In order to successfully check-in to Adventure Queenstown Hostel, all guests associated with this booking are required to provide evidence that they have received two or more doses of a NZ Government approved Covid-19 vaccine. Any guests not able to provide this evidence will not be checked in and will be charged any applicable cancelation charges as outlined below, any subsequent nights will also be canceled.
Covid Policy
Positive Tests
As per New Zealand Government stipulations, in the event of a guest testing positive to Covid-19, you will need to self-isolate for 7 days at your own expense. You will be required to proactively find other suitable accommodations and be financially prepared to cover this cost. Our hostel is not equipped to offer self-isolation due to the shared living nature of hostel life. As per our refund policy, there are no refunds for Covid-19 reasons (with the exception of the government closing the border, which is unlikely). We urge all guests to ensure they have suitable travel insurance.
Masks & Face coverings
Face coverings indoors are not mandatory for accommodations providers. Due to the communal and social nature of hostels, wearing a mask indoors may be impractical. Therefore wearing a mask is to be a personal choice for each guest including staff who are, simultaneously, also live-in guests of the hostel
Payment
Adventure Hostels reserve the right to remotely charge any outstanding balance for any reservation, once made
For flexible cancelation bookings, Adventure Hostels take payment on arrival at the property. Over selected dates and special events, Adventure Hostels reserves the right to charge any booking in advance of the date of arrival. This will usually be once the free-cancelation period expires.
For nonrefundable reservations, Adventure Hostels will remotely charge the total balance (plus 2.5% transaction fee) immediately on receipt of booking from Booking.com. A 2.5% transaction charge will be added to your total balance, this is to cover the fees that banks charge to Adventure Hostels to process remote transactions, this is not an exchange rate surcharge.
Please ensure that any debit or credit cards associated with this booking have adequate funds for us to process this payment. Adventure Hostels reserves the right to cancel any bookings from which we are unable to charge any outstanding balances. In line with Booking.com’s policies.
In the event of any extension of your booking or additional bookings made directly with the hostel, payment must be made prior to the commencement of this reservation.
Beds and Room Allocation
Adventure Hostels are unable to guarantee guests from a group booking (2+ people) will be allocated into the same room, as this is dependent on current availability on the date you make your booking. Priority is given to the bookings made earliest. Nor can we guarantee that any booking will be in the same room for the duration of the stay, though we will always try our best as it makes our job far easier. Adventure Hostels do not allocate bunks and operates a first in first choice policy, therefore we are unable to offer any preferred choice between upper or lower bunks.
Groups
We are a small hostel and therefore do not allow groups of more than 6 people. Anyone found to be making multiple bookings to attempt having more than 6 people will have their booking canceled or be turned away at check-in. Please contact the property directly for bookings of 7+ guests.
Maximum length of stay
Adventure Hostels operate a maximum length of stay of 10 nights. There must then be a 20 night break/gap between any subsequent or future reservations at the same Adventure Hostel. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse service to any person making additional bookings within the 20 night break period, or people who attempt to circumvent our maximum stay policy. At the end of the 10-nights, you are welcome to start a new reservation at another Adventure Hostel in Queenstown or Wanaka.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.
A deposit may be required at the property.

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026Awesome Stay! The team here are incredibly helpful, friendly, and well organised. A special mention to Leigh, Sophie, and Amelie (I hope I’ve spelt their names correctly!) for their outstanding hospitality and guidance throughout my stay. The location is fantastic — just a one-minute walk to all the buses heading up to the mountains, while also being incredibly convenient for enjoying Queenstown’s amazing nightlife. The rooms are cosy, spacious, and comfortable, and the ensuite was fantastic. Staying here genuinely made my trip so much better, and I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. I’d definitely stay here again!

They do have events every night where u can get to know other ppl (of coz u must be brave enuf to join in as an asian. the ppl staying in the same room as me r vry friendly, i had fun hahahahaha knowing ppl from France, German & Japan
well just the bunk bed stairs i guess, i feel tat its too small, but i think its the standard size

The room had a weird smell; the sink was clogged, all the other room doors were noisy and other guests were making a lot of noise until 23:00.

Reviewed May 26, 2026Really good spot, in the middle of Queenstown town, and very nice view from the dining area.
Well... the hostel was pretty noisy (and doing or saying nothing to drunk people getting back late and being very, very noisy) and sometimes it would be the literal people working in the hostel talking loud and putting music in inappropriate times. The hostel dynamics would have been ok thinking of my version as a 20yo partying and not working, but being now 29 and with many hostel experiences I can tell I didn't feel ok paying that sum for the overall quality I was getting back. I won't enter into details of some dynamics because I don't like discrediting people or services, and especially since they've been nice to remove one night I had booked without paying for a fee.

Reviewed Apr 19, 2026Excellent location, friendly staff, well equipped facilities. I really appreciate their laundry service where we just have to leave it in the good hands of the staff members, and they will have them returned to our dorm bed directly, saving our waiting time.
Beds were a little too soft for me, and you have to climb the stairs, but all else is very good.

Limited space to store if your bag didn’t fit under your bunk. Our room smelt wet. Also 1 bathroom per dorm room where bath and toilet combined, so if you needed to go there was no alternative.

Reviewed Apr 5, 2026Todo. Esta muy centrico, limpio y no hay ruidos, ni olores. Nuestra habitación era privada y con baño, con acceso a una amplia terraza compartida. El comedor y la cocina muy grandes y bien equipados. El ambiente que hay en el mismo es muy bueno y acogedor, la gente muy amable y joven, que compartian sus experiencias viajeras. Nosotros estuvimos muy comodos y a gusto. Hay que fijarse bien, ya que esta en un primer piso, se accede al mismo por una puerta de cristal, con unas escaleras. Lo recomendamos.

Reviewed Mar 31, 2026Your staff was very helpful. I was lost because a GPS from my rental car told me to continue. I thought something wasn’t right so I called your office for help. She guided me to go back over 33 km. When I was back I didn’t see your sign and parked across the street. She walked there and told me to go in front of the hostel. I appreciated her help!

Leider ist es recht laut und man hat keine Optionen irgendwo entspannt zu sitzen um zu telefonieren etc. Als ich früh zum Flughafen musste wollte ich mir kurz einen Kaffee machen und dann bin ich erstmal über 2 Personen gestolpert die einfach im Gemeinschaftsbereich geschlafen haben, entsprechend hatte ich erstmal ein schlechtes Gewissen laut zu sein, statt meines entspannten Kaffees.

Reviewed Mar 5, 2026Great location in the town. The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious. Good idea to have the fridges sorted by room name. Nice balcony. We could choose a name tag with a meme for our bed (like in every Adventure hostel) and could pick the bed itself from the available options.
I stayed in a few Adventure hostels and this was my least favorite. It didn’t feel very clean. When you arrive, you need to climb some stairs right at the entrance, which feels very long with a heavy backpack. Very small dorm room for 6 people. People had their bags in the way and there was absolutely no space in the room. It’s not the hostel’s fault but guests didn’t always respect quiet time and were loud late at night.

Leider keine nahe gelegenen Parkmöglichkeiten vorhanden und teils hohe Lautstärke. Insgesamt viel zu hoher Preis für die gebotene Leistung

As it is located in town it was quite noisy and you could hear people out on the street during the night.

It also offers spacious communal areas (a large kitchen with many fridges and tables; a TV room, a games room, and a balcony), which are comfortable places to spend time. But honestly, based on my experience around the world, a fair rating for this hostel would be a 7. There is nothing fabulous or exceptional about it, and it seriously falls short on important aspects such as cleanliness.
Cleanliness is not this hostel’s strong point. My bed was absolutely dirty, with a lot of other people’s hair and even forgotten items, which makes me strongly believe it had not been cleaned. The bathroom was also dirty and poorly maintained.
