from the lagoon and anything in Bacalar and they offer complimentary bikes if you want + access to a beach club.

Honestly we loved our stay.

De ontvangst geeft je niet het gevoel dat je oprecht welkom bent. Daarnaast veel muggen in het hotel maar ook in de kamer. Vooral in de kamer op de verdieping waar onze zoon sliep waren veel muggen doordat er openingen in het dak zaten. Ook bleef het daar heel warm omdat de airco daar niet goed kon koelen. Het zwembad was smerig en werd bijna niet schoongemaakt.

Very clean hotel, with plenty of greenery in the garden areas. Very confortable room, nicely appointed. Great food in the restaurant, with books and board games in common room. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful.

The garden areas have dark areas, with steps that you cannot see at night. The front desk has limited hours. The cleaning staff will help you if something comes up, but half the front desk staff will say "that is your problem; these are our hours". The dealbreaker for us was that the prices are in US dollars (as a mexican traveling within Mexico, I find it offensive), and the tip was added to the restaurant bill (which is illegal, as far as I know). We spent three days in Bacalar and this was the only restaurant, coffee shop or tour operator where this happened.

The hotel looks great. The inside is beautiful with all the trees, plants, and some small lizards. The staff is friendly and speaks good English. The room was clean and looked nice.

The hotel is quite good but in some places it feels a bit lacking. The pool, even though they cleaned it every morning, was usually quite dirty due to the droppings from the trees around. The available bicycles were not necessarily in great shape. We've had to sign a waiver and pay a deposit on check-in. Now I do not necessarily think that this is a problem, but for a hotel this expensive I find it all a bit odd.

Der Poolbereich war so dreckig, dass wir ihn nicht nutzen konnten. Das Personal war nicht vertraut mit den Aktivitäten, die über das Hotel gebucht werden konnte. Das Restaurant ist nicht wirklich für Veganer geeignet.

The staff was amazing and attentive, very genuine and fun to talk to!

There were some creature comforts missing that we didn't realize (TV, had to ask for a hair dryer, body soap, wash clothes), but they were able to accommodate for most of the things we needed.

Assez déçu .. l’hôtel est tres jolie, la chambre aussi mais alors très bruyant .. beaucoup de chiens qui aboient toutes la nuit non stop ainsi que des coqs en continue… Le buffet du petit déjeuner est pas très achalandé… et on nous a fait payé 6,90 dollars pour un chocolat chaud car pas inclus dans la formule ! Tous les prix sont en dollars et excessifs .. Qu’un drap sur le lit ou j’ai eu froid et malgré ma demande on devait m’apporter une couverture qui n’est jamais arrivé Le lavabo de la salle de bain est extrêmement haut et l’eau chaude arrive au bout de 10 à 15 minutes, ce gâchis est inadmissible pour un 5*

Manque de transat autour de la piscine, malheureusement la piscine était en maintenance sur la moitié de notre séjour + des travaux dans la chambre au dessus de la nôtre pendant la journée (du matin jusqu’en fin d’après-midi) empêchant de profiter pleinement du lieu.

La propreté. L’emplacement au top. Le cadre franchement tout était top.
