Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was so neat and clean. The king bed was supportive and comfy. Great view of the city from the 9th floor. Hotel very close to restaurants and places to visit.
It took a little bit to navigate the ground floor to the street and the next level up for the lobby & sky walk but learned quickly.
Great location in very walkable downtown! Room 308 was spacious. Man at front desk (two tone hair) was pleasant, personable and engaging. Spinach quiche on breakfast buffet was surprisingly good. Buffet area had comfortable seating. Bed linens were good quality.
I called the hotel on Saturday prior to arrival asking for the pullout sofa to be made up. The female front office person said we don’t offer that service. Additionally, we learned housekeeping would be done once during our 4 day stay. Upon entering property, I missed the black sign directing guests to go upstairs to front desk. Walked into restaurant and the first thing I saw was a neon sign that said “Please don’t do coke in the bathroom “. What?!? The kind server who directed me back to elevator said, when I asked about it, “Well, you are in downtown Grand Rapids and have you seen the inside of the bathroom?” A spill on the stairs at ground floor exit remained for 2 days.
The location was excellent! The staff was extremely kind and courteous.
The leaking faucet in our bathroom that made an inch high puddle in our bathroom that I stepped into in the middle of the night. The continental breakfast was sub par.
The location was good.
I got a room with a king bed, and had to use the pullout in the couch. I requested bedding and was given common sheets and no blanket.
Great location, parking across the street, wonderful staff
Location was excellent. New and very clean. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Nicely apportioned room. Everything we needed was within walking distance.
Horrible pillows. They were so flat it was like they were nonexistent.
Location and corner room views.
Parking wasn’t clear upon arrival.
Downtown location
We could do without the racing cars and motorcycles.
The room was clean and spacious with plenty of storage space.
The price of parking per day is pretty high.
Good room, clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable. Good size TV that swivels so it can be seen from all areas of room. The room had good curtains to keep light out in morning. Plenty of room to put both suitcases down and still be able to move around room easily. Having full size refrigerator was nice.
If you would like ice, you'll need to get it at the front desk. Not a big deal but didn't know until I asked about the location of ice machines. If you're staying for a few days the refrigerator can make ice.
Loved the location, it’s a beautiful well maintained hotel. Very clean. Loved the parking connecting to the hotel area. The staff was amazing. We loved our room and the beds. Walking distance to many restaurants. Reasonable short walk to acrisure theater. No complaints!
Nothing I didn’t like
There was literally a breast feeding pad wrapped up in one of our beds. That is so gross, how well do you wash these things? Also all over online and your staff told us how good the breakfast was and it was the most average to below average food.
Front desk team are exceptional- kind and helpful with every interaction.
I can’t think of anything negative - really impressed.
Room was clean and big. Breakfast was good. Plenty of space to accommodate many people.

Clean, friendly staff, perfect location, great breakfast
Little pricey
Loved the room and property.
Wished the location had a hot tub.
It took over 3 hours to get checked in. This was due to the concert from the night before. I know that management was aware. They should have planned better
I don’t remember her name but the gal who check us in at the front desk was exceptional. Our room was excellent, clean and comfortable. The hallways were clean and tidy. Breakfast was great with plenty of options for all dietary needs.
We spent a couple of nights here as we came from Illinois to attend the Megan Moroney concert at the arena. For the good news, if you are attending an event at the arena, this is a perfect place as it’s not even a five-minute walk to the arena from the hotel and depending on your room, you can see the arena. You get free breakfast and the dining area is large, and they also have an outdoor patio that includes a grill. As for the room itself, it is good sized and as we recently stayed at a Home2 Suites, this was a better setup as it had a full kitchen, including a stove. The only advantage of the Home2 Suites setup was there a curtain you can use to separate the living room and bedroom if you needed some privacy but other than that, and the mattress was just average at best, we still liked the room. Also, the fitness center was above average for a hotel. Now for the not so good stuff … parking is a mess here and you must pay a steep price, $33 a day. You need your room key to get in and out of the garage. The setup is weird the garage is across the street. The first level is not attached to the other levels and only has a handful of spots, so getting a spot there is close to impossible. Likely you’ll need to go around a block to the entrance to the other levels. However, even though there are multiple levels, it’s not easy to get a spot here either and as a result people just invent spots and park in any area, including the ramps going into each level, which makes getting around even tricker. We got one of the last spots on the first day (and it was only 3 PM in the afternoon), and on the second day we barely got a spot after circling around, and it was right next to a spot where somebody threw up earlier that day, so it was not good. The only nice feature is that there is a skyway access into the hotel from the garage. To add insult to injury when we checked out, we tried to leave the garage, but we couldn’t as they deactivated our keys so the gate wouldn’t open. We were lucky as a worker was just driving in and she was nice enough to get out of her car and then she scanned her employee key to use. For the money we paid, we deserve better. They really need to add another floor but since I doubt they will ever do that, at the very least, when the hotel is at a high occupancy rate, allow people to use the other parking garage right across from theirs and then they can pay for it. Another big issue is that it’s a large hotel with 13 floors but only has two elevators so each time we needed it, there was a wait. Even worse, for the second night one of them stopped working. There is a service elevator, but it was made clear it wasn’t for guest use but in cases like this, they should make an exception. My daughter loves to hit the pool, but we were disappointed as it was small, even by hotel standards, was only 3 feet in the entire pool and was cold. Also, it didn’t have a hot tub. As a result, she didn’t want to even go the next day, which is very rare for her so that pretty much says it all. Overall, there were more negatives than positives so if ever back in Grand Rapids, we would go somewhere else.
The hotel manager Andrew was amazing in providing service. Room was beautiful. Staff was efficient and kind. I would highly recommend this property and very grateful to Andrew for assisting us with our stay.
The front desk service was great and our room was excellent. The room was very clean and I would highly recommend this hotel.
Great location , friendly staff , lovely accommodations
Wonderful room and breakfast!
Nothing
First time stay and loved everything. Ease of check in, parking, friendly staff, awesome room, comfy bed, walking distance to Van Andel, good breakfast in the morning! Check out at 11am so didn't feel rushed.
The price was pretty high. I know we paid more because of the concert. That is the only complaint. Didn't have any other issues.
We stayed in the suite and it was beautiful, clean and convenient. I loved the fact there was everything I needed to reheat leftovers from the restaurant we visited for dinner. I loved the DASH bus system for travelling to the Amphitheatre for our concert. The breakfast was wonderful and extremely delicious and I was impressed at the variety and choices of food offered.
It was listed as a city view when I booked it but it was not a city view. I had a view of the police station building and the heating/cooling system from the rooftops. I paid top dollar for what I thought was going to be a beautiful city view but was disappointed by the fact it was not. I drove my pick up truck and found the parking lot extremely tight to manuever around in and suited more for smaller cars and SUVs. I also booked my room in March and had asked for an early 2:00 check in instead of a 3:00. When I called on June 11th to verify my stay they told me that not only did they not see an early check in request but now I had to call at 8 am on June 13th, my check in day, to see if it was possible. I called at 8 am only to be told that I needed to call back at 12:00 to check again. At 12:00 when I called they told me that they could not fulfill my request and that instead of a 3:00 check in now it was going to be 4:00. I explained that my confirmation said check in was 3:00 not 4:00 and after explaining that I just drove over 2 hours to get here she told me 3:00 was fine and abruptly hung up on me. I paid almost $500 for a city view suite, that I did not get, requested an early check in 3 months in advance, that they had no recollection of and then when checking in they tried to double bill my credit card for a room I already paid for. I had to pull my phone out to verify successful online payment and the manager had to be called. It was extremely frustrating to say the least.
Location was perfect . Walking distance to DeVos Center. Parking was convenient.
Difficult to figure out where to park for initial check in
Nice breakfast, very nice place
Nothing
Very comfortable for adults and children. Location good for restaurants and activities b
Paid for parking and the lot was full by 9:30 pm. Had to park on the street. No complimentary lotion in the bathroom, especially as I forgot mine.
Great location
I noticed sign in room for sleep aid if wanted available at front desk. This is because the police station is right next door and the main fire station only a few blocks away and sirens and loud vehicles keep waking up guests. Too bad website fails to mention
Everything was nice. Woke up too late to test breakfast.
The couch in the room. Some parts were low and others high. The pull out bed was horrible. You could feel the springs and sunk in the middle. Couldn't figure out how to turn off dishwasher after accidently starting it.
Location was perfect for the arena we could walk to it!
Parking was expensive
Great location, super close to Van Andel. Very clean and staff are wonderful.
The breakfast was very good. Perhaps a variety of proteins would be nice. My husband missed having bacon.
Maybe some bacon.
Bother wrong night was booked. Hotel was sold out. Booking.com and Marriott Couldn’t help us out even though we are Bonvoy members
Location was great. Loved our suite. Room was clean. Blackout curtains appreciated
Pool was freezing cold. Parking should be comped.

Closeness to Van Andel. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great.
Pool was kinda smaller.
Within walking distance to arena
Had a suite for 2 nights and needed to ask for towel refresh and garbage change. Disappointment no bed turn down
Nice and clean hotel with big rooms. Would definitely stay here again. The woman working the morning breakfast was very nice. Front desk on the other hand couldn’t care less. One guy was evening sitting in a chair behind the counter not helping anyone. I think he may have been the manager. Parking is terrible. Across the street and a pain. Lots of food choices around. Good solid business hotel.

The pool was a tad cold and unfortunately there was no hot tub
We liked the clean rooms. Safety on elevators, pool hours and proximity to events we had planned
We didn’t like the parking
We had a great room and the location was perfect for visiting Van Andel Arena.
Location!!
It was perfect!! Hot tub would be a nice addition!!

Close to Van Andel and restaurants. The breakfast was good. Comfortable beds.
Figuring out the right entrance to the parking structure was annoying. $33 for parking is too much, it should be included with the stay.
The breakfast was fantastic with healthy choices as well. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel! The breakfast was better than expected. The parking was not great but we found a spot and it worked out fine for our trip.
Parking but I also understand there is not space downtown.
I stayed at the Residence Inn Grand Rapids Downtown from February 10–11, room No. 814, and had a truly excellent experience. Prior to my arrival, General Manager Andrew White personally reached out and proactively offered a room upgrade. This was a great reflection of my Marriott Titanium Elite benefits and made me feel genuinely valued as a loyal guest. Thoughtful gestures like this definitely strengthen my loyalty to Marriott. When I checked in on the evening of 2/10, the front desk associate was incredibly warm and welcoming — it honestly felt like coming home after a long trip. The check-in process was smooth, friendly, and professional. The facility and my room were both very clean and well maintained. The layout worked especially well for a business stay, and the downtown location makes it very convenient. Overall, this is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Grand Rapids for work or a short city stay. I would gladly return.
Beautiful Hotel Nice Room Great Breakfast
This is being picky but our all way needed to be vacuumed.
Parking lot was a fiasco. Front desk was unhelpful when I thought my wallet was left in the room I had checked out of and I could not provide ID because I thought my ID was in the room.
Location was perfect for why we were there.
Super Unterkunft und super Lage
Zimmer war top, perfekt für Familien und super personal
I liked the breakfast sky bridge and restaurants underneath the hotel!
We were very bummed you didn’t have a hot tub
The location was convenient for all the places I wanted to see.The staff was very helpful.
