hygiëne. Op twee nachten tijd heb ik 25 bed bug bites gekregen over mijn benen. Douche heeft een muffe geur en beddengoed is niet schoon bij aankomst. Receptionist weinig aanwezig en er wordt ook weinig schoongemaakt. Ook weinig sociale activiteiten om reizigers te verbinden met elkaar. Voelde meer als een hotel; ieder voor zich. Niet echt gezellig. Heb een dag eerder de accommodatie verlaten omdat ik niet langer meer in dat bed durfde te slapen.

Reviewed Aug 11, 2026The location was good. The AC in the actual dorm room was good.
There were only two working showers for the entire place and they were small and unclean. There is no AC in the common areas OR the shower area so it was impossible to put clothes on with all the humidity. The check-in time stated is fluidly followed, I waited over 40 minutes for someone to come. They also were not there for the time stated. My room key stopped working, and I had no way to get back into the room because there is no one at the front desk for most of the day. I tried reaching out on several occasions with the phone number provided, and through the messaging on booking.com with no response. There are stains on the walls in the dorms. The beds are incredibly thin. The lockers provided stick and was nearly impossible to open. On day two of my reservation, I received a cancellation notice causing me to panic but no one ever kicked me out? This was an uncomfortable and horrible stay and the worst hostel I have ever been at.

sign says rooms will be cleaned daily- trash piled up around trash can for my whole stay. restrooms were dirty the whole time. i booked a female only dorm and they put me in a mixed dorm. their excuse was they had a mix up when booking. i don’t believe that at all, i think they over booked and just threw me into a room they had available. i would not recommend staying here.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026Nunca me había hospedado en habitación compartida, pero fue una excelente experiencia, el lugar es muy lindo, muy silencioso. Está ubicado en una excelente locación. La amabilidad del personal es excepcional. Lo recomiendo 20 de 10. Queda todo cerca, además de la estación Covadonga donde se toman las guaguas gratis que te llevan a sitios de interés fuera del viejo San Juan y muy cerca de la estación de ferry. El hotel está en la calle fortaleza y desde ahí puedes ir al castillo de san Felipe del Morro, de San Sebastián, el Paseo de la Princesa, la plaza Colón, además te permite ubicarte fácilmente en el viejo San Juan

Reviewed Jul 13, 2026El lugar es bonito, cómodo y tranquilo, ideal para pasar unos días conociendo la ciudad. La ubicación es excelente y permite desplazarse fácilmente a muchos sitios de interés. Además, tienen reglas de convivencia para los huéspedes que ayudan a que la estadía sea más cómoda y agradable para todos.
Como sugerencia de mejora, creo que sería importante fortalecer la comunicación con los huéspedes. Ya que casi nunca había alguien en el hostel y los mensajes que envié antes de llegar no fueron respondidos. También pienso que podrían mejorar la limpieza de las habitaciones. Aunque recogían la basura, durante varios días permanecieron arena y hormigas en el piso, probablemente dejadas por otros huéspedes, y ese espacio no fue limpiado.

No era muy limpio, estuve de sábado a martes y creo que hicieron limpieza en la habitación una sola vez. Pasaron diferentes huéspedes por la habitación y solo alistaban la cama que se iba a ocupar. Los baños tenían el suelo sucio y no había con que secarlos luego de las duchas. Tampoco se limpiaban los inodoros. A veces no había papel higiénico puesto.

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026Fue mi tercera vez en Puerto Rico, la primera que me quedé en Fortel y no dudo de que voy a volver. La ubicación es excelente, en el corazón de Viejo San Juan y a pocos kms de la playa. Hay un muy buen clima de hostel, ideal para conocer gente de distintos países. Carlos, el anfitrión, siempre estuvo atento a lo que necesitamos.
El WiFI está bien, pero si buscas trabajar remoto puede que sea lento.

Que las literas no tienen cortinas para poder tener un poco de privacidad y no funcionaba la puerta del cuarto entonces quedaba abierto , pero fue muy seguro el espacio.

Reviewed May 14, 2026The location is amazing, very good for who wants to explore Old San Juan, everything is within walking distance. The bathrooms are good size and the hostel is clean, bedrooms are good size.
The bed/pillow aren't very comfortable and my towel wasn't as cleaned, it had hair on it. The wifi only works in the communal areas, at least it didn't work in the bedroom I was staying.

Las instalaciones súper limpias, Es bastante tranquila la zona, me encantó el trato de Carla y Carlos son súper amables tienen un carisma hermoso, la señora de limpieza también son muy cálidos! El trato recibido, a la llegada, fue mi primera vez en puerto Rico y no fue de agrada la recepción al otro día no había nadie de recepción que recibiera las llaves y que me respondiera algunas preguntas. Creo que aunque sea Hostel debería haber una persona por si sucede alguna eventualidad

Reviewed Apr 12, 2026A localização é maravilhosa, no meio de Old San Juan, e os funcionários são excepcionais, principalmente o Carlos! Carlos me deu ótimas dicas para a minha viagem solo e foi muito cuidadoso com todos no Hostel! Nota 10 para ele! As instalações são bem limpas também.
A verdade é que Puerto Rico não tem uma cultura forte de estadia em Hostels (são poucas opções disponíveis inclusive). Mas o Hostel poderia colocar cortinas nas beliches para aumentar a privacidade (as pessoas acabam usando suas próprias toalhas/cobertores para isso), e também mudar a recepção para 24h - isso diminuiria as pessoas conversando alto no lobby na madrugada e deixaria a segurança do Hostel melhor.

El ambiente del hostel te hace sentir como en casa y la location en el viejo San Juan insuperable. Camas cómodas, cocina básica pero con lo necesario y relación calidad-precio perfecta. Gracias de corazón, volveré sin duda siempre que visite PR. Hasta la próxima!
La conexión del WIFI a veces falla, pero los chicos te ofrecen incluso conexión a sus datos así que para mi no fue un problema :)

Reviewed Apr 1, 2026Lo mejor es la ubicación, muy cerca de todo en el Viejo San Juan, a unas calles de la Plaza Colón y el Castillo San Cristóbal, se puede caminar por toda la zona con tranquilidad, es muy turística, yo llegué en guagua (bus) desde el Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU) al Terminal Covadonga, es a 5 minutos caminando de allí. Carlos me recibió y fue súper amable, respondió todas mis preguntas y dio excelentes recomendaciones, es de mucho carisma. También fue muy chévere conocer las chicas del Hostal. Hacen aseo diario, los baños y las habitaciones son muy limpias, el agua caliente sale súper rápido, y los baños con sus duchas son separados de las piezas.
Cuando hice la reservación aparecía un número para comunicarse y escribí pero nunca recibí respuesta, porque llegaba temprano y necesitaba dejar mis maletas antes del check-in, tuvo que abrirme una persona del local del primer piso.

Las camas son bastante ruidosas y puede ser algo molesto cuando alguien llega de madrugada.
