Great location !
If you are looking for a place with charm , This is not your place .
Very nice hotel in the heart of Old San Juan
The location is prime and the general setting of the hotel is nice.
I booked 2 rooms for a family trip and neither of the rooms was serviced at all during our stay. Both rooms requested cleaning daily which never happened. We also had to call more than once for shower gel and toilet tissue.
Great location, very nice building, super friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms are a bit dark.
The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located right in the heart of downtown, just steps away from Plaza de Armas. The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond. Check-in was scheduled for 3 PM, but I arrived at 10 AM and my room was already ready. On the day of checkout, they kindly extended my stay until 1 PM instead of the usual 11 AM. I had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back.
The staff members were very nice and respectful.
Holy moley! This hotel was great. Friendly staff that were always on point (esp. Raul, the girl that helped my wife and I a bunch, and an employee with glasses who was great). My chancellor room was massive, the building has a ton of history, and everything is in mint condition. The best part was the location - but the pool on the roof was also a plus! 100% going back if I end up in Puerto Rico any time soon.
Had a great experience at the bar - Oswell took good care of us. I made an account just to post this!
We loved this hotel and it is in the best location in Old San Juan. Walking distance to many, bars, restaurants, shopping and historical sites. The hotel provided us with a upgraded continental breakfast each morning in their open air restaurant and also late checkout as Gold Hilton members. We stayed in a Deluxe Deputy room on the first floor, beautiful room with a nice bathroom and mini fridge. We were in room 137, if you are a light sleeper don't stay in this room. You can hear the trucks, traffic and street conversations. The rooftop pool area and bar is gorgeous with a nice view. The employees are friendly and helpful.
Clean facilities, lovely space for the restaurant, fun rooftop pool and bar.
No parking
The staff was so amazing and accommodating! Anything we needed, such as housekeeping at different times, they were able to accommodate. The location of the hotel is perfect if you are looking for a central location in San Juan. The views from the rooftop pool were so beautiful! We loved this hotel.
The hand soap in the public spaces was often out, but the staff was quick to refill it when asked!
Beautiful property and in a perfect location. Staff was very welcoming and kind. Rooms were very clean. Rooftop area was lovely.
Adjacent doors slam which make it very noisy when others are going in and out of their rooms.
Everything here was just amazing. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The rooms and ammenities were top notch.
I can't think of a thing, it was all fantastic.
Nada
Beautiful hotel in Old San Juan. Walking distance to all the main attractions.
Conveniently in the middle of old San Juan, easy walks to things like El Morro, restaurants and Columbus Square. Felt very safe on the street at night. The street in front of the hotel was closed to cars while we were there, that may be permanent. Our room on the ground floor front side was spacious and very comfortable, with very good "black-out curtains" against the morning Sun or occasional light "displays" from the bar on the corner. The hotel restaurant is good, there are even better around the neighborhood but it is handy for breakfast or a lunch if you are "on site" during the day. The rooftop pool is nice, with a bar where "bar food" is also available. Plenty of open air public spaces for getting together with your group Would definitely stay here again.
Had a horrible night, the people above our room had a drunken member and at midnight they had a brawl and the noise was horribly bad. I give a 5 in the sense that Francisco and Peña (front desk) really gave their all to control the situation and treated me and my family with kindness. The problem was not the hotel per se, it was unruly people who have no regards for others. Francisco was specially thoughtful that night along with Peña. The next morning I crossed path with Peña while walking to get coffee and he had the kindness to invite me to go to El Convento and get coffee from their coffee area. I spoke to Carlos, the manager, not to complain about not sleeping but to give kudos to the employees reaction in the midst of a situacion that was really bad. Rachel was also very helpful taking care of me and my family the next day at the front desk. I wished we had rested well, but for sure, it would have been totally horrible had it not been for the amazing employees. I would love to spend time at the hotel again and have a peaceful night. The location is amazing, walking distance within Old San Juan to everything there is to do and see.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay! The hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A special shoutout to Edgard, who was tending the rooftop bar, and the three maintenance guys he insisted on calling to retrieve my necklace that had fallen between the decking boards by the pool! Catastrophe averted due to super employees!
Breakfast in a $500 room was not included. Location in Old Town was good
Had dinner in restaurant ..very average
My husband and I loved Palacio Provincial! The pros: Beautiful lobby and common areas, staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are super clean and modern (the shower was excellent, the bed super comfy, and the pillows - I know I sound weird - but their bed pillows are extraordinarily comfy to the head) and great location in Old San Juan. The cons: I don't know about all the rooms, but our room did not have a view, maybe other rooms do. When we were a guest, there was a generator that hummed loudly for a while but I don't believe that was permanent. Tip: Get familiar with the street names. Ubers don't drive down the street you are on, you need to meet at one of the corners.
Stayed 2 nights here that I will never forget! Adriana welcomed me like family the moment I arrived and ensured that everything was perfect for me throughout my stay. Raul at the front desk also consistently went above-and-beyond, the 2 of them made me feel truly welcomed and appreciated. Exceptional service! The entire property is also so breathtaking. The well-preserved architecture really takes you back in time and I enjoyed learning about the buildings rich history. The atriums along with their open roof provide perfect spaces to relax and enjoy gorgeous sights at every turn. I thoroughly appreciated the attention to detail and lovely Puerto Rican charm. Not enough good could be said about this hotel. Especially due to its central location, it is the only hotel I would recommend for an authentic Old San Juan experience!
Very well strategically localized
Not much places to park the car.
We were here for 5 nights and not enough can be said about the Hotel. The location is fantastic, the rooftop pool, rooftop bar, rooms and staff make this hotel the only place we will ever stay when in Old San Juan. A special shout out goes to Andrea Figueroa, who was at the front desk when we arrived. She ended up all over the hotel during our stay making time to go out of her way to make sure we were having a great stay.
The Reastaurant in the mornings is very badly run. However dinner was fine
Improve the breakfast
Front desk excellent
Breakfast sloppy
Had some issue with the room and cleaning and equipment. All handled Could use a real concierge to help people go to places that aren't flooded with people getting off cruises - ughh....
Location was excellent, condition of such an old property was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Beds were a little uncomfortable (very firm), and housekeeping didn't clean the room every day (even on days we were gone the entire day). We stayed 4 nights and the bed was made only twice, bathroom wasn't cleaned, only towels replaced. Bar service on the main floor was not very friendly at all.
The front desk staff (including Racheal and Adriana and the bellmen on 2/16 for check in and 2/20 afternoon for check out) were friendly and helpful each time we stopped for assistance or with questions. If you have breakfast at Consular, make sure to sit in Kiara’s section. She is delightful, nice, and provided recommendations for places to go. Honestly, her smiling face is a great way to start every morning. Access to the beach area at the Courtyard Marriott in Isla Verde is included with your stay, just ask at the front desk. It’s a great beach day, with complimentary chairs, towels, and umbrellas on the beach with food/beverage delivery right to you, and multiple options for food and drink inside the hotel along with a small casino. It’s about a 20 minute Uber drive. If you do Uber from the hotel, we found that using the sandwich shop El Meson are your pick up point worked the best. There is a government building across from the main entrance of the hotel, so the street is typically closed to traffic. The bellman even offered to take our luggage to the corner for us the day we checked out. I felt that the service at the rooftop bar tended to be slow and not particularly friendly given how nice the rest of the staff is. Efran (? spelling) and Zuriel made great drinks, but getting help, even after being there for several hours daily for a week, was challenging even when it was not busy. That’s the only reason for 4 stars versus 5. The pool itself is lovely with a view of the bay and is a great place to relax, cool off, and recharge after morning tours. I’d absolutely stay here again. The location is perfect for walking exploration of Old San Juan, and the daily glass of champagne in Consular, and Rose happy hour from 5-5:30 in the courtyard are a nice touch. The king room was spacious and was well cleaned daily. The double doors outside the room facing the courtyard provided great noise cancelling on the interior. Any city noise from cars or people on the street died down by midnight on the weekends and did not affect sleep quality. Also, being an adult only hotel was a wonderful bonus!
I stay at many Hilton properties during my travels and Palacio Provincial is the epitome of what I’ve come to expect from the Hilton name. The staff was welcoming from the moment we took our first step onto the property. Andrea, Carlos, Rachel and many others went above and beyond to accommodate and provide me with an extra special birthday weekend getaway! The staff at the rooftop lounge were also amazing! I loved spending the day touring all of Old San Juan and then stepping up to the rooftop lounge and feeing like I was at a relaxing retreat. Tip: catch the rooftop sunset- amazing!
I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience. As a Hilton Lifetime Diamond member and a global traveler, I hold high expectations for my stays. During a recent trip to Old San Juan, I found myself in a lodging catastrophe at a non-Hilton property (perhaps not my best choice). In distress, I called the Palacio Provincial and was greeted by Rachael, who managed to secure the last available room for the remainder of my stay. Within 30 minutes of that call, I arrived at the Palacio Provincial, where Rachel and her manager warmly welcomed me and facilitated a swift check-in. The experience at the property was fantastic all around – from the location and restaurant to, most importantly, the exceptional staff. Rachael went above and beyond, checking in with me during my stay to ensure everything was going well. I would like to recognize Rachael for her outstanding service and for turning a bad situation into a positive outcome. Great job, Hilton – your selection and training of personnel are truly firing on all cylinders. Keep up the excellent work!
Old San Juan was a great place to spend time with an old friend and Palacio Provincal was a lovely home base. The atria and roof top pool areas are attractive and we enjoyed spending time there. Our room was spacious and great for two friends traveling together. The staff was attentive and we appreciated the accessibility of the restaurant and the daily rose happy hour! At the front desk, Rachael Greene deserves special recognition. She helped us with so many aspects of our stay, from helping us with lost luggage to making a spa appointment and providing restaurant recommendations. She is a true asset to the hotel. I also appreciated how the staff responded to an issue with our stay that was out of the control of the property and the staff by offering us an appropriate discount. I will return to Palacio Provincal in Old San Juan.
The personell are great . Everybody was very kind and acomodating . Raúl and Nancy were very nice and accommodating. We had a very pleasant satay. The hotel is centrally located and you can walk to almost al restaurants and clubs.
Great service! Happy hour was 5:00-5:30pm. Raul was an excellent server, he even brought us a glass of wine to our table on a delightful tropical patio. They offered an impressive rose, from California, of course, it was great. Rooms were very nice, high ceilings and beautiful simple cultural decor! Classy and inviting! Close to the best in old San Juan! Barra China(home of the first Pina Colada)
I had the best experience this weekend celebrating my 60th birthday. The staff was amazing beyond words. Andrea Ubior walked me through my options and helped me plan the best party. Everyone knew exactly what I wanted and executed my vision flawlessly and went above and beyond. Atiana was also amazing waitressing for my group the whole night. I totally recommend for your next gathering!!
The experience was really outstanding. The crew lead by Andrea Ubior made an awesome work. They tried me, my family member and friends excellent during my sister birthday. They have an alternative for everything. The place has beautiful scenic views of the Old San Juan Bay for day or night. THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!
I have been stuck here due to bad weather in the states and the entire staff has been so helpful and accommodating! Especially Edgard upstairs at the bar. I truly could not have asked for a better experience. If you are looking for a place in old San Juan this one is centrally located, easy access to restaurants, bars, and shopping, and willing to help you with anything!
Interiors 5:00 rose 1 free champagne Helpful staff
First floor rooms windows are at street level so you cant open the blinds. There is a bar across the street. From 11:00pm til 1:30am its quite noisy.
We stayed for two nights in January and found the hotel to be perfect. It's exactly where you want to be in Old San Juan for wandering around town. The room was quiet, clean, and well detailed. We had breakfast, dinner and happy hour at the hotel and the food was good. The ENTIRE hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and well trained. We've stayed at a lot of great hotels. This tops the list!
i liked the infinity pool and the staff
i thought they could have done something for our honeymoon as a perk to make it special but it was nothing. also it said on booking.com that parking was included and $28 breakfast was included. but when we asked there was no parking and we had to hike to bring our stuff from a parking garage and then breakfast was not included and that was a price estimate but it would probably cost more to get breakfast - i think this is honestly the fault of the third party booking rather than the hotel but it was a bummer to have to spend another $50 on top of it when we didn’t expect it
I picked an excellent hotel for my visit. The personnel were all so friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Raul, who works front desk in the evenings, and also hosts the wine cart from 5:00 until 5:30 on the outdoor patio. The top floor infinity pool is really refreshing, and you can order drinks and light refreshments from Noon on. The restaurant downstairs stays open throughout the day. Since I did not rent a car, the location of this hotel was great, as it is right in the old section. I enjoy historic buildings like this one, which is about 200 years old.
This is our third time at the Palacio and we absolutely love this place. Shout out to the brilliant staff at reception and in the breakfast area including Kiara who we have had the pleasure of seeing again at the hotel. We love the rooms the space the ambiance.
Bella
Qualità/prezzo non adeguato
Beds very comfortable. Great location
Couldn't see our window well
Loved that it was adult only at the pool, etc. The restaurant was good, it they seemed to be short on staff resulting in a longer wait time for service at the table and getting meals. Loved that there were on-site dining options, even with the delay in service. Extremely friendly and helpful staff! Great location to a number of attractions in old San Juan!
Situación y personal fantástico dispuestos ayudar. Rooftop
The service for breakfast was excellent. Kiara and Rene were outstanding. The chefs Gaby and Elvis did a very nice job. Would return to this hotel!
I spent Christmas Day with my family in Palacio Provincial and obviously the place was packed! I wanted to thank my server Kiara for providing us excellent service despite the circumstances, she always paid close attention to us and even knew exactly what we needed before we asked! I think she is exceptional at her job and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves! She has this gift for creating a warm and welcoming environment for me and my family who she made feel right at home. If you ever go to Palacio, look for Kiara she is super sweet, makes great coffee and pointed us to some pretty good places to visit while we stayed here.
This was our first time staying at Palacio Provincial, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We chose this hotel based on friends’ recommendations, especially for its unbeatable location in Old San Juan and it exceeded all expectations. Palacio Provincial is an adults-only boutique hotel with just 43 rooms, which creates a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere. From check-in, Raúl was outstanding, welcoming us warmly and explaining the property, amenities, and the complimentary rosé wine at Consular Restaurant. Our room (235) was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered a lovely view. The location is perfect, restaurants, bars, and entertainment are all just steps away. Breakfast at Consular was excellent, the Rooftop pool views were breathtaking, and the complimentary daily rosé served from a vintage cart was a chic and memorable touch. Evenings at the Atelier rooftop were a highlight, with great cocktails and live DJ on Saturdays. The entire staff was attentive, professional, and truly made our stay special. During our time in Puerto Rico, we also visited El Morro, El Yunque Rainforest, Toro Verde Ziplining, and dined at several wonderful restaurants including El Jibarito, Bari Restaurant, La Lanterna, and others outside Old San Juan. We also spent an evening at Distrito T-Mobile, enjoying live music and a variety of dining options. Palacio Provincial has officially become my favorite hotel in Puerto Rico, and I will gladly recommend it to family and friends.
Large room. Excellent beds.
Location was perfect in the middle of the old town of San Juan near the ocean. Staff were very helpful! Special commendation to Raul and Andrea of the front office.
The noises lasted till midnight.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated really well! We loved our corner room on the second floor with a very comfortable Hilton King Bed! Dinner at the restaurant the first night was excellent. Raul and Adriana and Carla plus the rest of the staff did a wonderful job of hosting us - especially during Rose Happy Hour! The rooftop pool is small but manageable and we spent a lot of time in the hot tub meeting other guests and enjoying the sunset and evening views. The public spaces are pretty and well taken care of and the hotel is in the heart of Old San Juan. No need for a car!! We definitely recommend staying here.
Did not eat at the hotel.
Room size and location.
Location, staff attention, pool, everything was beautiful, this is our second time there and will Definitely return
The hotel’s unbeatable location and its beautiful rooftop pool are definite highlights, offering the perfect setting to relax and take in the charm of Old San Juan. The service throughout my stay was consistently attentive and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful property and a must-visit when in San Juan! Best regards, Gregory
A two night stay/layover after a cruise and I can only say that it was great. The hotel is buried in the heart of Old San Juan and can be a bit hard to get to, but it’s all well worth it. In a completely renovated historic building the hotel is beautiful, clean, and well equipped. The rooms are spacious and come with fridge, coffee machine, safe, cable tv, and excellent HVAC and WiFi. There is a rooftop infinity pool, fitness center, and bar, and a very nice ground floor restaurant. The real highlight for us was the staff. Rachel and Alejandro at check in, Attiana at the bar on the roof (who made the best Old Fashions), and many others whose’ names I didn’t get all made the stay special. All the staff were proactively helpful and always polite and cheerful. This has got to be the best hotel in San Juan.
Will we return to this hotel? Absolutely, even though there were a few cons (for us). Pros: 1. Warm and friendly staff – every staff member we interacted with was awesome! 2. Comfortable room and bath size. 3. Comfortable beds. 4. Daily glass of prosecco, we really enjoyed coming in after a walk about and grabbing (included in the resort fee) a cold glass of prosecco and sitting out in the beautiful, enclosed courtyard. 5. Rose’ half hour, from 5.00-5.30, each afternoon, the bar served cold Rose’ (included in the resort fee). Since this encouraged a gathering of guests, it gave us the opportunity to meet and make friends with other guests. 6. Breakfast coffee was very good (in the eatery, not the hotel room). Do wish refills were included in the price. 7. Turn down service and chocolates. 8. Cold water offered upon check-in and any other time we asked. 9. Walking distance to many eateries, grocery store, forts, etc. Cons: 1. Toiletry items, i.e., shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and liquid soap had such a strong aroma that we could not use them and ended up walking to SuperMax to buy different, less offensive, brands. 2. In room coffee: We love Puerto Rican coffee and having an espresso maker in the room was great, but the coffee brand in the rooms tasted worse than Maxwell House on the mainland. While at SuperMax, we also bought a different brand of coffee. The coffee in the downstairs eatery was great. 3. Breakfast: Being a Hilton Diamond status, breakfast was included in our stay. The cold items we ordered were great, fruit bowl, etc. But most cooked items were lukewarm and dried out from sitting under the heat (but apparently, not hot) lamp. Toast was as hard as crackers, chicken way overcooked, etc. No opinion: 1. TV: We did not turn it on so “NA”. Tips: Bring your own espresso pods and shampoo/soap.
Beautiful building, excellent location and amenities! Loved the roof top pool area and gym. Room was large and bed was incredibly comfortable! The bathroom products were great too and good quality.
Delightfully beautiful historic property and location for exploring Old San Juan. Charming and meticulously clean room with tall ceiling and superb climate control. Outstanding staff committed to providing friendly service at every turn. Excellent food and dining experience at on-site restaurant.
