The location was perfect

The room smelt stale. Although the room was very large there were no hooks for coats or the dressing gowns which were provided.

The dog dining policy was ridiculous . Huge restaurant where an area could have been created for dogs and owners but we were placed in a Leper colony away from the restaurant and other guest must have thought we were in the naughty corner. The result, we didn't dine in the restaurant we went out to more friendly restaurants-Malmaison loss

The sky bar now has a pavilion something that wasn't there during my last visit which is a very nice addition for windy or rainy days. + We really appreciated the room upgrade provided by the reception team to celebrate our wedding; it was fantastic service that we will look back on fondly.

FYI: We were there a few years ago and got a discount at the car park next door..., but That wasn't the case this time, so we ended up paying £40 for parking.

The location of the hotel was excellent. It was only about a 5 mins walk from the station and made a convenient base to explore the city from. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The breakfast selection was very good and all the food we ate was delicious and to a high standard.

Our room was very clean and comfortable but the only criticism is the bathroom layout/lack of privacy. We were two friends sharing a twin room so the glass between the bathroom area and the bedroom meant we had to move into the far corner of our room whilst the other person was in but more importantly getting out of the shower to allow them to have full privacy. Definitely not well thought out and not at all ideal! We feel this would be easily resolved by putting blinds up and the glass panel

The convienance of the location, tha layout of the bedroom was excellent features like the floor lighting if you got up in the night. Roof garden was nice. Overall far better experience than other top hotels.

I really didn’t appreciate being advised on booking .com to park in NCP which was £40 ! And then realising next door at the station was a fraction of that price - spoilt the stay as that’s a lot extra not accounted for

It's in a great location, very close to the station and to the main town centre. The design is pleasant and the overall feel is of a decent quality hotel. Comfy bed and pillows, extremely large accessible bathroom for those who need it.

Not the best value for money, it's a premium price for a overall basic experience with a good branding around it.

We stayed in room 310 . The bathroom facilities were really weird . The bathroom was in the room divided by a dark glass screen . The sink was in the strange little corridor space behind the glass screen with a shower at the end . The toilet itself was just to the side with a sliding wooden door . It didn’t offer much privacy . The whole layout of the room needs reconfigured .

Breakfast wasnt that good. Bacon was so hard and dry Sausage not goid quality Beans cold.

On busy junctions, would have been better on higher floor, we were on second floor, building site next door, I know the hotel can’t help that.

Excellent location for exploring the city and its attractions. Very helpful staff in all areas. Clean room. Great range of breakfasts on offer as there were for evening meals.

Minor improvement suggestions - In the bedroom area we could have done with a bin and in the bathroom a towel rail next to the sink - but not major issues. In the bar I found it odd that I couldn't have a half of Guinness and could only have a pint! Not a problem one might say. My wife missed having an area to put on her make up with a mirror in the bedroom rather than using the mirror in the bathroom.

Bedrooms are very well set out. I especially like the make up mirror area. Bed was comfortable and there was a good space to work at.

Der SPA Bereich ist nur gegen Voranmeldung zu benutzen. Leider konnte ich nicht davon profitieren, weshalb ich keine Bewertung dazu geben kann.

Loved everything, quiet, spacious rooms, comfortable, absolutely lovely staff - especially the breakfast staff and room service staff. Well looked after and allergies catered for. Brilliant options for us, huge breakfasts, and great dining menus. Allergy friendly food plentiful and well explained, no fuss, which is just what is needed. Felt very cared for and rested.

My room was incredibly dark. Much of the limited lighting only stayed on when moving about. The control for the air-con took me a day to figure out. The lifts were card operated and very temperamental. Noise from building site nearby

I'm still waiting for the 2 dental kits I ordered on 5th morning. The website says parking on site and that's why I booked the hotel. They have 4 spaces. So it's not for last minute bookers. I would have booked elsewhere had I known. Breakfast options weren't great.

ציפיתי יותר ממלון 4 כוכבים. החדר לא מאובזר ברמה של 4 כוכבים שאנחנו רגילים. לא היו בחדר כפכפים ומתברר שלחדר כזה במלון ברמה של 4 כוכבים לא מגיע עם כפכפים. אין מראה באזור הרחצה ליד הכיור אלא רק מראה קטנה של איפור. הכריות לא נוחות. החלונות לא ניתנים לפתיחה והם התיזו ריח בחדר. אומנם הריח נעים אבל מאוד חזק ומחניק, ואי אפשר לאוורר את החדר. גם ללא הריח אנחנו רגילים לאוורר חדר ולא רק עם המזגן. גם מבחינה בריאותית חשוב. המקלחת עם דלת שקופה לתוך מתחם אזור הרחצה שלא נפרד מהחדר וזה פחות נעים ונוח לי . ארוחת בוקר ממש דלילה.

The hotel contacted me to offer a room upgrade which was advertised as a larger room with Cathedral of view. At check in we found out that no such room was available and that the cathedral view as not guaranteed. This fact - which would have been important for our upgrade decision - was somewhere hidden in the small print of the upgrade offer. The reception staff then had to deal with a disappointed customer (but did this well).

Club room was clostrophobic no window to open And was warm was awful you couldn’t sleep right. Also not private when having a shower was glass partition see through. Lighting was so poor you had to open the wardrobe to get lighting to put your make up on or drying your hair. Was provided with a dog bed which had hairs all over it and dust film from other dogs so didn’t use. Also no parking they have only 7 spaces to prebook which costs £27.50 a night for guests. Had to pay £40 a night at ncp car park .

Its a lovely hotel, good location, nice rooms, nice staff and good food, we had breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal, enjoyed it all.

I didnt like when they offer you a room upgrade price and you accept and agree to pay the extra on check in, you get an email/message saying we will tell you on arrival if your upgrade has been excepted, no i want to know ive got the room when i upgrade, its all about room sales,you only get the upgrade if no one else books it.

The lack of a carpark. We had to pay £120 for 3 days in the NCP which is nextdoor. The Nunnery lane carpark wasn't good enough; spaces to tight!

The room was fabulous like a small flat would have liked to have been higher. Pallavi was very helpful when I had to cancel my holiday but she helped us out with it and didn’t lose any money. She went beyond helping us.

The hotel is well situated near the station and a short walk to York Minster and The Shambles. It has a nice modern feel.

Our room was cold with a draft coming from the huge windows. Although the room was large, the space was not well used or appointed. We had a delux club room. The bathroom was great. The bed was comfy.

The inclusion of parking is disingenuous. They’ve seven spaces you need to book in advance and the next closest car park is £40 overnight. Should be cautious if parking is needed.

Location was excellent. Lovely staff, good food and cocktails. Very comfy beds and great bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast box in our room. We had a great visit to York for our silver wedding and would recommend The Malmaison York.

We arrived at lunch time to find one person on reception and an absolute barrage of suitcases and bags all stacked up behind her ,the side of her and in view of a large window were everyone personal belongings where on view to the general public that were walking past. All the hotels we have stayed have put our luggage away in a locked room. Our room was dark and dingy and the windows were high up in the room and not the best of views either. The bathroom area looked like a kitchen area and there was very little privacy to it all other than a sliding cupboard door to the loo. The TV was situated to the left of the bed and didn't have a swivel so you could watch T.V in bed. We asked about having a drink in The Sora bar and despite being residents we were advised to book a table. We arrived in there with our pre-booked table to find the bar area at 4pm was about 30% full. Nice atmosphere but limited choice of drinks by the glass. Our room was on par with a Premier Inn hotel in Beverley that we have recently stayed in and this was half the price.

Thoughtful design and decor made our stay. The amenities were cleverly tucked here and there (it was fun to find hidden items, such as the TV!) Bed and pillows very comfortable. Shower with double faucets was outstanding. Starbucks in the lobby made breakfast easy. The hotel bar was perfect so we never made it up to the rooftop restaurant even though that was the initial draw! Location was perfectly placed between the Rail Station and York Minster, with tempting cafes and restaurants and museums on the short walk in between.

Thermostat did not work in one room despite repeated inquiries.
